Awesome experience. First off the value was incredible at $40 a night. So thank you for making a weekend away affordable for the family. Campground was very clean and cared for. We had a tent site that was directly on the Pemi River (most of their tent camping sites seemed to be on the river). One of my gid things with campgrounds is bathrooms. Their bathrooms (toilets & showers) were super clean. Showers had great water pressure and were plenty hot. Small convenience store on site was helpful for wood & ice. This is a story about a woman named Diane. Diane and her husband Mario bought this business from a lovely family a few years ago. The previous owners, Bill, Amy, and Eric were wonderful. This location is beautiful, and the property is amazing. It is located next door to Clark's and very close to the water park. Diane is controlling, aggressive, rude, and she treats guests like they are an inconvenience for her. We rented trailer 1, which we have done several times over the last few years. This time, there was an "upgraded trailer." This trailer was 10 feet smaller than the old one. The reason they bought this trailer is because it has a removable control panel. This is where the story gets good. Diane keeps the control panel with her and watches it so she can see when you use water. She comes running down the hill and drains it each time while loudly complaining about you. Why doesn't she keep the valve open as suggested by the manufacturer? That is the million dollar question. Diane likes rules. There are many of them. These rules are posted on the website and she has you sign a paper with them listed as well. If you break one of her many rules, she will come charging at you waving her arms and screaming. I wish this was an exaggeration. I do agree that if someone breaks a rule they should be spoken to. But maybe she could do this in a way that's respectful. My daughter (who has special needs) had made a friend in the campground and had been playing with her for a few days. On the day the friend left, She came to the camper to say goodbye. I was in the shower and I had no idea what was happening. The next thing I know, Diane is screaming outside the trailer. "You have a visitor?!" Over and over and over. I let her know that the small child and paying guest was at the door for 30 seconds because I was in the shower. (Which I'm sure she knew because I don't doubt she was watching the water usage.) I had asked them to come fix the clogged toilet right after that which is a common problem in campers, and she then proceeded to blame the child for the clogged toilet. This made no sense as this had started the night before. The child had also just come to the door and quickly left. Also, if you look at the reviews. She responds promptly to all negative reviews as her husband Mario. It's not him. It's her.. ( there are many so she's busy) However, I made 2 formal complaints against her. One with the BBB (an A rating she inherited) and another with the state attorney general. Interestingly enough, she never responded to either of those. She likes the public forum because she can continue to bully people and blame them for why they are leaving a bad review. In one response Diane said "when a guest is caught breaking a rule, it often results in a negative review." Diane- it's not that the person broke a rule. People are ok with being corrected. It's the way you go about attempting to correct them. You scream at people!! If you approach people with respect and ask them to kindly not do whatever it is, they will apologize. I look forward to your completely ridiculous response. Maybe you could take the time to respond to the BBB to try and fight for your rating rather then worrying about a yelp review. Let's see what happens Diane needs at the very least some hospitality training. Diene- please sell this business. Update!! She tried to have my review removed. She hates when people tell the truth. Campground was perfectly located on the edge Franconia Notch. The campground was nicely maintained and well kept. Our was site was right next to a babbling brook that was pleasant to listen to. We followed all the rules and had no problems with the owners. We will definitely return read more

