Poor service during my stay JAN 27-30, 2020. My room was not cleaned the entire time I was there. I was out of the rooom early and would return late att night. Very little empathy, apology, and no corrected action. Night one I called the front desk and they offered to send someone to my room to clean. No, thank you it has been a long day. She assured me it would be cleaned the next day. I even went to the front desk after day 1 and asked the gentlemen to please make sure my room was cleaned and have someone look at the heater because it seemed like it wasn't working. Well, the room was not cleaned again. After a long day and getting to my room after 8pm, I went to the front desk to talk to someone. The girl at the front desk was busy at the bar. After a 10 min wait along with other customers, I got the same insensitive feedback. "Sorry, I'll have someone clean it now". I declined, I had a long day and asked for a manager to call me. She advised me Mark would call, but never asked for a number to call. Once I offered it to her she took it down. I know they took my request to clean my room and know that my do not disturb sign was not up. The maintenance team came and looked at the heater and left a note. No call from the manager. I think I would travel to Mesa again just to stay in this hotel! Of all my hotel stays, this is one of my top. The room is a great size, comfortable bed, large vanity separate from toilet and bath, and I loved how the main room had a divider so I could keep the windows open (for light) but my eyes would be shielded so I could watch the tv without my blinding my peripheral vision. Unlike other places, the mini fridge didn't make noise and the fan barely made noise so I wasn't kept awake from it. The staff were incredibly nice and my room was clean by the time I returned each evening. The area around the hotel was manicured and included Chick fil A and a movie theater. If you travel into Mesa, not by freeway, it is a little sketchy of an area and I wouldn't drive around at night BUT the A's stadium closeby made up for the sketchiness. This is probably the cleanest place you will find in this area of town. The service is very friendly and the room was very clean and updated. The price is also right. That is all I needed. The only issue I had was that there was a bar but no bartender that could make me a martini. One of the front desk people made it after looking it up on his phone. Just stick to beer and wine. Couldn't be happier with everything here starting with the lovely welcome at check in and helpful info provided. Every staff member here has greeted us and been very polite across the board. The room is very clean, doesn't smell, and the attention to guest comfort is evident, we even had an extra larger trash bag left in case we needed it. Nothing in the room looks worn, damaged, or less than nice. Breakfast is good, somewhat limited options but everything is fresh and the staff was attentive to cleaning up and replenishing items as needed. I booked a room months in advance for $99/night. The day before arrival I checked the Hyatt website and found that they were offering the exact room that I booked for $71 / night. I immediately called and spoke with "Beverly". She told me that she didn't have time to look at the website but that she would "look into it" and call me back. Bev called back 35 minutes later and said she now had time to look at the website but now the price was showing at $98/night. What a coincidence. She told me that the rate manager is always going onto the website and changing the price. She refused to give me the room for the $71 rate that had been posted when I originally called. This hotel has definitely met my expectations. The room is as described and as the pictures show online. There's a large couch and seating area and a very comfy king bed, with soft pillows and clean linens. The room has a small fridge, a microwave and a coffee maker. For breakfast the hotel is doing a "grab and go" setup with yogurt, fruit and juice and coffee. There's always some kind of hot item like oatmeal or a breakfast biscuit. Cereal is also always available. The front desk staff are very helpful with recommendations for food and things to do in the Mesa / Tempe area. They are happy to give more towels or cups or whatever you need, since their cleaning routine has been shifted due to COVID. The pool area is clean and well maintained with stocked towels and plenty of sun and shade spots and long chairs. The pool is heated so even if the weather is a bit cold for swimming you can get in without being too frozen. This place was more affordable than other 3 star options in the area, and I'm glad I booked here. It's a great value and I can see myself coming back for the convenience and value. read more

