Is it me or are all the rooftop bars starting to blend together? Or mimicking each other? Partly the decor and set up along with the music? Not an issue, just an observation. Aire is on the roof of the Hyatt Hotel in the Loop - FYI. Obviously it has lovely views and pricey drinks. Bartender at first was rude because she was slammed but the second time around was more pleasant. Since it is at the Hyatt, you will get a more tame crowd than at other rooftop bars. read more

Met with a few ladies to have an after work cocktail. Only two elevators go to 24 - the others go to 23 then you walk. The menu is limited and pricey. I read the brunch was amazing so may go back for that (ground floor). Too many rooftops with friendlier pricing and views to come back here. Miller lite bottle $8. read more

The hotel was ok. The staff were nice and the inside clearly had had an update. We stayed in a king size room in the east tower. The room was nice but wasn't memorable, was exactly what you expect in a hotel. The reasons my husband and I agree that it is a 3 (we actually think more of a 3.5) are for three main reasons. The first is the layout of the room. The bed was on the wall directly facing the windows with the TV parallel to the bed. It was a big TV (40-50 inches) that was on a swivel base. It was incredibly uncomfortable to watch TV. You had to lie on your side or sit with your head turned. When laying one person was blocking part of the TV. Honestly if the dresser with the TV had just been swapped with the desk that was next to it this would have been resolved. The second issue that we weren't prepared for was, and this was probably our own fault of just not thinking it through, was that the apartments/condo across the street could see directly into the room and vis versa. We watched a family with kids have breakfast and saw lots of people milling around their homes. We didn't feel comfortable leaving the windows open hardly at all. Lastly was the bed. Initially after a long day of walking around I flopped into bed and thought it was so comfy. It was soft, like laying on a cloud. The problem was that if you have any issues with your back (and even if you don't, like my husband) that you can't sleep on a cloud all night and not wake up with back pains. The next day we walked around the Art Institute and by the time we loaded the train that afternoon and sat down both of our backs were shot. Overall it was an ok hotel. It was clean with amenities. I doubt I'd stay there again but if I did I think I'd ask to see the room first to at least hopefully avoid the awkward layout. read more

This is a fantastic property. Centric is the newest Hyatt concept featuring an emphasis on local artwork, toiletries, food and beverage, etc. an extremely convenient location two blocks off the red line in the south Loop. The staff was warm and gracious, my Diamond status was instantly recognized and we did receive a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful large room with a corner view. In lieu of a Regency Club they have a small lounge on the third floor with an espresso machine, computers, tvs and snacks. The hotel restaurant Cochon Volant had a very filling and tasty breakfast(duck confit omelette). A very hip and modern motif, this is a gem in the Hyatt portfolio that I look forward to returning to on future visits to Chicago read more

By far an easy choice when visiting the financial district. Clean, comfortable rooms. Most with a view. Super pleasant staff and probably one of the nicest doormen ever. There's only one oddity....the shower door sweeps the floor so much that you can't put a bathmat in front of it until you open the door, otherwise it will crinkle up. Minor setback. Not a deal killer. I would definitely stay here again. Has all of the comforts you'd expect in a phenomenal location. Blue line, red line, culture, restaurants all nearby. read more

After reading lots of reviews, we settled on this Hyatt for a birthday weekend getaway . Overall, it was very clean and the staff was nice, but the room just had a cold feeling to it. It was a little too modern for us, with tile in the room, white/gray scheme, low bed, and ok bed linens. It just wasn't cozy or romantic. The location was in more of a business location, not too many bars and restaurants around. I'd say stay in the river north area if your visiting Chicago for the first time- it's a little more active and fun. To sum up, not our favorite Hyatt. read more

Absolutely Fabulous!!!! My husband & I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last month and both have been great experiences! I love the super friendly front desk staff - they give great recommendations! Also make sure to check out the beautiful rooftop deck! We stay with Hyatt often and this experience was one of our favs. Mike at the front desk helped in so many ways! His ideas of how to bring people out to the community were great. Location is the best feature of this hotel, one block from the Blue Line (to/from OHare) two blocks to the Red Line and 4 to the loop lines. Chicago is very walkable anyways, and they are right in the middle of the Loop. The room was clean, spacious, I was upgraded to a corner suite which was very roomy. The elevators are small.....really small....but get the job done. The staff was friendly on check in and out. There is a little lounge on 3 that has trail mix snacks and a place to hang out, nothing exciting but could be a good place to relax separate from those int he room. This place gets 2 stars purely for their service. Someone please explain to me why during the three times I stopped by the front desk throughout my entire stay, the same front desk agent went out of his way to avoid me each time. They don't greet you or even acknowledge your presence. And if you greet them, they ignore you. I don't know what I did to deserve such poor service?? They're also not very helpful. I had to print my shuttle pass after their business lounge had already closed. When I asked if there was any other way for me to print it, the front desk didn't even have an answer to my question. The lack of knowledge fascinated me. AND... When I went to their business lounge the next morning, 30 minutes after it had opened, the one computer you can use to print was not functioning. Concierge was great from the moment we checked in. Door crew was very helpful with bags and directions! Room was perfect! Spacious, inviting, clean. Everything was exactly what I needed for this trip. I was able to get my work done without being overly distracted by neighbors and noise, despite being close to elevators. It's very hard to recommend this hotel. I have stayed here many times. The food is great, also wonderful location. But the room service is terrible. It's been two days and my room hasn't been clean.I work the conventions so I get up very early in the morning. I expect the room to be clean when I arrive after 4 PM .But the room is still dirty. I called the front desk. And sure enough a very delightful person called back. But he did not acknowledge the problem. He thought it was my responsibility to notify them I wanted my room cleaned earlier. I love the Hyatt but not this particular location. read more

