First time trying this place. Boy, I was surprised! The pizza was delicious, I ordered the thin crust cheese pizza and an order of the cheese breadsticks (special for $12). Great flavor! Good ingredients and excellent dough. Price is very competitive to the big pizza chains. I wish we had one in Miami but luckily there's one in Miramar. I'd definitely order again. Great job! Keep up the good work!

This alone was worth $8...everything else was just as shameful as good gravy.

Let's be honest, this is a 3.5 star experience if you take it at face value. Average tasting pizza amongst other carb-rich tomatoey, buttered and cheesed or meated-up simple items that leave you feeling ashamed shortly after consumption. But forgetting that, I had a great waitress and the staff did an excellent job of keeping the lines tidy. My biggest fear was that this place was going to be as gross as a Chuck E Cheese with pizza as bad as Marco's. So thankful that combo didn't surface! For what it's worth (~$10) I felt this stop was justified by the salad bar alone. It's not a Sweet Tomatoes inspired spread, but it was spectacularly fresh and orderly. That takes effort and good management, so my hat goes off to them. After reading some other reviews, I feel stupid for not ordering a specialty pizza to the line like I had done at Cici's up north. Next time I won't be so ignorant...and there will be a next time.

Clean. Friendly staff. Buffet that includes a great salad bar, variety of pizzas (you can also order a pizza for them to put out), dessert pizzas, pasta and soups. Plenty for every one to enjoy. Great value! No waiting. Drinks are not included but free refills and many to choose from. This was our first time here after a long day of shopping with the family - it was a nice dinner before heading home to bed. We will be back! Our favorite was the pepperoni pizza. My 8 year old son was in love with the salad bar. I enjoyed the apple pie pizza! My husband enjoyed the soups and the iced tea. Prices: $8 adult, $5 kids, drinks $2.50 for adults $1.50 for kids. They also have the option to order items off their menu (wings....etc) and they have pizza to go ($5 for one pizza, $10 for two pizzas...)

Hubby got his usual drink, and I got my coconut Mojito, but this time in a fancy tiki glass. Learned that they're only served indoors, as we have only eaten at the bar or outside by the beach. Got our standard ahi tuna poke nachos, Yum, and a dozen chargrilled oysters, Yum Yum! Hubby and I shared Joe fish tacos, grilled, and they were delicious as always The change in tonight's meal with Jenna "parading" ( ok, not exactly true...) through the restaurant with HUGE brownie sundae s--3 if I recall correctly. Now, I am not a big chocolate fan at all, in fact, I avoid chocolate, yuck, and hubby has to watch his sugar, but when she told me about bananas foster bread pudding-- well, you can see where this is headed! We have never had room for dessert before, and tonight was no exception, but I was enticed by Jenna, and then Kayleen , so...OMG! Absolutely delicious! A bit sweet, but we finished the ice cream and the bananas and a little bit more than that, and got the rest to go. So glad that this is literally about a mile and a half down the road from us, so maybe next time. ;) Also, love the cute merch: jewelry, stickers, T-shirts, caps, stuffed animals, lotion, etc., etc.

Date of Visit: 05/24/2026…read more It was Sunday over Memorial Day weekend and we decided to make a trip to the Ellenton Mall for the afternoon. For being the holiday weekend the traffic was mild, made it over the Skyway and to the mall in no time. After our walk around we were hungry and walk over to the cheese steak place, which is awesome by the way, but they are closed on this Sunday. Dang. That's when I remembered the place on the river. We had already been to one of them and wanted something new. And Whiskey Joe's was it. Leaving the mall and getting there was easy. And once you turn it's at the end of the road. First time here so we weren't sure of the lay-out. There is inside as well as a tiki-bar area. We made our way to the tiki bar since it was a nice day with a breeze. After sitting we were quickly attended to. However there was only the one guy running the tiki bar so we knew to be patient. After he made a round he came back and had our drinks and taking our food order. Since I had a burger yesterday, you would know this if your following me, I wanted something different. I chose the blacken chicken w/fries and the wife ordered the Caribbean salad. I really don't know how long it took to arrive, we were enjoying the view and nice breeze. Then our food came, presentation was good. I didn't take off for the fries, I'd rather have them not coated, these were like Checkers fries. Some people like them that's why I didn't take points off I still had some. Though I did like the chicken very much, it was so juicy. And Like others have noted, the blackening here is just the seasoning not the actual act of blackening. I'm still waiting to go somewhere where they actually blacken it. Now the wife just loved her salad. It too came with chicken only hers had Caribbean seasoning and juicy as well. We only stayed for lunch and a beverage. It is a great place to stop after the mall. Peace.

