I was a previous member of their grocery delivery years ago and had to cancel as there was often a problem with items missing. HyVee is very clean and has fresh food and most checkers that are working are nice enough. But this review is for their FLORAL DEPARTMENT. I went there this evening to ask about a $200 floral arrangement and the florists were generally rude and didn't even ask if I needed any help. When I did ask for help a specific florist (Connie) for help and she was absolutely rude and wouldn't even come over to the desk to speak. That is when I just bought my own flowers and made my own arrangement, which looked better anyways! I will never use their floral department again. I was in a time crunch when I went there and that is the only reason I purchased their bouquets and singular flowers. Walmart actually has just as good bouquets for half the price if someone wanted to make their own. read more

I unfortunately have had nothing but the absolute worst experiences here. My grandparents often order their groceries from this specific Hyvee and it seems as if children have rummaged and thrown things meaninglessly into the bags. They've also had to wait an egregious amount of time each time they go to pick up their groceries so they've recently opted to delivery which is equally horrendous. Because of this I have recently gone with them to pick up their groceries. I have to give it up to Darnell, Ayden & Braden-- maybe a couple of the other kids too, they have definitely been the only reason the online groceries still exist. On the other hand, I've also noticed that there happens to be one specific worker that often has a sour attitude and isn't quite respectful towards guests and his fellow coworkers. I THANKFULLY haven't gotten the pleasure to get his name, but the second I do I hope that he's long gone from there (His name is one of these on the card, I suspect it's either Derrick or Omar-- the one with the sour attitude is shorter and wears glasses). read more

Pharmacy doesn't keep enough medications on hand, no same-day refills. It's always next day, or they will say I can give you some of your medication we don't have enough on hand. Even though I've been filling prescriptions here for over two years, nothing has improved. Hope they will someday keep enough medication's on hand to refill same day. I've even showed up there before where they've said it was filled, and it wasn't. read more

After shopping here for over 25 years, I have thrown away my fuel saver card, since they no longer seem to offer any points for anything anymore. I used a coupon for some granola bars and they held the coupon up to the light inspecting it for fraudulence. Never mind there was a gold embossed seal on it that cannot possibly be duplicated. Several employees did this after they could not figure out how to apply the coupon. Rather than fix the problem they have with their point-of-sales machines, they accuse me of fabricating a coupon. Then they suggested that I tell General Mills to fix their coupons! LOL Yea, General Mills is going to fix their coupons to accommodate this crappy little store in Shawnee Kansas! lmao The turnover here in employees is laughable. I would see new faces every time I visited. The only employee they seem to hold onto is the very incompetent pharmacist who likes to inform customers that their prescriptions are ready for pick-up but when I would go in to pick them up I was ALWAYS told it would be 20 more minutes, even though they just told me they were READY! The techs in the pharmacy come and go but that horrid woman remains. The only decent department is the meat department. Those men have been there since the beginning and are the only ones holding this store together. I'll never shop at this or any other Hy-Vee again. This store is so poorly managed they cannot keep a manager more than a year. There is a very odd odor when you walk in and throughout the store. I have found fresh meat next to the cereal. I was sold moldy baked goods. This store is not going downhill - it's already at the bottom. Aldi's is right down the street. This is a pretty cool grocery shop! I'll start with the lame- the self checkouts don't allow the user to do a whole lot and kinda takes away the purpose of being a "self checkout". The awesome- pix attached- There is a full bar and some of the sushi has boooobies! What more can you ask for, aside from the bazongas on the sushi- it wasn't otherwise so noteworthy. Pharmacy - Can't get INSULIN until TWO DAYS after I was told it would be ready. I couldn't go in the first day, but when I went the second day, I was told by an older, skinny gentleman that it would be 30 minutes. I waited an hour and then was told between 5:30 and 6:30. They called at 7:21 pm to let me know it was ready, but I live more than nine minutes away, and they close at 7:30, which I was not aware of beforehand. I tried this bakery for a baby shower cake because I had read on the neighborhood app that certain Hy Vee Bakeries are really good at custom orders. The cake I wanted for the shower was actually more like a wedding cake. It was two round layers that were supposed to feed 60 people. I requested a DUSTY BLUE ombré effect with blue at the bottom fading to white, to coordinate with my old fashioned stork cake topper. This was very important to me and I emphasized it to the person taking down the information that I didn't want a pastel blue. I asked to taste the cake and she couldn't do that but reassured me my cake would be fresh baked and not a frozen cake. I pick it up less than 24 hours from the time of the shower. I look in the box and it is ombré effect but is a disgusting bright turquoise blue. Too late to do anything about it. The cake still looked cute with the topper on it and I doubt the color bothered anyone but me. My other complaint is that the bottom cake was very dry, making me think it was either over baked or old. We ended up throwing half of the bottom cake away. So sad. This cake was $200. The female who took my order was not friendly when answering my questions. She didn't smile at all until she was walking me up to the cashier to pay. I should have known better than to use this type of bakery. But, I wanted to warn others; if you are really picky about your cake, I don't recommend this bakery. read more