This is a boutique hotel run by a large Hotel chain, that's the way you can look at it. Everything from the restaurant, the check-in, and the rooms all jump out as non-chain hotel. This is a new niche of hotel chains want to break into especially in big cities where real estate prices are really high, it allows them to have a smaller footprint, yet a presence and it attracts the younger clientele into the chain brand. The check-in seemed lovely and pleasant, it was only two computers to check you in but aren't a lot of customers. My room wasn't ready so they were suppose to inform me when it was, never got a text or call. Once in my room, I was surprised at the nice layout of the hotel. Small, but yet well laid out and appointed. I didn't notice the complete lack of toiletries until the following morning when I had to take a shower, and than nothing. I am very picky when it comes to hotels but this was by far, one of the best experiences I have had. The service and staff were phenomenal. They have a lounge area with FREE coffee, water bottles and snacks. They are unlimited. I have not been to a hotel like that before and it is really convenient. Additionally, we had to wait 5 minutes for an elevator to come, one staff member noticed and gave us free breakfast the next morning. I would highly recommend staying here and I want to thank the hotel for such a great time :) read more

I just checked in to this hotel. They are brand new. So far it's nice but a little bit confusing. Diamond breakfast seems to be 15 dollar voucher which is not in line with the diamond benefits rule posted in the terms and condition. The elevator is very slow. You have to push both sides of the elevators sets. The blinds are not automatic so it gets tiring having to pull them down. The room looks sterile and minimalistic. The gym is rather small. Bathroom doesn't have usual toothpaste like other hyatts. You have to request. Compared to the park Hyatt this is new but definitely not in same league. But I don't really like the service at park Hyatt. I hope they work out the kinks soon. Location is great as it is within walking distance to business offices, shopping and some restaurants. read more

This was a very nice place. My boyfriend used his Hyatt points & status for early and late check in which was one of the best things ever. But if we didn't use points, the hotel would have been $360+! I mean, the location is cool, but that's close to a quarter of a months rent! They have a really awesome feature to this hotel called the corner. In the corner, there are snacks- dried fruit, mixed nuts, tootsie rolls, coffee, and tea. It's not accompanied by any staff, but it is very convenient. The room itself is pretty nice. The bed was large and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was separated shower, sink, toilet, which was nice. My favorite part was the plug ins. Direct USB plugs, aux cord , etc that go right into the wall. The front desk folks were pleasant at attentive. I probably won't recommend it unless I the price is a little lower. read more

Great location, nice and big room with main street view on one side and office building on the other side. Make sure to ask for front main street view otherwise you'll be looking at a rooftop with equipment and many air condition units. Why three stars? The front desk make false promises and gives wrong directions. We also reserved a king size bed and when they changed our room we got two queen size beds. We didn't feel like arguing so we just stayed at the room. They have a nice area for coffee, tea, snacks, games, and a library. A nice place to relax=third floor. read more

Found a deal on Priceline. Nice location in the loop, under construction but very friendly stay, loves the lounge center with espresso style coffee machine and snacks. Didn't get a chance to see the rooftop bar. One star off because fitness center was a little outdated/small and parking was quite steep ($65). But rooms were updated and clean with a very nice amenities including a dry bar hairdryer. read more

I loved the smell of the room, the people at the front desk, the car dude, and the comfort of the room overall. The location was perfect because it has a Walgreens right across the street, and a noodles and company for carryout pad Thai. The bed was heavenly and the room spotless. I also loved the espresso machine in The Corner room on the 3rd floor. Parking is so funny, $66! You could park for 3 nights on $66 in Detroit. The tv also came on at 4am with my online checkout reminder that was not my favorite. Otherwise it was lovely, and I would definitely go back. read more

The main issue we had during our stay was getting our car back. We were told that valet would take 20-30 minutes (at most) to retrieve our car. Instead, we were kept waiting over an hour. We asked multiple times where our car was and explained how we were going to miss an appointment if it took any longer. It's hard to believe that $72 for valet parking means waiting over an hour to get your car back, and valet helping guests who arrived after you. read more