This might've been a great place to stay if it hadn't been for two issues. The first is that the owners seem more concerned with renting out the most expensive site available, rather than the one best suited for their guests needs. We called about a week and a half before our expected arrival to check availability for two mid-week (a Wednesday and Thursday) nights the week before Labor Day. At campgrounds we stay at that have shared/common dump stations and potable water spigots, we usually stay in the "primitive" sites since our camper van is fully self contained (onboard fresh and waste water tanks, and a lithium system that recharges while driving and lasts for days - making shore power hookups unnecessary). But we had read from past reviews that the current owners of this establishment are rather particular about their facilities and rules, so when we called we told them the facts: we have a 24' self-contained camper van that just needs access to a dump station and a place to fill our fresh water tank, and were looking for the cheapest site available. We were told our choices were either a full hookup (water, sewer, 30 Amp power) site, or a more expensive site down by the river. We asked if there was anything cheaper, and were told they were booked up and that was all that was available. We booked the full hookup site. The day we arrived, there was a note on the office door that said "CLOSED TODAY" with our check-in materials pinned to a board; no one available to talk to about sites that may have opened up due to cancellations, etc. We walked the campground loop that evening and next morning, though, and there was at least one (T26) cheaper water/electric site that no one ever checked in to that first night, and 3 other substantially cheaper sites (T23-25) that would have been plenty long enough for our camper van and had water spigots attached to their marking posts (despite being described on their website as "no electricity or water") that were unoccupied for the duration of our stay. Given the opportunity, we would've definitely taken T26 for the first night, and moved for the second - or better yet, stayed in one of the others for both nights. (The campground in general was over half empty the two nights we were there.) The second issue is that the WiFi bandwidth at this campground is very inconsistent, and was unusable for most of the time we were there - at least from our assigned T38 site. The SIGNAL STRENGTH was ok, and we could connect to their router; there just wasn't enough BANDWIDTH to DO anything most of the time (in the late afternoons Speedtest could pull down a peak of 9 Mbps down, and 3 Mps up, but usually more like 1 down and less than 0.5 up; in the evenings bandwidth tanked and most of the time web pages wouldn't load and Speedtest couldn't even complete a test). I ran into the owner the second night as I was walking the common path between our site, the bathroom, and the store taking Speedtest measurements trying to confirm whether it was a signal or bandwidth issue; she proudly declared that they have great WiFi because they use it for Roku streaming in all the cabins, and said she could have their internet guy check out the situation at our campsite tomorrow. However, we'd be leaving in the morning, and she clearly didn't understand the difference between signal strength and available bandwidth (and how having a bunch of cabins streaming video in the evenings - particularly if their "internet guy" set up QoS to prioritize Roku over everything else - could cause bandwidth issues for everyone else), so that was pretty much the end of it. But the fact is that we didn't have usable WiFi for most of our time in the campground. Other than that: the facility itself was nice and tidy, with cute decorations. So if you don't mind paying the price for services you don't need AND don't want/need WiFi, it's not a bad place to stay. But you may get more for less elsewhere. read more

Country Bumpkins is an amazing place! As someone who camps often, I am blown away by the amenities their campground offers. There are reasonably priced cabins, RV sites and tent sites. The bathhouse is clean and has the best water pressure and hot water I have ever experienced. There is a playground, game room, waterfalls and river access. What more could you need? Diane and Mario are so kind and take such good care of their property! I'm sorry to see the negative reviews posted, as I know, they are not deserved. By keeping watch over the property, they ensure that only campers who are supposed to be here, are here. I know I am safe camping here as a single woman travelling alone and that my belongings are secure because the campground is secure. I am so thrilled that Country Bumpkins has quiet hours as well. It is a smaller campground and noise travels at night. I have been at other locations where fellow campers have stayed up all night drinking and blasting music or even watching t.v. outside!? Personally I go camping to escape all the noise and having the campground adhere to nighttime quiet hours is a blessing....especially if you are camping with your children. I can't leave any stars for this business. My wife and I pulled up. The open sign was literally and I rang the doorbell. The lady opened the door with a bad attitude and said " I worked all day 2 times and slammed the door in my face. Then she turned on the no vacancy sign. I have been camping my entire life. this is the first time I have EVER been told by management that I was being loud... Quiet times are 8am - 10pm. I was watching my TV outside and the owner came over and told me that I need to turn the TV off. I told her I would turn it down but I would not turn it off. The next day her husband came over and gave "clarification" on the quiet time policy. "It means NO radio or TV can be on outside". I researched their website and the campground rules documents to see if it said that and I missed it. I could not find anywhere that stated they needed to be off. My wife and some friends spent a few nights here last month and loved this place. We had some sights right on the river and had a fantastic weekend. The prices are very reasonable. They offer bathrooms and showers, a small store and a small dish wash station. This campground is very small but it's great. It's very close to local trails, restaurants, stores and tourist attractions. The bathrooms were pretty clean, the stalls suck tho when your on the toilet there is a door right in your face It's very tight that's really my only complaint about this campground. We are middle-aged RVers with a teen daughter and two adult sons who occasionally will join us when we camp and we all absolutely love this place! We're back for the fourth year in a row and plan to return as long as we're campers. Very clean bath house (though the stalls are a little cramped) and a little laundry facility on site. Country Bumpkin is conveniently located: walking distance to Clark's Trading Post and just a short drive to Loon Mountain and the Kankamagus Highway. There's so much to do nearby and our hosts, Diane and Mario, have always been welcoming and accommodating. I like that the campground rules are enforced as it makes for a relaxing getaway for families. If your plan is to party into the wee hours, this isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for a scenic campground where you can sit and listen to the river trickle by while enjoying a cocktail or two, definitely book a stay here. read more

