Glamorous Camping AKA Glamping this memorial day weekend. This is the second time in a row we came here. The place is very peaceful with all the facilities of a service apartment. Furnished tents with fresh linens, kitchen stuff. Our tent had a full bathroom with stack of fresh towels, soaps and shampoos. It is a pet friendly place with swimming pool, volleyball and basketball ground, food truck good staff. Both the evenings of our stay, they had a concert and magic show for kids. Kids loved it. I am definitely coming back to stay in their nee Chalet cabins. read more

I'll start with I am not a camper. This is still camping, but I could handle it. We stayed in Can 3, it was private enough on a little hill alone. Very close to parking and bathroom. Also on a road so we pulled the car up to unload and load. Bath house was wise to hit right after they clean in the morning. Honestly not bad though. Never smelt and hot showers, just have to keep hitting the button. Tent was still a tent. Clean enough no bugs, no critters inside. Bed is rock hard, and pillows are tiny. I would def bring a mattress pad or air mattress and my own pillows next time. Linens were fine. We had extra blankets in case we were cold. Dishes and pots/pans are ikea quality and very well used. Did the job, we brought paper everything we could. Heater is on a 30 min timer. Did enough, I'm sure it gets real cold from now on. 2 outside chairs and picnic table provided. Having the propane burners was great. Coffee is a French press, we brought a small pot and worked great. Also nice to have the fridge for meats, used cooler for drinks. Kids enjoyed the pool and lake. Walked around and everything seemed close to facilities. Game room is pretty worn. Most things broken, missing pieces, and just thrown all around from previous use. Good truck was a fun novelty. Got pizza one night. Kids went and got a hot cocoa each night which was cute. Playground is small, but always had kids. Didn't see any bballs to use, very worn volleyball for the net. Due to Covid no activities running. Outside of Covid times not sure what they would have, as there is no big hall for bingo or games. No hayrides or arts and crafts, nothing like that. Had no issues after hours. Everyone respectful or quiet time. But! Lots and lots of road noise starting about 4am. Very loud trucks and def not sounds of nature. Basically the ikea of camping. It's cute, novel, fun. We planned our own activities, enjoyed the space, had fun. read more

Beautiful lake - get the lakefront tents if you can! The sunrise over the lake was very special. They have an Airstream café with pizzas and crepes, we had yoga on the beach of the lake, kids have plenty to do... Really enjoyed our time there and we'll be back! Huttopia White Mountains - Campgrounds Near Me - Albany, New Hampshire

I participated in a large sorority retreat at Huttopia this past weekend. For many sisters, this was a wonderful introduction to "glamping." We stayed in the Trappeur style cabins. Each slept 5 people, had a toilet and shower, and contained an outdoor stove setup. The area was gorgeous as well. There was a clear lake with a beach and great views of the foliage! There was also a basketball court with a setup for four-square. For breakfast, many folks got a crepe from the food truck. The one thing I would advise prospective glampers is to be aware of the temperature outside before going. Bringing an extra warm jacket and sleeping bag is very helpful since the nights get cold. read more

I was very excited to go "glamping" with my wife, two kids, and full size dog last week. Overall it was a good experience and I think they run a good operation. I can't say I was thrilled though - maybe neither camping nor glamping is for me - but I'd like to share my experience with others. Location- it is a reasonably busy area for camping. They are on a nice lake not far from a pretty mountain and just an hour or so from the TOP of Mount Washington. The nearby towns are nice, in particular North Conway. But it isn't far off the beaten path - the main north south road is busy often with big trucks and motorcycles, which you can hear regularly. Not out in the wilderness. Campsite setup - the huts are just too close together. Thankfully people quieted down their kids by around 10pm, but you could definitely hear people, not nature, at nighttime. Our "tent" the trappeur, which is the most common, was one layer back from the lake, and a short 1 minute walk from the pool and central area. The hut - it was decent. Not sure I'd consider it the GL in glamping. But having running water and dishes etc etc was nice. The beds are about as comfortable as you'd expect - waterproof lining, so so sheets. None of us slept too well. Lots of bugs and dirt got in. The bathroom was tiny, I took one shower, not terrible. Kind of what I expected. The food - the food truck was fine. Nothing special. The pool was fine too, kids enjoyed it, and I swam in the nearby lake which was warm and nice and had a semi-sandy beach which was maybe a 2-3 minute walk from my hut and 2 minutes from the main area. The service - everyone was very friendly. No complaints. The cost - probably my biggest issue. I understand, this is good land, lots of it, and they maintain it pretty well. Piping water and sewer to all these huts can't be cheap. But I think for the cost - over 200/night - i was expecting more. You put on your own sheets and clean up the hut at the end. The tail end of a hurricane came through on our last night, and so we left after 2 nights, with a third still on our reservation. I asked if a credit was an option, but of course it wasn't. Not particularly surprised, but you can imagine a credit would have gone a long way. Some other points - this is definitely not a place I'd recommend for a romantic getaway. MANY MANY kids. Maybe in the fall it would be better. Also, while I think maybe I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to camping, I think you'd be better off spending your money on a lodge a bit more out in the wilderness. read more

