This is by far my most favorite vet clinic/animal hospital I've ever been to in Colorado, and I've lived here for over 20 years. Yes, walk in can be a long wait but no other vet I've worked with in the past even takes last minute walk-ins. I personally have only worked with Dr. Paula Welling for my kitties and she's been so genuine, easy to work with. Such a compassionate, professional doctor and that's who you want on your side when it comes to your animal's well being. She's seriously the best. I've had the honor to have 6 kitties so far in my lifetime, currently having 1 around and she has been the doctor for 3 of them. Come give them a chance if you're in the area. This place takes at least 2 hours when you have an appointment, majority of the time you are sitting here waiting while the staff is laughing talking about weekend plans. There are 4 customers currently that have been waiting 45 minutes just to be seen. They don't seem busy as I am one of the 4 customers that are currently not being seen. read more

My baby was sick over thanksgiving and we hadn't found a steady vet yet. They were super nice and fairly fast. Plus they squeezed us in the day I called. Thankfully. Now my baby is on the upswing. I had my dog seen by them and everyone was amazing. The staff was welcoming, my Veterinarian was super inviting and helped my dog not be so nervous when he got his vaccinations. Huron Animal Hospital has been the primary care for our pets since 2004. We've been happy with the vets.

This place is always slammed, but it is worth the wait. My dogs love the Docs, Techs, and the Front Desk staff. I value their veterinary expertise and care. I see many senior dogs there along with one of mine, so they are keeping them keeping on. My pup took 5 of them to check his hips, but noone complained, they laughed at his antics. Couldn't ask for a better place for my fur kids. read more

If I could give a-100 I would My senior cat had a small tumor on her breast. I took her in for surgery. They called and told me she was doing fine afterwards. Not long after they called and said she had a heart attack while in recovery. Found out later that they used the wrong anesthesia. The one that they used was not for senior cats. Of course they charged me for the procedure and the cremation. Never admitted they were at fault. read more

When I 1st rescued Boss Hogg from the Pit Bull kill shelter down in Cincinnati, OH on Thanksgiving 2021 he was in horrific bad shape. He had fleas and ticks and skin and stomach problems. Just the scratching so aggressive, he would make himself bleed. I brought him home back to Denver to Dr. Heller to be fully examined. We needed to give him all his vaccines, change his diet, give him allergy shots every other month for him to be in great health. He suggested that dogs that have bad allergies need to eat Salmon and Rice kibble because their skin is sensitive. I can not thank you and Chris (at the front desk)and your staff for the kindness to help me rescue this guy and bring him back to living a happy dog life with me on the road. Just a quick allergy shot today but thank you again for the excellent treatment you have always giving me and my fur babies for uncountable, over 15 years. This clinic has a policy of making patients go to their walk-in clinic for vaccinations. Which is fine, except that they have NO PROBLEM making you wait 2 hours for it. And if you try to make an appointment for it, they charge you an extra $80 exam fee. A written complaint about this on their system produced no results, so obviously they don't care about their patient's time, or their veterinary staff is withholding bad feedback from the owners. So, to them, you and your pet is just a number, not a name. Go elsewhere. Gosh, why is the veterinary care in my are so subpar? We have been patients of Huron Animal Hospital since 1997 and have always been happy with the Veterinarians knowledge and care. Dr. Grossinger and Dr. Welling always go above and beyond, both are wonderful veterinarians. The facility is clean and accessible. Through the years the front desk staff have came and gone, but currently there are two AMAZING staff! Sally and Brittany are knowledgeable, welcoming, courteous, kind, and did I say AMAZING!!! I had gone to have my dog checked out as to she was a new member of our family. I went and they gave her shots she didnt need and charged for their mistake. I had also asked about anxiety meds or just information and that was brushed over. I have now been trying to get a refund for the shots that my dog should have never received and this happened in April still with no progress. I have called Melissa the Manager many times. read more

