My hubby planned a weekend staycation in Santa Monica and chose for us to stay at Huntley. And overall, it was a phenomenal stay! We checked in on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed... we were a little concerned because of COVID, but all staff were following safety measures and most people were social distancing. Check in took almost 30 minutes, but we don't blame them. I think most people were just eager to be on vacation! The staff at the front desk / concierge were all very friendly and helpful. We loved our room! Some pros that comes to mind: - comfortable bed (medium firmness) and sheets - room comes with Nespresso machine and complimentary capsules - great shower pressure, beautiful bathroom - good lighting throughout the entire room - digital control pad to turn on and off lights - in-room iPad to order room service and other requests - valet service was fast and the runners did a great job - super central location -- just one block down from 3rd street promenade and of course a couple blocks from Santa Monica beach Cons: - fridge completely stocked with purchase-only items, so you're not able to store anything else in there - bed pillows could be a bit firmer, so I woke up with a sore neck All in all, we had an excellent stay and would most definitely return in the future. Despite being in the middle of a pandemic, Huntley made our weekend getaway very memorable and we felt very safe staying here. Refused to accommodate our family during our evacuation from the Malibu fire. Evacuated with my four and eight year old at 3:30 am and the hotel noted they had rooms but wouldn't accommodate a check in until 3:00 pm. Ultimately we found another hotel to take us in. We regularly go to the restaurant at the Huntley and am at a loss for words on how they had no flexibility to accommodate our family during a natural disaster evacuation. Amazing hotel!!! This hotel is steps from the water and about half a mile to the Santa Monica pier. The room was clean, the staff was nice, friendly, and accommodating. Our view from our room faced the water which was gorgeous. Their shower towels are SO soft, we ended up buying some online. Robes are in the bathroom to be used while you stay which was a nice touch. In-room bar was fully stocked with great options for everyone. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and we can't wait to come back. As a bonus, this hotel has a great restaurant called the Penthouse. Highly recommend if staying at the hotel. read more

I was in town for a work conference and was staying at the Huntley and in meetings all day using their board rooms. Check-in was a slowww process even at 2am at night. There was understandably only one employee working the front desk at that point. Interestingly they use Macbooks for all things related to check-in. I get that hospitality is a big deal at a hotel but I really didn't appreciate the extensive small talk that the employee was making with all the guests before me, extending the length of the wait at such an hour. There was hand sanitizer in the elevators which was nice. No maximum capacity for the elevators during Covid. Note that you do need your room key to be able to select a floor in the elevator. The hotel restaurant is located in the penthouse and is marked prominently. The welcome into the room was quite nice. Upon opening the door, all lights came on and the TV started up by itself with relaxing music and a welcome message with my name displayed. The room was tastefully decorated. Some highlights were the light switches - there was a lot of customization in what lights you had on or off as well as how bright or dim you wanted them. It was also a plus because you didn't have to fiddle with lamp switches. There is a bar in the room which charges based on weight so even if you pick up something to check on it, you will be charged. That was pointed out to me at check-in. There were also snacks there like candy, chips, and chocolate. Unsure if those are charged based on weight as well. There were a lot of outlets including USBs on the nightstands and the desks. Another feature of the room was a Nespresso machine (not a Keurig) so a little higher in class. There were a lot of towels stocked in the bathroom along with 2 sizes of robes. The robe was really fluffy ad comfortable! I made a note to myself to remember the brand of it so I could treat myself after. They're Frette and the ones at the hotel start at $390! The toiletries were by Bvlgari and most of the scents reminded me more of perfume than what you'd think of for soap. It was still pleasant, just a little bit strong. Now for one of the important parts - the bed! My bed was a king and pretty comfy. Soft but I wasn't swallowed into the bed so I still had some support. There were 4 pillows on the bed, all with slightly varying firmness (or maybe it was just my imagination). There was definitely at least one softer and one firmer pillow however. In terms of their meeting facilities, they did the job. The meeting room I was in had a huge TV screen and easy connectors that were built into the conference table. Drinks and water were always in the rooms and they were often serviced for refills. We were also in a main conference room that was directly connected to a patio. That would have been nice in warmer weather as we could leave the doors open for fresh air. One last tidbit is that the concierge actually warned me that going out at night around the area could be a little sketchy as the homeless population has grown recently. However, during the day it was an easy walk and safe walk to the waterfront. Overall a good location for sure! read more