The cabins are great. The view is fabulous! The rest... Non potable water. The water throughout the facility is non potable. I wouldn't let the family eat anything from the food streamliner because I noticed they were using the non potable water to cook with. I was too afraid that they were using it to wash the salads and during food prep. Firewood. There's a firepit at every site. Then they clobber you to buy the wood at $6 per small bundle. There's a rule not to buy and bring in wood from outside the camp ground. Yeah, we're going to ignore that rule. Oh, and all the other rules too... No security. None. Zip. No one to keep the dogs off the beach and pooping everywhere. The dogs. Really?! They are everywhere. Not supposed to be on the beach. Yup, they are there. In the dining areas. In the kids playhouse. On the pool deck. Barking at night too. They are not your children. Leave them at home or in one of the 1,000 pet resorts along the way. The furnishings are cheap. Seriously. Our sofa was canted to the left Nickel and dime time. Thought the firewood was cheapness?! Try going out on a canoe or paddleboard. They charge to "rent" the paddles/oars and life vests. Why?! Cabins have no fans. It'd be nice to bring some air through. The windows open, but the air doesn't circulate. The cabin is filthy. We paid for some sort of pre-check in set up. The floor was caked with dirt and mud from previous tenants. It is sticky. There were dirty dishes in dishwasher. The kids play room/tent. The games are all trashed. There is very little not broken. Our cabin (#10) had frass fallimg from the wooden ceiling. Some sort of insects had made a new home. The one side of the loft was covered in a shower of sawdust. There were direct safety concerns too, such as the open wiring in the bathroom. There are smoke detectors and CO detector, but no fire extinguisher. The brightness: Samuel. He was phenominal with the kids, adults, and staff. He's a true gem! What do they need: Concierge for help with trip planning and restaurants. A fire brigade to check the fire pits, empty the old ashes, clean and check the grills, and set up the new wood. Garbage cans. There are none. You are supposed to huck your trash to dumpsters at the edge of the property. No thanks. There are plenty of Gators zooming around that could do a quick garbage collection. Trash pick up. There is flotsam everywhere. No one seems to stop and pick up the stray garbage. Enforcement of some of the rules some of the time. Maybe it can work.... read more

I was a bit skeptical and maybe even embarrassed about glamping, but I've got to say, I'm a convert. We had an amazing trappeur tent on the lake (#6). The weather was amazing, so that helped. This place is well run, clean, and enough things to keep us occupied. We had 2 groups with 5 kids and everyone had a blast. Canoes, fishing, biking, hiking, etc. I also love that they don't rip you off for the small things you need to buy. They sell firestarters for $1, free Dasani 1Ls, ice for $2. All very reasonable. I even heard the water pressure and temp was good in the shower! We'll be back. read more

First and foremost lack of staff in bear country was uneasy to start. Then the staff cleaning our cabin/tent were not wearing masks at all. Then the heat they show on there website is a wood stove there was no wood stove there was a electric ceiling heater on a timer that went off every 20 minutes or so. I just spent a few days here with some friends and we loved it. Camping is overrated. Glamping is where it's at. This is really a family friendly place with something for everyone. A small sandy beach, pool, basketball court, tons of stuff. They have events for the kids every day and things going on at night. The entire campground is car free with lots of trails so bring the bikes! They have a food court with a limited menu but the tents have a small kitchen with a fridge so bring your food! They provided kindling (you have to buy the firewood), seating, picnic table, linens, dishes, silverware - this trumps all camping experiences! And no sleeping on the ground in a wet tent! These trappeur tents had comfortable beds and a heater if the temperature dipped. I am already making plans to go back but with the kids! This place ROCKED! read more

