We had an exceptional experience at HW Home. Neither my husband nor I enjoy shopping, but we had just purchased a new home and were looking for furniture for the family room. We parked next to HW Home, so it was the first store we visited. Lisa immediately made us feel so welcome. It was as if we were visiting with an old friend in their home. We sat on a sofa in the store that was unbelievably comfortable and stylish while she told us about the company. We were so comfortable we didn't want to leave. We ended up visiting at least 6 other stores and ended back at HW Home to purchase the sofas. They have since arrived at our home and both the quality and comfort impress us daily. Worst customer service experience, on a custom order, no less. Please read before making a purchase from HW Home. I ordered an expensive custom sectional sofa from HW Home in March. After much waiting and a delay, it arrived at the end of June--but looked terrible at delivery. The lack of attention to detail for a custom order was shocking--the wood finish was mismatched, two pieces had the correct dark stain, but one had a very light, wrong stain. It also arrived with torn dust covers, dents in the wood, and areas of worn finish. The HW Home delivery men explained that as a floor sample, it would have small areas of wear--and then were rightly horrified when they learned it was NOT a floor sample, but a custom order. They apologized for its appearance, and took it back. Then began a month-long run-around with HW Home. The most egregious offense (there were numerous) was that after many conversations/emails over 2.5 weeks, the store manager told me a full refund could be given. The statement was made without qualifiers and I took her at her word. Two days later, she apologized and recanted, saying she needed to clear it by Ron Werner, one of the two owners. He apparently did not back up her offer of a refund, and I was told he would continue the discussion. There was no update or contact for a few days, so I went to the store in person, hoping to meet with the owner (not there), and contacted the store manager again. Five days later, still no update, so I called yet again and learned that Ron Werner claimed to have called me over the weekend, but chose not to leave a message (mailbox was not full). In addition, I learned he left the country earlier that day and would be gone for 2 weeks. Unbelievably rude. He had both my personal cell phone number and email address, and 5 days within which he could have gotten in touch, and he did not. I think it's even more distasteful that a Colorado-based company treats their customer in their own home state this way. I deliberately chose to make my purchase with a local company. I'm extremely disappointed. I worked very hard to reach a point in my life where I can comfortably afford to purchase high-end furniture; however, with these purchases, I expect quality service. I was looking forward to the furnishing of my new home with a unique piece from HW Home. Instead, I've had to inform my new home visitors of my terrible experience with them in explanation as to why I (still) cannot seat them more comfortably. read more

It's rare that I take the time to write a negative review. I like to give some grace and assume some folks have things going that may impact their behavior on some days. It's clear to me that it is the culture of this store and not just a bad day. My husband and I purchased two lamps and a bowl that were quite expensive. Our designer coordinated the pick up and when I arrived David, the manger, refused to help me put the items in my car. He claimed that he and the other two folks on staff had bad backs and couldn't help me. I asked for a hand cart and he said that only his delivery team has one. He was rude and arrogant. When I said I was going to leave and contact my designer to return the items he said I'll help you but if I hurt my back it's on you. I was speechless. Not just from a customer experience perspective but from a human one. Don't shop here. I know I won't ever again. read more

I walked into this store, and the employees just looked at me, but didn't say anything. Not a big deal since I don't like a lot of help when I shop anyways. Maybe they sensed that I wasn't going to buy anything huge or something. I don't care. I had a day of doing nothing, so I stopped in here for a bit just to look around. Every area of this store is set up like someone's living room. Gorgeous, expensive furniture, beds, bookshelves, tables, etc. You'll definitely have to put a second mortgage on your house to afford the furniture here, but you're paying for quality and style. Both well deserved. The staff was a bit pretentious, I guess to match the snootiness of the other customers. I felt like I was back in high school since the employees were all behind the counter talking, and looking at all of the customers coming in to decide if they can be in "their group." This is the Creek, yo. I did like the nice smelling lotions and candles. Lots of interesting smells that you just can't get from Yankee Candle and such. They would make nice gifts for both men and women. HW also has some kind of colognes (at least, I think it was cologne), so that's always good. Most furniture stores don't sell lotions and cologne. It's worth taking a look around if you're having a lazy shopping day, need a gift for someone, or you're in the market for some high quality, high-priced, substantial furniture. read more

