The Hyatt Place is my go-to when traveling between the Northeast and South Carolina. HP offers tremendous value for the money. The food on the rooftop and in the lobby is outstanding. It is so worth traveling an extra hour to stay here. The views are beautiful, the check-in process is easy, and the staff is not only friendly but clearly well-trained. I'll be back again and again!

    Hotel lobby. Love the decor.

We stopped over for one night at the Hyatt to rest up coming home from Washington D.C. The room and bed was very comfortable and the temperature in the room was perfect. While I'm always cold in certain hotel rooms, here surprisingly I was not. The room included amenities such as: coffee machine, tea packets/coffee pods, glasses, ice bucket, and iron. There are also ice machines and microwaves located on floors 2 and 4. I highly recommend their breakfast. You will not leave hungry as they have something for everyone: scrambled eggs, quiche bites, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal, cereal stations and fresh fruit. There is also a coffee and tea station, and the teas are one of my favorites: Tazo. At $8 a person, don't snooze on the breakfast. Also, when we arrived at night, they had the fire pit going in the back of the hotel and it was really relaxing sitting there in our Adirondack chairs. If you're looking for a really comfortable stay with a delicious breakfast buffet, book the Hyatt in Harrisonburg like we did.

We used to go to Harrisonburg regularly for business but haven't been since Covid struck. At that time, the hotels were all needing some love. It's nice to finally have found the sparkling new Hyatt Place - we just wish it had been here for the last 5 years! Although they were a little busy, we were greeted by the friendly staff immediately as we walked in the door. We quickly checked in and went up to our room. It was beautiful - it was a corner room with floor to ceiling windows on two sides that overlooked the mountains (well, it actually overlooked Walmart but the view of the distant mountains was pretty). Our room was sparkling clean and very well appointed. The bed was comfy and the living area spacious enough for a short stay. There is a rooftop bar that made a nice break from our long drive. The staff was friendly and unobtrusive as we sat on the open deck looking at the lights of the town. There were couches and fire pits that would be quite cozy on cool evenings. It really was nice. There were a few problems, however. I was down to breakfast rather early yet the buffet was in serious need of replenishing. There was no silverware nor anyone to ask for some. After some searching, I found a basket in a storage area under a counter and replenished the silverware caddy myself. The main issue I had with breakfast was that there were no serving utensils for the bread drawers. People were reaching in with bare hands grabbing bread, bagels and donut holes. It really was pretty gross if you think about it. While I was eating, the fire alarm went off and we were evacuated from the building. Streams of people in PJ's stood outside watching the fire trucks come and then go because of a false alarm. Don't get me wrong, evacuating was the right thing to do but other guests said the alarm had been going off for several days. Finally , this is not the hotel's fault but be aware that this is a pet friendly hotel. The dog in the next room barked incessantly in the early morning while hubby was trying to get in his last bit of sleep before we got back on the road. Nevertheless, we will traveling this route towards the end of summer. We will definitely make the Hyatt place our stopping point for the trip.

Nice hyattt hotel amongst many hotels in Harrisonburg. This hotel was built within the last two years so everything felt new and renovated. Check in and check out was quick. There is an indoor pool and fitness center. Also a rooftop restaurant with great views of the mountains. Complimentary breakfast in the morning with standard items like eggs, bacon, cereal, and oatmeal. Would return if I come back to the area!

Stayed here on our way back from Rhode Island to SC. Quick and easy check-in. Beautiful CLEAN hotel with great views, pet friendly, right off the highway, free breakfast, and a nice restaurant on the 4th floor "The Ridge" with healthy takeout options that is open until 11pm. The bartender offered me Many mocktail options which was appreciated after a long day on the road for this pregnant lady. Will for sure stay here again if we drive to New England again. Highly recommend. Worth the $200/night.

    2 microwaves on 2nd and 4th floor ... Is this a Hyatt hostel ?

Evening staff are lovely. But accomodations from Hyatt are garbage. I had to hear up my meal on the 4th floor ice room. Our room was on the 5th. I'm perplexed...