We took in our dog on 8/24/21 because he was wincing in pain. After waiting over an hour to see someone, mildly understandable as we didn't have an appointment, we were finally seen. We told them about our pup being in pain and that he was a sensitive pup. The tech mentioned that a sedative COULD be an option to make him more comfortable for a visit with the doctor. We were also told that if the sedative was not strong enough that they could do an injectable sedative and/or a muzzle. We agreed to the plan, the doctor said it was too late in the day and we should come back the next day, we asked if we needed an appointment and were told no. We gave the pup the sedative at 7:30 and were at the hospital at 8 am. By 9 am the sedative was clearly wearing off so we asked if we should give him more. This led to a number of people getting involved because no one could give a definite answer. Then we were told that they were refusing service because the dog could not be muzzled. No one had come out to see the dog or asked us if we would muzzle him before bringing him back. The hospital stands by their policy of being able to refuse service to any animal to ensure the safety of their staff, which we fully understand. However, our pup was not acting aggressively and again, no one came to see him or assess the situation AND we had been told the evening before that we would be taken care of. What is the sense of telling a worried pet owner that there are numerous things you are willing to do to help their pet and then when the moment arrives not even come out from the back to look at the pet? read more

I made an appointment to take my dog in for her shots and general check-up. This was in response to a card and various email message reminders from Huron Animal Hospital, that she was due for the visit. When my husband and I arrived and checked in at the front desk about 15 minutes prior to the appointment time, we were told that we didn't have an appointment. I told them that I had definitely called several days before and scheduled the date and time. The staff person asked if we had received a confirmation and I said that we hadn't. She said, "no confirmation, no appointment!" I had no idea that it was MY responsibility to call them for a confirmation, thinking that talking to a staff member and getting a date/time was enough. After arguing with them about who was in the wrong, they said we could stay as a walk-in. We waited for 30 minutes and then left. I have lived in the area for over 40 years and have been taking pets to Huron Animal Hospital during that entire time with no complaints . But after having had to deal with the current rude and incompetent front desk staff, I'll look for another veterinary clinic. If they were supposed to call me for a confirmation, they should not have blamed the lack of a confirmation call on ME. Not a good way to be treated and I can see why they have such poor reviews. read more

First of all I wanted to say thank you to the Veterinarian and the assistance with all the care they gave to my Jack Russell. But going into the practice Hellen was all over the place was not kind and very loud and not private about anything.Helen the manager was not ethical at all about the the emergency visit itself. The other young lady that was trying to help me before Helen made her way to me and was shewed away by Helen. During the visit the assistant Jordan was great! But the information given to me about my balances -estimates were different I totally understood they were estimates anything can change but the Lady Helen office manager was very fast on explaining the estimate and getting it to be signed and it bothered her when I asked her questions about the estimate and wanted me to sign right away . The 1st estimate was for $484.40 then gave me a 2nd estimate for & 630.96, and then said sign while the assistant came to me to sign another thing on the iPad about the treatment then Helen gave her an ok very bossy. Not professional at all. To see this I was at edge. Now on seeing for the 1st time the estimates 1st estimate $484.40 quoted & 2nd estimate $630.96 something a lot different then 1st one she urged me to sign the 3rd one showing $530.96 bc it could be the higher at the end and can give me a refund quick. They decided to remove the X-ray charge. I was fine with that but then when procedure was over. I had called back about if there was a change on the procedure and she verbally said yes we will credit you the difference but do you have your receipts I said yes and I had told her to refund the difference on my debit card then she put me on hold and changed her story and got back on the phone and said it stayed the same price where I was just told by Helen I was getting a refund didn't want to do the math work refund and decided to say no after she said yes. This was our first trip to Huron Animal Hospital after being on the search for a new home vet for our babies. We did a walk in service because I felt i needed to get my pup in ASAP ( which I'm so thankful they offer, since there were no appointments left for the day) Our first experience with Dr. Tyler was incredible, she was super helpful and I felt like she actually cared about our baby, as much as we do. She even wrote down information on switching our puppy to healthier brands and really took the time to ease my worries about our initial reason for visiting. After antibiotics and some great advice we were on our way and the checkout was seamless and the front desk ladies were great. (Not to mention pricing on antibiotics were a fraction of what I've paid at other vets like Banfield etc...) I have seen quite a few poor reviews about the front desk and it's a shame because my experience from initially making the appt to check out was a pleasant experience (especially because they could tell how worried I was for my pup being sick.) I have now made our other pup his initial appt, since Huron will now be our go to Vet and the process was great and the front desk was very apologetic for the brief hold and was quite helpful getting me navigated to Dr. Tyler for my next appt. I've only been to Huron a couple of times, but I would say my experiences have been more positive than not, I have had a rather short/snippy receptionist answer my calls before, and same with a brief encounter with a vet tech, could be stress with the pandemic changes at first, however I will say my last two visits to get a cytopoint shot (for allergies) for my American Bulldog were amazing, I wish I remembered the names of the previous 2 vet techs I've seen... (I'm sorry) but if I do get their names again I will personally shout them out!!! I adored their patience with my girl, she's strong so when she's scared..she's scary! They handled her SO well, making her comfortable with them, on her first exam visit, the poor Doctor and Tech got scratched pretty good attempting to trim her nails (which is a complete nightmare and really can't be done, but they sure did try!) and didn't hold it against her, or make me feel any type of way bc her breed. I did like the Vet, but I am truly stunned by how knowledgeable the vet techs were! I have worked in animal care jobs my whole life so I know quality! I also treat my dog like my kid so I'm particular. I would also like to give thanks to the reception bc despite the negative reviews and my one iffy experience, the girls up front have been sweet and informative. Please keep up the good work Huron!! We took our dog here because he was vomiting blood. They vet and their techs said he was just nauseous and needed some fluids and pills. And xrays and blood work. After spending $600 and mentioning that our dog was vomiting more blood before we left (which they told us was "normal") our doggy died later that same day. When we called to let them know they said there's nothing they could've done for him and we can donate the very expensive medications we just bought. They did not offer to put him down nor could they give us a clear answer. Its very clear they are money driven and do not actually care. Save yourself the heartache and go somewhere else. read more

