Our placing agent recommended Magnolia Palms. We end to check it out and the owners Kim and Chris were very patient with myself and my family. They answered all our questions made us feel at ease that my family member will be well cared especially since we were not local. Setting up the contract was pretty straight forward and they are electronically savvy. The facility is brand new very comfortable. The rooms are pretty good size and very clean. The staff there was very attentive and addressed all needs. We lived up north and never worried about our family member's care. We were extremely happy and felt they treated us like family. The staff of CNAs and nurses here is well-staffed and attentive, and they have all the proper equipment to ensure patient safety. Since my mother has dementia and tends to walk around on her own--putting her at high risk for falls--they placed a bed alarm under her mattress and an alarm mat on the floor, which gives me peace of mind. The staff is sweet and thoughtful. Vanna from Customer Service is enthusiastic and friendly; she regularly visits my mother to check in on her and answer any questions I have. The kitchen even serves Vietnamese food, which my mother really enjoys. The nurses--like Kayla, Tran, Richard, LyLy, and many others whose names I can't recall right now--are all wonderful. A special thanks to Jennifer, who was incredibly helpful and attentive when I first brought my mother here. The community has a nice layout and is clean and well kept. The grounds are serene and relaxing: a mix of (always green!) grassy areas, with flowers, trees, walking paths and intimate areas to sit and socialize with your loved one. It is also very secure, which is important in any memory care community due to wandering being a common symptom in those living with dementia. My interactions with staff couldn't be better either. Betsy, the Activities Director works hard to create an activities program that keeps residents physically active and mentally stimulated. You can tell she is dedicated to giving her residents fun, thoughtful experiences! Stacey, the Marketing Director, is so sweet and enthusiastic in her desire to help you find a community that fits your needs and budget. Lastly, the care team has always given me time out of their busy days to answer questions and show me around. The Admin staff Michelle, Desi, and all the loving kind care takers Jen, Ferdi and others provide the TLC that I require and desire for my Mom. Kelly is a wonderful communicator always updating and informing me of any cocerns she has with my 89 year old Beautiful Mom. Mom has lived there for the past 2 wonderful years. Mom was recently hospitalized for 6 days and Kelly showed up at the hospital 2 days to support me and my mom through her recovery. Each resident is handled with specialty care that meets the residents needs, socialization is supported and encouraged, healthy home cooked meals are consumed around a dinner table and they have appropriate exercises for each residents ability. They celebrate birthdays and holidays that are fun. As a Daughter who is also a RN I can honestly say "Living at Ocean Breeze is the BEST gift I could ever give my mom!" When the ambulance transporters dropped my mom off yesterday after her hospital stay the men said " we've never seen a board and care facility like this" They also asked if they could make their own reservation to be a resident there 30 years down the road. There were so many activities planned for residents, and it was clear that staff put real thought into keeping everyone engaged, connected, and supported. It didn't feel like a typical facility it felt like a place where people can genuinely feel comfortable, at home, and cared for. I want to shout out the administrator, Kelly, who clearly cares deeply about the well-being of both the residents and the staff. It was evident by the atmosphere in the facility.
