NEVER GET A LOAN THROUGH HUNTINGTON PLEASE! Especially if it's Kirk Ruddle! I applied for a loan after telling them that I worked in the cannabis industry, telling them that I've been working in the industry for 3 years. He gave me a pre-approval and It took him until the day of our inspection before he informed us that he couldn't work with us because of where I worked. Keep in mind that I already told him where I worked and that we were applying for a Conventional loan and not an FHA for this exact reason. Then when I asked him "Why are you only telling me this now?" His only response was "I just didn't notice". It's a level of incompetence that was not just shocking, but Infuriating. We have been paying on our Huntington Mortgage for over a decade now. We paid the August 2025 payment on line like we always do on 28 July 2025. The payment was not applied to the Mortgage payment, it was applied to the principal instead. Huntington sent a notice on 19 August 2025 that we had not made our August payment. After hours of being sent around in circles and being told inaccurate information we were told that the payment was applied to the principal balance because we paid 4 days early. We were promised the payment would be applied correctly on 20 August 2025. We were then told on 22 August 2025 it would be corrected on 25 August 2025. Today is 26 August 2025 and the payment has not been corrected. We were told we needed to make a second payment for August and we are only days away from our September payment being due. Our online account access to pay our mortgage has been locked so now we must pay at the bank in person. The branch office does not have access to the mortgage account and will only accept an August and September payment at the same time. This is an error created and unresolved by Huntington National Bank. During the last five days we have been redirected to frivolous departments, lied to, and intentionally given incorrect information and promises of resolution to this issue with no action being taken by Huntington to rectify this issue. Hunting is not accepting responsibility for their error and instead of cooperating to resolve their error are demanding an extra payment and further delaying the correction of their error. read more

I dunno.......where do I start? So many issues with Huntington AS A WHOLE...INITIALLY, in 2015, when I purchased my first home, Huntington was NOT my choice, but due to inefficient professionalism with the realtor, Huntington was next in line for possible home loan. I received an excellent fixed APR...fast forward to 2016-ish and I was out of work for a few months, depending on my (then) husband to pay (not all, but most of) bills/mortgage and we fell behind on the mortgage by I think 8 or 9 months. Foreclosure process began - and I was doing everything I could think of to correct this wrong...I discovered the Home Savers Program with Huntington and that saved my home. However, over the years, my monthly payment has yo-yo'd all over the place, starting less than $500 in the beginning, all the way to just under $700, then with the Home Savers it went back down to $447 for almost 2 or 3 years, and now, it is back up over $525/month...and I am on a fixed income as a disabled Navy vet, divorced, and though making this payment is not really an issue at this point, any time I have a question regarding ANYTHING about my mortgage, getting transferred to the correct department THE FIRST TIME SEEMS TO BE THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM................customer service reps are limited on their information and I seem to get the one that THAT DAY THAT I CALL IN WITH A QUESTION IS THEIR FIRST TIME ANSWERING THE PHONE. I am currently in the process of trying to get one question answered regarding some misinformation that is listed on my online account and the "Sales" history of my home.........and I have been trying for over a week now to get someone on the phone who can answer why this WRONG SALE AMOUNT/DATE OF SUPPOSED SALE is even listed...................one girl told me the other day when I called in about this that the information I was referring to wasn't "real...kinda like your credit score, you know, it's different depending on who is doing the numbers..." Only giving one star because it's required. Huntington Mortgage group- specifically Mortgage Officer C. Jarrett Shiring was absolutely terrible to work with to purchase our first home. Finance wise we were in a good place and it should have been a fairly seamless process as we were purchasing a new build home (no seller to negotiate or deal with). Huntington was a preferred lender to Westport homes at the time we signed our contract to have the home built, which further made us believe this was the right choice. First of all, it was very hard to communicate with anyone at Huntington when we had questions- as a first time home buyer would. Every time we were sent an estimate for our mortgage Jarrett would have slightly different numbers. When we asked if this was an issue, Jarrett said not at all and these were not final so we believed him and continued on. When it came time to close we found out days before that there was an issue we did not know about. After Jarrett lied and told us it was an issue with inspection/appraisal (even though all items had already been approved by the state), we found out that Jarrett had unknown to us, changed our down payment amount which caused the closing documents to be delayed and therefore our closing was delayed. It was an awful first experience for my husband and I and caused hours of phone calls and going back and forth between our builder and the lender to figure out the root of the issues which turned out to be Jarrett's lies. I caution anyone looking to get a mortgage to avoid Huntington completely and especially C. Jarrett Shiring. You can expect poor service, high closing costs and fees, poor rates. Another thing to note- Westport homes ended their partnership with Huntington shortly after we signed for our home and said they too were dissatisfied with how their customers were treated by Huntington. read more