Took my 5 yr old chi mix in on Thurs., 10/7/21. I told Dr Heller he wasn't peeing, eating, or walking. He took an X-ray, which he showed to me. It showed his heart was slightly enlarged, his bladder was completely full. Dr Heller gave him an antibiotic shot, some pills, and sent him home. Three days later my little guy was dead. My questions for Dr Heller are: 1) Why didn't you do bloodwork? 2) Why didn't you use a catheter to remove the urine? This was serious, and Dr Heller acted like my little guy would get better... I'm not a vet, so I put my faith in Dr Heller. No more. Done with this vet. read more

I think the way this place handles new patients is awful. They will not allow a new patient to make an appointment; they can only be seen via walk-in. After waiting for an hour and a half, I left. there was a lady there with a VERY sick dog, who had been there for 2 hours and they had not worked her in, in between patients who had appointment. This is terrible way to treat people and their pets. I do not fault the front desk staff, they were very pleasant. But whoever made this policy really needs to rethink how to handle new patients. Long story short: Long wait times (even with appointments), outrageous pricing, and not being able to adequately perform the services that are being paid for is why you should find another vet. Long story long: I began taking my pets here because it's so close to home but the service I received during my last visit was infuriating. I told the technician and the vet that helped me about an altercation my cat had with another, I explained to them everything that was abnormal about his behavior following the altercation, I was able to answer every other question they had about him (eating habits, bathroom habits, etc.). On top of this, I pointed out that he seemed to be favoring his right leg and was licking it so often that his fur was incredibly wet in that area so I knew it was bothering him but that my cat wouldn't let me do a thorough inspection. Both the tech and the vet barely looked/felt my cats leg before my cat pulled it back and their response was "yeah something seems to be bothering him but it's clearly not broken," and moved on. They said they didn't find anything and gave him an anti inflammatory to "see if that does anything." The entire visit was about $200 and my cat's wound (found and treated for $67 by another veterinarian) became worse that very same day. I am being refused a refund for the exam because "the service was still performed," (I understand that antibiotics were administered and due to the nature of the visit I knew I'd have to pay a walk-in fee and do not mind paying for those). However I believe that if I bring my pet to professionals to find out what the issue is and to resolve the issue, then those professionals should at the very least be able to do a thorough exam. The fact that their employees seemed to barely inspect my cat, seemingly disregarded my information after telling them where I believed he was hurt, and could not find a wound that I and another vet found within seconds when that was exactly what I was paying them to do is ridiculous. In the last year the front office has majorly turned things around. They have clearly hired more staff and the service is so much different. I am so pleased. We normally see Dr Heller or Dr Welling and really do love them both. All the techs we have dealt with have been amazing too. The staff here have always been so helpful and attentive to me and my pup. I have visited them for regular checkups, medication refills, and emergency services since 2017 and I have been very satisfied with their services, competence, and prices. They even give me a veterans discount which is very appreciated. The staff have always gone above and beyond for me and my pup. The doctors even diagnosed an extremely rare and deadly infection she had as a rescue-puppy. They saved my dog's life! They also notified the adoption agency of the diagnosis to make sure the other rescue pups were treated. My dog has been a "trail-dog" and has backpacked at least 