I arrived at the shop (08-17-26 09:00) and was met with a woman who seemed perturbed she had to put down her personal phone call to assist me. She then asked me to remove the "Doghouse" from the engine and I replied "what is a doghouse". She then repeated her command and refused to clarify what she was asking. Her demeanor was piss poor and I since left and hit another smog shop and they never asked me to remove anything. I do not recommend this shop as they have no customer service skills. read more

Went to get a smog at 10:50am, female tech was helping a guy with a smog. She finished him up and looked at me and pointed at a sign on her door saying she was closed for "lunch" and would be back at 11:30am. I confronted her and she said with an attitude to read the sign and went it the office and locked the door. read more

Very unpleasant employee. I was her only customer this morning yet she was very "stressed out" and didn't need "my attitude" when I expressed I just need to register my vehicle. Her card dmv card swiper wasn't working and she immediately accused my cards strip of being deactivated. Paid for the expensive smog and was told very rudely to go to a kiosk. The smog place across the street confirmed it was not me, that she is in fact awful. Maybe don't have a miserable person working in a position dealing with people. read more

First time I went there was last year to smog our car. It was great. The guy there got it done, was nice, and it took about 20 minutes and I was out and getting my Tabs at the DMV. I would have given this place five stars.....till today.... My wife wanted to do it this year and went there to get the same car smogged while I was at work to update our tabs. The same car I took in last year on my own, and took 20 minutes. My wife was INSISTANT on going there because she had a $29.99 coupon they had on the face of their website. First, they had a lady working there who was rude to my wife. So much so I had to field a phone call in the middle of work because it was taking her over 50 minutes to get our car smogged. The lady gave my wife shit about the coupon saying it expired "two years ago" - hehe, well then b****, why is your "Expired" coupon still on the website. Maybe you need to hire someone else to take care of your website. I run one myself and code in HTML - it isn't that hard! Second, she said she could not verify the VIN# - she was looking through the front of the windshield, when the guy did it last year, he scanned the label inside the door and had zero problems. Christ, my old truck from 1993 was scanned the same way and this thing isn't even that old. Does this woman daily drive a 1950's car or something? Look lady, your need for an eye doctor is not our problem, maybe you're not fit for this job. While my wife was waiting for things to finish some guy walked down and gave her a thumbs down while she was chewing me out about my "yelling" because my headset is powerful, I was already fucking whispering. If that guy had been near me, I would have hit him. Apparently he works there - hrmph, f***ing "white knight". Well, we passed and got what we needed but rest assured I'm not going there again. It was bad enough that the patrons were having a fist fight in the parking lot, and the fact that the shop has Trump wares being advertised in the lobby still was something I was willing to overlook from last year. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I did learn that while smog checking a hybrid, the car may need to be put in neutral otherwise the RPM's might not register on the machine and the check will be invalid. The attendant was friendly and got the job done. *The parking lot is very busy and the spaces are tight, so be on the lookout when backing out of the space. read more

If you don't have a Tesla, you are probably getting your car or truck smog checked annually. It's that time again so once again, I came over to Hutch's which is only a few miles from home. You put into one of the parking spaces located right in front of the small shop. The equipment sits out front and someone comes out, checks out the mileage , hooks up your car to a machine, runs a minute or two test. You pass (hopefully) and pop inside to pay the $26 fee. The results are sent immediately to the DMV so you can go home and finish your registration renewal online. Easy breezy. The guy was friendly and the whole process took less than 5 minutes. I've heard you can get it cheaper at some other places but the convenience and efficient service was worth the few extra bucks for me. read more

We had a horrible experience here recently. Our car failed the smog test, which it had never done before but I understand is not the fault of the facility. As my wife and I were standing there trying to figure out where to take it, the woman who worked there said "I don't know what you're still doing here!" She was very rude and unhelpful. We left, but will never come back to Hutch's, and I strongly recommend you take your car elsewhere for a smog check, unless you like encountering rude, defensive and just generally nasty people. read more

First of all, she is terrible at customer service. No smile. No friendly greeting. Then she told me there was a problem with the plug in my car that gives her diagnostic info. She told me to go get a service appt with my auto repair people that will fix my plug or my car can't get smogged. I went to Smog Bros for a second opinion. There was nothing wrong with the outlet and they had me smogged in under 10 min. Skip Hutch's and go to Smog Bros. They are friendly, fast and only $25. read more

