This small boutique specializes in female clothing, accessories, and fun knick knacks. I purchased my favorite corduroy pants here, as well as a few tops/dresses. I love that every item is unique and you won't find it copy/pasted across the Venice boardwalk. It's also a great place to search for the perfect gift. I found a dainty gemini necklace for one of my best friends and she's worn it non-stop for months. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area! My friend, cousin, and I were exploring Lido and had grabbed iced drinks from La La Land a few stores down because it was an extremely hot day. We popped into this store and were genuinely excited to look around. We weren't greeted or asked if we needed any help, but I honestly didn't pay much attention to that at first because I was intrigued by the inventory and enjoying looking around. As we made our way toward the back, a man approached us, I'm not sure if he was an employee, manager, or owner, and rather rudely told us not to put our drinks down on the counter. I immediately apologized. We had absolutely no issue respecting that request. My friend then asked him the price of a wallet she was interested in purchasing. He told her the price, but then proceeded to point at the wallet and say to her in an extremely condescending tone, "Do you see what you did from those sugary hands?" He continued making comments about her "sugary fingers" touching the leather. We literally gasped at his comments, her hands were not sugary or sticky. There was a tiny, pea-sized amount of condensation/moisture from holding an iced drink. Regardless, if he was concerned about the merchandise, there were countless respectful and professional ways he could have communicated that. The issue was never being asked to keep our drinks off the counter or to be careful with the merchandise, we completely understand that. It was the way he chose to speak to us. His tone and comments felt unnecessarily belittling and made all three of us extremely uncomfortable. What makes it even more disappointing is that my friend was genuinely interested in purchasing the wallet. We walked in excited to shop and instead left feeling unwelcome and talked down to. Beautiful inventory, but the way you treat people walking into your store matters. You never know who is coming in ready to make a purchase, and no customer should be made to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed simply for browsing your store. Unfortunately, the interaction completely ruined the experience for us, and we will not be returning.

It was incredibly expensive at many thousands of dollars. Hey, a boy can dream. They also have featured artists on a monthly basis with unique works you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else. They have a unique selection of goods that you cannot find anywhere. I do a lot of poetry and visual art, and coming in here almost felt like walking into a modern museum. Every piece of jewelry, home décor or unconventional flower pots seems to have a message that reaches out to you once you catch a second glance. It's not as if you are buying home goods and decorations, but every piece in this store has a story to tell. There is that old saying " You should seek to understand, and then be understood", but at this store its almost a liaison between you and your sense of style. When you buy a piece at Chariots on Fire and place it in your house, people will see it and try understand its meaning; but ultimately they will understand you. Very few stores have had the ability to do this with the merchandise they carry. Chariots on Fire is truly one of the best hidden gems on Abbot Kinney in Venice!
