I'm not sure why this hotel has so many good reviews! First, housekeeping did not replace the toilet paper roll between customers, so I had to open the new pack. I was a bit disgusted at having to use the same toilet paper as a stranger (aside from using a public restroom, I feel that this is different). The soap bar also looked like it had not been replaced, as when I opened the box to use it, it was already wet and smudged on the edges. The shower pressure is extremely hard and actually hurt to stand in there, and the doors wouldn't close all the way so the floor would practically flood. I had clothes on the floor to change into and they got soaked, and they were a good ways away from the shower door. Room is loud with thin floors and walls. There were also crumbs left on the rug in front of the couch that housekeeping didn't vacuum. Everything in my room also just seemed slightly damp, from the bed to my clothes to my shoes. My shoes were not damp before I brought them into the room. Someone attempted to enter my room (probably just got the wrong room number), but hotel staff did not seem concerned one bit when I called down to ask about it. I was a solo female traveler so I was very anxious about this! I also needed to shave off a day from my stay and they charged me an extra $125 to take OFF a day. They also play very loud techno upbeat music late at night in the "lobby" which was overstimulating coming in around 10:30-11:00 at night. I say "lobby" because when you walk in, it just looks like the snacks/drink stand to the right. I walked around trying to find the main desk, and there were 4-5 staff members standing at the desk chatting who watched me walk around and did not offer any help. The bed was okay (but I had to stack 3 pillows on top because they sink too much), and I did enjoy the blackout curtains and location in Harrisonburg. I did not try the restaurant or pool or gym. Overall I would not stay here again as there are literally 5-6 other hotels within view of my room that are most likely better! read more

Disappointed. This used to be our favorite spot when roadtripping, but recently things felt different. We were charged a total of $100 for our pet (price was $50 six months ago). The hidden fees felt shady. Our bed was sunken in on one side, so sleeping was awful for my partner. The breakfast is BAD. Eggs were rubbery. Fine if you like toast and cereal, but not worth it. So sad because we used to love this place. read more

Really good option to use when visiting JMU. Located in town, with restaurants and much more all located nearby. Just a short trip to campus. The exterior is highlighted in blue. The lobby, bar, and rooms are updated and clean. I stay at a lot of hotels, of all levels, and this Hyatt is particularly good. read more

The Hyatt Place is my go-to when traveling between the Northeast and South Carolina. HP offers tremendous value for the money. The food on the rooftop and in the lobby is outstanding. We stopped over for one night at the Hyatt to rest up coming home from Washington D.C. The room and bed was very comfortable and the temperature in the room was perfect. While I'm always cold in certain hotel rooms, here surprisingly I was not. The room included amenities such as: coffee machine, tea packets/coffee pods, glasses, ice bucket, and iron. There are also ice machines and microwaves located on floors 2 and 4. I highly recommend their breakfast. You will not leave hungry as they have something for everyone: scrambled eggs, quiche bites, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal, cereal stations and fresh fruit. There is also a coffee and tea station, and the teas are one of my favorites: Tazo. At $8 a person, don't snooze on the breakfast. Also, when we arrived at night, they had the fire pit going in the back of the hotel and it was really relaxing sitting there in our Adirondack chairs. If you're looking for a really comfortable stay with a delicious breakfast buffet, book the Hyatt in Harrisonburg like we did. read more

We used to go to Harrisonburg regularly for business but haven't been since Covid struck. At that time, the hotels were all needing some love. It's nice to finally have found the sparkling new Hyatt Place - we just wish it had been here for the last 5 years! Although they were a little busy, we were greeted by the friendly staff immediately as we walked in the door. We quickly checked in and went up to our room. It was beautiful - it was a corner room with floor to ceiling windows on two sides that overlooked the mountains (well, it actually overlooked Walmart but the view of the distant mountains was pretty). Our room was sparkling clean and very well appointed. The bed was comfy and the living area spacious enough for a short stay. There is a rooftop bar that made a nice break from our long drive. The staff was friendly and unobtrusive as we sat on the open deck looking at the lights of the town. There were couches and fire pits that would be quite cozy on cool evenings. It really was nice. There were a few problems, however. I was down to breakfast rather early yet the buffet was in serious need of replenishing. There was no silverware nor anyone to ask for some. After some searching, I found a basket in a storage area under a counter and replenished the silverware caddy myself. The main issue I had with breakfast was that there were no serving utensils for the bread drawers. People were reaching in with bare hands grabbing bread, bagels and donut holes. It really was pretty gross if you think about it. While I was eating, the fire alarm went off and we were evacuated from the building. Streams of people in PJ's stood outside watching the fire trucks come and then go because of a false alarm. Don't get me wrong, evacuating was the right thing to do but other guests said the alarm had been going off for several days. Finally , this is not the hotel's fault but be aware that this is a pet friendly hotel. The dog in the next room barked incessantly in the early morning while hubby was trying to get in his last bit of sleep before we got back on the road. Nevertheless, we will traveling this route towards the end of summer. We will definitely make the Hyatt place our stopping point for the trip. read more