Be wary of seeking a mortgage loan with Huntington. My mortgage was sold from Advantage Bank to Huntington in 2014, and Huntington made an additional payment from my escrow account for Franklin County Property Taxes. Huntington sent me customer activity statements dating back to 2010, and I was able to show them the date of the additional transaction. I also contacted Franklin County Treasurer Dept and they corroborated that they did not receive the additional transaction. I've been calling Huntington Loan research depart since 2017, and they keep closing the service ticket without resolution. As a customer, this is very disappointing. read more

Poor communication!!! They would rather call and complain to your realtor about missing documents than communicate with the buyer. They constantly misplace imaged/emailed documents. Being a first time home buyer with Huntington is not the place to be. No direction at all. Call with questions? Ha.. if you get a call back and the best of it all - wait until 24 hours before the scheduled closing to proclaim a "federal disclosure" which no one can name; which will delay the closing. They act like this is their very first mortgage ever processed. We are severely disappointed and will not refer anyone else to Huntington Mortgage (regionally based in Chillicothe, OH) Stephanie Adkins & "team"... we weren't told there would be a delay of 24-48 hours after the loan was cleared to close. I've just changed all the utility cutoff and start dates THIS MORNING! Now I have to turn around and do it all again. My stress level is off the chart. This has not been a smooth experience and the fact that Huntington is very slack in their end of communication. Beware of the down payment assistance program, they offer it but fail to tell you upfront that your interest rate will jump 1.5% higher. The bank ironically sends surveys asking how their doing and honestly there isn't enough space for me to list every one of their issues. read more

After my divorce all I could afford was a bank foreclosed fixer upper... and that is exactly what I got. Most mortgagers simply turned me away. Zach Lawrence at Huntington approved me for a rehab loan with construction draws. I was given a good interest rate and was able to move into a home & neighborhood that I simply couldn't afford otherwise. Huntington even found me a better insurance rate on my home & vehicles. Very Atrocious Treatment......I would give it negative stars if I could.I had a very rough experience trying to pay my house payment this month.Normally my husband and I would split the house payment and write two checks from our separate accounts -we both bank at Huntington and they both would normally would go through.However this month I decided to go by check and my husband decided to pay them in cash.The cash was accepted but my check was returned by them. They have accused me of only making a "partial"payment. I called to get that straightened out but all what the woman I spoke to was telling me that the company will not take partial payments and she was very condescending, unhelpful and she would not listen to me when I told her that it was a full payment via both cash and check.She also had the audacity to accuse me of being disruptive while I explained to her that it was NOT a partial payment. Her condescending attitude did not help when I was already very stressed out.This was NOT a "partial" payment (my husband's cash and my check equals one full payment).If we paid from one account we could be in danger of overdrawing because we both have limited funds in each of our accounts each month.I find this to be very inconvenient.It should not matter how the mortgage is paid monthly( 2 checks,cash,one full check et.) is paid each month as long as it is paid in full.In today's economy it is sometimes not practical to make one full payment from one particular account because many couples are limited on funds each and cannot afford the luxury of having large accounts-for example I am retired and on a fixed income and my husband is only paid bi weekly read more
