Hotel was great and clean. MOST of the staff were friendly. But that 1 staff member ruined our great experience. I can't remember her name, but she made sure to tell us she's been there since the hotel opened 11 years ago, and is the longest standing employee. I highly recommend you find a job outside of hospitality...I'll start from the beginning of our terrible experience with this worker. We were not aware you need an actual key to exit the parking garage. I was using my phone as a key. Your phone won't open the gate. My husband ran into the lobby to grab a key, and was met with instant attitude. Programming a key is hard work I guess...let's go to Saturday morning. The hotel puts on a beautiful breakfast. My sister in law wanted iced coffee, so she brought a hotel provided cup to the bar and asked for ice. Again, was met with an attitude from the same worker. Was told she can get ice on floors 2,4, and 6. Again, i guess giving a guest some ice is rough work. Sunday she made sure to bring her own bucket of ice down to breakfast. Now let's go to the bar. My in laws went to the bar and asked for a manhattan. Guess who's bartending? Little miss attitude! Instead of nicely explaining the cocktails are premade, and they don't have manhattans, she went on a rant about how she's supposed to run the front desk, make food, and drinks, and coffee, and do it all herself. In my opinion, this lady should not be the face of your hotel. Doing her job is too much to ask from her. She ruined our experience, and next time we come to Lansing, we will look for a different hotel where we don't feel like a nuisance to someone that's supposed to be hospitable to your guests. The hotel is very nice. My room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. They offer hot breakfast which was such a treat since most places it's cereal or a muffin. On my visit the breakfast line was very busy. I think they had a soccer team staying so all the players were there but the staff was working hard to make sure the food and plates and such were stocked up. The only inconvenience was that 1 elevator was working so it took some Time to wait on it. They do have stairs but depending on what floor your are On and how much luggage you have that may not be feasible for you. So just have a little Extra patience and you will be fine. The staff were warm and welcoming at this Hyatt Place. This hotel has the standard Hyatt Place layout and breakfast. It also was in good shape. The breakfast is the standard Hyatt breakfast which gives you some options. There is parking for ten bucks which is plentiful. There are many nearby chain restaurants and it's about 15 minutes to MSU and the downtown capital. read more

A beautiful new hotel with a mazing staff. This hotel is well run and is well taken care of. As a a Hyatt Globalist I have been to Hyatts all over the world and this ranks high in the Hyatt place line. I have been their twice and the second time I arrived they remembered us as we arrived. The breakfast is the standard Hyatt Place breakfast but they have staff out and about filling your coffee and clearing your tables giving that extra touch. Staying at a Hyatt Place in another town I was talking to the staff and they mentioned visiting also and how great their stay was. Its a gem and a standard for other Hyatt Places to live up to. read more

I checked in this place for a business week with my company. The check in was very simple. I got a chance to look around and saw some couches and a section with computers as well. Everything was organized and clean. The eating area was quite massive, with a lot of seats. I got on the elevator and entered my room. It smelled like a freshly cleaned room. There was a seating area with couches and a table. There was also two beds freshly made. The room came with a desk so I could complete my work at the hotel. I loved that they had a nice longn dresser which included an iron board and iron. The other dresser had a TV above it. Everything was clean. I thought the glassdoor was interesting and unique. They hve fresh towels and shampoo/conditioner/soap samples. They cleaned our room every day. They did forget to restock the tiny samples of shampoo and conditioner, but the issue was resolved when I asked the front desk. They were kind enough to give me a handful and apologized. They assured me the mistake would not happen again. It did not happen again, which was awesome. I did notice small anounts of dust on the desk chair and lamps, which is not a big deal. I did try the breakfast one day. I chose crispy pieces of bacon and they were delicious. I also got some of the yogurt and added fruit and oats. They had different kinds to choose from. It all tasted fresh. I loved the cute juice dispensers. I did not get a chance to eat again, as I had limited time. The seating area was nice and a lovely gentleman would clean the tables once someone left. I checked out the gym and pool, but did not have a chance to use either. Nice, new and clean Hyatt Place. My room was spacious and tidy. They feature free breakfast too. This Hyatt is on the edge of a new shopping mall too. On check in I was helped by Chloe on the front desk. Chloe is super friendly and helpful. She has outstanding customer service skills and was a pleasure to check in with. As a Globalist it is outstanding staff like Chloe that keep me coming back to Hyatt. Highly recommend. read more

