The staff here is the best! I've been taking our kitty here for several happy years, but I'm terrible at remembering to write reviews. So here it is! (Drumroll?) First, I can't say enough about the warm & welcoming staff. In nearly 10 visits, I've never encountered a vet tech, doctor, or front desk staff member who was anything but friendly & polite to me, or--most importantly--gentle, loving, and attentive to my cat. Our chosen vet, Dr. Wortley, is consistently kind, patient, and thorough. I've never felt rushed, regardless of how many questions I might ask. Whenever a health issue has arisen, he's explained the condition fully & presented all of the possible treatment options, with no pressure to choose any particular one. Thus far, any/all problems have been treated promptly & resolved quickly. Last thing: Although it's always very clean (& waiting times are short), don't expect a luxurious/modern waiting area, etc.! I believe this is a conscious decision on their part to help keep prices affordable (which they definitely do). Obviously, I'm very pleased with the care received here and I plan to bring our future DOG here, as well... Took my Westie here in 2005. Vet diagnosed him with anemia and that's all that was said. No suggestions for treatment, no help whatsoever. After visiting five other vets and spending thousands of dollars, my dog died. To make matters worse, my husband had terminal cancer. I lost both of them within a year of each other. Reason for delayed review is because I'm looking for a new vet. This one comes highly recommended. I would not recommend him at all. He didn't care about my dog. At least the other vets tried and this one just blew me off. read more

a day ago-Edit I was going to another vet clinic for my dogs from their birth for about 12 years. One of my dogs (a chihuahua) come down with 4th stage congestive heart failure which the doctor found with her stethoscope and a $50 doctor visit. My mother said that was impossible and told me to let her vet (HAC) look at my dog and Dr. Darryl determined the same thing, probably charging more to do so. One good thing is after cardio and all, Dr. Darryl did save my dog's life and my dog is on heart medication for the rest of his life. So, I pulled my 2 dogs from the original clinic and started to take them to Hurst Animal Clinic. After about 8 months and MULTIPLE rounds of blood tests, teeth cleaning on my other dog, $100+ per month prescription drugs, I took my 2 dogs in for their annual vaccinations there. At my old clinic, the SAME exact vaccinations each and every year, even last year was $59 for each dog per my receipts, but was $117 per dog at Hurst Animal Clinic. I was waiting out in my car for hour and a half for their shots, and as multiple other customers with their pets were getting there after me and leaving before me, I contacted the clinic, to see what the holdup was. Finally, after the tech came out with my dogs and the preliminary bill, all I said was I had never paid that much for an annual before, but I paid it, no hesitation. I never did speak to Dr. Darryl about the bill, but apparently the tech went and told Dr. Darryl that I said he was all about the money, which I never said or even implied, and instead of contacting me, Dr. Darryl contacted my mother, repeating what the tech told him and to tell her he did not want my business and banned me from his clinic. Needless to say, I have gone back to my old clinic where I started and EVERYTHING, doctor visits, blood work is less costly, and the prescriptions refilled for life of the dogs for the SAME medications many of which are less than half the price per item. read more

They were so great with our 11 week puppy. Patient, understanding, and overall good. They were able to calm him for shots and everyone was so kind. I was worried at first because they don't accept pet insurance, but our pup got his 8-11 week baby shots, full exam, fecal exam, nose spray and heart worm medicine for only $80, and it was quick! Dr Daryl is amazing! I had left my older dog at the vet for boarding because she wasn't doing well. While I was on vacation I received a call from him stating she wasn't breathing well and would have to be put in an oxygen tent every hour or so. He said he would call in the morning. She made it through the night. When I went to pick her up I was told by a tech that Dr Daryl stayed with her all night and was found sleeping with her when they came in the next day. No one else would do that. I will always go to this vet clinic. read more