I had a reservation at this hotel for July 13-15. Prior to leaving home in Raleigh, the worthless Frontier Airlines cancelled my flight to AZ and couldn't get me another one. Once I learned my flight was cancelled I called the Hyatt and advised them I would not be staying with them. Since I booked thru Expedia, I had to try to get a refund thru them. I was advised that since I was a no-show(due to no fault of mine) I would not get a refund. Loud noisy room fan and specifically ask not to be placed near elevator but I was placed near one and top it off near the commercial centralized cooling/heating fan of building. Refrigerator was not on, had to turn to cool. Not any of bath supplies was filled (cond, shampoo and gel) had to request at front desk. Not enough towel hanging hook and the sink was too high. Window shades are ripped. I don't thing the room layout are functional and we'll thought out. I completely was turned off by continental breakfast, staffs seems to be in a hurry to clean up, improperly place eating supply on wrong areas for cup does not go with fruits, etc. and am not sure if they don't eat before going to work bc I can see staffs eating leftovers through the kitchen window , It's ok to eat after guests but do it behinds where guests don't see you. Just not professional and especially food inspection and medical professionals are guests. We have high standards for sanitation. I give you a two bc of staffs friendliness and location. read more

Pros: The grounds of this place are nice. The pool is heated. The putting green is a nice touch. The rooms are decently sized, and the cleaning staff was very friendly/hardworking. Cons: The lights by the pool at night extremely obnoxious. It is very peaceful to sit out by the pool at night, however the lights make me feel like I'm at a rave. It rotates from blue to green to red to pink! So annoying. The staff is pretty rude about it, too. When we asked about it the girl said that it added "ambiance" ha! If I wanted to sit by a pool and have lights flashing all around me, I would get a room in Vegas or Old Town! It got so bad that we had to leave the pool and go hang out in the room, which is a major buzzkill when it's 75 and perfect outside! This isn't the Hyatt Bar and Nightclub, it's Hyatt Place. We checked in to this hotel for a bowling tournament that is going on this weekend and I have to say that when we come back that this is going to be the hotel we stay at always! You get two free bottles of water every day of your stay and you get free breakfast. The pool and putting green are very nice. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! We actually liked it so much we extended our visit one more stay. The breakfast was outstanding and the pool beautiful. The extra day was where they lost a star, we were able to keep our same room which was nice but they forgot to clean our room and so no towels or toiletries were brought in and garbage wasn't taken out. When we got back to room it was around 6 pm and we called for towels and they never brought them. We went to the desk to pick them up around 8 pm. The staff was pleasant, the beds were ok, and there was plenty of parking. Would definitely stay here again. read more

This was my first time staying at a Hyatt and I couldn't be happier with my experience. This is also why I love Yelp so much... the reviews are almost always accurate, so I knew that my stay will be just as expected! First off, one of the best continental breakfasts I've ever had at a hotel. There's everything for everyone with a very nice kitchen/seating area. There's oatmeal with 6 or so toppings to choose from, all kinds of cereal, a rotation of waffles, pancakes, and french toast, egg sandwiches, three or four juices to choose from, and bagels and such. Secondly, an incredible staff that goes beyond and above to make sure your stay is perfect. My personal story that I just need to share - like the idiot I can be at times, I left my expensive camera/camera bag on the lobby floor when I was checking in. Obviously, I didn't realize that I was missing my camera until the second day, and after running around like a crazy person to our car and back to our room, I nervously came up to the front desk and asked if anyone found a camera from the day before. Not only did it not get stolen, the young man working at the front desk at that time, was incredibly happy to give it back to me and even said "I love seeing people's reactions" after a situation similar to mine. I wish I had his name, but he was genially happy to give me my camera back and you have no idea how great that feels for once... Nice location too... plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Spacious hotel, nice heated swimming pool and hot tub though we didn't get a chance to check them out. I would mostly definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Phoenix area. read more

We had nothing but great interactions with the staff here! They were all so incredibly nice and helpful, especially the front desk! The room was huge, we had plenty of room for the three of us. Everything was very clean and they were quick to drop off the things we requested when we needed new towels. Got a great deal on points here to spent the night after a long day of driving from El Paso. It was spring training and there were a lot of baseball fans staying at the hotel (they even offered a free shuttle to the games). The hotel is a pretty standard Hyatt Place, so nothing super noteworthy, though the location is pretty good as there are at least 15+ eateries within a 10 minute walk (or two minute drive). I'm not sure if I have any reason or plans to be back in the Mesa area again anytime soon, but if so, I'd definitely consider staying here. read more