Huttopia White Mountains - Campgrounds Near Me - Albany, New Hampshire

Huttopia has a lot of mixed reviews and now I know why. Instead of my regular review, I'm going to list the pros and cons from my perspective--things I wish I'd known in advance. TBH, this is a 2.5 star review but I rounded down for some of the reasons below. Pros: --Great for people who want try camping but don't have all of the gear and/or aren't ready to do the real thing just yet --Electricity, plumbing, and cell service are convenient --Beds are comfortable and cozy --Location is excellent if you want to hike and explore the White Mountains but also want access to restaurants and shops and the like --Many amenities are easily available--wood bundles, hot food and coffee, kayaks, canoes, SUPs, baby gear, etc. --The employees were very helpful and easy to talk to Cons: --Cost: it cost me around $450 for two nights to stay in late Sept. For what you get (a small step up from tent camping), it absolutely is not worth it. --Cold! They include one space heater that hangs from the ceiling and is on a 30 min. timer. Our tent did not have a wood stove, so once we were done by the camp fire, it was very, very cold getting in to bed and we couldn't even really sit in the tent and read or anything. This is normal for camping but at $200+/night, I really didn't expect to freeze my a** off. --Cost again: the amenities that are available all cost a premium. No fire wood, kayak or canoe, coffee, or anything was included in the cost. They also don't include cleaning for the price (probably why there were so many complaints about cleanliness). I opted not to pay the $70 cleaning charge so I had to clean the bathroom and kitchenette before I left. Again, at this price point, I really don't expect to have to spend 30 minutes cleaning before I can leave. --Noise. My husband and I went to Huttopia to get away from our child for the weekend. This might have been our own fault, but I'm used to a quiet night camping especially at a campground that doesn't have RVs or car access. This place was overrun with screaming toddlers and barking dogs. We were kept up late in the night and awoken at 6:00 am by barking dogs. It felt less like camping and more like a night in the city but with much, much thinner walls. Overall, if you want a KOA experience at a resort price, this might be a good choice. I would easily give this place 4 or even 5 stars if they priced it more accurately for what it is. I would pay somewhere between $80-$100/night for what it is--slightly more than a basic camp site. That being said, I might try it again when the weather is much warmer and I'll bring my son next time. If we are going to listen to a screeching toddler, it might as well be our own. read more

On my second night here thus far and I will say that as new as the place it is getting very run down quickly. Our hut door is a bear to open, mentioned it to the front desk...yes sir we are all over it. Nothing didn't even look at it. Ordered pizzas from their trailer food stand it took an hour and a half to finally get them. Can't park near your site need to park in central parking. EctEct don't do it. read more

This place is a great idea and has a lot of potential, but just needs a few quality control issues addressed to make it a great destination. We stayed in a Trappeur with a bathroom and clogged toilet from the previous tenant greeted us letting us know it had not been cleaned at all. They happily cleaned it right away, but still... we wiped down EVERYTHING afterwards. Another issue was a loud neighbor partying away at 11pm on a Sunday night- with no way to contact the office to send someone by to shush them. So I finally had to do it myself at midnight- which was annoying. Why isn't anyone around at night? I assume the issues above are an exception, not the rule and we were just unlucky. That being said it's a nicely curated place, with a good family environment and super easy living. Just ask a lot of questions when you make a reservation and reassurances at check-in and you should be ok! read more

This place is a joke. The website makes you think it's going to be nice, but don't be fooled by the appearance. We had had a horrible night sleep, subpar plastic mattress- worn out, no support just resting on the platform. Also the "lamps" are hand held automotive repair lights, with short cords and no place to hang them. The "electrical" supply in the tent is a small power strip and a small extension cord that goes to the only available outlets 6 feet away, outside. The electrical supply is a joke because the power supply cannot handle the mini fridge and anything else plugged into the power strip. Their cancellation policy is unforgiving. We booked this place 2 weeks in advance only to come to find out the weather (on Memorial Day nonetheless) was completely cold and rainy (freezing temps). We called to see if we could transfer that dates one week before when the saw the weather prediction, only to be left on hold for 45 min and then finally, transferred to an answering machine that was full and hung up on me. We were attempting change the dates to a more pleasant time since we have a young child and I being pregnant. Two days before our planned trip, I called again, the main line in NH, asking if there was anyway we could change date. I was told by the super chipper attendant: "we have lots of extra blankets" and "there's so many fun things to do in town" (which by the way, during Covid, there was nothing open in town). So we skipped the fist night (temperatures were in the 30's) not wanting to freeze, and came the second night, which the above description explains our experience of. We left at 6 in the morning after that awful night and forfeited $300, since no one would consider even a partial refund or transfer of dates. If we could give them 0 stars, we would. Bring sanitizer wipes to clean up the mouse poop on your glamorous pots, plats, glasses & silverware every morning. Don't worry, you won't have energy for this because you didn't sleep much during the night. You be up several times to quiet shrieking kids disturbed by half dead mice caught in the generously provided traps. As added bonus you get to carry the mice outside in in the middle of the night and dispatch them far from your tent, on some nights as often as three times. Unless you like share with hungry mice or shop daily for food, bring secure containers for food storage. Oh, your clothing bags won't be safe, keep them zippered! Expecting accountability from Huttopia? The fact that they would rather provide mouse traps and an unclean tent rather than SECURE the tent tells you all you need to know. read more

