Wayne was knowledgeable and entertaining. That's all that was good besides the scenery. They started late. Too many people on the van. The a/c didn't work well. They drove around and picked up a couple that was late. As a result, we were rushed through the end of the tour. The driver called and texted on his phone.

Very easy to book, spoke with Sue on the phone. Will our tour guide picked us up right as we got off our ferry. We did a 3 hour tour of the island. Didn't feel rushed and we were able to see so many amazing views of the island. We had a group of 5 and were able to have a private tour for a very reasonable price.

We expected to see what was pictured on the brochure.

PLEASE DON'T SPEND $40 a person for this tour! This was a 3 hour tour that started late by over 20 minutes, but was still back on time for the next tour, so most of the pictures are drive by from a window. The guide apparently was in real estate because he spent more time telling us how much houses cost there. He also STOPPED to let us take pictures of things that were kind of random. The first 3 pictures after the brochure of some of these examples. A tree, some cattle and a post of future plans for the island to keep original families on the island. The brochure shows Edgartown Lighthouse, Jaws and the Gingerbread Houses. This is what caught our attention for the tour. Well....we didn't see the Gingerbread Houses (On the Tour) at all. The last two pictures that I posted are drive by pics of the Jaw's Bridge and the Edgartown Lighthouse. There were two of us in my party, so these are some of the pictures we got to take for our $80 Tour.....you be the judge. The tour guide was not friendly and talked about things that interested him and not necessarily tourists that do not live there. Thanks for ruining our first and probably last trip to Martha's Vineyard MV Island Tours

I would say it's good but not great. Mac, our guide was knowledgeable and personable but was a…read morelittle dry in presenting it. I will give him credit too, because we encountered a lot of bad drivers and he kept his composure, when I probably wouldn't have. The tour is nice, but not something I can give 5 stars to. Nothing was necessarily wrong or bad about it, it just didn't quite pop with me. A lot of what is presented his classroom type stuff. Mileage may vary, but for me this was more a 'B' tour if we were using school grades.

They also tried to say I wasn't on their tour, so I am posting proof here that it was their tour I was on for sure, (assuming I can post a photo of their email when I get done with this part.) Here is the review: "Tour was just okay. We didn't stop at things people clearly wanted to stop at and there was a lot that no one cared about. The driver (my wife said his name was Richard) was anxious to get through the tour because there was so much to see in 3 hours... I'm like, okay then let's stop at the stuff people want to take pics of and blow off the rest of this crap. He also zoomed by and barely slowed down long enough to take a photo of something other than the back of the hand of the person sitting in front of you... the hand that was still there because they didn't have time to take a pic either. The driver also talked about Obama and Clinton the ENTIRE tour. I lost count at 8 stories. (This is not an exaggeration.) (Owner denied this could be true... ask anyone else who was on this tour... and I'm sure he uses these stories consistently.) I'm not a staunch anti-dem, but this was simply ridiculous. If Obama ever comes to a sudden stop this guy's head will end up mid-colon or so. Surgery might be necessary. Anyway, I would try a different one if I were you. Tries to pack in too much." (Owner also said they never wanted me to book with them again... lol, pretty sure I wasn't going to?)

TLDR: Don't pay upfront if you book this company!…read more I had booked the All Star Tour company for a private bachelorette tour on May 17, 2025. Not only were we left stranded at the ferry stop for hours due to a "van issue," but the backup tour companies that were allegedly sent over never showed. My group of 9 girls was left to fend for ourselves - we ended up finding a very nice taxi driver with a van to take up around instead. I had paid the full price of $450 upfront on Venmo, and afterwards the owner Jeffrey C. refused to issue a refund, even after weeks of texting. I would absolutely not recommend this company.

BUT the backup company he promised to send didn't show and we were left stranded at the ferry dock and had to pay for a second tour. Now he won't refund my money and has stopped responding. Martha's Vineyard was beautiful and the people were great but DO NOT BOOK THIS COMPANY. I have found others who have been ripped off this month alone. I would give zero stars if that was an option. I want my money back, money that I saved a year for to celebrate my mom's 81st birthday. Im hoping honest reviews, a police report, a letter to the Chamber of Commerce, BBB and the MA Attorney General will do the trick.

Our tour guide, Stan, gave an interesting & informative presentation of the island's history and qualities. He's lived on the island from childhood & brings many personal insights of the island and its inhabitants. Stan's the Man! Dee-Dee of HomeGrown Tours was superbly helpful when she contacted us about a need to reschedule our tour for earlier in the day. She asked how we were getting to the island and shared a much better way to get to Oak Bluffs. Very glad she went the extra effort to make our trip more enjoyable. Among the stops on the tour were Menemsha where we enjoyed seafood soup samples & had seafood sandwiches from Menemsha Fish Market. The stop at Aqinnah (Gay Head) Cliffs was stunning with the views of the ocean, beaches below, multicoloured cliffs, and a lighthouse. Another memorable stop was at Orange Peel Bakery. Oh, what trip on Martha's Vineyard wouldn't mention Jaws filming sites. Stan pointed out several of the key locations, including "the Jaws Bridge", providing back stories about the filming. I highly recommend HomeGrown Tours.

I made a few phone calls and Deedee arranged to meet us for an afternoon tour. She is a very enthusiastic MV host. We got a fun tour of things you would expect and some you would not. The narration, history and stories of local life were non-stop. We had a great time. She really is a pleasure to work with and saved the day for us.