For such a beautiful hotel, this place was poorly designed for function. The location is great. Walking distance from Union Station, Willis Tower, and Millennium Park. However, the line for check-in was tedious and followed by a 17 minute wait for the elevators. Be prepared to wait anytime you want to use the elevator... The room is beautiful. We were upgraded to a suite which was really nice and the views were nice of the downtown area and we could even see a smidge of the lake. But great decor doesn't make up for horrible inconvenience. The open concept puts no door between the bed and bathroom. The toilet is separated from the sink by a swinging glass door that doesn't shut in any way with gaps on each side of the door and doesn't connect to the ceiling. Absolutely zero privacy. The shower is also really nice, but it is impossible to use without getting water all over the floor when you open the door and then try to manage to squeeze out between the sink... it seems like the door should open from the right, but it opens from the left. The bed itself was comfortable, but the pillows were the worst. 5 down pillows that flatten absolutely completely offering no support whatsoever. It made for a really long night. As diamond members, the best benefit is complimentary breakfast. We received 2 $20 vouchers when we checked in, but $20 only covered about 3 entree options. When we checked out, we turned in our vouchers, but found we were still charged the full amount. With so many hotel options in downtown Chicago, I'd give a hard pass on this hotel unless aesthetics are your only concern. read more

Uses ecosmart thermostat that is clearly rigged to show adjusted temperature as higher than it really is and won't let you adjust. I usually like it cool but I am in this room in the 13th floor and it is very cold and the thermostat won't let me push it up. -1 Towels are very thin and very hard like those from a one star hotel. Maybe this hotel is for treehuggers. Since it has barely any heat and uses towels that are not plush/are super thin. Probably a nice hotel in Spring and Fall when you don't need AC or Heat. Rooftop bar: The front desk told us to go to the 23rd floor; a sign there said to take the stairs. There was no sign where the stairs were, so took emergency exit up. Got up there, all tables said reserved but only half of them being used. We asked if we could get a table the staff told us to go to the hostess in the 24th floor lobby. Got there waited 5 minutes, no hostess, we also realized we could have taken lift to 24th floor. She finally shows up and told us all tables we're called for. So we went back, found an empty table (!) and waited for the plentiful staff to come and they were only hovering by the bar and not making rounds. Finally went to bar to get a drink on our own. No Sauvignon Blanc (dry white standard) and bottled beer was warm. Views pretty good decor modern ok but no music or real ambiance. Unlikely to try this again.... Too many choices! read more

The layout of the room is absolutely worthless for a business traveller. No desk, no table. The only place to sit is on the bed. There was barely enough space to walk in the room. Outside of the room itself the property was fine, nice bar and lobby. If they took out one of the beds crammed into the room and replaced it with some other furniture it would get 4 stars. read more

I would like to thank Pua who at the front desk helped me with a refund issue. Booked a reservation and canceled in Feb. In April, just realized it was not refunded. I called around 5:30 pm local time and Pua did not just write down what I called, but she doubled checked with reservation department to see if anyone could help me with this; while no one she could reach the moment. She ensures that I will be contacted the next day. Within 30 minutes, she called me back and notified my refund had been issued. This is an excellent customer service I did not expect. All the colors were white and beige and it was just disappointing. I ended up wishing I had stayed at the kimpton hotel next door. I travel to Chicago frequently for work and have stayed here twice. The service is exceptional. I had a very minor issue during my first stay, and could not believe how responsive every team member was. I got a follow up email from the manager even after the incident was over, and was left a personal thank you note and treat in my room on my next stay. I opted to stay at my client site this weekend instead of going home. I had to be downtown on Friday, so staying at my usual hotel wouldn't be possible. I'm so glad I chose this hotel. Now while it's pricey (even for downtown Chicago), the staff was IMPECCABLE. From the valet, to check-in, each person worked overtime to make sure I had a great experience. When I arrived, my car was swiftly attended to by Valet. At the front desk, the staff mentioned me by name, and had already upgraded my room, based on my status. The actual room was BEAUTIFUL, with views all the way to Lake Michigan! I as on the 15th floor, and my room was really incredible. I was upgraded to a King Suite. There were windows along the back walls, which were perfect for natural light. The bathroom was a bit small, but configured perfectly. The only reason this isn't a 5-Star review is that the beds are VERY low to the ground, the pillows are way too soft, the TV channels offered are EXTREMELY LIMITED, and there is only ONE ice machine (4th floor....who does that?!?). Even with the nuances I mentioned, I would definitely stay here again. Oh, and there is a Roof Top Bar, but the menu is very limited and slightly overpriced. I'm not sure what they are going for, but I was not a fan of the menu. You will definitely need to venture out to eat lunch/dinner. read more

PROS: Great location. Aesthetically beautiful. Great after work crowd. The drink I had was delicious. CONS: High priced ($48.50 for 2 drinks & fries). Nothing on the menu was was then $15. The cheapest GLASS of champagne was $24. Limited drink menu. I wanted a glass of Riesling and they weren't serving it on the rooftop. Service was a tad bit slow. Although everyone was very friendly and accommodating. OVERALL: Beautiful looking place with great atmosphere, but a tad bit pricey with limited choices for an after work drink. read more
