Excellent place to visit on vacation. We arrived at 5:30 on a Tuesday and had about a 1.5 hr wait. It was a nice evening with clouds so the wait was enjoyable while we listened to the live music. The bar by the music is cash only so be prepared unless you want to wait in the line at the ATM. Once seated the waiter was quick to arrive and he was on point with everything we needed throughout the meal. The food was delicious and everything came out quick and hot. The hush puppies are delicious with just the right amount of jalapeño crumbles. The shrimp is local and also very good on tacos. Well done guys!!! We will be back. read more

Always impeccable. This is a must when visiting PSJ; they have the best oysters. Solid and consistent service, but I have my favorite servers there too. Ambiance is full of great water views and an excellent playlist. Bathrooms are a struggle, but it's a small price to pay for the best food in town. Highly recommend. read more

Wow I can't even begin to describe hope good this place is. Service is fast and super friendly. It's right on the water and has lots of seating but stays packed out. Be prepared to wait unless you will eat at the bar which we do. Back to the food, delicious is a understatement. This is probably the best seafood I have ever eaten. Friends and I stopped by there since we arrived late and everything was farther away. Great view of the sunset. Oyster was good smaller sizes though. Fast service. I ordered the grouper it was $30 plus to 2 side too hungry and ate without the picture. It was grilled perfectly my only complaint was the portion size was small for the value. I probably would not have order if I knew the portion size. The side was great I had mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables which was delicious. My gf had crab cake and it was okay taste-wise. The portion was the same complaint it was small. We were there and there was live music it was loud. If you prefer a quiet dinner I recommend getting a table inside. Hunt's is a hopping restaurant in Port St. Joe. The are is known for oysters and scallops, so of course our table had to give those a try. Both were flavorful and fresh. Our party also tried the flounder, crab cakes and chicken tenders. It is a seafood restaurant, so the chicken tenders weren't the star of the show and were standard. The crab cakes were really "wet" and fell apart very easily, but the flavor was ok. The price for eating crab means the dangers of shells, and there were quite a few shell fragments within the crab cakes. The service is absolutely stellar. Combine great service with a stunning sunset view really makes stopping at this restaurant a special treat. Be prepared to wait as this is a popular spot for locals and tourists! read more

Shrimp tacos and the Gator are a must when we visit! The wait is a bit weird in this Florida storm season- we waited for indoor seating quoted a 40 minute wait and it ended up raining so they sat all the outdoor seating in open seats inside causing our wait to be over an hour and half- the food and atmosphere is great but this was definitely a little disappointing and not typical that they would bump several us who waited for people who chose to eat outside knowing it rains. read more

The food and service was fabulous. The hushpuppies are light and crispy. They give quite a few crab legs with the dinner. They were cooked perfectly. The fried shrimp, scallops, and okra were fried with a crispy breading. The only minus was the over one and a half hour wait. The service and restaurant itself were really great, especially the seaside view. The food, however, was just okay. I tried the shrimp tacos and the coleslaw really overpowered the shrimp and was not great. My wife got a poor boy which I tried and there was hardly any shrimp on it. Our meals were very disappointing for the wait and price. We were most excited to get some hush puppies, and unfortunately they were raw and doughy in the middle. 1 out the 10 at our table was cooked through. Disappointing meal at Hunts. We've been coming here two or three times a year for almost 30 years when we visit the gulf coast and the food has always been great But.... This visit was not good. Prices are significantly higher and the quality of food was incredibly mediocre. I got the grouper sandwich which has always been great but this one was bad. I don't even think it was grouper but I dont know enough to call them out. My wife ordered the shrimp/ fish combo. Shrimp was very good, fish not so much. On a positive note the draft beer was cold. It seems they have gone from a locals place to catering to people that care more about the view on the upper deck. In the past the oyster bar downstairs would be packed with obvious locals at lunch. . Bar was basically empty this visit. I hear Hunts was sold a little while ago and it looks like the concept and food have changed. read more