We have been taking our family pets and now my own pet here for years. They are exceptional with both cats and dogs. They ensure that if an animal is scared or not sure about something that they give them a lot of treats, snuggles and kisses and sniffs. Today the vet techs were AWESOME , my 1 year puppy had an ear infection and he was so scared and they didn't rush him at all for swabbing his ears or getting on the scale. Love it here! I love this place. It's been here a long time and they have an established clientele. They have been nothing but professional and compassionate with us, always. They see all kinds of animals and offer some boarding in addition to the vet services, which are not expensive. I consider my family very lucky to have found them as our dog sometimes needs a little extra help and they remember him and treat each of their clients like family. The Saturday wait can be long, as it's on a first-come first-served basis, but they will stay late and make sure to see you as long as you show up before closing time. My vet ran out of an expensive special diet that one of my cats must eat, and I had a very hard time finding another vet that stocked it. When I called Hurst Animal Clinic, I spoke with Betty (I think that was her name, anyway), who acted quite pleased to tell me that they were unable to help me because I was not a client. She would not even look to see if they stocked the food, actually would not even let me tell her what kind of food it was, and informed me in a very condescending tone (calling me "honey") that they were not a pharmacy for other veterinarians. This is a diet for cats with struvite crystals we are talking about here, not crack nuggets. I would have been happy to bring my cat in for an exam if that's what it took to get the food, because my cat needed it and I was getting desperate. But Betty did not even offer that option, her only answer was NO ("honey"). I guess Hurst Animal Clinic has enough clients and they don't really care about presenting a professional, caring image to clients of "other vets". I am in my thirties and don't appreciate being talked to as if I was a teenager. For the record, every other vet I spoke to was helpful and courteous, one vet's office manager even called the food sales rep to find out what local vets carry the food. Only Hurst Animal Clinic stood out as sub-standard. read more

I've been coming to HAC since 1993, and don't think there's a better place on earth to take your animals. The care my animals have received has always been worth whatever I was charged. They've been through 8 animals with me and I couldn't ask for more compassionate care. This hole in the wall has gone down down down. When my original vets Elite Vet Care closed it's doors with no notice I started using this MONEY HUNGRY business. Prices were twice the norm but the staff was pleasant. I spent $$$$ after $$$$ taking every penny pinching recommendation they offered. My fault that I never questioned their expertise or the cost. The last and final time I will ever use this so called Animal Clinic I had a $100 credit on file. The office staffed sucked and the bill was 2.5 times what I was expecting. I was getting flea meds and special food as well as antibiotics and pain meds plus an exam. When speaking to the Dr. on the phone about a $2000 surgery that might be needed for my dog's knee they were closing in 12 minutes so I rushed out the door to be able to be there by closing. When I got there they told me the cost which again was a shock. I had the $100 credit and it would be another $150. I told them I would need to call to call them back with a CC to cover the remainder in the morning. That is when the true colors of the business came out. They refused to give me the food and flea meds treating me like I was asking them to do the surgery for free. I have paid every single penny they have asked for and now they do not want to give me 5 mins to get home to get an additional form of payment. They treated me like I would probably steal the food and flea medicine. No you can not have it even though you have paid us $1000's and you pay every penny we ask and you have never left a balance on the books and you have a credit today, sorry your not a customer we trust enough to give you 5 mins to go home and call us with the rest of the balance. I said I would call in the morning since they were closing. You will have to pay everything now and make another trip to the office during the STAY AT HOME ORDER TIME, WE DON"T CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOU DOG WE ONLY CARE ABOUT YOUR MONEY. They will never ever get another penny. Being a loyal unquestioning customer to this business means nothing. Is that who you really want to trust with your beloved animal to? They would rather your pet suffer if you need 5 mins to get home for additional payment. read more

Best Vet I've Ever Been to! I love this place. It's smaller and not in the best part of town, but the people there are the best. Dr. Daryl and Dr Genny are the two best vets I have ever used. I have raised and taken care of 7 dogs in my life, so I have seen my fair share of vets. The reason I am writing this review is a year ago I moved an hour away from the clinic. I took my pug to another vet closer to my new home, and that vet (North Texas veterinary clinic) failed to fix a resistance ear infection for 7 MONTHS. Then they told me there was nothing they could do and suggested I have my pugs ear canal removed and basically make her def. I said screw that and screw you, I took my pug back to Hurst Animal Clinic and within a month the ear infection was gone. Hurst Animal Clinic is simply the best place to take your pets. (And if you live in Fort Worth / Keller) Stay the Hell away from North Texas Veterinary Clinic. The office staff are wonderful, but the actual Vets are incompetent morons.) read more

