My party of 5 just left after sitting at Keeper's for 2.5 hours on Saturday night, 5 July 25, and not receiving any main courses nor the server having any idea when they might be delivered. We arrived for our 7:45 reservation 10 minutes early and still were not seated until 8:10P. Our server was actually happy when we asked for our check and asked her to cancel our order. I understand it's a holiday weekend, but perhaps as the business you shouldn't allow multiple parties of 15 at the same time the rest of the tables are full and when the kitchen can't keep up (The wait staff told us that only two people were working in the kitchen). We were not the only table to leave because of the inability of the kitchen to keep up. We felt bad for the serving staff, but we never saw or heard from a supervisor or a manager on the floor. And when we decided to depart, we weren't even offered a discount on our appetizers and drinks, even though we had sat patiently for 2.5 hours. I really want this place to succeed, but you've got to be able to do the basics if you want people to ever come back. Please figure out how to run the restaurant during the busy season. read more

Keepers looks like a little bar and grill. There's live music and people roaming around the bar chit chatting and generally having a good time in their sun dresses and khaki short and polo attire. When you look closer, you see the care put into the live plants and flowers scattered about but placed with intention. You will also notice the herb garden which is a peek into your future. Then the friendly waiter acted as our guide to destiny. The food...the Chef ,and I don't use that word loosely, is truly an artist. The seasonal scallops were seared perfectly and presented beautifully. I don't like seafood but tried one anyway and the texture was buttery and the flavor was epic. I have no words for the sauce they were served in. It is an experience you just have to try. I had the porterhouse steak as an entrée. If you ate it by itself it would have been one of the top 3 steaks I've ever eaten. Paired with the seasonal vegetables and the baby potatoes, it was the best, most though out meal I've ever eaten. There were traces of the same spices in each dish that drew you back to the steak. They were separate dishes that complemented each other perfectly and I was left with the feeling that without all three I would have missed something. The emotions my brain attached to this meal were, no doubt, crafted and guided by the thought and love the chef obviously puts into his work. The veggies were hand picked the day prior by the chef himself and the steak was cut in the restaurant. If you can't tell, I was blindsided when I walked into this little bistro in Port St Joe, FL. I'm not a food critic. I don't even eat out that much. I consider myself a pretty good cook though. I was left speechless when I tasted this food. I was able to talk to the chef and hear the love for his art flow from him. This place is unrivaled in the Panhandle. read more

The most delicious meal we've had in Port Saint Joe! We started off with drinks from the very well appointed bar. The "love you, mean it" was fizzy, sweet, and perfectly tart. We shared the starter special of chilled crab claws, wedge salad, the pork chop main, and the pear bread pudding for dessert. Each plate that came out became better and more delicious than the previous! The bacon fat blue cheese dressing on the wedge had a Smokey richness that elevated the flavor of the crisp and perfectly ripe vegetables. So unique and surprisingly delicious! Everything from the grits and Brussels sprouts to the carmelized onions on top of the pork chop worked together to make a perfect bite with every single forkful! The bread pudding at the end put this menu over the top! We sat outside so we could hear the band playing at The Haughty Heron. Shout out to Dani and The Chix, who were amazing even without their lead singer Dani who was out sick. And lastly, we had the absolutely best waitress, Logan T.! Just like every restaurant for the last few years, Keeper's was short staffed. But Logan hustled and more than made up for it!! She energetically explained the specials and her favorite items with great detail and enthusiasm. Logan is an amazing waitress and made our evening meal top notch! As new residents to this beautiful city, we have been hitting all the local spots. We have enjoyed every single one and love that there are so many locally owned restaurants. Such a disappointment, now we know why this place is never packed. First it's not clean, need to sweep the floors and the tables, dust your light fixtures, straighten your pictures. Furniture is like sitting on a rock, so hard and uncomfortable. Service was mediocre at best, I learned there was an actual special of the day by listening to another waitress tell their table. Tried this restaurant after hearing good things about it from a few folks. Therefore, our expectations were high and we were looking forward to a good experience. Sadly, that was not the case. We went on a Thursday night, and the place was maybe a third full. We had reservations for 6pm and were seated promptly. After 15 minutes, a waiter came by, offered water and took our drink order. Another 15 minutes passed and we got our drinks. I told the waiter we were ready to order at that point, but he said he needed to serve an order to a table near us and would be right back. It was another 18 minutes (yes I timed him) before he returned. We were then informed that they were out of three of the menu items, on what is already a rather limited menu. We should have left at this point, but my wife wanted to remain so that's what we did. We got our meals approx 20 minutes later. I had ordered a glass of red wine to be served with my meal. He forgot it. He immediately went to the bar and placed the order. Only three customers at the bar drinking/eating...so it was not busy. After more than 15 minutes, I still did not have my wine. I saw it sitting on the bar, so I walked over to ask if it was for my table (five steps from the bar) and she said, "I guess". She turned and walked away. Beyond this horrific experience with the non-existent service, our meals were fair...about 2.5 / 5. Prices were on the high side, especially considering the quality of the food and service we received. Ambiance is just ok. Obviously will not return and have shared our experience with many friends in the area. So disappointing. read more

The hostess was friendly and helpful in getting waters while they were in the midst of a busy night. Fantastic is the word that keeps popping into my head! The wine list is well thought with wines from all over the world, graciously priced and plays well with the locally sourcing of menu items. The decor is just enough of the Floridia lifestyle but really it plays more to the owners personal preference and her taste of casual, smart, and comfortable. Bartender made everything to order and any cocktail request was prepared in a true mixologist manner. Chef sent out several smoked duck preparations as a compliment and welcome for my dinner guest and me, that really helped set the tone. Oysters are from Indian Pass, raised by the father of the owner and were clean with a with the light saltiness and the vignette was Southern in style. Portions were very generous and well worth the price, plus prepared with a wonderful array of yummy veggies, starches and legumes. We had the risotto, seafood pasta and the Farmers Salad. All were fray, hot, delicious and at a very fair price. Found this gem thanks to Yelp reviews when we were in the area. The ambience is great- the inside is beautifully decorated and we were able to dine outside with a view of the bay. We were greeted warmly and our server gave us solid recommendations for food and cocktails. The cocktails were exceptional and the food was outstanding. I got a shrimp risotto plate...for $25.. it was very good...but kinda' expensive for 4 shrimp. Spouse got a basic salad for like $15 and drank the water. I had a cider for $7,. Bill was like $50.. plus tip made it $60...with no appetizers or dessert. Indoor decor was ok. Very loud due to cement floors. Ceiling was plain white and needed repair which made it bright and not very posh feeling. Service was OK. Staff was polite but not dressed to match the price of the food. read more