My boyfriend and I are beyond happy we stumbled into HW. After scoping out some of the goods, we were greeted by Jaeger, one of their associates. We explained the home we were furnishing, and he showed us some beautiful pieces that would accent our style yet maintain functionality. Jaeger was knowledgable about the various designers and their specialties (best chair, better rug); and steered us towards a look that suited our lifestyle best. Due to the homes' construction, we had to reschedule the furniture delivery several times, to which HW was more than accommodating. Once it was delivered, Jaeger helped to situate each piece to best accent the space, and took inventory of what we may need in future visits to HW (pillows, end tables, etc) that he'd present to us, as well as keep on file at the store -- but was not pushy in us purchasing anything further at the time. Yes, it's a pricey shop; however, with the reviews I've read online of the specific pieces of furniture, I'm confident the items purchased are high quality and will last. In the rapport we've gained with Jaeger, as well as meeting the shops owners and discussing the project, I'm confident HW will stand by the products they sell. I definitely recommend shopping at HW Home - it's not just a furniture shop, it's a full-circle design experience. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced and it was with the owner of HW Home. I will never step a foot into one of their stores again. Please read on: I bought a brand new couch from the annual warehouse sale on Thursday. I went back to the warehouse to pick it up today. So excited to bring it home! I was directed to the main desk to get assistance. Once I gave the gentleman my information and what I was trying to do, he informed me that the couch was no longer available and that they would ship it to me in 4-6 weeks w/out charge. I explained that was not what I signed up for. I was told by the floor sales person on Thursday, that I would have the one and only couch sitting in the warehouse. I was given the tag marked "sold", brought it to checkout and paid for it. In my mind, it was a done deal. The couch is mine, right? Apparently not, he holds up a stack of blue sheets (transactions) and says " you can imagine that you are not the only one who bought it." Wow! He then offered to give me the floor model. Obviously, this is not what I was expecting. So, I then asked for a discount considering the heavy traffic over the past few days. I would need to have it cleaned. He said No, I can't do that and compared it to a mattress at a hotel.... Not exact quote but something like 'you don't get a discount every time you stay at hotel because the mattress isn't brand new" . I have no idea why someone would say such a thing, but apparently customer service is not in their vocabulary. He then introduces me to Ron, one of the owners. Right from the start, Ron was already on the defense. Instead of introducing himself and wanting to understand the situation, he looked at me with his mind already made up. So, I took it upon myself and extended my hand as an introduction and began to explain my situation. Before I could finish he interrupts me and says "i cannot give a discount and you don't need to have the couch cleaned. It's 3 days old. I've been doing this for 21 years and you know more than me" condescending to say the least. His tone continued to go down hill and I decided to walk away from the couch. He was not worth another ounce of my time or my money. RUN! read more

I have been to two different HW Home locations. My recommendation would be to make the drive down to the Landmark location in Greenwood Village. Staff is much friendlier and helpful whereas Cherry Creek was, well, Cherry Creek attitude. Loved the selection of items - didn't love the price. Hard to find much in the store under $175. Terrible! Spent about seven grand in there and AFTER i paid they told me there were no returns, even for store credit. I changed my mind about an item after i ordered it but before it was delivered and had to threaten to deny the credit card charges to get it taken off. Wish i would have just denied all the charges and not accepted delivery of anything. A mirrored dresser i bought there has already broken. They have told me someone will have to come to my house to "inspect" it to see if it is my fault it is broken. So we will see what happens there but overall it was the worst home shopping experience i have ever had. The staff is very snotty and unless something is custom made you should always be able to return it!! read more

This store carries excellent quality home furnishings/accessories and great designer brands. I have purchased a bed and Bernhardt chairs from HW. They were very helpful however I have read the other reviews and the men that work there are very pretentious, however I have interacted with a couple of great women. I would simply recommend to HW to be clearly available to all customers.....you just never know who may buy from you because you treat them well. Great stores...I usually shop the Cherry Creek store, and there are not really nice independent furniture stores in Denver metro, such as HW, so this is a refreshing change. I buy mostly high end but like style not extremely traditional. HW works for that type of person....plus you won't see the same furnishings, etc at other people's homes as you can customize your pieces with their wonderful fabrics. read more