Booked a king ocean view room and was very excited. Upon arrival was given a room upgrade with American Express to a king suite and was so excited. Unfortunately upon entering the room it smelled of cigarettes. Called front desk to inquire if we were on a smoking floor and was told its a non smoking hotel. I let them know the room smelled of cigarettes on day one of our stay and asked for someone to come fix the issue and didn't even get housekeeping to come until the third day. The suite number 913 was overall nice but looked dated and stains on carpet. On the 5th day I called again to inquire about the smell and was told a technician would come to the room and it would take 2 hours to clear out the smell and then a few hours with open windows to air our the chemicals from the machine they used. The technician did not arrive until late in the evening and the machine was still clearing out the room when we got back from dinner to turn in for the night. The technician told us a person stayed in the room previously for 2 weeks who smoked non-stop and was asked to leave the hotel, and they were supposed to fix the smell prior to anyone else staying in the room but didn't get to it. When I went to speak to front desk staff I was quite frustrated, demanded a hotel credit which was given as well as waived resort fee. (NOTE they charge $25 per day additional resort fee when there are no additional resort amenities). We also had to sleep in another room that night because whatever machine left a horrible chemical scent in the room. When I checked out I had a bill of over $100 and inquired about it with front desk to dispute it and they simply said I would not be charged. The hotel credit given only covered one breakfast on our last morning and upon check out the customer service was horrible. Note that Apple Maps says this hotel has a pool which it does not, when we asked where the pool was the staff sarcastically said "2 blocks to your right is the biggest pool in the world" referring to the ocean. Also says free breakfast which is also false. Breakfast at hotel costs about $70 for two people. read more

I've been to the penthouse for dining which has always been a marvelous experience. Being that I'm 8 months pregnant, I decided to staycation at the Huntley for 2 days to relieve stress & anxiety. I reserved a king bed city view room.... I got to my room and a used tray with another person name and a welcome letter was in my room. The city view and online pictures... did not match the actual room and view I got. It's a horrible view, no bath tub and no pool. I'm very disappointed! The clerk told me "by city view we mean the neighboring buildings" please look at this view outside my window of this little ass room. read more

Just got back from a stay at the Huntley Santa Monica. Located a few blocks away from the beach, this hotel is way more luxe than some of the options nearby. The rooms are spacious and provide a lot of room to spread out. One minor annoyance was the limited amount of counter space in the bathroom. The toiletries are Bvulgari and provided in eco-friendly containers. The rooms are equipped with mini bars with some great spirits and also plenty of Sugarfina. Best of all, there is Nespresso in the room. I also visited the Penthouse, which I wished was open past 10. There is a gym, but it is small. There are two treadmills, strider, and dumbbells. It is a bit tight if there is more than 3 people working out. However, nature's gym is also just outside. read more

Horrible experience at this extremely overpriced hotel. First: We check in and there is brown fluid all over the back of the toilet seat. I call to report this and was told "if it's not feces don't worry about it." I shouldn't have to worry if it's feces or not. There shouldn't be brown liquid on the back of the toilet seat. Second: we were told when we booked the hotel that there was a pool. When we get there we call to ask where the pool is and the operator tells us they don't have a pool. Mind you, I can see the pool from my hotel room. It's tiny but I can see it. I tell them there is a pool and they say "well yes there is but we don't have a permit from the city to use it." I ask to speak to the manager and she hangs up on me. The next day I see some kids swimming in the pool. I ask about the pool at check out and the guy at first says they don't have a pool. Then when I confront him and say I saw people using the pool he says: "well that must have been the owner's kids." So the owner's kids can use the pool but the people spending $500 per night in this overpriced hotel can't use it? Rules for thee not for me I guess. Absolutely disgusting behavior from the staff. I'd rate it 0 if I could. None of the pictures look like the actual rooms. The prices at the mini-bar are insane and you can find a wayyyy nicer hotel for a much cheaper price. read more

A very FUN location! I wanted to surprise my wife with a sort of cool staycation not too far from home. A quick search on the internet revealed this little oasis. I took a calculated risk since it was my first time staying here. I was informed over the phone by "Lana" that the hotel has undergone some remodeling and modern renovation. I loved my stay here because of the old school vibe and mystique. For less than 600, which includes all fees and 55 for valet parking, it was one of the BEST WEEKENDS I had last year. Most of 2020 was a real drag, however, my time with my wife, in December at the Huntley, made up for it. I was rejuvenated! Life and love remain precious. We had some of the best sleep of our lives at the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica Beach. The Premier King was very clean and really quiet. We walked to and around the S.M. Promenade for our meals since the Huntley is currently not offering dining options, due to the pandemic. You can order delivery too if that's your thing. We loved getting out and stretching our legs around town. It was fun and romantic. We worked up quite an appetite so we had a blast eating at different locations nearby. We enjoy tiny mom & pop delis as well as larger eateries like P.F. Chang's or Hillstone. There's tons of options on Wilshire Bl. which is walking distance from the hotel. The Promenade and the surrounding area have a multitude of food possibilities for you and your loved ones as well. It's a fun place to be and savor the moment. Groucho Marx has been quoted as saying, "I'm not crazy about reality, but it's still the only place to get a decent meal." I agree with this great comedian. Reality can be a tough pill to swallow sometimes, so for me, finding a great place to eat always helps it go down a little easier. The Huntley Hotel is a place where you can RELAX and take a deep breath. We all deserve a break once a while from the grind of life's challenges. Said outage extended far beyond the planned timeline which meant no WiFi, no hot water, and no operating elevators for more than half the day. This was food that remained stored without proper refrigeration for over 8+ hours that was going to be thrown out. Even if assuming the food didn't go bad, that still entailed a trip up 18 floors of stairs to the restaurant without being able to take a decent hot shower beforehand. Santa Monica am I right? We live close but wanted to avoid driving or a long Uber. The room was amazing and had a great view however we didn't ask for the bed bugs. The king bed was amicable if only we didn't wake up itching. We were given all the assurances that this establishment was top notch and it felt that way. Sadly we missed out on the primary commitment to excellence. Who wants to pay far beyond the standard hotel rate and obtain unwarranted bites from foreign entities. My wife and I got married last week at The Huntley hotel. The experience was exceptional and above board. Everyone, from the front desk to the valet team were super friendly and helpful. We had a small wedding and the venue was perfect. The hotel event planner, Mandy Amini and her sales coordinator, Staci Nakamoto were INCREDIBLE. The entire wedding started from the planning stage through the event went seamlessly. Mandi and Staci gently guided us through the entire process which went off without a hitch. I cannot speak enough about how incredibly satisfied we are with everyone at the Huntley. Most of our guests came from out of town and raved about the hotel, amenities and location. Great spot just two blocks from Ocean Blvd and near the famous Santa Monica pier. The location is also one block from the 3rd Street Promenade for shopping and food. Lastly, the Penthouse Restaurant on the top floor of the Huntley has amazing views of the ocean. Also, on Friday/Saturdays they have a DJ, which we attended right after our wedding- no reason to stop partying!! My wife and I highly recommend you consider The Huntley for a wedding or even just a great hotel to stay in while in Santa Monica. read more