I am not one to write yelp reviews or any other sites for that matter, but this time... We have stayed at this campground twice now and will never return. To be fair, the campground itself is great; beautiful setting, nicely maintained and the bathrooms and hot showers are a plus. The problem is that the wife of the owner couple, Diane, is a nightmare. The campground has many "rules" particularly when it comes to the cabins that are available to rent if you don't want to camp. Campers are forbidden to go to anyone's cabins. While the reasons for this rule are never explained, except to say "it could cause a lot of problems", we can assume that the owners are trying to maintain the cabins from damage resulting from parties held by the folks who rent the cabins, liability, whatever. Their campground, their rules. What is so egregious is the constant reminder to cabin dwellers and campers of the rules--we heard you the first time lady, and the fifth and the tenth- enough already. This "rule", although never explained and does not appear on their website nor is it posted, also prohibits, in our case, family members from climbing into a car that is parked outside a cabin. When my husband and I (campers) walked up to my sister's cabin to help her load our 5 year old nephew into the car and keep an eye on him as we all piled in to head out for the day, Diane came running down from her lookout post to very rudely tell my husband that he could not be there and "had to return to his campsite" and that my sister would have to drive around to the campsite to pick him up. He politely let her know that we were simply helping out and were leaving momentarily but Diane would not back down and became quite hostile. Really Diane? You browbeat a senior citizen with no explanation other than to repeat the same thing you always say which is " it could cause problems". What problems are caused by four people and a 5 year old getting into a car? The coup de gras was the incredibly hostile and rude demand of who my husband was and what was he doing upon our arrival when he stepped out of the car to take a call next to the camp store where we were checking in. When my husband advised her that he was staying there, she backed down but this was the tip of the iceberg for her continuing lack of hospitality we suffered at her hands. In looking at other reviews for this business, I see that we are not the only ones who have experienced her bad behavior. It really is a shame since the campground is such a great place for families and her husband is a super nice guy. It's a good thing that places in and around the area of Lincoln NH, with the same amenities and beautiful locations are a dime a dozen. Be aware, be very aware. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for my birthday weekend in September 2020 with our dogs in our tent. We LOVED it! The owners were friendly and personable, and everything was so clean!! We had a site right by the creek and it was just so peaceful. The bathrooms were heated, hot water shower, and SO CLEAN! They have free WiFi which is great, but we believe the whole point of camping is to cut off the rest of the world for a time and just enjoy nature and what it has to offer, and this is the perfect place to do it! The location is very central to so many things! We hiked Mount Lafayette and Mount Lincoln while we were there. We found a cute breakfast place for coffee and bagels, and the little Main Street area had a couple of cute stores and some restaurants. We are on a road trip from Montreal to Maine. We wanted to hike White Mountains so this place was idally located. For 25$ we got a very nice spot to pitch our tant that included a picnic table and a metal thing for fire/barbeque. The place is very scenic located along a river you have wifi and hot showers. The tant sites are without electricity or water but you can charge your phones at the office and the site is small so the showers are not far. You also have a small playground for kids and the office is also a small grocery store. Bottom line great site, scenic l, good location, wifi and reasonably priced. read more

