****Disappointing Father's Day update**** Saw they had specials so we swung by to check things out. The 14oz black garlic ribeye really caught my-eye. Bread was incredible as always, and the ribeye looked amazing. The black garlic tasted incredible. But, seems to always be a but, I left probably a little over 1/3 of it on the plate. Gristle, gristle and more gristle. I understand some fat on prime rib, but OMG, when you cannot saw through it with a steak knife, that's not digestible. Manager stopped by and I pointed that out and she said she would talk to the kitchen about "watching their cuts"..... but (another but), no comp, no discounts, no apologies for the plate full of gristle that went back to the kitchen. Two meals (well, 1-1/2 meals and gristle), one drink and +$100. That was disappointing. Back down from 5 stars to 4 stars. I would have done 3 stars but I think I should have known better. Black garlic sauce covers a lot of shiny white gristle lines. read more

Another great dinner at Wheat + Water! We came for a birthday dinner for myself and my brother. Everything we ate was delicious! Our server gave us some great suggestions. The shrimp bruschetta was an amazing new dish for us today. We also loved the calamari with the lemon sauce! The other dishes we had were the chicken tosca, champagne chicken, sanchetti pasta, chicken parm, and the shrimp and scallop dish. Highly recommend the tosca. It was very cheesy with the parm coating. Love the fresh pasta as a side. Love that everything is homemade. Even the sourdough bread is amazing! read more

This was our go to place for good food at a good price. Though we've noticed the last few times that we were there the service was not good. The last two times we had the bar tender as our waiter. This time they were out of pasta. An Italian restaurant that runs out of pasta?? I hope they get their act together because we really liked it before. read more

Finally an Italian restaurant that is gluten free friendly! I first went there and had the Eggplant parm with risotto and a caeser salad. It was delicious. I enjoyed it so much I went back the next night for the veal parm and the chef prepared a sauted calamari which was fafabulous. The veal was delicious as well. If only they had Italian Cheesecake. Regardless if you are looking for something gluten free or not you should try this place. You won't disappointed. read more

Just wanted to remind everyone that this is a fantastic place to get Italian food! They've been struggling a bit lately with lack of power issues and being forced closed but when they can reopen please keep them in mind for some fantastic meals! A very fun and friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff that really make an extra effort to treat you right and give you an all around enjoyable experience! I went for dinner last night and was really impressed with the food. I ordered the cauliflower crust pizza and wasn't expecting much TBH. Whatever we anticipated when we walked into this strip mall Italian restaurant was immediately turned on its head as we caught a glimpse of the spectacular entrees that skirted past us as we waited for our table. The boot-country-tinged drinks, like the Italian Cosmo and Italian Mule, were strong and tasty. The Caprese Salad's pesto stole the show. Our picky child enjoyed the kid's pizza, with just the right singed crust, cheese, and sauce. The Chicken Prosciutto was a delight, both light and deep with flavors of the prosciutto and the perfectly cooked chicken breast. The Short Ribs have a deep and rich flavor from the six hours of slow cooking and perfectly compliment the risotto. Our server, Kat, while being pulled in every direction possible, was attentive and warm. We will be back every chance we get! read more

If you are a putenesca fan, this is your ticket! Exciting, bold, rich flavors just like it was intended. Plenty of ingredients Ike the original Italian recipe. I've eaten here many times and have found most dishes to be good, while a few just "OK", but this Putenesca was simply outstanding! Prices are typical, service is responsive...generally crowded at dinnertime. Ambiance only average, but not too loud. Ordered short ribs with risotto and while the short ribs were tender the presentation was a complete turnoff with the other two in my party thinking "glad I didn't order that!" Ricotta kinda ringed the plate with beef in the middle and gravy covering it all-no color, no fresh green like a fresh sprig of parsley or several green beans or asparagus/just brown. I thought per the internet if you ordered before 5 there would be some specials available at a reduced price and when I brought it up with the waitress and she went to inquire came back saying "he/they had tried to change it but could not seem to change or erase. Beer, 2 wine selections were available at a price reduction. Management should honor the website information until they do make the change.Disappointed customer and misleading marketing! read more

First and foremost the waitress we had was sweet and attentive, now the prices for what you get are definitely not fitting. Let's talk about the food we tried this restaurant about 6 months ago and told ourselves we must try one more time and tonight we did. We ordered the meatballs, lasagna, and gnocchi with short ribs, last visit was 3 different dishes and let's clarify that this is not authentic Italian food believe me when I tell you. We lived in NY and Toronto, we also have family in Italy so we understand Italian food and this is not it, moreover the sauce was acidic and what is the deal with the ricotta on everything. I'm sure the owner might be a good person and what not, but not the greatest at cooking Italian food. The ambiance was ok but a little noisy. Let's make this review short and to the point. I was not at all pleased with this restaurant. Randomly chose to take my hubby here because he loves Italian food. This is not at all authentic Italian food. Service and food was below average. Our server was awkward and clueless . Forgot to place our order and then our food came out at different times. I ordered sausage, peppers, and onions. Underwhelming to say the least. Sausage link was whole and seated on red sauce. Food was also cold. Husband ordered bolognese which was hot but he said it was okay. Ambiance was nice and the inside was small and intimate. What I did not like was that the service appeared to show subtle prejudice toward us when observing there interactions with other tables. On the expensive side and I am not sure why as the quality of the food did not match. We will not return or recommend. read more

