    Medium Iced Matcha (~$6)
    Aya E.

Ordered: Medium Iced Matcha (~$6): with oat milk Aya's take: Nothing like a midday matcha pick-me-up! We stopped at Hungry Ghost for a quick caffeine break and to just chat. They don't have much sitting inside but luckily, it wasn't busy when we went so we were able to grab a table in the corner. The Iced Matcha is smooth, silky, and earthy. It was still good as is, but I should've added a syrup to enhance the sweetness a bit. Decent try!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: King David breakfast tacos have returned!!! Mom's Migas with green salsa is my top pick.

    Raspberry croissant + cold brew

I found this place when looking for somewhere to work a few weeks back and decided to try it out and really enjoyed the experience! Staff was incredibly friendly and the cold brew was very nutty, which is how I like it. The raspberry croissant was solid and I sat here for a few hours working (until a horsefly flew inside from the nearby park and I left because I didn't want to get bitten ). I grabbed a cappuccino on my way out and it was also solid; will definitely be back.

Adorable coffee shop! This location is a very short walk from the Grand Army Plaza subway stop; it was perfect for grabbing a cup before walking through Prospect Park! Today, a friend and I decided to spend our holiday morning drinking iced matchas and walking Prospect Park top to bottom. The matchas were delicious! The barista measured the amount of matcha using a scale, which is far more trouble than many coffee shops will go to when brewing tea. Hungry Ghost is very small (at least this location is), so don't expect to go sit down or work "from home" at the cafe, but definitely get yourself a cup and enjoy it at the Grand Army Plaza fountain! You can tell this capffeeshop cares about their product. Would recommend!

Iced latte here and hot cappuccinos were so pleasant! Even though there was a line out the door on a Saturday morning, it still went quickly and we were able to get our drinks and be on our way. One of my favorite local NYC chains, and such a friendly outpost here in the Grand Army Plaza area.

Solid cookie, but really unclear why this place just opens a buncha cafes within (anyone's definition of) walking distance of each other.

Best donuts in 5 boroughs! I also love their coffee, they get really busy in the morning.

People have left some odd reviews of this place, including a one-star review for the restaurant…read moreapparently being highly politicized--a vibe I neither felt nor could visually identify within or without the establishment. I ordered a single burger and a Sudan spiced peanut butter latte, for ~$15! That's pretty inexpensive for New York City. I note this as some consider it overpriced. I suppose the food is fairly inexpensive, the lattes slightly higher than average. The "burger" comes wrapped in a homemade pita with diced cucumber, onion, and tomato, plus a few crispy, thick-cut fries and a yummy house sauce. It was a cool twist of the traditional burger and had a nice flavor. The sauce was like a slightly Mediterranean version of Big Mac sauce. The girl working as the barista and cashier was very nice and friendly. She had a nice presence and warm smile, made suggestions, and even gave a stranger free utensils when they popped on to ask. I think it's definitely worth checking out, and it's a good place for a cheap & simple meal that's still quirky and fun.

I have wanted to try this spot for some time, and wound up a bit disappointed with what I tried…read more They feature a tahini cold brew, which features two things I love dearly, but instead of a rich cold brew it was overly sweet and icy--more like a slushie. Perhaps I should have anticipated that, or my mistake in ordering. I also ordered a Moroccan egg salad sandwich which was substantive but surprisingly bland--sparse with the advertised capers and pickled red onions to give it more punch. I've always loved the look of the spot and the vibe--funky decor, outside and indoor facing counters to order, with some outdoor seating for people watching on Dekalb or heading nearby Ft. Greene Park. I see they are renovating and rebranding a bit and adding some burger component. While I didn't love it, I'd definitely give it another shot.