Family of 4 traveling from out of state (2 Adults, 2 kids), we choose this hotel because it was a middle spot between the areas we were visiting and it had a pool. Well the pool was not open due to Covid. We understand each state, city and business has different rules for operation. Just wished it was stated on the website that it was closed. The room was nice. We loved that there was a ton a outlets in the room so we all could have our devices charging at once. She shower was huge, beds comfortable and we had a great view from our room. We were even able to enjoy a fireworks show from our window one night. The rooms were insulated well. We had no issues with noise. With kids sports teams and wedding parties, there was no issue with noise. Breakfast was great, plenty of choices, and the "main" hot meal changed each day. read more

This hotel is newer and located near the Eastwood Towne center, an outdoor shopping mall. The room was spacious and had a king bed and a pull-out couch in a small lounge area. The whole room was clean and cozy. The bathroom had a shower with a clear glass door, and the door to the bathroom was a frosted glass sliding door. Neither offer much privacy, something to keep in mind if you're staying there with friends or a group of people. The decor is understated and modern, and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in my entire life. There was a small fridge, which was really great. They offer free breakfast which includes scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, toast, fruit, yogurt, donuts, coffee, juices and tea. The dining area is open and airy, and makes you feel like you're dining in someone's house. I loved it. The attached parking garage is accessible from the hotel, so you don't have to go outside to get to your car - very nice when it's not so nice out! It was a bit confusing to get through to the parking garage at first (you go through a door that reads "this is not an exit"), but once we figured it out we were all set! The amenities throughout the hotel are fantastic, including free wi-fi during your stay, a small work area with 3 computers for guest use (including 1 iMac), free wireless printing throughout the hotel, a bar, a small deli area with snacks and prepared foods to buy, pool, gym, and free parking. The branding throughout the hotel (signage, brochures, etc.) is consistent and fun. I absolutely loved staying at this Hyatt - the only downside of the room we were in was the proximity to the elevator. The elevators have a very loud dinging when stopping at each floor, that could be heard from our room. Overall though, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and absolutely stay here again! It's a fantastic hotel for the price we paid. read more

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I don't usually take the time out to write bad reviews but I want to be able to help others from making the same mistake in choosing the Hyatt for any stay. I recently moved away from Lansing and decided to plan a trip back for my daughters birthday. My reservation was made on March 22nd, 2023 to check in on March 25th and check out March 26th. To book my reservation I used a third party site called Expedia, which I also DO NOT RECOMMEND! When I booked the hotel they have a "Pay now" option and a "Pay when you stay" option that states "You will not be charged until your stay. Pay at the property." There is also a message that is labeled "IMPORTANT:" that reads "travel insurance may provide coverage for COVID-19 diagnosed illness. Up to 100% hotel reimbursement if you're sick and have a late cancellation, ect." To add this protection it is $4.50 a person and I was charged $9 total. This fee was taken immediately. On the night of March 23rd, my daughter caught coved so we were no longer able to travel back to Lansing. I contacted the hotel to try to cancel the reservation on March 24th and when she asked me the reason I told her we were no longer able to travel back so I couldn't physically be there. She said due to their policy I would have had to cancel the reservation on March 23rd at 3:00pm even though I have an email stating WITHOUT the insurance I paid for I have up until 11:59pm to cancel which is also listed on their website. Nor here or there it is not pass that time frame BUT I paid for insurance so I should be covered right? I explained to the woman on the phone that I had insurance and she said I would need to call Expedia since the insurance was purchased through them. Totally understandable. I call Expedia and they tell me that they never approved my stay and it was still "pending" on their end so it shouldn't be a problem canceling. They contact the hotel and then tell me its actually up to the hotel to decide if they want to honor my cancellation or not. I explain to her that I was traveling to Lansing with my boyfriend and our daughter and we had to cancel the flight due to my daughter having Covid. She's now asking me for the flight information which I didn't have due to my boyfriend booking the flight and I booked the hotel. MY boyfriend is a truck driver who cant be on his phone while on the road so there was no way for me to get this information at the time. She proceeds to tell me that without the flight information there is nothing that they can do for me and my situation. At this point I'm confused on what the insurance I paid for actually covers, even though it states exactly what it covers when booking, INCLUDING COVID. She gives me until 6pm to try to give her the information. Its now 4:55pm and I have yet to get in touch with my boyfriend so I give the hotel a call back asking if there was anyway I could switch the dates instead of canceling so that my money is not completely wasted. The new person on the phone assures me that it is not necessary to provide the flight information to cancel the reservation after explaining to her the situation. She then looks up the reservation by name and see's there are notes saying they "want" the flight information to cancel so she takes away her previous statement and places me on a 20 minute hold without checking in periodically. I hang up and call right back thinking I was forgot about and she tells me people came into the hotel that she had to check in which is why she didn't return to the phone call for 20 MINUTES and immediately places me on another hold. She then tells me that since there are notes attached to the reservation she can not help me without a manager and I should call back tomorrow, March 25th ( the day of my reservation) to see if someone will be available then to make changes to the account. I tell her I understand that information was needed to CANCEL the reservation but I'm now asking to just change the dates. I can provide a positive Covid test! She's now growing impatient with me and rushing me off the phone so I ask for a managers number and she gives me a number to a managers direct line along with his name just to find out its literally just the hotels number I just called. Before I called to cancel the reservation at all, I checked my bank account to make sure the payment hadn't been processed yet since I booked with the "pay when you stay" option. Which it hadn't, but while I was actively on the phone with them trying to figure out if I could cancel they went ahead and processed the payment in full 24 hours before it was even due. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! I will be contacting my bank to dispute the charge and provide proof of the Covid test and that I was not present for this reservation. read more