I went to this restaurant this past Friday 8/22/2025 for dinner. My Boyfriend and I ordered the chicken marsala. Parts of the chicken was tuff and hard to cut ,and the mashed potatoes were luke warm ,but did have a nice taste.The meal was 28.00 each and should have been worth that money spent. Perhaps I'm hard to please coming from New York and knowing firsthand what real Italian food tastes like! I do not recommend this restaurant unfortunately. I'm very disappointed with this experience. Excellent restaurant, about 4.5 stars in my book. I give them five due to great ingredients and quantity of food. The restaurant has contemporary interior design. Great for date night. Dinner table set as candlelight when light dim. We started with salad and soup. The soup is northern italo special. It is great with cold weather My entree is Shrimp and Scallops Adriatica. The dis has five shrimps and for scallops. The scallops are big enough with good grilled technique. The shrimp are giant. It was grilled and delicious to have. My wife have Fire Grilled Shrimp Risotto. This dish risotto was cook in seafood broth. It also come with 5 big grilled shrimps on top. The food is delicious, the seafood that give is top grade. My niece ordered from out of state & had grilled salmon, garlic mashed potato & green beans. Crusty fresh bread and chocolate cake too. It was delivered to my home. Everything was cooked or baked to perfection. The salmon was cooked just right and very moist, the potatoes and beans were so tasty. The cake was moist and rich. The whole meal was so fresh and just fantastic! Best birthday meal ever. I will be coming to dine in, in the future. I highly recommend the food here. The food is always delicious, and comes to the table exactly as we ordered it!! I had the Cauliflower Pizza, as I usually do, because it's the best in all of Florida!!!! Since we knew we'd be visiting the Bradenton area soon, I searched Yelp for a nice restaurant in the area. Luckily for us, I found Wheat + Water! This little Italian place in a shopping center was outstanding! We dined early so we were able to take advantage of Happy Hour. $4 for house wine was a great deal. For appetizers, my wife and I took our server, Rob's suggestion and went with the spinach artichoke dip. It was so good with the toasted Italian bread! My father-in-law had the sausage appetizer which he loved (side note...sausage from Chicago)! For entrees, I had the lamb Ragu and my wife had angel hair pasta with clams. Both dishes were delicious as were my in-laws. We left the restaurant knowing we'd be back next time we visited FL! Everyone at the restaurant was very friendly. So my wife wanted to check this place out after reading the reviews. I'll just bullet point the overall experience: - The hostess was great and very welcoming when we came in. She is probably the best part of this review. - The restaurant is very nice on the inside. They keep the area clean and quickly bust tables. - Our server was awkward, but very friendly. He did his best in describing the menu and answering questions. My issue with him began when he put in my wife's order like an appetizer instead of as her entree, even though we requested both of our meals come out together. Before that, he failed to put our food in when we initially ordered, almost like he forgot to put it in for about 10 minutes. We were about one of 5 other tables around, which it was also noticeable how attentive he and the other server were of those other tables as we didn't receive anywhere close to that same level of service. - The food was just ok. My wife ordered sausage, peppers & onions. It came out with an uncut sausage link sitting in sauce. Definitely wasn't plates or presented well. I had the lasagna bolognese, which was decent, but I've had better. Overall, it was a forgettable experience. You could tell the other patrons and two servers had some elements of prejudice to them. The restaurant and food itself felt very corporate, not at all like authentic Italian food, and wasn't plated well. Definitely not interested in dining here or the area again. read more

The place had a lot of good reviews and pics. Thought that we would give this place a try for birthday. We were immediately greeted when we entered our party was greeted and seated. We were asked if our first time and were told about the specials. The atmosphere was great, lived the pictures and great smells. Our party orders was as follows: calamari, Caesar salad, penne Ala Vodka w sausage, penne pesto, Gnocchi with short ribs, and penne Alfredo with chicken. All the portion sizes were good with left overs boxed for another day. The pasta was cooked perfect and flavors complemented the meal. I didn't not understand what's all the fuss about this place. Unless if you ate typical American frozen meal your entire life, then maybe. The bruschetta came up as garlic pieces of bread that you have to cover yourself with some type of canned tomato sauce with a piece of goat cheese swimming in it. That's not bruschetta. Or if it is, you never been to Italy. The alla vodka pasta were more like garlic pasta with no vodka sauce. All the reviews on their website are either fake or frankly from people who have zero culinary class. I know it sounds rude but a food critic would give it zero star. Regardless if you want to support a local business or not that is not a reason to give stars to a restaurant. This place it not worth 5. Sorry. read more

I ordered take out from this place after passing it 50 million times and i was excited to try but for 90 dollars for a sub par meal for three people i could have passed. I ordered the short rib with risotto. First off the short rib was tender and good for the most part but the risotto was soupy. See pic. I did NOT enjoy that. Then the risotto balls were just not good to me. The taste was off and they were a bit greasy. My daughter liked the lasagna and my husband like the shrimp and scallop Alfordadadada whatever the name is. Overall pretty disappointing. Will not return. Sad story. read more