The view of the blue ridge mountains from the top floor was amazing! The outdoor seating was pleasant and the breakfast tea selection was over the top excellent. I liked the outdoor fire and chairs around it. The pool towels were plentiful. The pool could use a deeper cleaning (better filtering or more pickup of debris) as we encountered some long hairs while swimming. The elevators and hallways were immaculately clean as were the bathrooms. I really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend staying here again. read more

Nice hyattt hotel amongst many hotels in Harrisonburg. This hotel was built within the last two years so everything felt new and renovated. Check in and check out was quick. There is an indoor pool and fitness center. Also a rooftop restaurant with great views of the mountains. Stayed here on our way back from Rhode Island to SC. Quick and easy check-in. Beautiful CLEAN hotel with great views, pet friendly, right off the highway, free breakfast, and a nice restaurant on the 4th floor "The Ridge" with healthy takeout options that is open until 11pm. The bartender offered me Many mocktail options which was appreciated after a long day on the road for this pregnant lady. Will for sure stay here again if we drive to New England again. This hotel l is a disrect to hotels. rip off. My driver dropped a slice of chocolate cake on the bed and the room service reported it as feces. I had my drive go back to speak with the front desk about the accusation. The front desk informed me that the room service stated it was feces on the bed. After speaking to the front desk he stated that he had given it to the general manager. After trying to charge card for 350 dollars. After I notice the hotel trying to charge the other card i spoke with the front desk (Victor) and he stated th Gerenal Manager would be calling to handle this situation. The General Manager was holling and telling me to shut up because of his degrees he has in hospitality and the duvet was more expensive that the hotel purchase that any other duvets. My husband over heard him shouting over the phone and intervent to tell him to stop shouting at his wife. He asked my husband who was he and he informed him that he is my husband and the General manager hung up the phone. I believe my driver was treated that way because he is a black male. Not only did the General manger was rude; according to my drive the guy that service the room came out hollering at him. This is not the first time we have experience this in this area as to how we have been treated. I pray that these people understand that we all God children and should be treated with respect. There are health regulation the hotel would have to follow if there was feces in the room. This is just a scam to charge another fee because my drive was just stoping through due to a breakdown of his vehicle. read more

Checked in on a Sunday afternoon first impression of desk clerks demeanor was unprofessional.... just "what's your last name" no friendly welcome zero people skills...obviously more training is necessary. I guess this hotel is going for the modern "edgy" look, at the front desk, I am fine with the tattoos although some of multiple piercings make me cringe a bit. Then told of the $8 extra charge for breakfast and was given a lousy room with a view of a drainage area, it seems you have to pay more to get a room with a mountain view but was happy they didn't charge me for the air i breathed during my stay. Like many hotels these days the walls are thin and had the misfortune of having a family above me with kids that ran back and forth, sounded like a buffalo herd for hours on end. The walls in the room would actually reverberate from the running above. Had friends staying a few doors down and they were disturbed by the same, just pointing out here the poor construction of this building. The room appeared clean and beds comfortable but with the noise level sleeping is impossible so they cancel each other out. It's just the luck of the draw that you get other guests close by like this but whatever...lol. I would give them another try and hope the negative first impression with staff is corrected. read more

We were in room 426 this last weekend. On 12/16 there was so much noise coming from the adjacent room we couldn't sleep. Not only could we hear distinct voices, we could hear the clattering and reverberations of loud music from 12-3 am. This resulted in no sleep for us. The next day we spoke to several People including Ross and Verns who effusively assured us they would remedy. Well it's 5 am now the next morning and we have been up since 330 with music and tv coming from the next room Inept nite manager on who states he can't do anything and walked away This place might look prettty but if you want a restful night DO Not come here no Joke!!!! read more

We stayed here for my niece's wedding which was held nearby. Since this hotel was opened recently, it was very clean! The rooms were perfect, very spacious, the beds were comfortable, TVs were nice and had plenty of channel options. We didn't get a chance to hang out at the roof top bar or the fire pits, but they looked nice. It was quiet, didn't hear much from the other rooms. The breakfast in the morning was delicious with a lot of options. I recommend staying here! read more

We stayed at the Hyatt place as a part of our Rainbow for Girls annual Grand Assembly that was taking place down the street. When we checked in (four of us) we were warmly greeted by Sierra and Noel. The two of them were so pleasant to work with, quick to check us in and made us feel welcome! Noel even went on a hunt for a luggage trolley (which he found!). In addition to awesome employees, the hotel was spotless, well lit, and beautifully decorated. The room was spacious and had a fridge, coffee pot and even a living room! It felt more like a suite than just a regular hotel room. Loved it! As we were leaving for the night, Sierra and Noel waved to us to have a fun night and complemented our fashion. (We were in formals and suits, so it was wonderful to hear !) Later that evening, we came back and hung out on the patio around the fire pit. There was a ton of outdoor furniture. The hot Breakfast was tasty and one of the best we've had! They even had oat milk for us that can't handle the lactose . The hosts for breakfast, front desk staff and the housekeepers were all so friendly. Best hotel stay we've had in a long time. Thanks for a wonderful stay! read more

This Hyatt Place is brand new and beautiful. The roof top tavern was a great place to eat dinner and have a couple of drinks while enjoying the view. The staff opened the glass sliding doors and it was a great indoor/outdoor experience. The bar tenders were attentive and made great cocktails. We loved the patio and fire pits downstairs too.
