This is the fast cruise that takes about 55 minutes to get from Hyannis to Nantucket. Go with the faster option to maximize your time on the island! If you want to bring your vehicle, you have to book the slower ferry. COST We paid $45 per person per trip, plus $2 tax (only $2?!) for a total of $182 plus $90 for prepaid off-site parking for 5 days. BOOKING It was easy to book the tickets over the phone. You can do it online as well. You get an email confirmation with information on where to go. PARKING & SHUTTLE On-site parking at the port is $35/day. You're paying for the convenience of disembarking, climbing into your vehicle, and leaving. Off-site parking is $18/day and not always staffed and you have to wait for a free shuttle (less than a 10-minute ride) that has a few stops and for which you're requested to Venmo tip or provide cash tip. The shuttle runs every 10 to 15 minutes. I don't recommend prepaying the parking because when you get there, there are huge signs saying if you don't pay at the machine, you'll get ticketed and towed. They didn't provide a parking pass when we initially booked or collected the car make/model/year so there was no way to prove that we had paid when we got to the off-site lot. We had prepaid $90 for parking and then on-site paid $90 at the kiosk but after a couple calls and emails, they understood what occurred and refunded us for one of the two charges. CHECK-IN When you get to the port, you have to get to get in line to get physical boarding passes---digital passes are not an option---so plan to arrive at the port at least 30 minutes before your departure time. BOARDING Boarding occurred about 10-15 minutes before departure. The lines get long. If you have a big party and insist on sitting together, arrive early to get adjacent seats. They're efficient and leave on time. BOAT The boat could use some cleaning of the windows, as the joy of sailing is to be able to see out clearly and not heavy streaks on the windows. You could also go outside to take pictures and get a better look. The seats were not comfortable but you're not on there for very long. It got crowded in late June so I can imagine it being crowded even more in July and August. Arrive early! read more

We traveled from New York long way by car in order to visit the island. Booked tickets in advance with captain view. Got there and we were switched to a lower type boat. When we got to the island our tickets were cancelled due to severe weather. We had to sleep in a hotel booked last minute at a $1000 night! I called to get a refund for the view we didn't get and the tickets back refund that we didn't use as well. The lady over the phone was rude and didn't really wish to refund the money for what we paid but never used. Not the best experience . At the end she threw some $$ as a refund and didn't give a crap about the fact that it wasn't our fault as passengers either (for not getting the captain view we paid and weather issue). read more

I took the ferry from Hyannis to Martha's Vineyard. I purchased ticket while in line to board on a Monday morning. The ship is clean. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The boat left on time. It took an hour to get to mArtha's. Staff was friendly. There are snacks and drinks for purchase. There is a two stall toilet for women. You can bring your bike and luggage. Went to Martha's Vineyard today, and took the 1140 vessel. I wasn't really happy with my accommodations. I think the seating is more cramped than an airline. We arrived 40 minutes early for the trip to the vineyard and an hour early back to Hyannis. Seemed like our day was spent waiting to get on and off the boat. Windows on the boat were dirty, along with the rest rooms. Tickets were 130.00 for my wife and I, it's the only way back and forth locally that we were aware of in Hyannis. Sorry not a big fan....but not much you can do if you want to go,to the vineyard as a tourist. read more

Not very bike friendly, unfortunately. They do not allow passengers to bring their own bikes onto the ferry, which would be fine if they took proper care of the bikes. First of all, they don't have a bike rack on the boat, they lean them up against the back where they could fall over, and not very delicately in my experience. My new bike frame had multiple scratches and white paint on it that transferred from the boat. Plus, on one trip my bike was at the bottom of a stack of 4 bikes all leaning on each other with no attention paid to where pedals and handlebars were contacting other bikes. Finally, since they leave the bikes where they are not enclosed, they all get a nice healthy coating of salt water mist which destroys your disc brakes and will rapidly increase the corrosion of your bike's components. Enjoy all the obnoxious squeaking on your ride after. Make sure to hose it down ASAP or your bike might age 10 years in just a few days. read more