The facilities were very nice--exactly what we've come to expect from a Marriott property. What truly stood out, however, was the staff. Our experience started with Amber at check-in. She was professional, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. As our stay continued, we realized that the exceptional service wasn't unique to her--it was reflected in every member of the team we encountered. During our stay, the extreme heat caused a temporary outage of the air conditioning in the hallways. The staff quickly mitigated the issue by placing portable units throughout the halls. As we passed members of the third-floor team, they were proactive in acknowledging the situation, explaining that it was being addressed, and, most importantly, asking if there was anything they could do to make our stay more comfortable. That level of attentiveness and care made a lasting impression. Our stay ended just as it began, with Amber checking us out. She was every bit as friendly, professional, and efficient at check-out as she had been at check-in. We usually stay at another hotel when we visit Harrisonburg, but after this experience, the Fairfield will be our first choice whenever rooms are available. Outstanding job by the entire team--we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Check-in was done online but despite arriving at 9:00 pm we were not assigned a room online. We went to the front desk and were given our room and physical keys. We got to our room and it was VERY warm inside. I immediately went to the wall thermostat and it had a black screen and was clearly not connected. I went to the unit attached to the wall/window and it was set to 70° and it was not 70° in the room. We called the desk and they said they would call maintenance, which they did. He arrived about an hour later and noted it clearly was not cooling. He began to look at the unit and noticed it was on 'fan' and not 'cool'. He had no idea why it was on fan. Fortunately it began to cool. I asked about the wall unit thermostat control and he said that as they began to fail in rooms they were disconnected. Not good. While we were waiting for maintenance the front desk clerk said they were adding 10,000 points to my rewards which I appreciated. When we finally got ready for bed, the pillows were the flimsiest pillows I have ever seen in a Marriott property and we asked for 'real' pillows, which the staff brought up. The pillows they brought up were what the room pillows should have been like. On Saturday we took showers and were shocked that the towels were almost see through with worn tears and rips in them. Again, not consistent with Marriott standards. We were gone for the day and when we got back that night we jumped on the elevator with two other folks before the doors closed - then we all realized - the doors wouldn't close. I went to the front desk to tell the clerk and she said 'yeah, we know' and then went back to using her phone. I asked if they were going to put a sign on it and was told 'we'll get to it'. I told the other guests the response and they were not happy either. We got back to our room and couldn't use any streaming devices because the tv said 'unable to connect to the internet'. We called the front desk and they said they would have someone look at it the next day. We were gone all day on Sunday and when we returned housekeeping had serviced our room which was great - no issues there. The streaming worked fine on the tv so we presumed it was corrected. We were gone most of the day on Monday. When we returned the tv was back to the 'unable to connect to the internet' again. As on Saturday night we couldn't log in to our Netflix, Prime or Pandora accounts - couldn't even get to those screens. We again called the front desk and were again told that someone would check it out the next day and were told they were adding another 10,000 points which was appreciated but it was becoming clear the property had problems and the answer was adding points. A mixed 'solution' We got up Tuesday and I had a folio in my email in-box which surprised me because when I originally booked the reservation on-line it did erroneously (probably my error) indicate a checkout of Tuesday. When I got the email confirmation on March 17, 2025 at 9:17 am I reached out to Marriott and they said I could contact the property directly, which I did on March 17, 2025 at 10:30 am (CST). When I contacted the front desk, I was told they were sold out and we'd have to move to a different room with double beds. I asked to talk to the GM and Franita Tanner (the GM) said that was the case. When I explained what happened on the reservation, she said 'it looks like you booked online' - no kidding - I had just explained all that to her - it was as though she wasn't listening. She confirmed that we would have to move rooms if we wanted to stay. I told her we'd had problems and she said 'I see that' and then went on to essentially say that we were the only guests who had any problems; that the reservation, internet, room AC, pillows, towels, etc. were our issues and nobody else had issues. Wow! I asked her if this property had been given a Marriott waiver from having to 'refresh' their rooms because they were clearly not up to Marriott requirements - she said 'no' Ultimately we opted to stay at another hotel for Tuesday night. Aside from the clerk on her phone and the GM, the staff were all helpful, friendly and polite. The rooms were clearly old - the furnishings were mish-mashed; the only outlets by the bed were one electrical outlet in the lamp on each nightstand - there were no USB chargers anywhere. The pillows, as discussed, needed to be changed out a long time ago. The towels were clearly over-used and should have been replaced. Not sure what the deal is with the internet. We would definitely not return to this property. But for some of the great staff, this would have been a '1-Star' review.

I prefer Marriott properties for all stays but Courtyard is my specific preference for single night stops. I have stayed in Marriotts all over the US and Courtyards in nearly every state east of the Mississippi. The Harrisonburg, VA Courtyard is by far the worst Marriott property I've ever visited and is in contention for worst hotel (or motel for that matter) I've ever seen. We made reservations a month in advance (quick turnaround myth busted), checked in around 9 pm (3 hours after online check-in...in a rush myth again busted), mom/dad, two kids and two dogs after a 12-hour day of travel. The parking lot literally looked like it was staged for a bad horror movie. The letters on the marquee and main building signs that actually worked were barely visible, the lighting & atmosphere in the parking lot screamed 'hand-crafted by criminals seeking lower risk hunting grounds', complete with the token one flickering light in the center lot (not kidding). Our room was just disgusting - damp floors, mold and mildew in the bathroom, dirty/un-flushed toilets, urine stain on the sofa bed mattress, sticky/grimy surfaces, faulty AC...just the works. Visited the front desk, was told there were no replacement sofa mattresses available...was NOT offered any form of an acknowledgement or apology but was offered a different room and a clean (I guess) bedding set. Given the conditions mentioned above, confidence the other room would be in better or different condition was less than high...and if it was, one would immediately wonder why it wasn't assigned to us in the first place. Faced with the choice of uproot wife, kids, dogs & luggage at 10 pm or endure damp, mold, urine and filth, we chose to gut it out as a sleep & go, halfway stop on a long road trip. One can only hope the local bedbugs have enough decency and self-respect to stay in better places than this. Stay tuned for updates there. I don't like absolutes but I can say, with certainty, I will NEVER stay at this property again and truly cannot think of anyone I dislike enough to recommend it to. Sleeping in our car in a random RV lot would have been a more relaxing and enjoyable experience.