Umm... this is NOT ... I don't even know how to put it in words. Let me start off with that everyone at this hotel was LIVID!! I get that one elevator wasn't working but waiting 30 min in a lobby with a crowd full of people is not ideal esp. during covid. Everyone was shoulder to shoulder, no physical distancing, the worker in the front wasn't even covering his nose with his mask... Elevator is four max... yea right, people were just jumping in there because they were tired of waiting... literally if you were in the elevator you were stopping at every floor. In addition, the stairs wasn't even an option because I had two toddlers on the 10th floor... Oh wait what no accommodation for waiting forever to get your car parked and you get charged $55 a night!! So let me sum it up... I had coffee stains that I had to clean up in my room, I was stuck in the car for 30 min so that I could get out and wait another 30 min with 40+ other people in a 25x25 square feet space.. then I get to go back into the crowd and wait for the elevator to be shoulder to shoulder with more peeps.. oh and did I mention you sign a covid release form... Hmm I wonder why? Because this place is not safe! In addition, I was on my way down with a lady carrying a bag with like 10 soda cans because she had to prove she only removed it from the mini bar because she wanted to put her leftovers in.. otherwise she would get charged $5.50 a can...?? Everyone I saw was upset, nobody felt safe.. the least they could have done was comp is our parking. Don't come here. Stayed here two years in a row for my girlfriends bday. Location is great, within walking distance to the SM pier and 4th street promenade. I usually wake up in the mornings and go for a run on the SM boardwalk all the way to Venice and back. It's about 5 miles roundtrip to Venice. The rooms have been upgraded recently. The restaurant/bar on 18th floor known as the Penthouse is also a great spot for drinks and views when it's open. The hotel workers are also friendly and welcoming. Valet is $55 a night but it takes away the hassle of finding street parking and being paranoid about violations. read more

Only reason why this review deserves 2 star instead of 1 is because the valet and penthouse restaurant staff was very nice and attentive. I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights for a business trip. Checkout time for the hotel is 12pm noon, and I left the hotel and went back to the room and noticed my room door was open and my personal belonging was no longer in the room. I went to the front desk asking what is going on when I did not even check out yet. Apparently, the staff mistakenly checked me out when I did not request to do so and removed everything. They did have my contact information on file. Why didn't anyone bother to call me asking why I left my belonging if I actually checked out? I find it ridiculous for such a stupid mistake to be made at such a hotel. read more

I'm stingy with 5 stars, especially with hotels however this place exceeded my expectations and I was amazed at the price I got (booked through booking.com). The rooms are comfortable, clean, and have quite a bit of attention to detail with impeccable lighting, and great bathrooms. The lobby doesn't promote lounging much, but there are several great spots for cocktails or dinner in the area. Up and down the coast from the top of the Huntley Hotel. The white interior is super pretty. I decided to book a room to celebrate my birthday and I was crushed to find out on arrival that the restaurant was closed for a private event! Really bummed not to be able to visit the restaurant that evening, but I did make it up for breakfast the next morning. The rooms are visually ok on first glance but our toilet was so stained, grossly so. And the mini bar with snacks was very dusty. But the worst part was the fact that the room was over 80 degrees hot for the last two nights we were there, I don't know why but I do know that I called several time asking for help and a solution and they couldn't have cared less, they told me to crack the window. Then after me calling for the 3rd time they comped the hotel amenity fee (25 dollars) for one night. I came for work, we only used the room to sleep and we couldn't even do that because it was too hot. This hotel doesn't care about their guests at all. read more
