All of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. After you step off the busy street into the hotel lobby, they are a treat to speak with and are great representatives of the LUMA brand. The room itself was a lot bigger than we imagined. It was clean, up to date, and had all amenities we could need for our week stay. Also the room AC was great, considering we visited during a heat wave. Lastly, daily housekeeping is a huge plus. Post-COVID, many hotels we've visited no longer do daily cleaning, so coming back to a nice clean room after a long day being tourists was a welcome sight. When we come back to visit NYC, we'll definitely stay here again.

The amenities were above what you would get elsewhere. The room was quiet even though we were overlooking a busy street. Loved that the hotel was located so close to Bryant Park. The service here has always been good but unfortunately it was slower this time around and at times staff seemed distracted. I know they were trying a new online system and that may have contributed. Still it's our go to when we are in the city.

Washington Square hotel Hotel darn near checked every box though when we visited this weekend. We arrived to an elegant walk up entry to a hotel that had a midcentury style and grace to it. It was a very quick check in. We took 1 of the elevators up to our room on the 3rd. I didn't know till later at check out we actually had room 305, the Bob Dillon, Joan Baez room. It was small but spacious room, if that makes any sense. Bed was harder than I liked that night but but after a fun night(which was all blocks away), I crashed hard. The continental breakfast had ok croissants and some made to order coffee options so a big win. But besides being close to the comedy club and the mix of classy and trashy bars, it also was right there by Washing Square park. One of the most famous, but also funny enough, one of the the most unrated around in my book. Sunday morn we walked in around 10am to chess players, dog trainers, piano players, and the most pleasant people. I'm pretty sure that one of our next NY trips will be with a stay at the WSH.

Choosing here for this recent visit was as much a reminiscence as it was everything else. And, bottom line, it didn't disappoint on any metric. The price point is right on. The location is absolutely the best in town. In the middle of so many favorite things and the old neighborhood too so maybe I'm partial. The room was a king room for as who has time for no kings. Upper floor, quiet, comfortable and clean. The desk and the door were both affable and accommodating. Some, it seems, require more attention than others. I am not one of these. A quick greeting or farewell is adequate; obsequiousness makes me uncomfortable. There are zero reasons not to stay here. Use the shekel you save on fancy dancy dining. WSH rocks.

Both rooms had serious cleanliness issues Room 304 was especially bad. There were stains and peeling paint on the walls, and the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly. There were black spots throughout that made it feel really unsanitary. Room 303didn't have a working iron. We let the front desk know, but it took several calls before one was finally brought up. What really pushed things over the edge was my sister's late arrival on the night of June 12. I had already checked her in, knowing her flight would be delayed and she'd be arriving after midnight. But when she showed up around 1:30 a.m. with her two young children, she was left standing outside knocking on the door for a while. No one answered at first because the staff member at the front desk was apparently asleep. I've stayed here before and used to trust this hotel, but this visit fell way below expectations. Between the cleanliness issues, poor response from staff, and the unprofessional late-night check-in experience, I won't be returning anytime soon.

But not without someone from the front desk banging on the door at 12:30 demanding assurance that'd we'd be gone by the originally agreed upon time of 1 PM. Low class? Indeed! Also the IHG app assures guests that the rooftop bar was scheduled to reopen on Juneteenth. Nope. Front desk lackeys proclaimed that the space is now only available for special events. Get outta here Indigo Wall Street. Get a real GM in there.

No matter who I speak with, they are always friendly, helpful, and go above and beyond! As others mentioned, the elevators are a mess. I always request a low floor so I can take the stairs, but the view on the high floors are spectacular. The rooms are small, but that is typical for NYC. Overall, this is often the best price for a basic, quality hotel in a good location in the city.

But every time we tried to get the elevator it took 15+ minutes. There are four elevator banks and I think only two were ever working. We stayed on the 20th floor and had to take the stairs down three times during our stay because we had been waiting at the elevator forever. Not just that the elevator didn't come for at least 15 minutes but when it finally did arrive, it was usually packed to the brim with angry guests and you had to wait for the next one. We even had to take our suitcases down the stairs the day we checked out because our airport pickup was waiting. The elevator wasn't as bad in non-morning hours but it was a huge inconvenience for any time we didn't try to leave before peak breakfast time. Elevator issues aside, housekeeping was extremely poor. One day they didn't come until 5pm after we had returned from a full day out so we just skipped service that day. When they did come, they frequently forgot to replenish items like coffee cups, towels, toilet paper, etc. The free hot breakfast food was atrocious, except for the steel cut oatmeal. Never again.

I also really like that they have 4 elevator bays, it made things go by a lot faster since it seems like a busy hotel. The location is also great because you can walk so many places! There's a really good convenience/deli store nearby that we frequented daily. It's also close to Blue Bottle Coffee and not too far from Liberty Bagel. We are also close to Wall Street! So it's by a lot of things. Very walkable. The best part about this hotel was the customer service. Everyone that we interacted with was so pleasant! Everyone said good morning to us, greeted us with a hello or just gave us a friendly smile. It was every single person, not just the individuals working at the front, but literally everyone. They made us feel SO welcome and like we were family. I saw them do this with others as well so it really seemed genuine to me. The hotel also has a lot of lobby seating, a meeting room area, a restaurant that it's connected to as well as a bar/restaurant on one of their own floors, so there's quite a bit here. This hotel does offer a good location, but beyond that, left much to be desired. The lobby and halls are very crowded, and it's easy to get confused with the hotel on the other side. We were given an accessible room for some reason and the shower had no divide, so water ended up getting everywhere in the bathroom. The bathroom was very outdated as well. The room was clean but also very small and basic. Definitely helpful to know what you are getting, but next time we visit NYC, I'd prefer to try staying somewhere else.