The accommodations were awesome, the food truck pumps out terrific dishes, and I've never used a firepit as much as I did there. Staff is very friendly. Kids loved it. Very close to North Conway! One word, DISGUSTING. The first time I visited the camp grounds I stayed in a trapper tent two years ago; the stay was great. All of the people working were very accommodating. However, upon my second visit (6/25/2020-6/28/2020) we chose to stay in the chalet. When checking in we were told it would be an additional 2-3 hours until we could check in, we decided to explore the property some until two employees approached us on a golf cart claiming that they had just finished cleaning our cabin and it was all set for us to move in. Excited that it was cleaned early we began to move our belongings in to find out that the entire cabin was disgusting. The floors were covered in a sticky residue, the linens were soiled and had mysterious stains on them. There were copious amounts of hair IN THE FREEZER and the grease trap under the grill was overflowing with grease which later resulted in a grease fire. We contacted housekeeping and they provided us with alternative linens that were just as dirty as the used ones. Additionally they informed us that usually they don't really do any additional cleaning however when we initially reached out to them prior to booking to find out how they were attempting to circumvent the spread of COVID-19 and they informed us that they were thoroughly cleaning everything. When we finally went to check out we once again informed them of all of the issues that we had and they said "we'll let someone know". If you're looking for a nice place to get away and enjoy glamping, THIS IS NOT IT!!!! read more

Terrifying night in the woods and lack of response from Huttopia staff. We had booked for a mother daughter trip, and ended up cutting our trip short and only staying one night due to safety concerns. We stayed in one of the lakefront tents, and somewhere close to midnight we were startled awake by someone pacing on our deck, men talking amongst themselves and saying "Is anybody in this one?" and then, horrifyingly, the sound of our door rattling. There is a small latch on the inside of the doors that serves as the only way to secure it, and when whoever was prowling around our tent in the dead of night met resistance, they didn't immediately go away. Instead, they started rattling the door, clearly trying to force their way in. After a few moments they finally went away, but we were frozen in shock in our tent. We were terrified, and as two women traveling alone to the mountains for the first time this is obviously not the experience we were hoping for. The next morning, after barely sleeping we went to reception to tell them what had happened and that we did not feel safe staying, so we would be leaving that day. I was not sure if it were the men staying next to us as we heard them (and many others) up partying late at night. The staff at reception told us the men next to us would be checking out that day, so we shouldnt have anything to worry about our second night. I told them that I had no way of knowing if the attempted intruder was with those men, so that in no way changed the fact that we had a terrible experience and did not feel safe staying on site any longer. They seemed shocked at what had occured, but their only response was that if we had an issue at night we could always come to reception and use the emergency phone and someone would respond. First, who in their right mind is going to hike through the woods in the dead of night to get to your reception building and call for assistance after a stranger tried to force their way into their tent? Second, I called the emergency line in the middle of the day when I was trying to leave the key and found reception shut down. No one answered, and instead I ended up with the general Huttopia answering machine which indicated if there was an emergency I could use the phone outside of reception and dial 2. Which is exactly what I had done. If you don't answer your emergency line around 1245 PM, are you really going to be answering your emergency line around 1245 AM? There is no apparent security - no fencing, gates, night time patrols, or guard in the parking areas. You do not receive any security information upon check in except that there is a phone outside of reception to use for emergencies. The emergency line is probably not manned 24/7, if the fact that no one answered it in the middle of the day is any indication. I have no idea who was trying to get in to our tent in the middle of the night. It could have been other guests, or someone from the local community who had wandered into the campground as anyone can come it at any point off the road due to lack of any visible security. What I do know is that this lack of security and care from the staff is what I would expect if I were paying $20 a night to park my own car in between some trees and sleep in my back seat. Not what I am paying $250 a night for something billed as a "glamping" experience. I have written to Huttopia about this and am awaiting a response. In short, spend your hundreds of dollars elsewhere (like one of the nearby mountain lodges) where you can actually get a full night sleep with the peace of mind that there is some security in place and strangers will not try to force entry into your canvas and wood tent in the dead of night. read more
