I am a real fan of Hy-Vee because they are the most customer-friendly store I think I've ever shopped. They have a HUGE selection and while the prices are average and comparible to any other grocery in the area, they go out of their way to make sure you have your needs met. This location is open 24-hour and they have one of the best deli/snack bars I've ever seen - grocery store or otherwise. My mother placed an online grocery order to be picked up between 5-6pm and didn't even receive the message that they were ready until 6:45!!!!! That is absolutely ridiculous people give them an hour slot to call them in because everyone has lives they can't just sit around all day and wait for the grocery store to do their job. I understand some might say "if you don't like it go shop for your own shit" well we are in a pandemic and people who are at a higher risk might feel more comfortable not being in direct contact with tons of people in the store and then sanitize their groceries after they are brought home. Also, I called to try and talk to a manager about the issue and he repeatedly interrupted me and didn't let me finish explaining my reason for calling and he shoved off anything I said and basically said "we know she's here to pick up the order so you don't need to be calling" clearly they're having a busy day I get that, but if they need extra help then why aren't they hiring more people? I myself put in an application awhile back and I have experience, references from past employers and a squeaky clean record and I never received a call back. Pretty shit experience here read more

For the record, I love HyVee! Always have and always will. But unfortunately, I was not impressed with their catering. Very disappointing to say the least. One food item was to be cut in half to make it easier for people to eat. It was not. Was not told how big they were, nor did we ask. Wrapped in foil, like a big burrito from Taco Bell. The insides were unidentifiable. I was told by a server it was eggs, cheese and veggies and someone who was a vegetarian found cut up meat in it and the taste was bland. Biscuits were so hard and no amount of toppings (butter, jelly, etc.) could save them. One bite and it was pushed to the side of my plate. One type of meat tasted pretty good, but was coated in grease, so I used my napkin to try and absorb some of the grease before eating. Gravy had no type of meat in it (in my opinion it should have). Food was not hot, more or less mildly warm. Like I said, I do like HyVee and I will continue to shop there for my grocery needs, but there really needs to have someone check over the products ordered to make sure it is good enough to serve to their own mothers. Got to be honest here - wife does most of the shopping so I can't really speak to the selection or pricing but the one thing I will say is that I think it's a real descent thing that Hy-Vee donates their leftover bakery items to those in need through charitable organizations. I've known that they do this for years but just today I caught wind that some families who've been displaced by the flooding had donated Hy-Vee food to eat. Keep it up Hy-Vee! read more

Cody and Robin at Shadow Lake Hy-Vee Catering were fantastic on our wedding day and during all the planning leading up to it. They talked us through a ton of options, gave us some opinions based on working with several couples, let us try what we wanted and even gave us some suggestions for food. We actually ended up going with one of their recommendations, an Italian buffet. We went to Italy for our honeymoon and who doesn't like pasta? Easy for all including kids. They were wonderful. Helpful, friendly and actually seemed to know who I was every time I called them. Top notch service and being a grocery store, they can give you a great deal on food prices. We only paid $10/plate and the food was delicious. They boxed up the extra and cut the cakes we got at the bakery as well. read more

This Hyvee is close to where we live so it's convenient. They have a nice sized health food section and great produce. That being said, if the item is not on sale I find it to be much more expensive to shop here. That's frustrating. Some items are $1.00 more than items regularly priced elsewhere. If I stock up, it can add up. They do have some great made up salads that are family favorites for quick meals. It's a great local store if you are not thrifty. read more

As I stopped in to shop, I thought I would have a bite to eat. I will never have that thought again at this location. I ordered the Wednesday special......the food was so cold it should of been featured as the "fridge" special. The lady at the register was gracious but the Manager in the department was as cold as the food. She stated it was up to the serving temperature which I guess was above freezing. It was horrible.....so if you need groceries it's ok but if you want to eat there......your food will come from the freezer section....on a side note....this does not include the Italian and Chinese menu items......there were no apologies except from a store manager as I was walking through .....he asked how things were going and I expressed my concerns.....he was great and that's why people shop at HyVee.....but never never eat there unless you bring your own microwave..... read more

