Cute Campground. Very Very nice staff. We had a problem with our RV and they sent three guys over to help us, and together they did a quick job and we're up and running. Eric and Rachel were just awesome. The water is down a steep embankment about 15-20 feet, but easy to get to if you are not impaired physically in some way. The sites are a good size. Very peaceful place. The playground is new, though we were without our kids for this trip. We didn't use the bathrooms. There is a pool which was very clean. Groomed grounds. If you want off the beaten path, this is not really the best location. It's across the street from the Settlers Green Outlet shopping center, but you really would never know it once you are in the campground. Not a lot of activity for the first weekend in June. The website said they were packed, but it was like a ghost town. Maybe everyone cancelled at the last minute. So, it's a nice place. We don't regret going. But we'll try somewhere different next trip. We just like variety. read more

Just stayed for 5 nights. It was the weekend of trick or treat. Everyone decorated and if you wanted to participate in giving out candy, you put an orange paper out that the campsite gave us. Was adorable to see all the kids. Even with all the kids, it was very quiet and extremely clean. Bathrooms were immaculate. They had individual little cabins with a shower and toilet in them. .25cents for 10 minutes, loved it especially because our camper bathroom is very small. Will definitely e coming back. read more

Have been camping here annually for 20 years. Since the new owners have made changes, it no longer has the vibe of a family campground. More like a money mill. The rules are intense, you are reprimanded for everything (adults riding bicycles at dusk, electric bikes are ok but not scooters with seats, etc). Anyway we sold our travel trailer and cancelled well beyond 30 days and they still kept $70 of our deposit which seems a little steep considering they will easily rent the site we had booked. Missing the good ole days when people weren't treated like wallets. Gave 2 stars for all of the good memories we had before the current owners were there. read more

All of the staff, including maintenance and those in the office and store, are extremely professional, helpful, and friendly. The grounds are extremely well-kept and clean. There's lots to do on the grounds for families as well as couples. Special shout out to the women behind the counter, who made our stay extra special. We will definitely be coming back. Thrilled with our stay here! I had searched and searched for fair price cabins for the three of us. I searched using Yelp and saw good reviews. Funny thing is, I drove almost 200 miles to end up staying at the same time as two families I know from home! The cabins are Hobbit style in wheels. New and clean, solar powered and fairly private. You have a fire circle and picnic table with a water spicket about 10 feet away. The playgrounds are just beyond the cabins and in very nice shape. The bathrooms, showers, and laundry are just next to the play ground. I'd say fairly clean for a campground and they do get cleaned. There are a few activities available and I really like how you can rent any amount of days without restrictions like some places have. Perhaps there are better places- I haven't been to a ton. But I would not hesitate to return or recommend to a friend. read more

Camp elsewhere Do you like being locked into your campsite so you can't leave? Do you like paying premiums prices and still getting nickel and dimed for the smallest details? How about overcrowded camp sites? Well good news! have we got the campground for you! If you're looking to go camping on the Saco, there are quite a few options to choose from. The only thing that possibly gives this place an advantage is the nice lawn and a helpful maintenance staff. Other than that the campground is very tightly packed, some sites barely have enough room to open an rv awning before overhanging the next sites power hookup. To make matters worse, you will pay premium camping rates, which admittedly are on par with other premium places in the area but you would typically expect that price would include full use of the bathroom, yet here, you get to enjoy a pay by the minute shower, hope you brought enough quarters with you... The cherry on top of everything that will prevent us from staying here again, is the fact that they literally lock you into the campground at night, once the clock strikes 11, they close the gate and wrap a bike chain around it with signs that instruct people to just call 911 if they have an emergency and not to try and open the gate. Don't stay here if you could have a health issue and need to go to the hospital, or bring your own bolt cutters just incase you have to get out. Need to leave early in the morning before 6am when they set you free? Well you get to park outside of the campground and walk to your site, this may work if you have a trailer but if you have a class a/b/c? I guess you're out of luck and can't use any of the hookups or park at the site you're paying for.... read more

