After some inquiry I find out it is that way all the time, year-round. After getting over the Christmas décor shock, I settled down with a double bourbon Manhattan to review the menu, which was also surprising in that it was a handwritten individual daily menu, not the standard menu of most restaurants with nothing special for the day. And, the menu was awesome with great selections from veal parm to prime rib, pork chops Angus streaks, salmon, etc. About 18 choices in all. I selected the prime rib rare and Beloved went for the grilled salmon. Both dishes arrived precisely as ordered and we found both to be totally delicious. I also was impressed with the price of $25.95 for such a good cut of prime rib, a regular bargain compared to what I am used to paying for the same elsewhere. With its outstandingly good service and good food, Flamingo's Hollywood Steak House is a place I can recommend, especially if you love Christmas year-round.

Along with the menu, we received a document which briefly details the restaurant's history. After taking our drinks order, server Ronale explained menu items of significance such as their famous onion rings, homemade salad dressing and hand cut steaks. Our server kept our dinner at a comfortable pace and was aware each time we needed something. Our onion ring appetizer was superb. The French onion soup was tasty. The broth was delicious. Our steaks were expertly prepared to our liking. At the conclusion of dinner we decided to have a night cap. A dirty martini and an espresso martini sealed the deal for us. We highly recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to return for another dinner.

That said, the prices were kind of wild for what you get. The filet was good and cooked well, but the sides were lacking. The lobster thermador was $72 and all you got was tail meat, which felt pretty disappointing. The side salad was tiny and the house dressing was cloyingly sweet. The homemade bread was delicious and honestly one of the best parts of the meal. Dessert cakes were okay, nothing amazing. Overall, great ambiance and service, but the food didn't quite match the price.

Everyone was so friendly that you just had to smile; our waitress Lori was particularly nice and efficient. The food at Maywood Grill was superb and done to perfection. Their fried chicken sandwich surpassed all chicken contenders and their onion rings were sublime. However, it was their pizza that was the star of the show, as it has been a long time that a pie checked all the boxes. First, the crust was just the right mix of crunch and chewy goodness that thought I had stepped into New Haven, CT. Next, the cheese was real, not that plastic rubbish you find masquerading as cheese from so main big chains. Each slice was perfect example of how pizza should be done. Without a doubt, I will most definitely return a slice of Maywood Grill's perfect pizza pie.

Upon entering we saw a "Happy Birthday" sign and were greeted by two lovely servers. A first bite was served while we waited for our cocktails . It was a chunk of very sweet watermelon on a wooden coaster. Next came some delicious bread with a leek butter. My daughter added the 4 shot cocktails to our experience and they were fun! Jell-O shots elevated quite a bit. Our appetizer was chef's choice which was burrata with grilled eggplant, peaches, greens and baguette. All so good! We enjoyed some extra cocktails from the menu, a blackberry mojito and a white Negroni with the appetizer. Then the entrees came along. I got the wild mushroom ravioli and she got the Faroe Islands salmon. This was the only part of the meal you had a choice in and you have to advise them ahead of time what you would like to eat as the main course. The final course was a creme brûlée serves in a 4 ounce mason jar. All in all, excellent quality of food and service with reasonable portions. We did not leave hungry. The screened in dining pod itself was very comfortable. It was a pleasant summer day so we did not need the fan or the heater which was available. They are nestled in the woods and sunshine peeks through the trees for a most serene dining experience. I commented that even if it were raining, you would be comfortable due to the design of the pods. There is a wide overhang so the rain wouldn't bother you coming in through the screens. If you are looking for a unique way to celebrate or just want to feel one with nature, this is an excellent option to consider. I highly recommend trying one out!

I chose the grilled ahi tuna with herb polenta, pineapple relish and veggies. Day of parking was a breeze. There is so much of it. Staff was incredibly helpful navigating where we needed to be. Our servers were so great at explaining all the dishes to us. A welcome plate is provided with some bites the chef wants you to try. For the first course I chose the shrimp skewer, biggest shrimp I've ordered out. The spring salad was delicious, I loved the vinaigrette. Next was the papparella pasta was sooooo good. Only complaint is wish I had more. My main that I chose earlier that week the ahi tuna was incredible. Such a big piece and much more food than I was expecting. For dessert the creme brûlée and some truffles. I loved looking around at the art work and design of the home. It is such a cool place. Looking out into the woods was like a fairy tale. Will absolutely have to be back to experience sitting in a pod.