I had the best vet hospital before I moved to HEB and I was very worried I wouldn't find the same level of care for my pets(fur babies) - I couldn't be more wrong! The entire team at Hurst Animal Clinic is so compassionate, friend and helpful Bonus points for having clinic hours on Saturdays so I can come in. I got some not so good news about the health of my 13 year old baby. Dr Hawkins delivered the news in an easy to understand way and then walked me through what was going on in a way that I could completely understand, followed up with a hand out and a great plan of action. The doc & assistants got down on the floor with him, spoke softly, and were extremely gentle. They took their time, even though it was the last appointment of the day--not rushing us through. My cat does not handle car rides and strangers very well even when she feels OK;, let alone when she doesn't feel good:- ( Well, she came down sick and I had to take her to the animal clinic where they had to take her temperature, blood work, urine analysis and other things that cats hate; so, she was not a happy camper. But, they were all very patient, calmed her as best they could and handled her gently to make it as easy as possible for her. Good news, she got medicine and we're all doing better. I'm shocked at the negative reviews! Honestly, I'm a high-maintenance person (although it pains me to say that!) and I absolutely love Hurst Animal Clinic. We started going to this clinic a number of years ago and have been absolutely thrilled since Dr. Daryl took over in 2009. We had taken our older dog there for years prior to Dr. Daryl taking over the practice and had been satisfied, but never felt like part of the family. We do now. Our dog (who was about 12 at the time) started experiencing some issues - drinking a lot, urinating in the house, some food aggression, etc. Dr. Daryl figured out that our dog had Cushings disease. We were able to put him on a treatment plan that extended his life significantly! Dr. Daryl never encouraged us to do anything outside of our comfort range either from a treatment or financial perspective. Our dog, Bear, ended up having many additional issues including an enlarged heart, lung issues, etc. and Dr. Daryl always treated us and Bear with an extreme amount of compassion. I can't thank him enough. At one point, Bear was on upward of 6 pills per day - which was our choice. Dr. Daryl walked us through the pros and cons of each treatment, the efficacy, the anticipated outcome and was kind of enough to share what he would do if it was his own dog- always with a kind demeanor and an understanding heart. We lost Bear in March of 2011, but due to Dr. Daryl and Hurst Animal Clinic, we had 18 months more than we would have and we couldn't be more thankful. I also know that Dr. Daryl and the staff at Hurst Animal Clinic grieved with us and still continue to remember Bear as we do. In November of 2010, we had a cat adopt us. We are not cat people (or we didn't realize we were) but this cat stole our hearts. We tried to find another home for her, but quickly realized that we were destined to be her family. We took her to Dr. Daryl, as well, and he was just as kind to her. We have since added another kitty and a new dog (just 1 week ago) and all of them are just as much a part of the family of Hurst Animal Clinic as they are ours. I know very few offices that can ask, with confidence, which pet you are calling about when you call. When I call, if I leave it open at all, Debbie will ask me if I'm calling about Kitty (our first cat), Henry (our second cat), or Mercedes (our new puppy). I have never met a kinder, more compassionate vet than Dr. Daryl. He takes the best care of my pound puppies imaginable, taking time to love on them before starting the examination part of the visit. He offers solutions for problems and recommendations for dealing with behavioral issues, all while being the perfect combination of warm and professional. He had treated illnesses and injuries in addition to taking care of their preventative care needs and is always thorough, while never charging the exorbitant fees I have paid with previous vets. He is conservative in his care, and doesn't recommend anything he doesn't absolutely feel is necessary. There have been multiple times when he could have offered X-rays and expensive therapies but he explained why he didn't feel like they were necessary and when we should pursue them. My life would be incomplete without my dogs and it is made better by Dr. Daryl and the WONDERFUL staff at Hurst Animal Clinic. read more