1,000 miles. The staff here helped me and my dog prepare for these treks, and they were there for us even when we needed their help in different states. The staff have been incredibly supportive. Wait times are not that bad- and if there's ever a delay, it's because another animal really needs their immediate attention. Scheduling appointments can sometimes take some time due to their high call volume, but it's not that big of a deal... just call back or leave a voicemail. They'll get back to you in a timely manner. I also really love their walk-in option. It may take them some time to work you into their schedules if you're a walk-in... but it is so helpful to know they're there if I need anything, and that I don't have to pay ridiculous prices at a veterinarian ER. I am not giving 5 stars because they're completely perfect... I am giving 5 stars because their overall performance and care has made me a happy dog mom of a very healthy and happy pup. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would! Dr. Heller's wife, Helen, told me today that she would rather lose a client than waive a $50 charge for a missed appointment that my wife made and called the day before to let them know. No matter how good the care, I refuse to be billed for something that I did not receive, in this case animal care. As a business owner, I find this absurd. I would never ask my client to sign something saying they would pay a $50 missed appointment charge, nor would I expect someone to pay for a service not rendered. After allowing Helen the chance to waive the unwarranted fee, she replied that she did not care to speak with me and she would not reverse the charge. I also placed a complaint with the BBB, to which she said, "I don't care! " And, I now know that they don't care about pets, people or retaining clients. They are just out for the money. read more

LISTEN & TAKE HEED OF THE 1-STAR REVIEWS!!!  I will NEVER go back to this place nor recommend them!  My kitty was profoundly sick.  She was an exceptional angel and was the most patient furrbaby I have ever seen and trained, too!  She would sit and allow you to give her insulin injections and trim her claws... an angel all around.  I let them take her to the back to draw blood.  During that same visit and back in the same room as me, she had to have a shot.  Two techs in front of me, one being the senior tech who literally showed pleasure in manhandling and roughing up my poor angel and I am NOT exaggerating!!  Grabbed her in the most inhumane manner and actually said out loud with a disgusting tone, "yeahhhhh, you didn't like that when I had to do it earlier, did you?!"!  I was so completely shocked that I didn't say anything because THEY are supposed to be the professionals!!  The look on my poor baby's face was HORRIFIC and I will NEVER forget it and I will NEVER forgive myself for not grabbing her from that disgusting senior tech woman, repremanding her, and reporting the entire operation!!  My baby has since passed away of the very thing I took her there to get help with and TO THIS DAY I think of that look my poor furrbaby had and what happened and it breaks my heart over and over and over again!!  Don't let this happen to you and your loved one!  And to Huron Animal Hospital, don't even bother with your lip-service responses that you give us on these reviews!!  Instead, develop some ethics and change your ways because THAT is the ONLY WAY TO SHOW TRUE REMORSE AND AN APOLOGY!!  I am standing up for my furrbaby now, in her loving memory!!  There was ZERO need to do what that tech was doing...   Thanks for harming both my furrbaby and me during our visit and having one of the last experiences with her in her final days be you guys HARMING her and giving me a horrible memory that won't go away!!  My furrbaby did NOT deserve that, especially while sick!  And I have had PTSD for over 35 years and this experience hits deep and added to it!!  Good riddance to Huron Animal Hospital and their compassionless, disgusting, inhumane ways!  I might still report you all... especially that tech!!! read more

