The most disgusting breakfast I've ever had and of course did not finish it
    Marc L.

Lobby looks OK you could clearly see it was a fixer-upper. However, once you start walking down the hallways and go into the room it's a whole different story.. went to sleep with my clothes and socks on refuse to touch the floor. I could assure you I will never stay at this hotel.. Called the reception from 6 AM to 6:30 AM nobody picked up the phone. I finally get downstairs. I go to the Starbucks section to order an espresso. The person immediately tells me the machine is broken. . I told him I called the Starbucks corporate office and they said that would be impossible . That being said, the worker turned the machine on and made me an espresso.. The breakfast the service is absolutely -3 star rating as far as I'm concerned . Eggs absolutely tasteless. Meat patty like a piece of cardboard..

I've discovered that comedy greatly relaxes everyone. People mirror back what you put out typically. Tanisha the manager of 8 years was struggling to find a king bed with a tub after a few hours' effort. I'd reserved one but it was a matter of waiting out those late stragglers. That's when I reminded her that indeed we already had a king with a tub - and I gestured at my prodigious paunch commanding the lobby. Silence. Then we all laughed - at the fat man! I kid but yes we laughed. I'm not all that stout but it ensured they realized I wasn't just another demanding egotist but a reasonable fellow willing to work with them within their limitations. Now the folks running this place are just fine but here's a few ideas to improve. Spring for a big highway sign 800 feet before you happen upon the tiny driveway entrance just after a hairpin turn as you're screeching off the highway. That's a site issue. But there's a few other things here that make it not the Hyatt we've come to expect over the years: a bit worn, cramped lobby by Hyatt standards: a hot house-encased swimming pool on the side which is a no-go zone for us asthmatics; and a fairly Days Inn-level vibe to the breakfast and the overall clientele. But you pay a measly $150 for a sizable clean room with a comfortable king sized enormo-bed and now, a tub. I stayed three nights, two with a shower. Slept just fine each night. Anyway, I didn't come here to enjoy myself - I came here to work over the Memorial Day weekend and not entertain super models. And the quiet and work space was what I needed. Sure I could use a super model but they'd want room service. Nonsense aside, I must say that as a bit of an empath, as a compassionate fellow, I feel for the little armies of hardworking young room tidying staff, the front desk staff also in their twenties, all so earnest and I think how much harder their lives are than mine, working for far less, and I feel a little guilty for grousing about the little details. But, any business worth its salt looks for the critiques to improve. So let's keep this moving: whatever they use to clean these rather musky rooms with an asthmatic wall unit air conditioner is making it hard to breathe. That's just me. You should be fine. And my one unpleasant staff moment during my three day stay isn't worth mentioning because it passed in a sentence and all likely ten to fifteen other staff interactions were quite pleasant. Every single person made me feel welcome and they made every effort to help every time I asked - which was two or three times but still. Tonight I feel far more than just some tubby mope with an evening's work ahead and more like a temporary king with a tub!

The room was a great size for a weeklong stay and the location in relation to NYC is very nice. A little tricky to get in and out of, but manageable. For the price, a couple of bigger issues. First, age and wear are very noticeable. The side door which should be security locked, wouldn't shut and latch without help. The bigger issue to me was the air. I don't know much about HVAC, but in a hotel room where windows do not open, it needs to be better. Stale swamp is the best I can describe it as. It made it hard to stay in the room to work. I'd give it a 2.5 if possible, but I'll lean lower with this system as for the roughly $150 cost, it doesn't measure up.

Corner of my room - filthy...

I am re-posting a Yelp review I wrote in 2020 - 4 years back. The only upside is that the Hyatt Place Fair Lawn has large rooms. I am adding some photos. Hyatt usually has much higher standards. _____________________ For over 20 years I have stayed at Hyatt properties worldwide. I am at the upper level of their frequent guests and am brand loyal. I sorry fellow travelers, this place really does not hit the mark. I will not put it on my roach motel list, but do suggest going somewhere else. The check in was unfriendly. The hostess was rude, arrogant and made me feel "oh why did I go here". There was no one else at the front desk though it took several minutes to notice me. I was not greeted with a welcome, thank you.... It was a frowning woman who clearly did not care whether I stayed here or down the street. To worsen matters the hall smelled like sewage. This is not last for the full two days of my stay but was very obvious the first night and day. I cannot believe I wasted points staying here!

We arrived late, 1 am, ended up in a room facing the highway, which was noisy. The next day we asked if they could change our room. They said yes, however it took quite awhile to do so. The front desk staff had difficulty with their computer system and switching the room The rooms are large with a desk and sitting area They provide a free continental breakfast Due to Covid they provide the breakfast in a to go bag. They have coffee and an assortment of Tazo teas.

"SO HUMID" walked into our Hyatt Place room in mid winter and was smacked in the face with humidity.
    Benjamin G.

The room felt gross and was damp, humid, and smelled of mildew. Opening the curtains confirmed the feeling as the walls and windows were just covered in condensation. Room size was nice and amenities were fine. But its hard to enjoy your stay when the air is so heavy with humidity that it makes it hard to breath while sleeping.

Both rooms had a living room area and were about equal in size, but the bathroom with the king bed was bigger.

My (now) husband and I had our dream wedding here and it couldn't have been more perfect. We would do it over the same exact way every single time. For a couple who loves NYC and wanted to bring the vibe to NJ (where my husband grew up), the ambiance of PWL was everything we wanted. The exposed brick is beautiful and the space is so beautiful. I had the best customer service experience of my life working with the venue coordinator, Chris Ryter. We could not have had the day we did without him. Chris took care of EVERYTHING for us from the actual day we met - things I would never have thought of. He made the entire process so seamless. Leading up to the wedding, I gave him a 5 page "master doc" with what we had envisioned in terms of decor/set up and the execution was flawless. The entire staff was checking on us the entire night if we needed anything - from a tide to go stick to a glass of champagne. The food was delicious and everyone had a blast at the bar. If you're nosy like me, these were the entree selections we chose: - Roasted Amish Chicken Breast with Mushroom Marsala and Roasted Fingerling Potatoes - Grilled Atlantic Salmon with Tomato, olive, onion & basil and Grilled Zucchini Squash - Baked Ziti basil, ricotta, mozzarella

I was completely embarrassed as my in-laws were watching me flail my arms to get them something to drink. The food: The food items were basic and tasted pre-made. The only item that was quite delicious, was the Ham. Amazing! The omelette station was 2nd, but the one chef was extremely rude and did not listen to any order. Besides that, very basic and tasteless dishes. The staff: did not see any of the staff smile once. This was a huge disappointment on Mothers Day! The service: The service was just bad, i had to get up to get coffee, drinks and when asked for another sprite it never came. the absolute worst was the gratuity line as we had an automatic line for a sit down meal gratuity, this was buffet! Not a sit down dinner. Also, to give a nice kick, it was a cash bar. I have never seen of this on Mothers day, Atleast Mimosas. A very dissappointing experience, low quality food, service and atmosphere as noone seemed happy to be there with extremely good tipping for not doing much.