I really wanted to like this place more, but from the get go we had nothing but kids in and out of our site all day and night the first and second night. The first several nights the very large family reunion was super loud pretty much 24/7. The bathrooms are decent, the showers were clean. The lots are gravel and fairly level and mostly clean. Our dog is on a very strict diet; sadly you can feed the ducks here, and who ever last stayed in the site we were given left a giant pile of duck food and that's all she wanted to get at the whole time we were there. The view from our site was very nice, minus the pathway directly between us and the next site and to be quite frank there are no lights by the river and people were traipsing throughout our site day and night to get at the river. Mostly kids but some adults to, I am really starting to feel like there is just zero respect for others campsites anymore.... again I would come back here, but I would definitely consider the time of year and perhaps a different site. The camp store is quite minimal, but thankfully there was a camping world about 30 some Miles away where we could get parts. read more

Here is my straight to the point review. The best thing about this campground is the location and bathrooms. I am still in awe about how clean the bathrooms were...and the location is hard to beat especially if you like to hike. If you stay here, you are about 30 minutes from some of NH's best mountains. Since it is a family site quiet hours are between 10 PM and 8 AM. My one complaint is how close quarters you are to your neighbors. I figured with COVID-19, there would be more social distances. The lack of privacy is what makes this campsite 4 stars instead of 5. Another plus, however, is that the site allows dogs. read more

We had planned to spend a few days in this campground and emailed for available sites. I tried calling but could get no answer so email was the next best option. The next day, I received a response telling me that they had only 1 site. Wrote back the same day saying we would take the site. I received a response from them the following day saying the site was no longer available as they had rented it that morning, a day after I told them I would take it. Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 3 nights in a site for big rigs. Many of the sites next to us were level but most pads lacked gravel. If it had rained our grass pad would have been a mud pit and we would not have been able to get out. Is it that hard to put a little gravel down on the dirt? Our satellite did not work here (to many large trees to get reception). If you are looking for a quiet and clean park where you can sit outside and relax... go here. I'm not a person that likes to party I wanted a family setting this campground should say on the website NO CHILDREN ALLOWED .All children cry especially when they don't feel good .I was told to shut the door and windows in a cabin with no ac on a hot day because Diane the owner didn't want to hear it as she put it . The next day I went to office to mention my other 2 people were not going to join us she asked why I told her because I told them what she said the day earlier she accused me of lying when I had witnesses what she said .I had been very upset and yes cried she mentioned she saw me cry three times and I told her why I was so upset trying to keep my son from crying because she would come complain and I do not doubt she will have some nasty comments one probably that I left the broken spatula that broke the first day I was there but yes I did go out and buy one to replace it I am a good person and do not deserve the treatment and attitude I received from her that cabin is really nice and they do keep them clean the tv did not work at all . Camping right by a rushing river. Great but makes you have to pee. Those were my first thoughts of Country Bumpkin. Well no... what a silly name where my first thoughts but the river added great ambiance. CB was a great and relatively inexpensive family campground. It was conveniently located in Lincoln, not far from Woodstock. Friendly check in service and our spot was perfect, right by that grand river with a small waterfall. I'm not usually a fan of the "family friendly" campgrounds, but my camping buddy wanted showers and other non "roughing it" ammenities. I would recomend it to families and those who like a little taste of the comforts when sleeping in their tent, camper, or I believe they also had some cabins (I think, I wasn't paying too great attention). They also have a game room for the kiddies. I would check it out again if I am camping with those who like running water in their campgrounds. I'm partial to more rustic camping myself. read more