I have been bringing my pets here for years, and I love this place. I have gone to other vets (because I got free visits when I bought my dogs) and I didn't like them even 1/2 as much. I have never had to muzzle my dog here, and at other places they just muzzle dogs routinely (strange, and not ok with me) and they always love on my dog here. They are so kind and not judgmental at all. This time I came in because of my dogs eye issues and the doctor and nurse were both so friendly and funny, we ended up talking about their own dogs and everything else under the sun. The front desk people are nice, and the prices are pretty good too! I will never go to another vet again. read more

My experiences here have been mostly positive. I've been taking my cats here for approximately 10 years now. One of my cats was rather high-maintenance: from an early age, he was constantly getting sick and he also had skin allergies, hyperthyroidism, urinary tract crystals, and arthritis. I felt that the care he received was more than adequate. The entire staff was empathetic and kind when the time came to euthanize him at age 18 due to kidney failure. Their prices are reasonable and there have been times when they didn't nickle and dime me for this-and-that. The clinic has its own lab, which means a shorter wait time to get blood results. I got the impression that the veterinarians were knowledgeable and skilled, which is not something I can say about many veterinary practices. read more

Took my dog in to be euthanized. Called prior because we were having a 3rd party to the aquamation and wanted to make sure that was not a problem. Was told it was not. The company we are using for aquamation also called and was told not problem. I arrive to check in and I got the front desk supervisor. She was rude and had no compassion for what I was dealing with. She was more worried about money and what to do with the body. She told me to calm down and that there was no reason to be angry multiple times. She required calling the company doing aquamation before she would finish checking in and did it in speaker phone. After she found out I already paid the other company she called again on speaker phone to verify what she had to charge me. Then there was a consent to sign by my roommate, the other owner, who was in the car with the dog distraught. She wanted me to go to the car and have him come into sign the consent. I told her it could wait until we were in a room and she wanted to argue that as well. When we were taken to a room she was rushing us. When we left no kind words or anything from the front staff. A person in the waiting room showed more compassion then her. This clinics techs and doctors are great people nice and compassionate. My 6 yr old Boxer has been seen at Huron since she was a puppy. 2 weeks ago we took her in as she was acting odd, pacing, batting at her ear and seeming to be in discomfort. They looked in her ears, no redness, gave her missing shots and sent us home. 2 days later I took her back as she was not better. Made aware she is not acting right something is wrong. They gave us cream for the ear that seemed to bother her, then let us know they accidently gave her a shot that wasn't due until Feb 2020 and charged for that. Otherwise she is fine. We left the country for Thanksgiving. We received a call from my son for authorization for emergency care as she got worse. They preformed a brain scan to find our baby had a brain tumor and was dying. We began a long series of flights to get back. She died as we were landing in Denver. There is nothing that could have stopped that tumor or her death. But I would have stayed with our baby and held her thru her pain had we known. How is it a stranger seeing her for the first time knew what was happening, yet the clinic that has had her for 6 years never noticed, took heed in what we were telling them nor do ANYTHING when a parent told them something is very wrong. I took all 3 of my pets here and was very happy with Huron animal hospital. I brought my 4 month old puppy here because she was constipated and sounded like she was in pain. Dr. Rick heller diagnosed her with "gas". not long after the appointment. our Babygirl passed away. not knowing that the cause of her passing away was renal Dysplasia, my husband and I brought our 18 month old angel here because he seemed lethargic and abnormal. Dr. Welling is absolutely amazing and so kind hearted. She treated our baby for a day. The next day we were caught off guard, when dr Rick heller told us that there was something wrong with our 18 month old's kidneys and a ultrasound was 500$, there was nothing we could do. come to find out dr rick heller, did not do what was explained to us on day one, and his treatment was with alternative meds instead of what we agreed to. If we were informed we would've looked into alternate options and open to any ideas. the vets from CASE did everything they could to save our little boys life. But we were not told by dr.heller at all what our options were and what the treatment looked like. our little buddy passed away after 4 days. we took him to an emergency vet that went through absolutely everything with us. What if his life could've been saved if he was given what he needed the first time we took him into huron animal hospital. read more

