I am a retired senior citizen on a fixed income. I contacted Hurley electric because a "light switch" that operates an exterior light broke. Job was done super fast, 15-20 minutes to replace a broken light switch. At a cost of $398.50 Price gouging an old women is so wrong. I started to cry and I told them through my tears I could not afford so much money that I wouldn't be able buy groceries for the whole month. So I had to put it on a credit card, and then they had the audacity to charge me 4% more, because that's what the credit card companies would charge them, they said. I feel so taken advantage of. When I called to inquire about an approximate estimate. They refused to give me any price over the phone. Just to simply replace a broken light switch. I would never recommend them to anyone. We requested an estimate/bid for a great deal of work for our residential home. I was told they charge $480/hr (!!) and was given between 11k-16K range. They refused to provide us with a written estimate and argued that they "educated us and explained the work" and "would give us a details report as they went along". We passed as basic project management 101 is a written estimate for both the provider and the client. Had I know they would refuse to provide a written estimate, I would not have wasted the $250 they charged me for the "free estimate" they advertise. read more

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with Hurley Electric. The owner was nice when he came out for the initial estimate. I explained everything that I wanted done. He gave me an estimate and made it sound like it was a lot of work and they would be there a few days to work on the job. I was surprised when the job only took about 8 hours. They didn't do everything how I thought they planned on doing some of the work. Basically they took the quick and easy way out to do some of the work. They gave me the bill and it was the price of the full estimate. I asked for an itemized bill because I was shocked that they were still going to charge me the full amount for less work. I was told I had agreed to the estimate and that they do not provide itemized bills. I have never had a contractor refuse to provide an itemized bill. Basically I paid $570/hr for some basic electrical work. I asked several more times for an itemized bill to reflect the cost of the work they did for me. Mike Hurley continued to refuse and finally sent me a generic bill with nothing itemized on it. The "nice" Mike who came for the estimate was now rude and condescending. I had to have them come back to clean up a bunch of dirty fingerprints they left all over flat ceiling paint and to fix an outlet they left sticking out from the wall a few inches. I had a Tesla Charger installed 5/29. I called 2 days before this & got a quote for 550$. When installed the tech after completion said it was $750.00. When I said I was quoted by the owner @ 550 he stated this happens often & the owner will just refund me the difference once I contact him. I posted texts of the conversation where the owner assures me before he cashed my check he will touch base with me. I never heard back from him again after multiple emails texts & calls. Not someone who leaves negative reviews except when there is such poor business practices. Stay away he will offer low quote to beat competition & then charge more without sending invoice. read more

Amazing! They were so fast to fix my electric panel that caught fire. It happened on a Sunday he came out in 30 minutes and made sure we were safe and then the next day had guys out to repair with all the items they needed. They were so great and fast. Hands down the best company around. read more

Talked to the service manager, says its $250.00 the first hour and $150.00 every hour there after. This is outrageous. I have a short and he says he can't promise it would be done within a couple hours.... meaning they will milk you for a few. Was not happy. Its a wonder a company like this stays in business. Would not recommend these people. They may do good work but their prices aren't worth it when you find find more reasonable Electricians that don't gouge you. Too bad they don't have less than a star rating because that's what they'd get from me. read more

The technician said my whole home genearor was no longer working but after having a more quallfied technician look at the issue it just needed a battery replacement and works fine now. I emailed Hurley on a Sunday afternoon because of a problem with a ground fault that took out our lights. He emailed back right away and came the next day (because we could live without those lights for another day). This was not an easy repair to diagnose. They were thorough, cleaned up, and unfailingly polite. I hope we never have another problem, and I would call them again if we ever do. read more
