Wife & I have had problems in the past with some of the local dental offices. We did lots of…read moreresearch before making our decision to choose Academy Dental. We were very happy with each phase of our first day with this company. They set us up with their 1st available appointment that was over a month out, but put us on a call earlier list if there is a cancellation. This was great for us, because as retirees we could be available at a days notice. Both of us got calls to come in earlier than our scheduled appointments. Front desk staff were very efficient at processing Maggie & I as 1st time patients. The dental team makes the 1st appointment 2hrs long to do a very thorough exam. They want your input to get your level of involvement in the dental care process. The equipment they have is top of the industry standard. It gives the patient a good view of dental issues, allowing a more knowledgeable choice by patient & Dentist. We never felt pressured to additional care that wasn't truly required at the present time. We were given a break down priority list of items needed & told they would work with us on payment steps based on the priority list. Even given discounts on how payments can be made. I see them on Monday for 1st step in fixing some of my issues. We highly recommend this Dental Care Family

I am giving this location one star solely because the clinical staff who took care of my teeth and…read morethe initial phone receptionist were polite and kind. Otherwise, they deserve zero stars for their completely unprofessional front desk behavior and terrible management. I took a half-day off work for a 3:30 PM appointment. While I was already frustrated by being charged at every consecutive visit, I asked the front desk staff member, Cole, for a clear explanation of the billing. He gave me a completely cold reception. While we were trying to resolve a payment issue due to an expired card, I called their office line to find an alternative way to pay. While explaining to the phone representative that the front desk wasn't explaining the charges clearly, Cole interrupted and defensively snapped that he had already explained it. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional. While we both may have been having a stressful day, his customer service was completely unacceptable. Hoping to resolve the situation, I tried to schedule an appointment with the manager last Thursday to explain what happened. I was promised a callback from management that never came. Instead, when I arrived for my scheduled appointment the following week, I was told they had canceled my appointment and would no longer service me. While I respect that businesses have their own policies and I have no desire to return, their complete lack of communication and failure to address a customer service issue is deeply disappointing. My advice to anyone visiting this clinic: If you are having a stressful day, need billing clarity, or simply have questions about where your money is going--do not ask. If you question them or ask too many questions, expect to be dropped as a patient

Only thing that I viewed as a concern was that the actual dentist did not introduce herself to the patients before getting a look into their mouth... . I have a bit of anxiety about dental visits, so when I finally got up the courage to make an appointment I searched Yelp! for the best in ABQ. Sandia Heights Dental Care showed up and so I trusted my fellow Yelpers and made an appointment. So glad to say everyone was right and this is a great facility! The first thing you should know is this dental office seems pretty busy and they are about a month out on scheduling appointments, so if you are considering going in call them now! The office was clean and professional and all of the staff were friendly and efficient. You can tell by the way they interact with each other that everyone works well together and they are a tight team. I told my technician I have a bit of anxiety and she was understanding and compassionate. She quickly took the edge off with a gentle touch and calming chit chat. She listened to my concerns and explained each step in great detail. The appointment went great and I booked not only my next cleaning for later this year, but also an appointment to discuss Invisalign, because this clinic does it all! I even grabbed a handful of business cards for my dental phobic friends. I highly recommend going here whether you are just looking for a new dentist or have some anxiety like myself.

After the first appointment where I explained that I hoped my new dentist would help with my aligner care, I got a sense the dentist (Navbir Aurora) wasn't not enthusiastic about addressing my need, but reluctantly agreed to reschedule me (they didn't have the parts needed). After the second appointment (that took about 3 minutes total) where the dentist (Navbiv Aurora) created spaces between my teeth to ensure my teeth were moving as they should, he said to me in a condescending tone "I am not supposed to help you because you initiated care somewhere else. I am doing it as a courtesy, I am not supposed to do it" and he walked out of the room. He went on to attack me because I happened to ask if all necessary spaces were created between the teeth. It's my mouth, my health - I have the right to ask clarifying questions and receive reassurance, but basic questions triggered his fragile ego and he got defensive. He then really wanted to make sure I knew and felt that my issue and my care wasn't important to him and that he was bothered by it and his demeanor showed it. It was a put down. No follow up plan, no goodbye- just left the room after a snarky arrogant remark. That conversation made me feel shocked and confused, and I told the assistant who was in the room and witnessed the conversion that the exchange didn't make me feel welcome here as a patient. Why did he have to reiterate multiple times that helping me was not what he was supposed to do? This is the only Aspen in town- who is supposed to help me then!? The dentist who is also the practice owner made me feel like a bother, a waste of his time. The assistant brought the dentist back to the room who immediately said "That's not what I said- I didn't say you aren't welcome here" to which I replied that he made me feel extremely unwelcome by his comments and that I would appreciate a different kind of attitude toward my situation. He replied coldly and vengefully "you are done here. Go back to Vegas and receive your care there. I am done with you" That was terrifying and scary. I have never experienced this type of harrowing customer service and arrogant condescending attitude from any medical professional in my life. Especially coming from a practice owner who could try caring about people, their dental problems, his reputation a little more or at least pretend to. The scenario felt like this: "you aren't bringing any money to my business , you are another dentist's problem (even from another Aspen), so I will make sure you know your care isn't important here and we are doing you a tremendous favor" And when you bring up that his behavior makes you feel unwelcome, he will try to flex his muscles, show his temper knowing he is the only Aspen dentist in town and will blatantly kick you out of his office knowing that you are left with no options in town since Motto aligners are specific only to the Aspen chain. I was told that transferring care wouldn't be a problem because Aspen is a chain, but this local Aspen owner feels bothered finishing up someone else's work for free, will be very explicit about it, will rub it in your face to make you feel bad and will kick you out as a customer when you bring up an issue just because he feels like it. This is not normal behavior from a dentist/business owner. I feel bad for his staff-they all seem like really nice well-meaning people and I am sorry that they have to work with him (Navbir Aurora)and be subjected to conceited, emotionally volatile and unprofessional behavior from their boss with a superiority complex. They all seemed so helpless. Shame on you, sir. Shame on you. What a disappointment and disgrace.