Sand everywhere but luckily there is laundry... oh but only 2 machines that sound like they may throw a rod through the wall at any moment. You can pay for the washers on an ap you have to download to your phone but you can't download it at the park because the internet is so slow you couldn't even check email. There is a money changer but it didn't work. Everything has a fee attached to it. They charge an extra $130 for my dogs although they had nothing to do with/for the dogs, $90 for 3 hours on a golf cart that can't leave the park, and to use the free games they do provide you have to hike to them to get the equipment and return it after. Trash bins are quite a hike from a lot of the camp. The ice cream place opens 3-8 or 3-4 on days they just aren't feeling it. Every employee looks like you just slapped their mother. I've been to way less expensive campgrounds that seem happy to have the guests there. read more

We love this campground and have zero complaints. Literally none! I was sure to read rules and fine print before booking and arriving. I appreciate that the campground has rules and enforces them, none of these rules seemed ridiculous and honestly they felt more like expectations which made the environment most comfortable for guest. We will absolutely return! From looking at the map before arriving I felt like we would be a little close to neighbors but absolutely not the case, spacious and comfortable. The store has everything you could need that you forgot or didn't think of. They deliver your firewood, super convenient. Let's talk about the staff, AMAZING, helpful, personable and never did we feel like we were bothering anyone. We really enjoyed our time here, can't wait to come back! This campground has its ups and downs. I have been going here going on 10 years now. The good: the campground underwent a massive renovation. The dog park is a brilliant addition. The playgrounds underwent a serious facelift and upgrade, and the new horseshoe pits, basketball court, and volleyball court is excellent. Pretty landscaping too. The campground is located right on the Saco River and has easy access to both short and long paddle/float runs. There is also events for the kids every weekend. The bad: This campground doesn't tolerate anything. After 10pm anything louder than a whisper is a problem. A cell phone playing the Red Sox on low volume is a problem. A fire after 11:30pm is a problem. They also barricade the entrance shut at 11pm, so you can't even drive back into the campground if you want to hang out somewhere past the 11:30 fire curfew. There is also barely any beach area. You can walk a path to a train trestle where there's a beach, but it doesn't look like it's fully maintained. There are broken beer bottles and appears to be a spot where local teens go. The fires after 11:30pm is ridiculous. I don't need to be told when to go to bed. I was reading a book on my kindle and some guy walks up and douses my fire with swamp water, getting it on my leg. He arrogantly points at my fire, containing a $6.50 bundle of wood (more on that), and says 11:30 and pulls away on his golf cart. About 15 min later he drives by again as I'm trying to push the remaining $6.50 wood to the edge of my fire ring and says "what's the matter? Need more water?" It was like he was needling me. They said this 11:30 thing has to do with their fire permit, so I searched the NH fire permit laws and that is a lie. It's a method of controlling their guests. They want you in your tent/trailer at 11:30. I'm not saying you should be allowed to have a fire til 4am. But 11:30 is ridiculous. At least level with the guests instead of lying to them about a fire permit. NH fire permits state you can burn a fire between 5pm and 9am. The wood is insanely overpriced. And they've monopolized it by not allowing in any outside wood. Their wood supplier is right around the corner, even going directly to them to load your truck is a problem. So you're stuck paying about 20 bucks a day for a fire. After you've paid hundreds to be there. The thing is, if you are ok with having your fire out at 11:30, a controlling staff, and paying a freakish premium for wood, then this place is for you. read more

Had to cancel my trip after my motorhome was involved in an accident. I was told no refund only a credit. But, the assistant manager Brooke said if I furnished proof of accident I would receive a refund instead of a credit. After speaking with the manager Andy he refuses to issue a refund even after I sent private personal documents as requested for a refund. He wasted more time fighting me and calling back a few times than the $118.00 was worth. He must be very bored and egotistical to take a tough stand on a 30 day policy to refund when the accident happened less than 30 days before arrival.I guess stealing deposits is a great way to improve the bottom line of profitability. Bad reviews have a habit of hurting poorly run business I hope anyone considering a long range reservation has second thoughts. PS when you call in a reservation they don't tell you it's non-refundable only after they have your money and you get confirmation. BEWARE THEY RECORD ALL PHONE CALLS WITHOUT NOTIFYING YOU!!! read more