After receiving weeks of text messages for my dog to be seen for blood work, I called to schedule an appointment. I was told that I did not need an appointment and just to come in as a walk-in. When I did, I also asked if my dog could be seen for a limp she had in her leg. I was told I was third in line. After waiting over an hour and half, my dog still had not been seen. When I inquired, three separate personnel began to confront me with excuses, causing me to be on the defensive. I was told that there was only one doctor and they did not know how much longer it would be before I would be seen. I was told I was still third in line. When I inquired about just having my dog's blood work done, I was told they did not know, because it takes two technicians. Unfortunately, I had a funeral to go to and could no longer wait an unspecified amount of time. Then I asked to schedule an appointment, but with the confrontation of three individuals, I just walked out. A few minutes later I tried to call to make an appointment. When I was asked what day would I like. My response was "what difference does it make my dog just needs to be seen". The receptionist immediately got defensive and stated she would not speak to me and hung up the phone. What a rude staff in all. When I called back and kindly asked to schedule an appointment, the receptionist said no, and I am going to transfer you to my manager. I was then transferred to their accounts receivable and left a message. The problem here is there is no transparency in how long your wait is going to be. I was never told there was only one doctor before having to wait. I was never told that the wait time may be less for just the blood work and I could schedule an appointment for my dog's leg at a later date. Instead, I was encouraged to wait by the staff informing me that I was third in line. Making me think the wait was not very long. However, I witnessed many patrons, including walk-ins go before me. Previously I have not had any complaints about Huron Animal Hospital. However, in this instance, I felt that there is no transparency in your wait time, and no regard for the patients and their valuable time. Had I been told when I walked in that I would have an extremely long wait, I would immediately just scheduled an appointment to come back. read more

After a recommendation from a friend I called Huron Animal Hospital to schedule a new patient appointment for my dog. I only needed Bordatella for a upcoming trip. I was informed by the person on the phone that I could just walk in. So today I arrived at 10am to a very busy office. Remember, I'm a new patient. After waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes, I asked how much longer. They said I was next. Another 15 minutes and a tech came out for another patient. So now I'm in for 1 and 1/2 hours and I'm still a new patient needing only a Bordatella shot. The girls at the desk were rude and let patients stand in front of them for minutes while they would finish other paperwork. Maybe check in patients and do paper work later? This is how things run? No appointments for new patients, walk ins wait hours for a Bordatella shot?! I left. If I could leave less than 1 star, I would. read more

I had an appointment today for 9:50am. I was 15 minutes late so they put me down as a walk in. Totally reasonable. Over 3 hours later I was still waiting when they took a walk in that got there at least 90 minutes after me. A tiny found kitten was pushed ahead- maybe because it was super cute. When I complained the office manager (I'm guessing) admitted it was a mistake but also quietly told one of the girls that earlier on I should have been offered the next appointment time (correcting the staff within ear shot of customers is bad management-btw). So I was offered a free exam and told I was next. Great. Another 40 minutes later and we're all told told that the walk in doctor is going on lunch so it'll be at least an hour longer for anyone who walked in. Yeah the vet should get a lunch. But they screwed up TWICE and I had enough. 4 hours totally wasted while I sat with my sick, elderly cat. I get being understaffed but that doesn't account for the lack of intelligence and compassion. I won't be going back. read more

Been coming here for 12 years and I'm sad not sad to say that I'm done because for some reason they think it's ok to hire rude front desk and office staff. Which is unfortunate for most of the doctors (whom I like), because we have to filter through the awful front desk. This is my 4th negative experience with them so we are done. I realize that some people have bad days, but these people really shouldn't be the face of the hospital or need some serious customer service training. read more

This place has very rude staff , they don't care about the clients that go there and are very quick to make everything your fault or your problem. lack of human compassion. I went there to put my dog down and I had paid for everything to put him in a box and a paw print and he would be back 7 to 10 business days. Well I went to pick up my baby and bring him home and he was in a bag not a box I wanted him in . They said we never picked a box for him . This is the worst place to ever take your animals to I should have read the complaints before taking him there worst experience ever . read more