Took my mothers totally stock 1999 Toyota Avalon in for a smog paid the fee, the woman that looked at my car bent down to look at the spot where the data/ computer reader would be plugged in. About five minutes late she told me all done I paid then she gave me a failing report and told me the car had been tampered with. She advised that would receive discount when I have repairs done and bring it back in for a new test Two issued, first ( and I may be wrong ) but I think a 1999 vehicle needs to be smogged via the tail pipe. Second ( and this was confirmed two days later by Toyota in Reno. The vehicle had not been tampered with and the car immediately passed smog when they texted it . The car wash at this location is great and with a better technician the smog service might be good but not with the older woman I dealt with, an idiot. read more

Today my husband and I took our 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander for a smog check. it failed which was a total surprise to us as we have never owned a car that failed. The woman named Tony gave us a few pages of paperwork with a list of companies names, addresses and phone numbers. While still there I called one of the companies and the guy on the phone asked for the failed code on the paperwork. I couldn't find the code so I tried to ask Tony who was watching a video or something on her phone, by saying "excuse me" no respone, so I said it again " excuse me" still no response, then the third time "excuse me" she finally look up from her phone and snapped at us "what! why are you guys still here?". i said "I'm trying to understand this paperwork so I can make an appointment ". she said " I can't diagnose this". I said "I just need to locate a code,and thought you could find it for me.". I finally found the code the service person on the phone was asking for. Tony was so rude it really took me by surprise. We were the only customers the entire time we were there. We went out to our car and I told my husband I want to get her name because she needs to be reported, so I went back in and asked her for her name. She said Tony, I said thank you because I cam going to report how rude you were. She snapped back "I don't care, report me". So I did. This was such a disappointing experience but I thought the owner needs to know how this one employee treated me and my husband. read more

We have gone to HUTCHES SMOG on double R for over 10 years. The 2 men there were very nice and fast. I went last Friday [August 9,2024] and the woman inside had her head laying down on the desk. she said WE ARE CLOSED, my system is down and I am sick. I said I am sooo sorry. [I drove to Walmart and got her a bottle of ginger ale. I took it back, and she yelled WE ARE CLOSED.....I said I know I brought you a ginger ale I hope you feel better. TODAY [Tuesday Aug 13, 2024] I pulled in and there was a car in the laft lane so I pulled in a space away on the right lane. My left front tire was touching the white line but I was inside my lane. A small white car pulled in and I couldnt open my door. I pounded on my window and said I cant get out, then I said it again. The car pulled out. I got out of my car, and the white car pulled back in. The older man getting his car smogged said your truck is crooked I said I know but I was going to straighten it. The EMPLOYEE YELLED AT ME "you didnt need to yell at her. I said I just pounded on my window and yelled I cant get out. Then the car pulled out and pulled over after I got out and stood in line behind me. [We were not arguing at all]. The EMPLOYEE yelled again THAT I WAS IN HER LANE, [but I wasent]. I asked her if she remembered that I brought her a gingerale on Friday when she was sick. She barked YES BUT THAT DOESNT GIVE YOU THERIGHT TO YELL AT HER AND GIVE HER A DIRTY LOOK. [The woman was standing behind me, so I looked at her and said I didnt give you a dirty look , I cant see you] the sun was in all of our eyes. I didnt want to explain to 3 people that I had a brain tumor and it affects my eye sight. I was going to straighten my truck. I said to the EMPLOYEE, "you know, this is not worth, my getting upset. So As I squeezed between my rear view mirror and the white car's, I looked up at the EMPLOYEE and she yelled GOOD ........[god forgive me, I know people are all going through something] but I yelled YOU ARE A B---- ! and drove off [as the old man laughed]. I called Hutches, and posted on NEXTDOOR and then on YELP. I do not expect to hear from the NEW OWNERS of HUTCHES but one can hope right????? Zero stars should be an option. Let's start with rude service. The lady working is insufferable and smug. Came in for a smog a day after having car serviced. She repeatedly fiddles with the ignition and then tells me the test failed because the check engine light is on. She said it's not protocol to alert a customer to a check engine light being on before a test is conducted. The light was not on when I arrived. You get charged for the failed test but says she's can't tell me why it failed. It failed because the check engine light was on. Would not have smogged it if I knew it was on. Came home, inspected the car. Check engine light goes off. Took to another smog shop and it passed, no problem, literally less than an hour after suffering through her poor customer service and lack of technical ability. Will be contacting DMV on Monday. This place should not be allowed to perform smogs if this is who runs the show. Also learned that this shop is no longer owned by the company with the car wash on McCarran and Kietzke. read more