We are here now and the staff is very miserable. They are rude and condescending. The people that work inside the store are nice, but the people that work around the campground are MISERABLE and so RUDE! The campground itself is nothing to brag about as far as amenities go, but that wouldn't be such a big deal if the staff was pleasant. The pool is also closed so they can build a new one for us to "enjoy the next time we come" however after our interactions with the staff we will NEVER be back! We drove 10+hrs to come here and we should have just stayed back in New York and went to one of the campgrounds there, the views would be the same and the staff nicer. read more

I just got back from camping there. Upgrades were very nice bathrooms always clean. We rented a cabin sheets were dirty my wife went down and told them and the had someone come up and change them and then someone else came up later and apologized and made sure it was taken care of. The only issue I have is we wanted to tune through the campground there was over twenty of us who were all camping there. It some of us had tubes and some were renting they would not pick he campers that had their own tubes . We were willing to pay to picked up if we had our tubes they lost over $200 that day cause we went to another place That was great. It is a great campground and will be back next year read more

All I can say about this location is rules, rules, rules. Sign at the end of driveway stated they had a vacancy, so, since we were on the road and looking for somewhere for the night, pulled in. When we went to the office, we were told, no, they were full, but, you could park on the field for $35.00. Then the list started; 1) No power hook up 2) No generator after 10:00 ( even though it was almost 90 out.) 3) Park in the field, but only on the edge. 4) Make sure you use jack stands. 5) Do you have proof of vaccination of your dogs. ( we were not even asked this crossing the border between Canada and the U.S. ) 6) How many pets? 3 you say? Oh, we have a 2 pet limit, oh yes, and we charge $4.00 per pet additional. Ahhhh forget it, too many rules for us. I don't understand the surcharge for pets, unless they are going to clean up after them. If you are not used to being told how to live, or old enough to know better, stay away. We were able to park at a local shopping area for the evening, free, and run our generator to keep our pets cool. Oh, and no surcharge for the pets, and we cleaned up after them. read more

Haven't gone camping like this since the late '90s! I went with my boyfriend and his family. Definitely learned a lot and know what I need to do to be better prepared for future camping trips! One of the highlights to the trip was us going kayaking/canoeing! I think I did well for someone who had no experience. We only flipped once in our boat and it was a mile later I realized my boyfriend lost my expensive name brand sunglasses. His younger sister and cousin was convinced we were going to break up as we traveled back up stream to search for my glasses. There was a group of people dressed as pirates and I was convinced they found my buried treasure. Once we got back to our site where we flipped I was able to locate my glasses in a matter of seconds. Everyone was really impressed that we actually found them. It's unbelievable the workout I got from doing that... I'm sooo sore, but enjoyed every moment! The silence at night was a little scary since I'm from the city... but looking up at the night sky was so beautiful! The stars don't compare to have I see in the city. I hope to make another trip like this for next year! read more

Was here years ago... long before becoming a father. The campground is super campy.... serious campy camp. But They have amazing riverfront access on the Saco, they are cool with dogs on their beach and they let us park a tent on the grass righ in front of the river. Not the best car-camping joint around but having a nice swim-able, dog friendly section of river right there makes for a great time in my book. Bring your own brewha for maximum effect. read more

Very enjoyable! Clean, lots of activities! Only four stars because it, I wish their were more trash barrels around. We ended up each night putting our trash bags on the mirror of our car and driving it to the entrance to dump. Also a Wash bin would have been great. In all fairness I think this camp ground is more geared towards Campers verses tents but you should consider that you do have both! we enjoyed our stay and our neighbors, and being right on the river bed was very nice! read more

This has to be one of the best campgrounds in New Hampshire. We just got back from a week long trip at SRCA and it didn't feel long enough. The campground itself was EXTREMELY clean and accommodating. There is so much to do for both kids and adults. The first night there, we were pleasantly surprised with ice cream sundaes and a ride in the giant shopping carriage! The staff was friendly and extremely helpful! We put down our deposit for next year on our way out, it's officially our new family tradition! We also made a lot of friends in the river! Our site was on the water. We tied up our giant tube and watched people float down :) read more

