I had been going to Manhattan dentists for well over a decade and decided a switch was needed when a root canal had gone bad. Two separate attempts with different dentists in the city, neither able to address the sharp pain. I was referred to Dr. Hwang by a family friend and just with an initial visit, he was able to assess the core issue and successfully removed the pain. Dr. Hwang has a calm temperament and his patience to explain in detail treatment options is a great quality I value in any health practitioner. His supporting team - front office, technicians and hygienist - have all been pleasant and professional. I appreciate the office is prompt to return calls and able to fit in appointments when an urgent need arises (e.g., when my tooth chipped on vacation, they fit me right in the day I arrived). He follows up post treatment, which is so great and not something I experienced with any other dentists. Routine cleanings are just that - hygiene focused and not some opportunity to fit in unnecessary treatments (e.g., in the past dentists have always done scaling). The practice is very clean and welcoming (very important when you have children as I do). The 7 train is convenient to get to and just a short distance to walk, you also have the bus option (if not driving, and if driving they have parking!) When deciding on a pediatric dentist for my kids, we decided to take them to Dr. Hwang and we started at the age of 1.5 yr old. The positive experience he's been able to give my children has not only reinforced a strong dental health routine at home for them, but also the kids just love going to see the dentist. I have never written a review but I decided to finally do so for Dr Hwang because he is the only dentist I trust and will ever continue to go to. My first visit to see him over ten years ago for all my wisdom teeth extractions went pain free, from the moment I got my novocaine to the moment he removed my wisdom teeth, and the recovery was painless as well. He even called me to find out how I was recovering and if I was comfortable with the medications I was taking. Plus he answered all my questions over that phone call. I have never had a doctor call me, let alone show such concern for my well being after treatment. He is unbelievable. He recently fixed a broken front tooth of mine, and all my friends cannot believe it's the same tooth because it looks so natural. And before he fixed the tooth he guided me into choosing the most conservative and least expensive option because it is the best for me. How unselfish and honest of him, unlike many other dentists I have had to deal in the past. The last thing I'll write is that Dr Hwang recently moved into a larger office in the same building he has been for over 10 years, and his new office is modern, super clean, and has all the latest technology. I used to cringe at the thought of going to a dentist, as I had a terrifying experience as a kid - an old dentist tried remove one of my molars with some sort of wrench and wound up cracking it into multiple pieces, so he had to pull out the pieces individually! Dr. Hwang and his staff have been amazing to me and my family since we started seeIng them over 6 years ago. When my youngest son was 3, we started looking for a new Dentist as we were not pleased with the pediatric Dentist we were seeing at the time. We received Dr. Hwang as a referral. We made an appointment and haven't seen anyone else since. All three of my kids had the most seamless experiences and even my 3 couldn't wait to go back and get his teeth cleaned. From every cleaning and even through tooth extractions, my kids were always put at ease and did not experience any anxiety. In addition, after some more extensive work done on my daughter from a chipped tooth, Dr. Hwang personally followed up with me to ensure my daughter wasn't experiencing any pain or issues.
