Great buttery handheld somewhat pigs in a blanket with yummy filling. I've had good kolaches and I've had bad kolaches and I just wasn't impressed by the inside filling of these kolaches. Yes the price point is two dollars each, but I've had the same priced kolaches with more cheese and more filling. The exterior is fluffy, has a strong buttery flavor, nice and soft. The ham was a complete letdown. As you can see, it's maybe two thin slices or even one slice rolled into the kolache with the little amount of cheese. What saved the experience was sausage, love the cheese and the jalapeños, an amazing bite when you bite into it all at once. Stopped by after church, at about 11:15 on a Sunday morning, and the line of customers went out the door. There was only one man at the counter at first, so things progressed pretty slowly, which was a bit annoying, but understandable. At last a second guy came to help and that sped things up a great deal-I could tell the original guy was grateful for the help. Fast forward to the food-we got a dozen assorted donuts, a croissant sandwich and 4 kolaches. The donut selection was really good, as was the selection for the more savory items. My kids tore into the donuts as soon as we got home, and they say they were fresh and delicious. I had an old fashioned donut with my coffee, and it hit the spot-it was crunchy where it should have been and soft in just the right parts. The kids reported that the yeast donuts were melt in your mouth good, and the hubby loved the ham and Swiss croissant. My family recommends this donut shop, for sure. Went to visit a donut shop we hadn't been to before on a Saturday morning as treat with my son. To start, we decided to eat in because we needed to be in the area, which probably isn't the norm. The actual inside itself I would describe as dingy with grease and splatters on walls that just didn't feel clean. The main eating area was cluttered with drink storage. Service itself was quick enough. The donuts themselves were nothing to write home about. They were simple, but inexpensive. You get what you'd expect at the price point. I had a sausage, cheese, and jalapeño kolache on the other hand and was disappointed. I know many of the Texas donut shops have decided that hot dogs in a bun are kolaches, which I generally disagree with, but in this case the cheese and jalapeño components largely amount to using prepackaged cheddar/jalapeño links and putting it into a pastry. The pastry itself was flakey and warm, but overall a letdown when I'm not expecting a pig in a blanket. Went on a later Sunday morning and nearly everything we got was dry! They had a great variety of options, but the flavor and textures just weren't there. Due to the volume of items in the case I wouldn't be surprised if they were baked days ago. This is really the only donut place without driving 15 minutes and they seem to know that and be fine with the quality. They have some small tables to sit and enjoy treats there. The guy behind the counter was friendly and asked if we wanted things warmed up even. We ordered some of the glazed donut holes, jalapeño sausage and cheese kolache and jalapeño sausage croissant. The donut holes were very good. It didn't last long with us! The kolache was just what I like! Spicy and good. The croissant was buttery and flaky. It was baked perfectly! The croissant didn't pack a spicy kick like the kolache. They were both devoured quickly! There are a few tables to sit at inside, but not many since most of the patrons here were getting stuff to go. They have fridges with beverages. I just moved to the area and so far the people have been awesome, well with the exception of Hutto Donuts. I looked for donut shops in the area that were open early so I could buy a couple dozen for my co-workers. The website said they open at 5am on the weekday. I drove out of my way to go there but when I got there at 6:10am they appeared closed. I went to the door and saw the sign hanging on the door which also said "opens at 5am". I tried to open it but it was locked. A man came from the back and I pointed to the sign saying "It says you open at 5am." What did he do then? Tell me "Sorry but we are closed." No. Did he explain why I couldn't give him my money for donuts? Nope. He literally shooed my away like I was an annoying bug or a vagrant dog, then he turned around and went to the back of the store ignoring my knocks on the door. parking is sightly irritating when full, people tend to just park in front of the businesses causing a jam. I think the donuts and kolaches are overpriced, but this is to be expected since they are the only donut place in town. Staff is friendly and service is good. If you're in the mood for a donut or have a donut crowd, this would be an OK place to go in a pinch. Nothing spectacular about the food, kinda hard to mess up a donut. I'm kinda torn because I prefer to support local/small businesses but it's difficult to do this when they price hike because they're the only place. The only reason this business stays open is because there are no other donut shops in Hutto. Their service is beyond bad and their products are mediocre. I ordered a cinnamon nut roll, but when I got home it was just a plain cinnamon roll so I took it back for an exchange. I should have saved the gas, The man behind the counter, in his early 40's, told me that I did not order my roll with nuts. I said yes I did, he said no I didn't. So I gave him back his roll without nuts and he gave me the cinnamon roll with nuts. He did not care about me as a customer in any way because he knows he has the market tied up in Hutto. This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced!! I asked for a sausage biscuit and the lady gave me a sausage egg and cheese. This was not noticed till I got in the car and gave it to my grandson and he is 7 so he says Mimi this has egg and cheese which he will not eat. I woke up one morning wanting a donut but not wanting to brave morning rush hour to get to the best donut place around (Round Rock Donuts), so my husband and I ventured here out of my sugar addicted desperation. After having tried a few things (or trying to try a few things), I will say that "desperation" is the only thing that would bring me back to Hutto Donuts again. I ordered 2 glazed, 2 chocolate filled, a cinnamon roll (not the big gooey iced kind, the glazed kind you get from donut shops), and my husband got 2 more donuts plus a kolache. He said the kolache was fine but not Shipley or RRDonuts good. The glazed, that on which I believe all donut shops should be judged, had a strange texture and the flavor and glaze was unremarkable. As far as the chocolate filled...well, I honestly don't know, because when I went to bite into it, they were LEMON filled. At least I assume that's what bright yellow filling is supposed to taste like. It was just extremely sweet and gelatinous with no distinctive flavoring, but I find this a problem among most fruit filled donuts (yes, sorry, even RRDonuts, but all their other offerings and service MORE make up for it). The cinnamon roll was more like a glazed donut in the shape of a cinnamon roll with the slightest hint of cinnamon to it. A real let down, not just because of the lack of flavor, but because it also had that same weird texture as the glazed. Cost for all of this was reasonable (I mean, it would've been if they'd been good and/or correct), maybe $10. The doughnuts here are amazing along with the kolaches. However don't order the breakfast tacos. They won't make you a fresh one, instead they microwave one that's been sitting for who knows how long. Plus it taste horrible, and I love almost any breakfast taco. read more
