The vibe of this place in between the plaza is sooo perfect! Secluded enough to have good conversation at a normal volume. I was shocked when we arrived for a 7:00 dinner for two and the hostess asked a single guest to move to a table with another single guest to accommodate us. We did not ask or want this. The waiter took our drink order and I asked him about the menu, as it is not the same as the one on their website. The lasagna with beef ragu ( their specialty) is now made with ground beef , Italian sausage and bacon. After receiving our drink order, waitstaff didn't come back for about 30 minutes. I was a bit put off when I realized the seating was in the courtyard but don't let that stop you. We were seated in the passage way since they were trying to accommodate a large group. While I was worried we would be forgotten, that worry was misplaced. They started us with some warn focaccia bread. We skipped the appetizers and jumped to a couple of specials. The first was a homemade lasagna which my wife described as "not that heavy American lasagna". The second was a shrimp and scallop pasta with white cream sauce. Both were great. hello,we were told about this restaurant by friends ,saying that the food is really good ,so the other night we went for dinner ,the restaurant opens at 5pm ,we got there a few minutes after and the place was packed already with people,we were told by the owner 'maurizio' that there was at least an hour wait,,it is a very small place probably sitting of ten tables or less ...anyway we decided to wait ,once things slow down a bit we were offered wine and appetizers ,when we the order the food took a while to arrive but it was well worth it ,it was very good .i had the gnocchi and my wife had the tagliolini aglio e olio ....for dessert we opted for cannolis although maurizio said the tiramisu is made in house ,anyway the little cannolis were good ...so my friends in closing this is very important to remember going there. IT is a popular place with limited seating ,they do not take reservations so if you get there and the place is busy you will have to wait ,,is it ok to wait yes the service is good and the food is excellent...be patient and you will be rewarded with fantastic food and great hospitality that is really the most important thing you must keep in mind going there,it's not mcdonald microwave junk ,good food takes time to prepare ,,buona fortuna, buona vacanza e buon appetito !!!!! viva l'italia !!!! read more

What a gem! We agree with the previous reviews. Absolutely fantastic! We have been coming to AMI for 13 years and this meal and experience was in the top 2. Mauricio and wife, Luciana, were delightful hosts. The food was deliciously fresh and made with love. We had the special which was homemade spaghetti served with mild Italian sausage sautéed with prosciutto, white wine and a touch of cream. We also sampled the lasagna and will def come back for more homemade lasagna and tiramisu! Special thank you to Damaris for running after our car to return my sister's cell phone.