HW Home has beautiful and unique items for your home. Our first purchase, and only so far, is a large custom sectional sofa. We love it and get many compliments from visitors to our home. This sofa is the nicest thing we have ever sat on and worth every penny paid! The sales/delivery process did not go as smoothly as expected, but the team at HW Home did a great job to resolve the issues to our satisfaction and even went over and above with personal calls from Dan, the owner, on several occasions to ensure we were happy. The care and attention shown to us have ensured that we will be customers of HW Home as often as possible and we have recommended HW Home to all our friends. As to the "issue"... We fell in love with a sectional sofa in the showroom and worked with the sales person to place the order and get details on the manufacturing process and general time to expect delivery several months later (this is a custom sofa, dimensions and fabric to our specification, so time was very reasonable). When it was delivered and set up in our room, we noticed that the pieces were not built to our exact specified dimensions. We made a call to HW Home and left a message with a sales person to have the manager call us. The manager promptly called back to apologize and reassure us that they would get us the right pieces, and in the meantime we could treat the current pieces as our own. A few days later, the owner, Dan, called from his personal cell phone to follow up that he personally had gotten involved and was overseeing the manufacture of the new sofa including working with the manufacturer to expedite the order since we had already waited several months for the original delivery. As additional apology for the inconveiniance, HW Home also waived the original delivery fee (there was no fee for 2nd delivery, obviously). Very generous! About a month later, we got the new pieces with correct dimensions and it was perfect! We called into the store to thank the team and confirm all was as it should be, a few days later Dan called and left a voice mail to confirm we were happy and invited me to call him if there was anything I needed. Long story - short. HW Home has amazing products and delivers great customer service. Mistakes happen, but when they do occur, the team at HW Home goes over and above to resolve the issue. read more

Avoid shopping here. What a nightmare! We returned a $3,000 rug for a $5,000 rug and when it didn't look right in our home and decided to return it, they said they don't accept returns! We spent several thousands of dollars there and when we wrote a detailed letter telling the owner of our shopping experience and that his employee did not tell us that items were not returnable, we received a nasty letter from their attorney threatening to sue us for disparagement of HW Home's employees! They also held on to the furniture we had purchased for months after construction at our home took longer than expected. Delivery was easily arranged. These folks certainly don't try very hard to go beyond average service and are overpriced for what you get. When you spend $5k on a sofa and a chair you expect Nordstrom-type service....not here! They're great until after you buy so keep that in mind. In trying to make a change to the order a few days after ordering (when we were told they were behind and it would take three months to build), we were told no way on the change. So, disappointed we accepted it and waited nearly three months for the furniture to be completed. Secondly, they initiated delivery before letting us know. We knew the furniture was ready and would be delivered soon but we were supposed to be called to make arrangements but that didn't happen so when we asked to have the furniture delivered to another address (as we sold a house), we again were told 'no' as the furniture was already on its way. Even as I write this, no one has called to make delivery arrangements to an address we don't want the furniture delivered....but it is apparently "is on its way". Oh, and we will be out of town until next week, so I wonder how they think they'll deliver it. There are much better places to shop so go there. read more

Wouldn't shop there again if it were the only furniture store in Denver! We special ordered a dining room table and matching chairs from HW Home-very important to us that the wood on the table and chairs matched. Within 2 months of delivery, the tabletop started to split and crack. HW would not take back the dining set but got us a replacement table. Within 2 months that one also developed defects. HW still would not take back the furniture but gave us store credit for the table only. To get a similar style and size we had to pay significantly more $. New table clashes with the chairs and HW refuses to exchange the chairs. I will never buy anything there again after struggling to get defective product replaced then having them refuse to exchange the now mismatched chairs. read more

I say team because it was clear they were your typical furniture sales people on commission. they actually worked together, collaborated, asked many smart questions and help us accomplish our goals. They even showed us how to save some items from our existing home as they could fit them in to make these work in the new home and actually saved us money. I would have never expected that level of care anywhere. this place is exceptional. they delivered on time, with great prices for quality and style that is unmatched anywhere in Denver, or any other city where we have looked for furniture.