Nice hotel at this price point and I especially liked the layout of the room. I was here on business so I appreciated the location and especially the breakfast which was included in the room rate. There were three hot items, cereal, sliced bread, english muffins, and fruit among other things. The coffee and tea is in the next room. As for parking, we were surprised to see such a small lot out front but there is direct access to the parking structure behind the hotel. The only issue we had was the mini-fridge. We came home from dinner one night with a box of leftovers and when I opened the fridge I realized it was not even on. When I moved it forward to plug it into the outlet behind, some smelly water spilled out of it.. blegh. Not a big deal, but it was a bit of a gross surprise. read more

Not a bad hotel overall, but very disappointed a lost item hasn't shown up yet. I've stayed at this property 5 times in the past 8 months and usually it's fine. This time, after I left I realized I may have left behind a few garments in the drawers, and have talked to the hotel twice, only to find that nothing has been retrieved. I'm surprised and disappointed. Either housekeeping missed it, or another guest didn't turn it in. Sad, because otherwise I've enjoyed staying here. read more

I was very disappointed with my stay at Hyatt Place Lansing. I stayed one night in a double queen room. I paid $150 and had higher expectations with it being Hyatt and a newer hotel. One light did not work in the room. The carpet was frayed and pulling up. The direct tv cable kept going in and out. The hotel room information book was not readable as a kid scribbled and doodled all over it. There were scuffs all over the walls. The cups were dirty. I went to take a shower and noticed there wasn't a hair dryer. So I called downstairs and requested one and the front desk lady acted surprised there wasn't one In the room and said she would bring a hair dryer right up. Minutes turned in to hours and she never came. It didn't end there. The room was not thoroughly cleaned as I found hairs in the toilet and a small red stain on the comforter of one bed. I was disgusted. Luckily there was a second bed that had clean bedding and I was too tired to bother with trying to change rooms as I had no luck when I called the front desk earlier. The only reason I'm giving this hotel 2 stars in because the breakfast was good- large variety. However, I would not recommend anyone stay here and I doubt I will stay at any Hyatt again. read more

What can I say, Hyatt Place hotels are pretty standard which is one of the reasons we stay at them. You know what to expect: comfy bed and pillows, fridge in room, decent size TV, breakfast depends on the day of the week. Seems like breakfast during the week is more interesting than on the weekend. None of the hot choices appealed to me (gray sausages, dry scrambled eggs, pancakes). Now the oatmeal...that's another story. I've never seen so many goodies to put on the hot oatmeal. I chose brown sugar, cranberries, almonds, pecans and granola. They also had coconut, apricots, honey and more. There was a large bowl of vanilla yogurt and I also had a bowl of yogurt with fresh blueberries (the kind that snap when you bite them) and pineapple chunks. Yum! read more

