I primarily go to hutches on Wednesday night for Steak night, because it's too good of a deal not to pass up.

It's like I…read morewas there in August and the entire place is all dolled up and lavishly decorated for, would you believe, Christmas! After some inquiry I find out it is that way all the time, year-round. After getting over the Christmas décor shock, I settled down with a double bourbon Manhattan to review the menu, which was also surprising in that it was a handwritten individual daily menu, not the standard menu of most restaurants with nothing special for the day. And, the menu was awesome with great selections from veal parm to prime rib, pork chops Angus streaks, salmon, etc. About 18 choices in all. I selected the prime rib rare and Beloved went for the grilled salmon. Both dishes arrived precisely as ordered and we found both to be totally delicious. I also was impressed with the price of $25.95 for such a good cut of prime rib, a regular bargain compared to what I am used to paying for the same elsewhere. With its outstandingly good service and good food, Flamingo's Hollywood Steak House is a place I can recommend, especially if you love Christmas year-round.

That said, the prices were kind of wild for what you get. The filet was good and cooked well, but the sides were lacking. The lobster thermador was $72 and all you got was tail meat, which felt pretty disappointing. The side salad was tiny and the house dressing was cloyingly sweet. The homemade bread was delicious and honestly one of the best parts of the meal. Dessert cakes were okay, nothing amazing. Overall, great ambiance and service, but the food didn't quite match the price.

Along with the menu, we received a document which briefly details the restaurant's history. After taking our drinks order, server Ronale explained menu items of significance such as their famous onion rings, homemade salad dressing and hand cut steaks. Our server kept our dinner at a comfortable pace and was aware each time we needed something. Our onion ring appetizer was superb. The French onion soup was tasty. The broth was delicious. Our steaks were expertly prepared to our liking. At the conclusion of dinner we decided to have a night cap. A dirty martini and an espresso martini sealed the deal for us. We highly recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to return for another dinner.

My husband had heard about "The Maples" ....a little throw-back SteakHouse in Charleroi, Pa.. He…read moreimmediately decided we also had to try this "diamond in the rough so to speak", just to see what all the fuss was about. The recommendation had come from a respected "self proclaimed" Foodie friend of ours, he said in fact that the filet he had gotten was one of the finest he'd ever eaten. The filet, my personal favorite cut of meat, was said to rival any other. So, true to our nature we had to get there ASAP. My husband and I having eaten at some of the finest steakhouses in world for work, combined with our vacation get-away's, including major cities, cruises and resorts. We had to see for ourselves. So with reservations for 3 couples, I have to admit we were anxious to get there. As some other reviewer's have stated; it doesn't look like much on the outside, but you walk in and the place is adorable! A very comfortable atmosphere, very friendly service. Our waitress was extremely attentive. I won't go into details but the bartender even went over and above to make my evening perfect. The menu is simple, but enough of a choice for everyone. I got my filet mignon med-rare, a baked potato loaded with sour cream and butter, and some crabmeat on the side--it was fantastic. My husbands meal also very good. All at the table enjoyed every bite and I don't honestly believe there was a bite left on any plate when we finished. Did I mention clean? It was the cleanest restaurant I've ever been in. So clean I found myself looking for something to be out of place. The chef came out to talk to us, and I swear when we left half the staff said goodbye, now if that doesn't make you want to drive on down to Charleroi, Pa. for a good steak dinner then I don't know what more I could say! We absolutely loved our experience and we-will certainly be back, and not just to retrieve the scarf that I left on the back of my chair either. Which by the way, the waitress called us to say it had been left behind. We had enough time to turn right around but we were in a caravan headed on to the next water hole. And, my husband stated, " No problem, it gives us a reason to come back, we'll bring our adult kids down in a couple weeks!"

Food was great but the restaurant is in desperate need of an upgrade. The bar is not currently open…read moreand reservations are highly recommended. There is also currently no menu to view (they just tell you what they have). The price seemed to be a little high considering the atmosphere.

When you walk in, there is a dining area to the right and a coffee shop with pastries to the left. Though we had to wait a bit for a table, we enjoyed looking at the yummy treats in the case as everything looked fabulous. Sunday is brunch so both breakfast and lunch menus were available. My daughter got a burger and Caesar salad, my husband got an omelette, and I got some onion rings and free rein to eat off their plates. Everything was delicious but the onion rings were a standout! It reminded me of a blooming onion in the best way! The strawberry jelly for the toast was also among the best I've ever had, and clearly made in house as it tasted so fresh. Our server was very pleasant but things moved a little slowly and we had to ask multiple times for our side of dressing. I was also shocked to see that a cup of coffee was $5! Overall though, this place was a delight and I wish I would have saved room for dessert.
