Over the years I've visited many other locations and for good or bad I'm a Checkers expert! Arriving- Immediately off US Route 27 South and drive-thru and walk-up only! No inside seating. At this Checkers there is one drive-thru for App users and one for everybody else. In the App user's lane, you receive your order through the passenger window which I find slightly annoying. However, the other benefits of the app make up for it. Ambience- The only thing to discuss is the outside seating. A few sizable tables with big umbrellas to keep off the hot Florida sun. The App- The app is solid and well-designed but most importantly, it has great deals. I almost always get some kind of discount. Customer Service- Unless you live under a rock, you know they are drive-thru and walk-up only. I've found the service to be fast, especially in the App-user lane. I've never had a mistake with my order, so the folks are competent. The employees are not usually super friendly, but they are polite and efficient and I'm good with that! Food- Burgers, Chicken and their famous Seasoned Fries in a myriad of combinations. They also do occasional specials like a Cheesesteak which was not bad! On this visit I had their Big Buford which is their take on a Dbl Qtr with Cheese. I added a Seasoned Fries and no drink as I was bringing it home. It would normally go for about $10 but I paid $7 with some App discounts. See my picture. This is not gourmet food, but it was tasty, well-prepared and well-seasoned. It was a great value and I was satiated! Conclusion- So you get better than decent food quickly, at a great price and never need to get out of your car. It's an easy four stars for me!

If you patronize them, especially if you have the app, you need to check it out. The old system had tiers based upon your yearly spending. My tier was Captain. There was also Subway Cash. This has all been revamped. The new system is "Every 4th Footlong Free!" 1 Footlong = 1 stamp 6-inch sub = 1/2 a stamp 3 stamps = 1 free Footlong This seems much simpler than the old system and I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs. There is also still Subway Cash. I'll leave it to you to read the fine print. For this visit, as usual, I used the App to order the Footlong, 5-Meat Sub with all my usual add-ons. The App performed perfectly. Ambience- This is a clean, typical Subway. I always order on the App and never eat in so the only thing I really care about is cleanliness and it's always been spotless. Customer Service- My sub was ready before the time predicted. That's normal here. The folks smile and use my name so it's all good. Food- I almost always order the 5-meat version and it's fast, fresh and completely acceptable. See my picture. Conclusion- Can I purchase a better sub somewhere else? I've consumed tons of fast food or fast casual food. Somehow, I've never visited Culver's. Yup, I'm a Culver's virgin so off I went for lunch on their Grand Opening day. Arriving- These fine folks are just off US Route 27 South, so they are easy peasy to find. They have a drive-thru, very nice curb-side delivery and a decent parking lot for dining in. Handicap parking is great. The App- I planned on curb-side delivery but like most virgins, I was a little nervous! I didn't want them to know it was my first time! The app was just fine and allowed me to figure out my choices. I entered the color, make, and model of my car and told the app to make it happen. Ambience- I can't speak to the inside, but the ambience of the parking lot is just great! The signage and lane markings are spot on. Customer Service- I waited in my car for about 4 minutes and a very nice young lady delivered my food. Four minutes is nothing, so I was quite pleased. Food- I went with the Double Deluxe ButterBurger, and a medium Onion Rings at about $13. I brought it home and plated it and you can see my picture. So far, my virginal experience was just great! So, I had my first Culver's orgasm with the ButterBurger! Great bun and build. Juicy tasty meat and fresh toppings. An overall great burger. My neighbors were complaining about my moans of ecstasy! The onion rings were a little bit of a miss. You can see from my pic that some were overcooked. The manager should know better than to let those go out. They get a bit of a pass as it's their Grand Opening. The rings that were cooked properly were amazing! Conclusion- A solid experience especially for a Grand opening! I'm going 4 stars for now, but I expect they'll do better once they work out the kinks. It'll be tougher to please me now that I'm no longer a virgin!

I ordered shrimp dinner basket with fries and cheese curds. The service took over 30 min which I thought took too long especially since I was the only one there. The shrimp and fries were fresh but the cheese curds were not so great they were cold. I've had fresh cheese curds before at Culver's and they taste delicious but this time I couldn't even eat these. The outside of the establishment was clean and neat even had a little sitting area outside.

It's been over five years since I reviewed these folks and yup, they have changed, for the better! Atmosphere- None! That's right none and you can thank the pandemic for that! The small dining room is shut down and the walk-up counter is almost completely enclosed in plywood which I sincerely hope is temporary. See my pictures. I did notice that everything is spotless. Food- I wanted to compare apples to apples so I ordered my go-to stuff that I get at my 1st choice joint. So, a small pork rice, fried dumplings, and Mongolian Beef. It cost within a buck of my other place so who cares. It was ready quickly and very nicely packaged. The fried rice was just fine and as far as I could tell, virtually the same as my other place. Much to my surprise, the dumplings were better! The count was the same but there was more and tastier filling! Another surprise was the Mongolian Beef as it was also better! Although you can't see it in my picture, it had bunches of those baby corns that I dearly love. It also had chopped cabbage which was unexpected but tasty! So, One item was the same and two were better! I may need to change my allegiance!

BTW- She's a real person and is on a mission to bring awesome Cuban food to Avon Park! Arriving- They are directly on Main Street where all parallel parking is free. Also, on the same side of the street, there is a free parking lot about a 5 second drive past the entrance. Hours- So many small restaurants in this area open for breakfast and lunch only. I'm delighted to say they are open for all three meals! Ambience- Yikes, this place is tiny! I'm thinking it will seat around 20 with a mix of 2-top and 4-top tables. Thankfully, they are well spaced. A nice touch was background Cuban music. Wi-Fi- It's available but only for the employees. This annoys me and other customers and Sophie needs to reconsider that decision. Customer Service- I was touched by two folks. My server was subdued but pleasant and efficient. The lady that cashed me out was friendly and I received a genuine smile and a thank you! Food- The menu is huge! If you'd like a headstart, it's beautifully presented on their website. There is Cuban, and Cuban- American food nicely organized. On this visit ordered a Three Meat Omelet with Cuban Toast @ 13.95. My omelet was one of the best I have ever had and cooked and plated with care. It was packed with savory meat and steaming hot and delicious. The Cuban Toast was perfect! This fine location is my closest for now, but they are building a new one in my teeny tiny town as I type this. Arriving- Directly on US Rout 27 North so easy peasy. As with most Wawa's it's very busy so slow down and be careful when you park. While you're there, take advantage of their two free air machines for your tires. They're famous for that! When you park, take notice that many close-in spaces are numbered. Ambience- Boatloads of gas pumps with good prices. Not always the best gas price but close and the great food makes up for it. Inside it is bright and cheery and clean. It's 99% take-out so don't plan on sitting inside. The App- I think it's great and I especially like Curbside Pickup! I like it so much that I rarely go inside anymore! Just park in a clearly numbered spot! Customer Service- I'm usually doing Curbside Pickup so it's just one delivery person. They are almost always on time and often a little ahead of the time specified in the app. I have never had an incorrect order. The delivery person is always friendly so five stars. Food- So, every kind of drink you can imagine, and an amazing choice of sandwiches along with pizza. Today I ordered a Classic Roast beef Sub with extra beef and an Iced Coffee which set me back at about $14. The choices available for your sub are more than in most places. I love that they have sweet peppers! It was cheerfully brought out to my car in about 12 minutes. It's delivered in a nice, reusable bag. As you can see from my pic this was a solid sub. The meat was plentiful and tender, and the toppings were very fresh. As usual, it was excellent! Conclusion- These guys are the top of the heap when it comes to convenience/gas chains.