Second stay here for work (nearby). First was just ok but very loud (room in back and noise/fighting? from parking garage) all night. Second trip, after a 5 hour drive, they had no room for me. Given many different "reasons"; dirty room and computer error. I asked if they overbooked hotel and was told computer error (they had a valid credit card and reservation.) Quickly offered to call nearby Courtyard and asked them if they could take "another one" right in front of me... So much for customer service to be referred to as "another one" and so much for computer error. No offer to have anyone call to explain situation or remotely apologize.. Clerk just stared at me.......On my way to Courtyard I called to cancel my reservation for following week at same Hyatt. Clerk told me she'd transfer me to reservation dept. Are you kidding me? I must say, I am very disappointed in this place. First, there isn't a hot tub. I found this was the case for all Hyatt's during this stay, but disappointing nonetheless. Second, I asked the front desk to assure my room is not cleaned during the day (I stayed two nights). I came back to find they in fact cleaned my room. Mostly a principle complaint there. Third, the continental breakfast is PATHETIC! Cereal, weird eggs w peppers or something, bread, milk, and juice. That's it. Even a bagel option would've helped. Lastly, garage parking doesn't take you to your floor. No. You have to take the elevator down to the first floor, walk around the lobby, then an elevator back up to your floor. Nonsense. Unfortunately, although these are subtly small things, they all added up. I won't be visiting a Hyatt again. read more

The hotel itself is great! We decided on a whim to spend a night there, even though we are local, to celebrate our anniversary. You can tell that it's newer and that the employees are fairly novice in customer service, comparing to our experiences with hotels like Hilton and Marriotts and we expected Hyatt to be on that scale. The hotel, walking through the door, is stylish and upscale. Check-in was a breeze, despite us arriving a bit late, since we waiting until after Dinner. We mentioned during making the reservation that it was our anniversary, and that wasn't acknowledged, something the other chains would, and have, done in the past. We got our keys and headed to our room. After settling into our room with separated bedroom, dining area and living room as well as 3 nice TVs we noticed there were a half dozen dead flies on the floor by the door, a little weird, a little gross. It was late, we were all settled in and decided to just ignore it, we just felt that you would think they would check the rooms occasionally if they sit for a while. We ordered "room service" which you have to go down and get, and although it was okay, it felt a bit overpriced. The peanut butter cookie was amazing though! When we were getting ready to check-out, we passed a member of the cleaning crew in the hall, and mentioned the flies, and she didn't even acknowledge us. When we went down to the desk to turn in the keys, we at least got a "eww, that gross" kind of response. All and all, if we are ever in need of a place to stay in Lansing, we will defiantly give Hyatt consideration and hopefully the staff matures over time. read more

A two-night stay. On Night 1, TV froze repeatedly, to the point where we had to quit watching. Desk person came up, reprogrammed the Direct TV, no improvement. She apologized, said the manager would contact us to provide some extra points for our Hyatt account to compensate for our inconvenience. (Trying to call the front desk to report the problem, I learned the phone handset was dead. She confirmed this, apologized again.) Annoying problems, but not the end of the world. Returning to the room for the second night of our stay, we found that the cleaning person did an excellent job of picking up the tip, but neglected to clean the toilet; wipe the bathroom counter; leave soap, shampoo, conditioner or toilet paper; or fill the empty tissue dispenser. There were new towels and the bed was made, so we know someone had been in there; just didn't seem to think it was important to do the whole job. (I had seen two or three reviews critical of the housekeeping staff prior to making the reservation at this hotel, so I called the hotel prior to making the reservation to ask if they were aware of the problems guests were having and to ask if corrective measures had been taken. I was assured that, yes, while there were some new employees on the cleaning staff, all had been trained to Hyatt's high standards. But the problems clearly are chronic, and continue.) Had to go down to the front desk and get shampoo, etc. Informed desk clerk of the cleaning issue, and again mentioned the TV problem (which continued, with somewhat less severity, for part of Night 2 and then mysteriously dissappeared) and the still-dead phone. Desk clerk apoligized, again said the general manager would contact me the next day. (This paragraph, which said there had been no contact from the general manager, has been amended. I was contacted after responding to the follow-up Hyatt e-mail requesting feedback, and I did receive some compensatory Hyatt points.) On the upside: cheerful desk staff, good breakfast, good bed, pleasant new Hyatt design, convenient to Michigan State. Should be a good place to stay if housekeeping problems are corrected. But right now you're taking your chances. I'm reluctant to return to this hotel because I have no confidence it will be properly cleaned. The manager's response to me indicated that the housekeeping problems would be addressed. read more