Had a wonderful experience on the 1 hour Harbor cruise with our family this August! Both my 5 year old daughter and 7 year old son loved it! The tour guide was amazing (though was more for the adults) and taught us some cool new things about Hyannis. The houses were gorgeous (and my daughter loved seeing Taylor Swift's old house!) It was a perfect about of time for kids. Our boat was cancelled the night before for the water being too choppy, which we appreciate. The views were really gorgeous and the service was excellent! There's both an inside and outside, and on the outside area there's both a covered and uncovered area. It was rather calm most the whole ride. Just bring a sweater as it gets breezy! This location of Hy-Line Cruises is located in Hyannis, MA on the mainland. It was the starting point for us, on our trip to see the two neighborhood islands of Martha's Vineyard (MV) and Nantucket on the same day. By using Hy-Line and paying a higher price than the competitors, one can cut the journey time in half (basically the one-way trip is about an hour). One can buy tickets and parking on-line. Parking your car at Hyannis can be difficult, would recommend to prepay for a remote lot spot ($17) and take the complementary shuttle to the pier...the spots will sell out/be full during the busy summer. We needed to catch the 6:10 AM ferry to Nantucket ($48 each person), and they make it very clear that it would be safest to be checked in 30 minutes before departure. We got to the remote parking lot (we parked at lot 8) at 5:05, and most of the spots were already taken (probably for folks staying overnight at Nantucket or MV). It got full later in the day, but for our early slot, we found a spot. A shuttle was already headed towards the pier, and it stopped to see if we needed a ride. We had already prepaid (and put the printed receipt on the dash), so we were good to go. It's about 1.5 miles from the pier, so got there by 5:20. The office opened at 5:25, and provides air conditioned waiting areas if you don't want to wait outside. There were a lot of people already waiting, mostly workers who needed to get to the island to start their day. There is plenty of security milling around the area. Everybody started to get into the main lline around 5:40 and they let us on at 5:50, with an ontime departure of 6:10am. We sat in the lower deck, which had the snack bar (hot breakfast, beverages, alcohol). Most of the seats were facing forward, 3 in a group at the sides with the center having tables facing each other (would be great to play cards with friends, which is what some folks were doing) It's a big ship, and most of the seats were full (day workers). I would guess that this is probably the most crowded one of the day. If you sit inside, there isn't much sway, and I didn't see anybody look uncomfortable from motion sickness. The ship can really move, and we got into Nantucket around 7:15am. People with luggage had placed them in carts before boarding the boat. These same carts were made available when disembarking, to pick up your bags. As we disembarked, the folks wanting to do the opposite trek were already in line, ready to board. We took two cruises with them. Don't take the harbor cruise with them if you are thinking you are going to see the Kennedy compound up close. They point out a roof a a side of the house from 1/2 mile to 3/4 of a mile away. You wouldn't even to see a person on the lawn from that distance. Also used them to go to Martha's Vineyard. Fun ride. Comfortable seating. Good views. Suggest eating or beverage consuming beforehand. There is only 1 counterperson for entire boat and she is swamped. Very long line. Then after a long wait u pay $3.25 for a soda which is 4 sips and an entire cup of ice. I don't mind paying extra in a resort but give me what i pay for please. Good stuff : I don't think we could've had a more pleasant boat ride up and down the Hudson in the Catskills. Many things to see. Sweeping vistas all around and the boat is set up in such a manner that you can see everything. We will definitely do this again. Next time we get to the Catskills. read more

Very easy to schedule online and get access to. It was very confusing that if you pre-pay the parking there's no one their to direct you on getting a printed pass so I left our printed itinerary on the dashboard. Convenient shuttle from the lot to the dock. They also are up charging $3/ person if you change as a fuel surcharge which I didn't agree with since I had paid ahead and just was moving to an earlier boat upon the return. read more

Was 20 minutes late to pick us up and then they made us sit in the harbor on the ship not moving for another 20 minutes due to being late to the dock to therefore no room on the dock. Our 8am ferry to Martha's Vineyard was cancelled "due to weather" so they moved us to 9am then they cancelled that. The weather is beautiful, much better than yesterday in fact and the ferries were running. I'm sure because it's Monday, their ticket sales were low so they don't want to incur the fuel costs. Lame... And so inconsiderate to do this at the last minute. I understand if conditions are truly unsafe. First time taking the ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket. Purchase of tickets easy; boarding process smooth. Sat on outdoor upper deck for a beautiful journey to Nantucket for the day. Ran pretty much ontime (about 10 minutes late each way but no big deal.). We looked to change our return trip to an earlier ferry and we went to the ferry desk in Nantucket and were assisted easily and accommodated with no change fee. Everything was great except the parking. All well organized and everyone was very nice. However, we bought the parking pass with our tickets and when we arrived they didn't have any onsite parking. We had to take a shuttle back to the boat. When we got off the boat after our trip, the shuttle had already left and we had to wait for it to come back at 10 o'clock at night. It worked out ok, but you should know this ahead of time. Especially if you have children with you. read more

Since they pretty much have a monopoly of passenger ferry services between Cape Cod & Nantucket, there really isn't much to "not like". Easy to book online, easy to board. They saw us with strollers and kids and always invited us for priority boarding. Has restrooms (some with changjng tables), snack bars, 3 floors with plenty of windows and some open deck areas. Even puke bags scattered around for anyone who needs them, although the boat is fast and large enough that even my sensitive MIL didn't feel any motion sicknesses. We spent the extra money to upgrade to "captain's view" for bigger spaces and comfortable seats but was probably not necessary as the boat seemed huge with lots of room to occupy. This was my first time taking this ferry to Martha's Vineyard. It is not easy traveling with a toddler, but the company was so accommodating. We arrived at the parking lot and I noticed we just missed a shuttle to the boat. The dispatcher lady was on it, she called all the shuttle's and let them know we had to get to the shuttle asap to not miss our boat. We had to move so fast but between the shuttle, and the ticket we made it. It was a comfortable and beautiful ride. read more

