Second Generation Arborist

We mainly access our property from one side and often miss things going on on the opposite side. No…read moreone's fault but ours, we recently came to the realization we were long overdue for a good trimming. I looked everywhere for an arborist and came across Second Generation in various social media groups. After further research and cross-referencing, I decided to give them a call for an estimate. Meagan came out to assess what needed to be done and, after discussing the details of how they approach problems, take precautions to prevent damage and disease, meticulously clean up after themselves, etc., I hired Second Arborist to take care of our problem trees, a total of seven, and lift the canopy to allow more sunlight to reach our flower beds and lawn, and give everything a nice refresh. Her small team of professionals even ensured we were completely satisfied with their results before leaving. We couldn't be happier with outcome. Next time, before of calling on someone with free time and a chainsaw (as we have also done in the past!), give Second Arborist a call. They'll do a great job at a very reasonable cost!

I really appreciate Second Generation Arborist for taking the time to get it right. You can absolutely tell they are not in it for the money but they are in it to make a difference!!!!

By the…read moretime I moved in they hadn't thinned at all nor trimmed out of arm's length in that time; ball moss everywhere. I didn't get on it immediately partly because of my schedule and health, also because beneficial critters need somewhere to live and I personally don't like suburban neighborhoods cosplaying as golf courses. But the smaller trees were being crowded out and the march of the ball moss continued and it was just time. C and his brother ran late for the original consult but everything else was perfect. Polite, enthusiastic even though they work on some huge old heritage trees--BIG jobs for big names--and this was just a little cluttered lot, a day's work for a team when they usually require two. It was important to me when he said "this is what we love doing, going in and saving trees [for the long term]." The day of? Smooth as glass. Missed one small thing on the list but did at least two others that weren't requested for the price quote. They cleaned up after themselves, they worked around circumstances, and they did that under their own steam because I was out of commission with a severe migraine. Stump from the sizable cedar they removed? What stump? No tripping hazards here, and no possum picnic table kind of stump like another removal company left in my neighbor's yard. It felt great hiring local, the price was fair, and we're happy with the results.

I chose Texas Hill Country Trees because their reviews and ratings were the strongest, simple as that. Our backyard is all artificial turf and rock, so I was nervous about damage. Jeff sent a quote within 24 hours, included his insurance, and reassured me they work over turf all the time. That alone gave me peace of mind. The quote was fair, and the crew came out the very next day. They showed up on time, got straight to work, and every single person was professional. Before anyone looks at the photos I'm posting, I want to point something out. I knew going in that I'd have some cleanup to do afterward. With the amount of work needed, especially grinding down the stump, I wasn't expecting the area to look perfect. They're tree trimmers, removers, arborists, not landscapers. And honestly, considering the work involved, they left the space in great shape. The rest is just me doing the final touches so it looks the way I prefer it. Blame it on my OCD. As for the one‑star review calling Jake rude, I'm sure there are two sides to that story, because my experience with him was completely different. I arrived about an hour after they started, and Jake introduced himself immediately. He walked me through what they were doing and explained how they were protecting the turf. He was professional the entire time. I HIGHLY recommend Texas Hill Country Trees. Don't let one angry review scare you off, my experience from start to finish was excellent.

Jake, an employee of Texas Hill Country Trees LLC, along with the crew operating truck TL-926669,…read moreacted in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. The crew blocked my driveway while performing work in the neighborhood and showed little regard for common courtesy or respect toward neighboring residents. Before the issue escalated, I politely informed the crew that I would be leaving soon and that they would need to move their vehicle. I initially allowed them additional time to continue working. However, after they ignored my requests made from my front doorway, I was forced to approach Jake and the crew directly to clarify what they were doing was illegal and I need to go to work. Despite my repeated requests, they became argumentative and used profanity toward me, including calling me a "bitch," when I confronted them and insisted that they stop blocking my driveway and move their vehicle immediately. When I arrived home approximately five to six hours later, I discovered several trash bags filled with organic waste left on my side of the alleyway located between their client's residence (my neighbor's property) and my own. The waste appeared to have been left behind by the crew, further demonstrating a lack of professionalism, consideration, and proper cleanup practices. I found the behavior of both Jake and partially the crew to be highly disrespectful, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Please do your due diligence when hiring so called, "professionals."
