Not gonna lie, I kinda wanted to give this place a 3-star rating because I didn't expect the drinks to be as pricey. I checked the menu on their website, but the prices weren't as cheap when we actually visited in person. They should probably just update their website to avoid other confusion. HOWEVER, the place was still pretty cool, and I would still recommend checking it out if you're in town. Drinks: The drinks were okay. Nothing too crazy or impressive, in my opinion. We still enjoyed them though. I wish I could've tried a few more, but my bill was basically $23 for 2 cocktails. :/ Service: We went on a Saturday night, so there was a period of waiting to get in. After knocking on the door, a bouncer answered and put our names on the list. When spots opened up, he called us to let us in. He was a really nice guy! The bartenders were also very attentive and made our drinks quickly. Atmosphere: Okay, so the novelty aspect of this place is what really earned this speakeasy a 4-star. It was definitely a really cool experience! It was kind of like an adventure finding the place in itself. Hidden behind a locked door, was a cozy, candlelit bar with old-timey couches, vintage wall decor, and free goldfish at each table. Because it's a speakeasy, it's also not crowded, so maybe it'd be a cute date spot!

This place is so much fun. Little pricey but worth it for a special occasion. We went for a friends birthday and really enjoyed it.

Since it is somewhat attached to Billy Jacks, they have a limited food menu to offer as well.

The hotel is clean, modern, and reasonably priced, but honestly, the real highlight is the Ridge Room. After a long day on the road, I really don't want to get back in the car to find dinner, so having a rooftop restaurant just steps from the room is perfect. The mountain views are great, and the farm-to-table menu is always interesting. We've eaten here several times, and it has never disappointed. The food is consistently good, and the bartenders know what they're doing--the drinks are just as solid as the meals. It's one of those places where the menu might not immediately grab you, but once you try the food, it all clicks. Definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to.

I heard great things about this place and was very enthusiastic to visit...however, though the food…read morewas pretty solid the service was quite lacking. I have found the front staff and the wait staff to be lacking in their consideration towards restaurant guests. It seems that they are picking and choosing whom they choose to grant a great experience to. Service: The front staff and waitress we had carried an air of attitude when dealing with me and my family. It seemed like they were not keen to accommodate a few of our basic requests which essentially boiled down to laziness. To be honest, they are very petty when it comes to getting a table on their rooftop...when my family (of 5) came in, they told us it was first come first serve and sat us inside. Another family came in with 3-4 adults and 2 kids after we were seated, to which they promptly moved them outside even though they were inside as well when a spot opened up. I'm not truly understanding the mentality of service here and frankly thought for a nice establishment there would be better decorum and attitude towards guests. Food: overall pretty good. I found the food and drink to be solid. In summary, the food is good here but doesn't surpass the service we received.

We were visiting Harrisonburg for the weekend and after looking on Yelp for a good place to have…read moredinner on a Saturday night, we decided on Capital Ale House. Lots of prom kids and college students filled the place. We were quickly seated in a nice booth and Nate our server helped us with some stout beers. We had a milk stout and a caramel macchiato stout the latter of which was the best. Looking at the menu I have to say it was not your standard ale house fair. It was definitely "elevated" in this regard. We asked to split a 2 soft shell entree with broccolini & seasoned mash, a bowl of crab bisque and a pierogi sampler. We also asked for an extra plate, to which Nate said he would take care of it. When the food arrived it was divided perfectly. Nate had split the bowl of soup into 2 small bowls and he divided the entree and sides onto 2 plates. The soft shell crabs were HUGE, the largest I had ever seen, and crisply fried to perfection. The sides were equally exquisite in their flavor and preparation. The crab bisque was loaded with fresh lump crabmeat and perfectly seasoned. The pirogies were also excellent in flavor and presentation. It was the most satisfying meal I'd had in a while (could be because I was craving soft shells) Needless to say we were very happy with the food in every way and were stuffed as we asked for the check. Nate/Nathaniel really made the experience as he was highly attentive, though caring for many tables, and was quick to take care of our every need. The place was really rocking with customers and everyone there was having a great time. We'll definitely be back and let everyone we know what a top notch establishment Capital Ale House in Harrisonburg is.

My daughter chose shrimp tacos while I went with fish tacos. Both were a nice variation with a hint of cold slaw and a nice late bite spice. Like the atmosphere and location.