Hey-Line is running a summer special. $25 RT per person if you take the 5:50 out of Hyannis and the 8:40 back from Oak Bluffs. So you get to enjoy a couple hours on the Vineyard. Just enough time for dinner or to go shopping or to watch the sunset. Parking on site will be another $25 or $15 for off site. It's cheaper out of Woods Hole. But our condo is like 2 miles from the Hyannis terminal. So this is a great option for a fun evening. read more

I work for the state and take HyLine and Steamship to both islands for work. I like both. That being said, HyLine is an excellent, well-run, efficient, friendly and convenient family business that is a great choice to get you to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. They are the kind of people that hold the boat thirty seconds for a regular running behind and feeling under the weather. That kind of customer service doesn't go unnoticed. They put up with some unbelievably entitled behavior (note some of the hilarious, spurious 1-star reviews that HyLine sharply doesn't even bother to reply to because they could only be written by someone drinking a Bloody Mary at 9:30 am as their toddler wanders the Grey Lady IV unattended, bitter that they didnt plan ahead and didn't notice that they had purchased offsite parking and then had to hustle to make the boat.... Had no problems with my trip to or from Nantucket. Very comfortable seating and the cabin was warm enough that I took my coat off during the trip. They are very efficient getting people on and off the ferry. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I will suggest you bring your own coffee or snacks. The coffee was not good and snacks were expensive. All in all it was a pleasant trip and I am looking forward to going over to Nantucket this summer! read more

Exceptional Service - A Class Act On our return trip from Nantucket to Cape Cod (July 6 on the 7:05 PM departure) my wife had a medical episode waiting to board, I called out to the crew and they summoned the paramedics. Before the paramedics cleared my wife to travel all the other passengers had boarded. The Captain told us not to worry, he would wait until the paramedics cleared my wife and boarded. To me, that went well above and beyond. Once on board the First Officer found us seats together. When we were about to deboard the First Office unexpectedly showed up and took us out a side exit so my wife would not have to wait in line to deboard. We wholeheartedly recommend that you spring for the extra $13 to upgrade to First Class. You get a really nice lounge with tables, comfy chairs and couches for nap-takers. Nice private bar, freebie cheese and fruit and crackers, private observation deck, private restrooms. You'll feel like a Royal!! The parking was annoying. I can live with the $17, but I didn't expect such a hike from distant Lot 4 (across the street and set back a long ways) for that much of a fee. read more

Crowded considering there should be limitations do to COVID. Probably would take it again but come with low expectations. read more

Our experience on the Hy-Line fast ferry to/from Nantucket was very positive. We parked at one of the satellite lots, which saved a few dollars and was a breeze with immediate shuttle pick-up/drop-off by friendly drivers who chatted us up. We purchased our tickets online, so simply queued up a few minutes before departure, snagged our seats, and made our way to Nantucket in an hour. There is a limited menu of food and beverages if you get snacky and the bathroom on board is shockingly clean. Definitely pack a sweater, however, because the AC was downright arctic. read more

Took the ferry from Hyannis Port to Martha's Vineyard, from MV to Nantucket, and then from Nantucket back to Hyannis Port. So much faster than the Steamship Authority ferry. Had good experiences on all trips. Onsite parking in Hyannis Port was across the street behind a hotel but felt good about leaving our vehicle parked there for several days. The staff from entrance personnel, luggage handlers, ticket personnel were all great. Ferry leaves and arrives on time and the trip was relaxing. Comfortable seating. We had hoped to sit outside on the top deck but it was so windy and chilly. But definitely try to sit on the enclosed top deck so you can see the shore views leaving and returning. Parking situation is a disaster. They basically have no captivity to handle their business and send you down the street to sharks that charge more than the posted signs (It's horrible). The city lots are all empty because they limit you to 6 hours and you can't take the ferries and get back in time. Probably on purpose so the locals can make you pay $40 when the posted signs say $35. read more

I just had the worst experience by their staff that I have ever come across. I was running 2 minutes late and literally running to the ferry with a tool bag in hand. The dock staff lets the 3 people directly in front of me get on the boat and they let me run all the way up before saying "no you're not getting on". Nobody mentioned anything about a next boat, they didn't seem to care when I explained I had a 2pm meeting. I'm trying to get someone on the phone to explain my issue and get refunded and I can't find any possible phone number and the lady at the ticketing counter said I couldn't be refunded. What is with this company??? I need to make an edit. They called me and reversed the charges based on an extenuating circumstance and did so quite pleasantly. read more

Took Hyline high speed Hyannis-Martha's Vineyard and they're not enforcing the federal executive order on mask wearing at transportation hubs, including ferries, which is still in effect until September. Hyline management: if you don't know this, please realize you have a responsibility to the public. It's not comfortable traveling with an elderly parent and 99% of your riders don't have mask indoors. Suggest you take a look at how Steamship Authority enforces this rule in the interest of public safety. Shame on you! read more