We called ahead to let the office know we were running a little behind. Apparently, when you are running late they don't let you in and have you stay outside in the parking lot for the night. How late is too late you ask?? Anything later the 8pm! This left us seeking accommodations elsewhere for the weekend. People traveling will often have things that delay them on the road. There is no excuse for being inflexible about simply opening the gate and letting us check in. It made us immediately wonder about the lack of security after hours. We had booked 2 weekends in the fall and this was our 2nd stay. On the first stay I really wasn't happy with the campground. The staff isn't that friendly, there was loud music blasting from several sites on our first stay. And not surprisingly with inflexible places with poor management, they charge you your entire stay in advance. We won't stay here again. read more

I call because I was going to be early arriving and was informed site was available but would be charge 15.00 and HOUR for check in early. I checked in expextintin to pay my fee and got a young girl who told me i couldnt check in i was to early, i explained i had called and was told I could check and and pay a fee, she said I dont know if your site is ready I told her they told me.it was she said how an I suppose to.know you called(just awful) I then ask if she wanted cash of a.card since some places aren't taking cash right now she said that would be up to you. I paid she threw my papers at me didnt tell me I needed a code to get thru the get. If she hates he job just leave. This is absolutely the WORST campground! We have been camping in our RV all summer at various campgrounds around New England and have been met with the nicest people. However, we have not had such a great experience at this campground, and we haven't even stepped foot there! I called and requested to cancel my reservation with a full refund. They denied that request and offered me a credit for next year, which I didn't accept. Then I found a friend to take my site so I wouldn't lose money, yet I discovered that behind my back they cancelled my reservation and resold my site, all in less than 24 hours and STILL REFUSE TO OFFER A REFUND! I was even laughed at on the phone by one of the managers who refused to give me either my site or a refund. Especially when everyone is stressed during the pandemic, you would think they would act more compassionately, yet they are greedy and wish to make double the amount of money on a single site. This is a clear indication that they are not the type of people who should be benefiting from customers staying there. Please find a friendlier, more compassionate place to camp with your family. I am sorry that I ever even considered giving my business to them. UPDATE: After speaking with the owner, he prefers to defend his employees and downplay their behavior, which was egregious. While he claims they received a cancellation request in writing, they knew that I wanted a refund with the cancellation, and we had corresponded back and forth. I was adamant that I did not want a credit. Once I found someone to take my reservation, which was LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY, I called them immediately and they said that my site was no longer available. So, instead of at that point offering me a refund, they basically said there was nothing they could do, so I have no way to get financial relief other than to fight the credit card charge or take legal action, both of which I am very prepared to do if need be. It would be nice if the owner could take accountability for their mistake in the way they handled this situation. read more

The sites on the river have all almost been upgraded to 30 amp service and you are RIGHT on the river. Great campground, great location in NC and great prices. Don't call them on the phone. They don't answer, ever! You are better off trying to will them a message. I am still resting assured that I will soon get the one on one dedicated service that the automated hold music promised. If by the grace of god that you get thru you will most likely speak with the most rude and unhelpful management staff(3 men). At least that was my experience that I received when I was there July 26th 2014. Except one female that worked the store saturday night. 0 stars. Terrible campground. They don't allow you to enter it exit past 11pm to 6am. No outside firewood allowed. Not allowed to burn wood on the ground at your site either. They setup a,monopoly making you buy their expensive wood. Campsites are on top of each other. Wifi is provided supposedly but its not even picking up on my new phone. Super strict on policies from quiet hours at 10pm. To no fires allowed past 11pm. Parking is impossible. They made me scratch my car with branches because spaces are in the woods and too narrow for a compact car. I would never in a million years come back. Patronizing employees patrolling in golf carts at all hours. Pathetic excuse for a campsite. This is a Nazi camp. I'm leaving early even though I paid. No refunds either. read more