The server and view from the back of the restaurant was honestly the only great things. The food portions were akin to kids sized. The prices were definitely not though. The scallops were good, but the menu stated they came from Massachusetts... which I found odd since this restaurant is right by the water. And my husband's Red Snapper (per the menu) is delivered daily. The kids chicken tenders were so dry my little sister didn't even finish 1. After a charity golf tournament in St Joe, we asked a local who had played in the tournament with us, where's the best fried shrimp dinner in town. Without hesitation he said Hunt's and it's only 5 minutes away. Now we are from the panhandle of Florida, so we're used to good fried shrimp, and we have been to Hunt's in PCB several times, but it's been 20 years or more. We walked in to a welcoming hostess who told us they were full outside but they had a nice inside table available. We grabbed it and purused the menu. My brother n law and I had already decided on the fried shrimp, but my friend had the grouper throats. The view of the bay was great and our server was prompt and courteous. I opted for the gouda cheese grits and fries as sides. After a reasonable wait, our food arrived, hot out of the grease and smelling incredible. The shrimp were perfect size and deveined and my goodness were they delicious. Cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. The batter was light and crispy. The gouda cheese grits were another hit. The fries were hand cut and deliciously on the crispy side. Our server checked in often for refills. Absolutely one of the best fried shrimp dinners I've ever had. Great job Hunt's!! read more

We (party of 3) discovered Hunt's Oyster Bar while on Spring Break in Port St. Joe, returning from a road trip to Cape San Blas. The view of the ocean from the upper deck was great. It was a great weather day for sitting outside. (a bit windy but doable) Our server, "Bit" was great. She was friendly and attentive. She would check on us periodically to see if we needed anything. We stopped for afternoon appetizers and cocktails. (Not knowing they only serve beer and wine, but we were fine with that.) We had the Buffalo Shrimp, Baked Oysters, and Crab Claws. All were delicious! The portions of the Buffalo Shrimp and Crab Claws were generous. We only got 1/2 dozen oysters since we were having dinner later. The food and service were both great. The vibe is casual. The music someone had chosen to play only added to the fun afternoon beach vibe we had. Would I return?...yes! Kudos to the staff and chefs at Hunt's Oyster Bar. read more

The place was packed. The wait time for our party was just over an hour. And for a mid June afternoon it was warm but not as hot as it's going to get later on in the summer. We got a table and it was by this time mostly in the sun. I noticed those that had ordered beer had quit drinking them due to them being hot. It took the restaurant a few minutes to get our large party order together that wasn't a problem. We decided to move in inside and was accommodated but then the wait time had started to take a toll on our large party of 8. I noticed the restrooms there were being only two. With long wait time to use those facilities, a gentleman that exit said there's no paper towels and to grab some off the table if you wanted to dry your hands. After dinner I waited outside for the rest of my party and noticed the wait line had grown to 2 1/2 hours for those new arrivals. Food is pretty good, especially the fried seafood. However, we were shocked to see their new menu. Prices on every entree have gone up 25% over the posted prices on their on line menu. Way above the rate of inflation. The increases are ridiculous, especially considering the business is owned by Tarpon Dock seafood, where their seafood comes from. But tonight my wife wanted to celebrate her birthday at Hunts. Again there was a wait of 45 minutes. And there we sat, eventually got the menus drink orders etc. placed orders starters came out quickly and that's where the good part stopped. After 2 hours the mains came out - hush puppies burnt one meal cold! This was seafood and therefore dangerous to serve let alone eat, one meal was a shrimp quesadilla which didn't have shrimp and then just random food kept trickling out which weren't ours. We were there 3 1/2 hours and left paying for what we had and a very sour taste in our mouths. Servers were pleasant and seemed well versed in poor food quality excuses. The manager stated it was because Atlanta had fall break they were busy. Atlanta is 6 hours away. read more
