This is an amazing Fort Lauderdale Christmas gem! Thanks to my Yelp/Instagram pal Rachel M for telling me about this spot, I had no clue this holiday happening existed. I have never seen anything quite like this, but I'm really happy to have visited this decoration explosion. I had been longing to go to some kind of outdoor Christmas event since it's so warm here in South FL. The Hyatt Extreme Christmas fit the bill perfectly. This home is truly Clark Griswold's dream come true! We arrived with friends about 15 minutes before sunset since I was nervous about how the parking would be. We parked on the lawn, but it did get a bit busier by the time we left. It was stimulation overload with the plethora of festive decorations here, but in a good way. Once the lights came on it was amazing! The numerous decorations here are SO elaborate, I really appreciate the time and effort this family puts into doing this. I especially love all of the palm trees with the holiday lights strung on them. Being from NY, it makes my heart so happy to see this type of tree decorated for the holiday. It does get a little busy here, but I think it's worth doing. If you need a Christmas decoration fix, I highly recommend coming here to get into the holiday mood. read more

This has to be one of the most fun and free things you can do to celebrate the holidays in Broward County. The Hyatt family decorates their house to the max and then opens the gate for all to see, They also collect donations for organizations, write letters to service members, and have crafts for the kids. If you have never been you will truly be amazed. There are lights galore, a Ferris wheel, Disney characters, snowmen, Santa and his sleigh, and a manager just to name a few of the displays. As much as I love to visit I have not done so much in recent years because of the war the City of Plantation has waged on the Hyatt's. The city has deemed the display to be a nuisance and took the Hyatt's to court to stop it. They lost and had to pay the family's court cost. The result of the fall out is that the city will attempt to ticket every car they can on Old Hiatus Road for illegal parking. Last year a local law firm volunteered their services to have the tickets thrown out and were successful. I don't know what is going to happen this year. If you are interested in the saga you can read more about on the family's facebook page. The house is in a residential neighborhood so parking is tricky. There is a small lot across from the house that seems safe to park in. I also saw a sign that was posted on the corner that said parking was a block away. I believe a church at one time offered safe parking. I opted to park on Old Hiatus Road with many other people that seemed to be far away enough from the police. I was worried about getting a ticket the whole time so it put a damper on the fun. Thankfully we made it back before the police reached us but I saw that was not the case for a lot of other people. Parking is at your own risk here. Next year the mayor seat of Plantation is up for election so if they get a new mayor sympathetic to the Hyatt's things may change. December 23 was the last night that the gates were opened to see the display for 2017. Lights go off for the year on December 28th. The Hyatt's do a great job of listing their hours and communicating with people through their facebook page. It's a shame that an amicable relationship can't be reached with Plantation. The Hyatt's clearly love Christmas and they share their joy with the community and especially children. read more

If you want to see something merry and bright, go and check this lovely home out during the holidays. The owners of this house does a spectacular job with putting up all of the lights and decorating their home for the holidays. There's even a real Santa families can take pictures with. They accept donations for a food drive and the Humane Society as well as an area to write a letter to a soldier. The City of Plantation bites. They charge this family hundreds a day for police to direct the traffic and keeping the roads blocked for everyone to come enjoy this show. We had to park at a nearby church and walk over to the house, which was about a quarter mile away. It's well worth the walk to see this awesome display. There's an online petition to sign and show your support to keep this ongoing 20 year or so tradition going by the Hyatt family. Apparently, this has been a big issue with the City Hall on how it creates a safety hazard and a "mess". All I can say that it's a lot of hard work and dedication to put up over 200,000 lights, 30 foot Christmas tree, and an extraordinary amount of decor for everyone to enjoy. People come from all over the country (some worldwide) with their families to see it. I'm sure some of the City employees has been there to check it out as well and won't say a peep about it. It's a shame how such a good cause can be burned by a local city hall. Thank you Hyatt family for standing up for what you believe in and showing what the holidays are all about. read more

A must see during the holidays! Warning... once you see this house, though, every other house you drive by that is decorated for Christmas looks very mediocre! LOL. We went during the week and parked on the street easily, but were only able to see the house from outside the gates. On the weekends, they open up the gates to the public so you can walk through the displays. Regardless, it was a beautiful site to see, and my 4 year old son really enjoyed looking at all the different light displays. Such a cool tradition this family has carried on for many years. This was totally worth the drive from Palm Beach county to go see. My wife and I just went to Tradewinds park to let our two-year old son see the Christmas lights and it wasn't really worth it, but this place was! It's a little confusing to get to, but you have to come in off Broward Blvd at Old Hiatus road - don't worry, you'll see all of Plantation's finest directing traffic, and park at a church on the street. You'll walk about a half-mile to get to their house and what a display! I heard there was 200k lights on this family's house. Many people from all over the area come to see them and I know why. There are decorations all over the front lawn, lights strung up on almost every square inch of the house, and even a real Santa!! You'll get to see a mini ferris wheel and some lights twinlke with music being played. I was greeted by Mrs. Hyatt when I walked in and she told me it takes a couple of months to set everything up. It's nice to see them give back to the community and take donations for animal shelters and the needy. The only unfortunate part is that the City of Plantation isn't too happy and is fining them $250 a day for having their display up. What a bunch of Scrooges!! I'll write a review about them later! Anyway, if the Hyatt family happens to read this review, THANK YOU for everything you have done. The community is a much better place because of you! read more

Great celebration of Christmas. My two grandchildren, 3 & 5 were enthralled with the displays that they could see at their level. Several picture opportunities available. An overabundance of Plantation police officers. It was like they were expecting fights to break out over someone getting their picture taken with Santa. For some unknown reason the city of Plantation made the Hyatt's take down their cute Santa's Workshop display. I thought the days of persecuting Christians ended a couple of thousand years ago. I guess the City of Plantation did not get the memo. If you are a Plantation resident you should make sure the Mayor and City Council know your feelings about their actions against the Hyatt's XMAS display. read more

It is a very nice display of Christmas lights in someone's house. Last time the police had the road blocked so we had to park far away and the walk was very long. If you are bringing little ones that can still ride the umbrella strollers, bring it. read more