Sat at the bar which had menus already placed which was pretty smart I thought. The bartender returned and took my drink order before scurrying off to take more orders and clean tables for a slow steady stream of customers entering the front door. Sitting at the bar looking around the restaurant looked old. The bar was rough possibly needing new finish and everything else inside looked like it was installed 20 years ago and hasn't been refreshed. On the third dash by where I was sitting the bartender brought the beer I ordered, took my food order and with the waiting area full - help from the back came out and then things seemed to calm down a bit. It wasn't too long before the burger and tots came out and honestly it was a really nice burger. Tasted good, cooked right and presented well. Maybe it was the second beer talking? (Beer is two for one - FYI) Anyway - very busy place - driven possibly by the inexpensive Tuesday specials but regardless - good food, rough restaurant and stressed employees trying to keep it all moving. 3.5/5

In addition to my food, it also came with a few huge corn fritters, which were tasty and super moist. The ribs and pulls pork were very tasty the mac and cheese was ok, but no better than what you'd get from the blue box, but the potato salad was a bit more authentic. He purchased a Tastee Donut franchise at the age of 18 and operated it successfully for several years. When he saw the business generated by a KFC next door he ditched the donuts for chicken. The restaurant was originally named Chicken on the Run before Copeland renamed it Popeye's after Gene Hackman's fictional detective character Popeye Doyle in the French Connection. Popeye's is a popular destination for their spicy chicken and buttermilk biscuits. They are also known for their limited time menu items that generate buzz. They have now grown to more than 2,000 locations all over the world including Korea, Canada, and Turkey. Seventy percent of the locations are in Texas, California, Louisiana, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Georgia, Virginia and Mississippi. We ended up having lunch from this Popeyes by chance. We were visiting the Gamble Plantation across the street and had just missed a tour which takes place every hour. Unfortunately you can't join it once it is in progress. With an hour to kill and having missed lunch we spotted the Popeyes and made it across the street (barely). The restaurant looked clean and there was a bit of a line but we waited patiently. As I watched other people get helped I could see this was not like other Popeyes I have been in. It seemed like it was being run by the most inept people. For instance they couldn't find a customer's large phone order and they kept a food delivery person waiting and waiting. While we were in line another customer started shouting obscenities at them. It was all rather humorous but time was ticking and our hour was drifting away. Finally it was our turn to order and we waited quite a bit longer for the food. When I opened the box it wasn't even right. They had to give me my tenders in another box but let me keep the 3 piece I didn't want. They also didn't have their signature menu item, rice and beans which my friend wanted. We ended up bringing the extra food for the park rangers at the Gamble Plantation. By the time we made it back across the street we only had a few minutes to eat before the tour. The food was tasty but I would recommend avoiding them unless you want a good story have a lot of time.

The sauce in the wings is non existent as it's all soaked up in the wings. You want more.. that will be an extra $1.49 sir. I bought extra fiesta sauce cause I know I'll need it but no lime and no pico de gallo. Is it because I didn't pay extra for that? Also do we have to buy celery for our wings too? I ate three wings (well tried to.. it's like chewing on dried semi spicy jerky). Though the ranch was good. But still.. I can't eat them. Atleast enjoyably. So sadly this will definitely be my last time ordering from Applebees. I can't believe I spent $35 on dried chicken with no pico, lime or celery. If you see this Applebees.. make it right please.