Met at the door by a pretty rude youngster at 10:00 telling me basically to get lost because they are closed. I asked when that happened because I checked google before I drove out and google has hivee on 291 open till 11:00. He said it just happened this week. I told him he ought to think about putting signs up at least. He said 'i know'. I sort of got the impression they all had some party to attract to. Had a great experience shopping at the Mission Pkwy Hy-Vee. When all my groceries were calculated, the total (before tax) ended up being 1.17 short of $50.00. The cashier (Donna G) alerted me to the fact a special was going on that for every $50 purchase, 25 cents would be deducted for each gallon of gas up to 20 gallons. No brainer - for the 15 gallons I usually end up paying for, that would be a savings of $3.75. I bought an item for $1.23. Donna G knows customer service and is an asset to shoppers. read more

My experience with the HyVee Pharmacy at this location was terrible. Twice their computer system was down. During my latest visit, they still had not filled my prescription after 48 hours. Beware!! Don't buy any Chiefs Merchandise here unless you know for sure it fits!!! I spent $55 on pair of tennis shoes and they run way small so tried to return them and was told I could only exchange even though no correct sizes to exchange for. (And yes I had receipt from two days ago!! ) Asked if I could just have store credit and was told no. No signs up stating no returns and wasn't told that at register!! Yes, they have remodeled, however it still stinks like rotten fish in the front of the store. I can only assume it's the refrigerator cases in need of a cleaning? It's just not kept as clean as it should be. It's also very overpriced. Need a bakery cake? I just paid $16 for 1/8th sized plain sheet cake. Granted, I could go elsewhere, but it was last minute...hindsight is 20/20. The parking is pretty bad and slightly dangerous. Pulling into any of the front parking spots, you'll likely see a small sign saying it's reserved for the elderly, pregnant, veterans, etc. I'm not against these parking designations, just the tiny signs that label them, causing you to try to back out to search for an open spot. The employees I have interacted with seem decent, so the 2 stars I gave here are for the employees. So in conclusion my suggestion is to hold your nose, and watch the prices, you'll likely spend about 20 to 35% more at this store. read more

Customer service at the meat counter is awful. A few months ago I asked a question to a lady who worked behind the counter and she was completely rude to me. This week my husband went up and an older gentleman was also rude to him and walked away from him completely. A manager really needs to do something about this because I have never known Hy-very to be so rude of a supermarket. read more

Went into this Hy-Vee location this morning. Staff there was WONDERFUL and turned in money I dropped in the store! So grateful for the honesty/integrity!! I placed an order for a Saturday delivery. Once the delivery time came and went, I contacted the store only to find out they were very behind. I was ensured that the order would still be delivered. After the delivery never occurred, the store was contacted again only to give me a voicemail. The next day I called and was told the situation would be investigated. After checking back after hours to see if the situation had been investigated, I was told they "screwed up a lot of people's orders yesterday" and would have to investigate. At this point I begged for the order to be canceled and refunded. I have received no confirmation that my order was refunded. This is hardly a way to treat people who spend the extra money for the Hy-Vee delivery program. Hy-vee is not the company it used to be. read more

It may seem silly to review a grocery store but I've been shopping this store for over 3 years and they deserve some credit. Keep in mind, this is not the closest store for us as we live down the street from the store in Mission; however, there is a huge difference in customer service between the two locations. Towards the start of the pandemic and through today, we only order online for curbside pickup. The Shawnee store employees are always so nice, polite, and genuine. I usually pick up in the morning, but one day I scheduled our time between 5pm and 6pm. I felt so bad because it was so hot and steamy that day and there were so many people picking up at the same time. There was only one employee delivering groceries to each vehicle. I wasn't bothered to wait, but it only took about 5-10 minutes before the employee reached my vehicle to ask for my name. He was drenched in sweat from head to toe as he was literally running to each vehicle, but he apologized for my wait. I couldn't believe that he even thought about apologizing, but I let him know there was no need to apologize and reminded him he was doing a great job. I wish I could remember his name, but in all honesty, all of the employees at curbside pickup have been amazing. I will continue to drive out of my way an additional 10-15 minutes just to have a positive experience, no matter how simple the act is. read more

I went to the advertised drive-thru flu shot. BIG MISTAKE. I waited in a car line for 1 hour and it didn't move at all. I finally got out of my car and asked what the problem was. She indicated the nurse administering the shots was busy inside the store. If you need a flu shot, I'd suggest you go to your doctor or a place like Walgreens/CVS.