Last year and 20 years prior, this campground would have received rave reviews. My family and a group of friends have been camping here for 21 years. I always recommended this campground to anyone looking for a small quiet place to stay. This winter new owners took over and we got nothing but attitude and rudeness from the start. They are not personable people and from what I could tell the store was not open very late or early. It seemed every move we made was being watched and as soon as something wasn't in order someone was down to question what we were doing. We had five sites reserved for this past weekend and we paid for another site just because we had an extra vehicle and needed a place to park as we were told there was no additional parking on premises. Every time a vehicle moved we were asked if it was new, how long it was going to stay parked there, if we were leaving the pop up where it was parked and set up. Four of our sites are clumped together and out of the way from all other sites. We put sleeping quarters on three and use one for gathering. This seemed to be an issue with the new owners. To be fair, I understand they may have their own set of standards and rules that we are not used to at this campground but they could have handled the situation much differently. If they had come down and pleasantly spoken and maybe just said, "Hey listen, we understand you have always done this and we will let it go this weekend but in the future we will need you to have one tent/camper with vehicle parked on each site," and left us alone, all would have been right with the world. But instead we felt like there was a camera aimed on our sites and if anything changed someone came down. Someone even went to the playground at 2:30 in the afternoon and asked which child was screaming. Mind you, the only ones in the playground were from our group and for the record, there were two adults and two children and no one was screaming. We now only have memories of Country Bumpkins because we likely will not return. It was our favorite place and we went back at least once per year. If you are 55 and over we highly recommend the campground next door where the previous owners to this one now run a 55 and over campground. Unfortunately, we have a while before we can join them! We are so lucky to find this place to stay for our white mountain trip...one thing about this area, phone signal sucks...so how sweet they are offering free wifi in the campsite...Also, it offer the dish soup there too...so considerate...Also, they offer free coffee in the morning too. Amy is very knowledge employee, she can give you a very good suggestion about where to go, how to go..she is super awesome. Location is close to Lincoln downtown, very convenience. Was skeptical about this place but it wasn't what I thought it would be! My son Jacob, my sister and I were planning on staying at Hancock campground but it was full. When we arrived at country bumpkin campground with no reservation they were able to give us a spot in p1. Right next to the game room. first night someone's child wandered off his camp site and scared the hell out of me! Parents apologized and kept track of him rest of the stay but we did make friends with them and had no problem!! Other parents in the camp ground just let there children wander with no supervision. The trip was amazing the bathrooms where super clean. The owners where respectful and attentive to the property. My son was asked if he'd had a white car when registering he said no only red. The owner apologized and my son went on his way. That just shows me that they keep an eye on there property and I respect that. The only way people can give a bad review is if they are not following the rules that were given to them in the beginning and are held accountable for their actions. Definitely going to go back there but this time with a reservation and requesting P4 because it's right at the river and more secluded from the rest of the campground! Only other issue is some campers don't respect the quiet time hours and that is not the campground owners fault. But they will enforce the rules if you say something. read more

Country Bumpkins Campground was a delight all around. Check-in was seamless, the site cost $26/night, our site was RIGHT on the river, they allow German Shepherds, and we were the only tent campers there! The facilities were certainty adequate. Thanks for a great experience! read more

Adorable small campground we had the pleasure of staying at for a weekend. The tent sites were small and grassy but your steps away from the river. The sound is so relaxing. We put our camp chairs down on the rocky river and watched beautiful water pass by and butterflies flying around. We would sip our coffee on the morning and wine before sunset. There is a cute store with everything you need including a free coffee. The bathrooms and showers were clean and there is a play area for kids. A pack of charming white ducks like to roam around visiting. Also it's not far from white mountain attractions. You can even take a shuttle taxi for a night on the town for like $10. They pick you up right at your campsite so you don't have to worry about drinking and driving. We did it when it rained and it was well worth it. I say if you are looking for a quick little couples camping trip this is the place to go. read more