I have nothing good to say here.... They would not let us rent a site, told too many people. My pop up holds us all. We are 2 adults, 2 17 year olds a 7,5 & 2 year old. It's a good thing many other camp grounds to choose from. Also the "kid" that we would of been checking in with needs more "customer" experience! This is our 3rd year staying at this campground and we absolutely love it. We rented a cabin 2 years in a row and this year we rented there new trailers. It accommodated our family of 5 perfectly. It's in a perfect spot right by the playground for my kids. I could sit at site and watch them without any issues. There is an employee I'm not sure of his name he's from the south, young kid who went above and beyond to help our stay that much easier. He helped us get a wrench so i could teach my son how to ride a 2 wheelers. Thanks to him my kid can now ride a 2 wheeler like a pro. I'm sad I didn't get to learn his name because he deserves a special thanks from my family to him. This campground is in such a great location to be able to hang by the Saco. Thank you for all you do to make this campground amazing. We will be back next year as it has turned into a new family tradition for my family. read more

First off, let me say it is a nice campground. They do take very good care of it. I had a really pleasant experience when talking to the person who took the reservation. I was all set for a great weekend. We got there and were told the firewood could be delivered to our campsite for $6 a bundle, a little steep for how small it is but I get it with the dangers of outside wood. We thought this was a good idea and were told that it would arrive between 5 and 7pm. We were also told that we could pick it up if we wanted. So far no problem, we explore a little and play some volleyball, make plans to come back at 7:30 and start making dinner. We get there at 7:30 no wood, we figure no big deal so we drive down. Once we get there it is just excuse after excuse and we are told we cannot pick up our wood because it is already out for delivery. I explain to them we are planning on using the fire to cook our dinner and would like to get started. I think it was the owner, we'll get to him later, yells out "patience" or something to that effect. Frustrated but not defeated we return to the campsite and start prepping dinner. 8pm rolls by and we still don't have firewood, so I call and this time I am a little more aggressive, no profanity or anything. I just forcefully explain to them that the plan has always been to cook over the open fire and with firewood still not there by the time we got the fire going it would be dark and very late. Firewood finally arrives 30 mins later, the campsite is dark but we can finally get a fire going. Finally satisfied with having the wood, we start cooking and start to try and put the whole thing behind us. Until a person who introduces himself as the owner shows up. He first apologizes about the wood being so late but goes on to tell me that it was his son I was talking to in the office and I need to have more respect for people. This is ultimately why they are getting one star and not my business ever again. So owner, I'll address the rest of this to you. Dear Owner Dirt Bag, If your son cannot handle being in the service industry he should not be in the service industry. Also fighting his battles for him is only condemning him to become a cry baby snowflake. Do you know what I said to him? Do you think a little cry baby 16 yr old, was fair and balanced? Also, rather than taking the time to non-apology apologize to me about YOUR staffing issues that evening. Just imagine, if you took the time to drop the wood off yourself rather than coming down to scold me like a child. So let me get this straight, your issues cause me to START dinner at almost 9pm that night, your son is cry baby, you don't have enough time to drop the wood off yourself, you won't let me pick up the wood myself but you DO have time to drive down and scold me? Not only that, you probably felt like such a big man, knowing that you could single-handedly ruin our entire trip if you decided to kick us out that late at night. I hope it felt good. Trust me if you didn't have the right to kick us out, I would have had this discussion in person with you. Now, we can have it for all of Yelp to see. The main issue why I am so upset is I worked in the service industry and if I had shown such a lack of concern for what a paying customer was going though, I would not have a job. You had every opportunity to make it better but decided to go a different direction for some unknown reason. You should have called the cart that was delivering wood and let us pick it up when we went down. You should have taken the time to drive the wood down yourself, we know you had the time to. You should have your staff offer to take one bundle at the time of purchase just in case, just in case. You could have just stayed the hell away from my campsite because you snowflake son's feelings were hurt. You could have done anything different or even nothing at all and this message would not have been necessary. Anyways, I tried to be as honest as possible. I think the real story is damning enough. Update: One of the owners reach out and tried to rectify the situation. I realize there are limits to what they can do and maybe I was more a bit more upset than usual. We booked a campsite online, once we realized they had an age restriction (23 years) we called to cancel the next day. They told us our credit card would be refunded in 7 to 10 days. After several calls and no resolution they refused to refund our money. They said that management would call us back and they never did. Then they said we never called to cancel which was untrue. Needless to say we will never stay there. Their lack of management is truly a shame. read more

