This place has seriously gone downhill over the past couple of months. Sometimes they are open and sometimes they are closed - no explanation. So not reliable place to count on being open. Also they have no choice, my best guess is that they are moving product until it all sells regardless of freshness. There is also funky smell to the place, not sure what that is all about but "phew". Time to find a new donut shop to give my business to. read more

The apple fritter is not a pastry. The dark color (see the photos) is due to the apple: the texture of this treat is something like crystallized apple. As a tiny child, I loved a local apple ice cream. If Sarena's apple fritter were ice cream, it would taste like my memory of that ice cream. An unsuspecting donut shop in a strip mall with only a few places to sit. Staff are quick and they aim to move people through quickly. There were a few folks who came in who staff recognized while we there, so it's clearly a spot locals keep coming back to. This is not a place for coffee, so look elsewhere if you're trying to find a coffee shop: they have a coffee maker next to the register and you pour black coffee yourself. Think gas station coffee. It _is_ a great place for donuts. We had their sour cream and a maple bar, and the dough and flavors of both were great. We also tried their kolaches (jumbo jalapeño and normal/plain) and they were also good, with the jalapeño being the better tasting of the two we tried. read more

In my humble opinion, these are the best donuts in Round Rock. The donuts are always fresh, the people that run the shop are friendly, and while there is sometimes a line you can still get your donuts pretty quickly. The kids agree with me and when I ask where they want to get donuts from, this is always the first place requested. My recommendations when you visit: Glazed - yes, it may seem basic to go with the glazed but I recommend because they execute on it so well. Fresh, light, and soft, this donut is fantastic and just shows how Sarena's stands above the other donut shops in town Sour Cream Old Fashioned - another of my favorites from here and something I usually get when visiting. Pumpkin cake - I just got this one today. I think it's more of a seasonal donut and I was a little skeptical but am glad I tried it. The pumpkin flavor isn't overwhelming and the donut itself wasn't dry like some other pumpkin donuts that I have had. Definitely worth a try if your there when this is available. read more

This small mom and pop donut shop is conveniently located just a block off the highway in a strip mall. After seeing so many positive reviews, wanted to check this place, so stopped by weekend morning. Place is small, old and underwhelming, coffee area needs a real good cleaning. Frankly the whole place itself needs a deep cleaning. We order 2 breakfast tacos, 1egg and potato's, 1cheese, 1chocolate donut and 1 apple fritters. There were one couple befoRe us, after us quickly there was a line 4-5 people. For the tacos we waited 10-15 mins. Tacos, feels kinda plain, egg and potatoes means it's soft potatoes and scrambled egg with no seasoning. Cheese means, egg, potatoes and cheese, it's totally bland, tacos comes with salsa which is oK but not sufficient so ask for extra. Apple fritters when you take 1st bite, you like it bUt after couple of bites you just can't eat it, it's soooooo sweet. Chocolate donut was ok nothing special. I don't think we'll be back! read more

After a workout, I was craving a breakfast taco and found this place closeby. I decided to give it a shot and ordered a bacon breakfast taco and an apple fritter. The breakfast taco did take about 5 minutes to make but it was the better of the two. They stuff their breakfast tacos with tons of egg and it is a super big portion. The salsa that they give is pretty tasty to with just the right amount of heat. The apple fritter was massive but felt a little hard. Maybe this was because I arrived at 11am to pick up breakfast. Still it was pretty good but can't wait to taste a fresh one. I would definitely recommend this place. It's a smaller shop and doesn't have a line like the popular one in Round Rock. Though I think those donuts are better, there is an awesome backup option. Plus they do breakfast tacos and donuts, not a lot of places combine the two. read more

Before Covid this was a 5 star breakfast restaurant. If it was simply that they can't find staff to work, I would have kept the 5 star rating, I can wait! The breakfast tacos used to be absolutely delicious and the donuts tasted hand made. I don't know how the donuts tasted this time, I came in a few hours after opening and they only had made three trays of donuts. The Lady was by herself. The problem is that said donuts were covered in flys and a moth. I ordered my normal 3 potato, egg and cheese breakfast tacos. This normally costs me $7 something. This time, I was charged $9 something. I was really confused by this. I had a mask on, was cheerful, hadn't said anything about the bugs on the donuts. Maybe they upped the prices and hadn't changed the prices on the board? I shrugged it off, the breakfast tacos are worth it. Then a guy came in, ordered 3 sausage, egg and cheese tacos and was only charged $7 something. I took a deep breath, wished I hadn't tipped but kept my mouth closed. Maybe she thought I said 4 tacos? Nope, I got home to three tacos covered in American cheese slices. The kind that doesn't taste like real cheese. I'm glad they survived Covid, but I'm not going back and I'm no longer telling all my friends to go here. I raved about this place for years, now I'm really sad that although they are still open, the quality of the food did not survive the pandemic. read more

I used to take the kids every Saturday morning when they were little and still try to get over there at least once a month. We always order breakfast tacos and of course get donut holes and donuts. Call ahead to order the tacos as they make them when you order and they come out hot! Everything here is really good from the kolaches to donuts to breakfast tacos and breakfast sandwiches. The staff/owners are fantastic. They are super friendly and even after not going in for a while they remember you. Stopped in for donut holes for the nurses again. Three shops in three days. The location and exterior do not scream "stop here," but I drove there based on yelp reviews. The interior is simple and the seating is not conducive to breakfast and coffee with friends but that was t my mission anyway! The Sausage kolache was very good. The bread was a cross between a croissant and a delicious dinner roll. Very tender and very fresh. The donut hole was very fresh and not terribly sweet which is perfect for me. And the star of MY life... the apple fritter! It was fresh! It was perfectly crisp! I could taste the apples! I will return JUST for this best apple fritter I have ever had... and I have had a few!