Do not use their Catering Department. We had an Event and the communication was terrible. Two weeks before the event I wasn't even sure they were still coming. I had to continually call and verify items were included or not. The meals were over priced. The service didn't live up to expectations. We paid for full service and they didn't serve the event so we ran out of food. No follow-up after the event knowing we were dissatisfied at the event. I had to call numerous times to get overcharged items corrected on my invoice only to be disappointed. read more

Very nice, very clean, place to do your grocery shopping. Excellent location as well, they are around several chain restaurants, and a Borders; so you can go shopping for clothes, then buy food here so you can't fit into the clothes. I tried to use their 13 cents a gallon gas coupon the other day. The attendant cheated me out of 3 cents a gallon and only gave me credit for 10 cents a gallon. I will never buy gas from the Hy-Vee in Papillion again. Other Hy-Vees in the area offer discounts to senior citizens, including 10% off for lunch. The Hy-Vee manager in Papillion will not do the same. He appears to hate people over the age of 60. All of my senior citizen friends drive to the Hy-Vee at 156th and Maple to eat lunch at a discounted price. Avoid the Hy-Vee in Papillion at all costs. read more

I like the store, in general, and their Spirits section is great. I also like the fact that it is employee owned. Unfortunately, their new gas card policy has made that perk virtually useless for my family. I am a health professional, so the quality of the food I purchase is a primary factor in selecting where I shop. They have a "Health Market" which contains some products that are good but also many that, upon investigation, should never be in the health section of any store. Comparison shopping also shows their prices are as expensive, or more so, than Whole Foods. Try as I might, I can't seem to avoid dealing with the dietician that runs this section. Shannon has been repeatedly arrogant and overtly rude (even my mild mannered wife avoids her due to very unpleasant experiences). With Trader Joe's and the new Natural Grocer coming to the old Wild Oats space, I can: 1) have a wider selection, 2) know that I am getting products where someone has genuinely done their homework, and 3) not have to pay higher prices to 4) endure someone who obviously dislikes dealing with the public. I LOVE Hy-Vee. Before I go out of town on the weekends I make a special trip to stock a cooler because the sticker shock and poor selection of other grocery stores always makes me wish I was at Hy-Vrr. On my recent trip the guy grilling outside, Nick i think his name was convinced me to try a hamburger and OMG it was the best tasting burger ever cooed just right. Im glad i listened to him no more fast food lunches for me i'll be stopping by his grill whenever i get the urge for a good burger. read more

I only come here as a last resort. Hyvee is the prices are high compared to other grocery chains. Another annoying thing is they are constantly moving items around the store. As another reviewer noted, you can not get a rhythm going of being familiar with the store. I only gave Hyvee a second star because it is very close to my house. The grocery store has some good sale prices some weeks but overall is too high to do all my shopping. This review is mainly on the lunch/dinner prepared food. I would not call it a restaurant, but they do have 30 tables or so you can eat at. Kind of like a food court with offerings such as pizza, chinese food, or american food. We bought 2 chinese plates and 2 chicken plates and took them home. I ate one of the chinese plates (orange chicken and sesame chicken) and had diarrhea the next day. I suspect they use oyster sauce in the sauces because that always makes me sick. read more

Thank goodness for a Hy-Vee nearby so I can avoid grocery shopping at Wal-Mart! I do Hy-Vee's at home delivery service. It's fantastic. I can order my groceries online and have them delivered as late as 8 pm on weeknights and they give a short 1-hour window for arrival. They've never been late and the delivery personnel are always extremely polite! The prices seem quite high when ordering groceries this way, which is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. However, when you order over $100, there is no extra delivery fee which is great. My only other concern is that they don't allow you to tip the delivery people via credit card when we sign for the order. Much like pizza delivery now, you can pay for your order via credit card online and when they deliver it, you can physically write in a tip amount on the receipt at the door. The target market using this service (e.g. busy, working families) often won't have time or remember to remember to stop at an ATM to get cash simply to tip them. It'd be a huge plus if tipping was incorporated somehow. Thank you, Hy-Vee, for setting the standard on the new way to grocery shop! read more

Nancy is there to help when you need it and Cathy in the specialty food section is extremely knowledgeable and kind. Weekly coupons are great and we save on gas with our card. There is no better store in Omaha. Only reason 3 instead of 4 star is do the their prices. They seem higher than quite a few of area stores.