If you like camping in a field, this may be the place for you! Absolutely no privacy between the sites we had for the weekend. Our neighbors were so close, they actually set their tents on our sites. Not impressed with the "little Massachusetts" feel of the campground. But coming from someone who typically spends weekends back country camping in the mountains, I guess you get what you pay for! The lack of cleanliness is an issue on its own!! The woods adjacent to our sites were littered with trash, discarded kids sporting gear, and our site had an abundance of broken glass everywhere. One word...MAINTENANCE!!! Don't expect to charge top dollar for a minimal approach to the responsibility of providing your guests with a quality camping experience! The "duck pond" (as advertised) is nothing more than a bog/swamp which gives you the feel you may end up with a serious disease if you get too close! The only saving grace was a member of the staff (Kristen) who was very polite and informative about what the area has to offer for entertainment. Also....don't badger people about dogs. If you don't care to have dogs at your campground or are going to harass every member of a camping group, make a "no dogs" policy! My advice...find a campsite along the Kanc or another privately owned campground that actually has the minimum amount of woods between sites for privacy. read more

This was our second year here staying with a group of friends, 3 families. We love the river and the activities for the kids. It's close to everything, shopping, restaurants, storyland. Some of the pull through sites can get crowded. The first year we had sites 13, 15 & 52, nice being by the river if you don't have small children, our kids ranged from ages 2-6 and there is a large drop off on the edge of the river. This year we had sites 102-104, very spacious, grassy sites. One of the families with us rented one of the campers at the campground, really nice, clean, they deliver it to you and set it up. Bathrooms are kept very clean and always stocked. I used the showers a couple of times when I didn't want to use the one in our camper and had no issues with running out of hot water. You get 5 minutes per quarter, I used 3 quarters, washed my hair and shaved my legs and had 2 minutes to spare. They've updated the playgrounds, very nice, the kids really enjoyed them! We didn't use the pool but heard nice things. The ice cream social was great, reasonably priced and you get a lot of ice cream. Fires have to be out by 11:30 and they do come around checking, would be nice to be able to keep it going longer but not a deal breaker! They have added golf carts you can rent for $65/day, we rented a couple and loved them! Wi-Fi is terrible but you're camping, unplug people! LOL Very friendly staff and fellow campers. We ended up staying a couple of extra days, had to move to different sites 104 & 105 but not a big deal. Can't wait to go again next year! read more

We stayed at this campsite last year and had a blast. There is a huge open field for flying kites or drones, they had 3 wheeled bikes that you could rent to ride around the camp site, there was a nice playground, sites were good sized and the staff was amazing. They also had a really nice country store on site, which my wife and kids loved. We did not get a chance to drive around in the huge shopping cart, but plan to do it this year when we return. We have started an annual Saco River trip and this is a great location for our 50+ friends and family that we hope to join us. We stayed here the week of the Fryeburg Fair in ME and was nice and close to the fair and even closer to some nice shopping outlets. read more

Great spot. Saco River is Near everything, but we felt isolated in our tent from all the hustle bustle around the area. Super clean and well kept. I have been camping at the Saco River Campground for about 11 years and have now seen 3 different owners. The current owners(this year) are doing a fantastic job in my opinion. The sites are all very spacious and the campground does a great job of maintaining a high level of cleanliness and landscaping throughout. The campground is very quiet at night and very family oriented. The staff are all very professional, courteous, and pleasant to deal with though at times the front desk seems overwhelmed. I do have an issue with the camp store now being more of a gift and novelty store and is missing many of the convenience and food items that a camp store should have in my opinion. My complaints and the reasons that I would not give it 5 stars are the ridiculously small pool and the fact that the campground claims to have WiFi and it does not. Yes, it's easy to say it's a campground and people shouldn't be expecting WiFi in the woods... but the fact of the matter is many people take working vacations and this place claims to offer WiFi and it does not have it. I have 20+ years in Information Technology so please spare me the sob story about the wood and number of people yada yada yada. If you claim to have it, you NEED to provide it. If you are looking for WiFi here expect a good solid connection with almost no actual bandwidth. Useable at most, 10% of the time. read more
