I had a very uncomfortable experience at Toyworks today. There were two women at the counter…read morelooking at Needohs, and they had a few in their hands. I reached over to pick up a duplicate Needoh so I could look at it and check the price. At the exact same time, I heard one of the women say in Spanish to get the other one as well. I immediately said, "Oh, here you go." She politely responded that it was okay and that I could have it. At that point, the owner stepped in and told the woman that he had more in the back, and then told me that I was being rude for reaching over them. I explained that I was not trying to be rude and that I reached for what I thought was an extra item to look at the price. What upset me most was the way he spoke to me. I felt humiliated being called rude in front of other customers over what was clearly an innocent misunderstanding. The interaction became so uncomfortable that I ended up becoming rude myself as I was leaving, which is completely out of character for me and not how I normally conduct myself. I understand that reaching around someone could potentially be perceived as rude, but there was clearly no malicious intent, and I immediately tried to be polite once I realized the situation. His need for confronting and embarrassing me in front of other customers was out of line and unprofessional. Safe to say I will never return to that store or give them my business.

We were aware that the employees keep a larger dog behind the counter, but no guidance or warnings were given about keeping small dogs away from that area. While our little white chihuahua was sniffing near the counter area, the larger dog pounced and caused bleeding on our dog's ear, likely from contact with its claw. When we informed the employees, there was no apology, and only afterward did they mention that they are unsure how their dog reacts around small dogs and that they sometimes keep her away. We asked for a napkin to help with the bleeding and were not assisted, though they did provide the code for the nearest restroom so we could clean her ear ourselves. With clearer communication upfront about their dog and guidance for customers with small pets, this situation may have been avoided.

This is the first time I have ever written a negative review…read more After repeatedly visiting this store and after spending many hundreds of dollars over the past WEEK (which is significant considering the average cost per item at the store), not to mention hundreds of others over the last year, the owner and the store manager just falsely accused my wife of stealing gum And hair clips. The accusation is bizarre considering how much money we actually spent at the store versus the items she accused us of stealing, not to mention my wife's general morals and character. In reality, the gum and hair clips were paid for at the end of their visit to the store along with all the other items purchased (multiple gifts in triplicate for our nieces and daughter). After my wife tried to explain all of this, and after being met with continued rudeness, she asked if our three year old could use the bathroom and they denied her the right to do so. Clearly, we will never come back. I will also seek out other avenues to post this message on including the better business beuerau and chamber of commerce. This isn't the first time I have seen a brown skinned woman falsely accused of shoplifting, and I'm sure it won't be the last, but it is disgusting none the less. I wish I could give zero stars. I feel sorry for the store owner who must be a sad and miserable person to act so bizarrely and rudely against her own interest. Our dollars will go elsewhere and I encourage you to do the same.