This past weekend my boyfriend and I were gifted with a free stay at this hotel. Perfect for a couples staycation obvi. For an impromptu trip, I'd say this snazzy hotel did not disappoint. Everything was clean, new, and updated. Only downfall was the horrendous smell in the hallway and elevators. I swear it smelt as if someone was non stop ripping ass. I'm truly concerned as to how an establishment could smell this stinky. Besides the atrocious smell, it was quite a pleasant experience. Plus they had continental breakfast with almond milk so my dairy-free self was pleased. Overall, cute hotel that needs some febreze ASAP! read more

A very clean and pleasant hotel, well designed and appointed. Have stayed several times with family of 4 and everything has been great. Would give it 5 stars if the complimentary breakfast had healthier and more authentic offerings. For instance, pancakes and muffins are box or worse, very dry and sausage is the frozen box variety. Need more fruit selections and perhaps some warm egg wraps. Coffee is good! There are some delicious sandwich and baked goods, but they are for purchase. read more

There are restaurants, taverns and shopping within A minute drive or 7 minute walk. There is a large theatre across the parking lot. The absolute worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I called for a friend to make room blocks for her wedding weekend, should've been pretty simple, right? Not so much. I called, got no answer, called again left another message and still no answer. I called a third time a couple days later and asked for a manager who transferred me to Shawna, the person who apparently takes care of this. I gave her all our info and she said she would get back to me within the next couple of days. I never heard anything back from her so I called again. She told me she was sorry and just got really busy and that she would have it to me by the end of the day. Never got it. So I called AGAIN. She said she was really sorry, got stuck at the office late and would get the contract to me by the end of that day. Still, nothing. Then finally after an email to someone else named Tyler, I got the contract a couple days later. The names were spelled wrong, the rooms were incorrect and I wasn't even surprised. They told me they had been having a lot of changes around the hotel and this was the reason for the mistakes. I could go on and on, long story short, book somewhere else. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the hotel is really nice, clean, and the rooms were super spacious. read more

The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. The breakfast was complimentary and tasted good. The breakfast could use a little more fruit and less bread. Also, guests had to keep telling the food prep people that the coffee was out, or the napkin holders were empty. Parking is semi-convenient but free. There are about 8 spaces directly in front of the hotel. If full, guests park in the parking garage next door or across the street in the parking lot of the shopping center. The room was quiet. On the downside: Attention to detail was not obvious, which I believe is a mark of any good service. The bolt lock on my door did not work and I was told that maintenance would look at it on Monday - the day I was checking out! The toilet seat was also unhinged on one side. A large piece of paper remained on the carpet in my hallway for two days. It's nice to have the bar downstairs but of the 3 nights I was there, the last two nights the bar was out of vodka and olives. I know there was a wedding group staying there but if that caused the vodka shortage, plan ahead! Attention to detail. read more

The room was nice and new however, the bathroom door was a little too new and kept getting stuck. I have never been trapped in a hotel bathroom before so that was a first. The staff was very friendly. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed at that does not have room service. You can call down and order food but you have to come and get it yourself. The hotel bar if that's what you call it is not a full bar and the bartender couldn't make a martini. The last complaint I have is that during our two day stay we did not get out room cleaned. When I asked about it they just said "we don't do that" if you need anything they would bring it to you like clean towels ect... This was also a first for me! If you just want a nice new hotel located in a convenient location this would be it. Get your food and drinks elsewhere, don't shut the bathroom door and don't expect housekeeping to come knocking on your door! read more
