They showed up to the wrong house, knocked, and when no one answered, they left--despite having the correct address on file. They mentioned seeing a red car in the driveway (which belonged to our neighbor), but didn't verify they were at the right home. We were inside the correct house moving in and didn't see their call at the time. When we followed up, they blamed us for not answering and said they were already across town. We explained we had movers scheduled in two days and needed to stay on track, but they refused to return that day or come the next. No effort was made to make things right, and we were left in a bind. For a company named "The Honest Guys," the professionalism and accountability were lacking. We wouldn't recommend them.

In the last couple months I had a drain clog that auto shuts off my unit as a safety install by AAA. Thank goodness! -- Very Disappointing Plumbing Experience I used Shumate…read morePlumbing a little over a year ago for several plumbing issues in my home, including repairs to a couple of toilets and a severe leak in my master bathroom. Unfortunately, my experience with their plumbing service was extremely disappointing. Regarding the master bathroom leak, Shumate told me they needed to locate a particular part and would get back to me. I followed up with them approximately five or six months later, only to find out that they had apparently forgotten about the issue. They said they thought they had reached back out to me, but they had not. By that point, the leak had gotten significantly worse. I was then told they couldn't find the part. I asked if they could at least recommend another solution or provide some guidance on how to resolve the problem. Essentially, I was told they couldn't fix it and was left to figure it out myself. Fortunately, I found another plumbing company. They came out the same day, identified the issue, and found the supposedly difficult-to-find part -- which happened to be a European part -- within about five minutes. The repair was completed in less than a week. Now, more recently, the toilet in my master bathroom that Shoemate had repaired is having another problem. They had replaced the flapper and the fill valve/base inside the tank with new parts. The toilet is now leaking and taking an extremely long time to fill. I contacted Shoemate and asked whether the repair was still under warranty. I was told their warranty was only one year and that they would not address the issue. I explained that I wasn't calling simply because I wanted something for free -- I was calling because they had originally performed the repair, and I was hoping they would stand behind their work and at least try to take care of a returning customer. Instead, I was essentially told that they could not help me and that I should go with another plumbing company. That response is consistent with my earlier experience: when there was a problem they couldn't immediately resolve, I felt like I was simply left hanging rather than being given a solution or even a meaningful recommendation. I can't speak to their HVAC services because I haven't used them for HVAC. But based on my experiences with their plumbing department, I would not use Shumate for plumbing again and cannot recommend them to others. If I could give less than one star, I would.

First, the technicians are always so nice, very knowledgeable and never make me feel like they are trying to sell me a service or equipment I don't really need. I have been a Realtor for almost 15 years and have dealt with many vendors in the HVAC industry. Some have been good, some have been not so good. With Comfort Control, I have had techs here late at night, on weekends (Sunday too) and have never had to wait long for service. I always feel like they are honest and do what needs to be done at a fair price. That is very important to me. Second, I have referred them to a few of my clients and I have never had any of them express anything except complete satisfaction. Definitely not the norm but a satisfying reaction for me since I sent them:-) I had a client who had her air stop working in one of the hottest days of the year. She was watching her 10 week old grandson and was panicked. She texted me and I gave her their number. Later that day she called me to thank me for the referral and they got someone out there pretty quickly who was able to fix the problem at a reasonable cost (on a weekend) She continues to use them when needed and for maintenance. Time and time again I get thank you messages from people and clients who I have sent to them. They meet with several companies and end up truly feel most comfortable with them. So with that kind of track record and my personal positive experiences, I felt the need to share. So many people are willing to take the time to write bad reviews about companies.