Hands down the absolute best vet clinic in Hurst!!!!! I can not express in words how AWESOME the staff is and how they treated our dog. BJ was diagnosed with heart worms 3 years ago at Elite Vet Clinic in Hurst, and it definitely was devastating news. During the treatment process and all the follow up visits they did treat him well but there was so much staff change and none of the doctors knew BJ's history or anything about him, only what was written on paper. A couple of weeks ago BJ got really sick with a dry cough and we were very worried that it was his heart or lungs giving out due to the heart worms. So that afternoon we had taken him to his usual vet (Elite Vet Clinic) and they did absolutely nothing for our dog. We just couldn't believe that they let us walk out with our dog basically chocking and gasping for air. That same night we had to take our dog to the E.R. in Euless and there they treated us very well and gave him cough tablets and a injection to ease the cough just until we could get him into the cardiologist, and why couldn't Elite do the same?? Me and my family still question that!! A couple of days passed and we finally got an appointment to take him into the cardiologist in grapevine urgent animal clinic and let me tell you, unless you have 3000 dollars to pay up front, don't even waste your time! The cardiologist saw how severe his case was and how severe our dog was but she refused to even exam him, she didn't even check his heart beat or even touch him!!!! She was in no way showing any interest in dealing with our dog. We left just as upset as when we took him into his usual vet. All we wanted was answers to what was going on with our dog, and if he was going to be okay or was he suffering, or would he have to be put down. His own primary vet nor the cardiologist could give us answers!! We finally discovered Hurst Animal Clinic and like I said I can not explain in words how grateful we are to the vet tech Samantha and Dr. Daryl on how they handled BJ, they did a spectacular job!!!!! Our dog isn't the kind to be very friendly but they handled him with so much care and they definitely knew what they were doing. Dr. Daryl gave us the answers we were looking for and all it took was a simple X ray and ask me again why Elite or the cardiologist couldn't do that?? All BJ had was allergies and that's what was causing his dry cough. Dr. Daryl took X rays and gave him a steroid shot and changed up his medication a bit, and that's all he did to make our baby a healthy boy again. We can not thank y'all enough for everything y'all did for us. It was such agony to see him the way he was, and absolutely no one would help us until we found Hurst Animal Clinic. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone! the staff is absolutely amazing and they give you a peace of mind which everyone wants when it comes to your family. I took my pitty pup, Artemis, in for our first visit to this clinic today. We saw Dr. Genny and could not be happier. Ari was in pain and not feeling very well, but Dr. Genny was very gentle and patient with her and found out what was bothering her the entire time being thorough and making sure that I was put at ease as well. She took the time to make sure I understood the diagnosis and even came back after when I had thought of further questions that the vet tech was not comfortable answering. I think it is safe to say that with the other staff members we interacted with being just as friendly and helpful today, we have found our new family vet. This is a wonderful Veternary clinic. I called the Veternary practice that we used where we previously lived to ask about someone in the Hurst area. They recommended Dr Genny. We were able to get in the same day when my dog was in pain. The entire staff was very friendly. A couple of different vet techs came out to meet her the waiting room. They brought treats and lots of love. Dr Genny was super sweet. The office is old, but it is clean and they are in the process of an expansion. They are also reasonably priced. I'm pretty surprised at the negative reviews as well. My experience has been fantastic. My mainecoon as well as my puppy have both been very sick this year. When I called to take my cat in I didn't have an appointment, but they took her in graciously and worked hard (with as little expense as possible) to get her better, while keeping me in touch the entire time. When either of my animals go in they are so kind and even call to check up on them. I had a family vet in Lubbock for over 20yrs and never received the kind of care or service that the Hurst Animal Clinic has provided. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

Five stars isn't nearly enough to describe this oasis for ailing pets. Scout, my 17 year old (going on six months) cat friend, was dying. He adopted me sixteen years ago and made sure I had plenty of attention. I wanted to make sure his last moments were trauma free and that I was with him. The staff and Dr., all lovely young ladies, made this happen. Sorry I don't remember their names; I wasn't trauma free at the time. A few days later I received a sympathy card along with a nice poem with all their signatures. They didn't have to do that. How nice and thoughtful is that? If ever I'm taken in by another furry friend this is the clinic who will see to it's medical needs. My thanks to them. read more

Great vet, great staff! We just moved to Hurst, so I took my dog Charlie here today for a "meet and greet." Charlie can be nervous about being at the vet's, but the staff took their time getting him comfortable about being there. They didn't rush him, and they let him get used to everything they were doing. They just loved all over him...by the time they did the blood draw and trimmed his nails, they were his best friends. Charlie is a little afraid of men, but Dr. Daryl was so gentle with him that Charlie didn't mind the exam at all. Everyone there was so knowledgeable and friendly that, by the time we left, I felt like we had being going there forever. Very reasonable fees, too. And quick to get an appointment -- I called yesterday and we were seen this morning. I HIGHLY recommend Hurst Animal Clinic. read more