Rude front desk woman. I waited 24 hours to write my review. I wanted to gather my thoughts and make sure I was not in a bad mood that day, having to drive 3 hrs for work meetings I didn't particularly want to attend, etc. As I reflect on my experience at Hyatt the more I felt I need to write this review. When I arrived at this hotel I walked to the front desk. There was an elderly white woman with grey/blonde straight hair in a short bob cut. I explained I was checking in, told her my name, and she stated she was having trouble finding me on the computer. I explained some one else had already checked into the room. So it might be in a different area on the computer. No response. She continued to click away on the computer. During this time, the person I was sharing the room with, sent me the room number via text. I said to the clerk, " oh hey she just sent me the room number, its 321. Im just going to go head up." The clerk made me wait while she called to verify that I was allowed to come up. Did she think I was lying? This may all not seem like a big deal, but when you add no eye contact, no explanation of why or what her process was, she never really talked directly to me just at me... I am in customer service. A quick, "Hey I have to ring her room and verify, I'm sorry but its Hotel Policy..." Or something to that effect would have been sufficed. Any eye contact other than the first semi-sincere greeting would of been cool. It was embarrassing and upsetting and made me wonder if it was bc I'm not white. The next morning she seemed to be getting on well with other guests and co workers, was it just me that she had a problem with? The gentleman that was standing next to her smiled and waved when I left, nothing from her. Also, I found a carpet beetle on the bed the next day. They are a highly invasive species and like to hitch hike similar to bedbugs and lice. My stuff is still in the car, my bf is going to treat the car and my clothes so we do not track anything in. This was my first stay at the Hyatt Place Mesa and can honestly say it was a really pleasant experience. I usually stay pretty close to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport for the convenience, but decided to venture out and stumbled on this place during my last business trip to the Phoenix area (June 2009). Based on how clean the lobby, hallways, elevators and room were, this hotel has to be relatively new. Front desk staff was quick in greeting and even quicker in check-in. I was put in a king size bed room on the 3rd floor. You really notice how clean the place is when you first walk into the rooms. When you walk in, to the left is a small wet bar with mini-fridge, sink and a coffee maker that makes individual cups of coffee. Unlike most hotels, they Hyatt Place doesn't fill the mini-fridge with ridiculously priced mini-bottles of booze or M&Ms...the mini-fridge is empty and is there soley for guest use. Next is a small desk that sits across from a living room area with a sectional couch with an ottoman to toss your feet up on. Of course, every room as a 42" flat panel HDTV with HBO and some other HDTV channels. The bathroom set up is a little weird in that the sink is outside of the bathroom, and the bathroom only contains a toilet and shower/bath...which may be crowded for a family of 4, but is perfectly fine for the lone business traveler. They provide you with the typical Hyatt Portico Spa brand toilettries. The bed was comfortable and the temperature of the room is controlled via a digital keypad. The fitness center is relatively small, but has enough cardio equipment to squeeze a run in...besides, it's not the brightest idea to run outside in the Phoenix heat in June. This is not a 5 star hotel by any means, but it is not meant to be. It's utilitarian for the business or leisure traveler. Plus, I always think it's funny that a lot of the higher-end hotels that I stay at while on vacation routinely charge you for Wi-Fi/Internet access and never give you a free breakfast...but both are offered gratis at the Hyatt Place. So kudos to Hyatt Place for accomodating the business traveler. The hotel was pretty empty during my stay, which leads to the only downfall of the Hyatt Place Mesa. This hotel is about 20 minutes away from the airport and is tucked behind the gigantic Bass Pro Shop and Mall right off the 202 highway, so you pretty much need a car to get to anything around the area. It is a little off the beaten path, but what you get in return makes up for that. Plus, being this far away from the airport, you never hear the roar of those annoying airplanes. Friendly staff, prompt check-in, free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, free parking, business center, comfortable rooms that are very, very clean, and a 42" flat panel when you just need to kick back after a busy day and unwind by squeezing in a little ESPN Sportscenter before bed. I've stayed at two other Hyatt Place before and have loved my stays, so I was excited to stay at the Hyatt Place in Mesa, AZ. To my disappointment and surprise, I got a room in the back corner on the floor and it looked nothing like any of the Hyatt Place rooms (or room photos on the website) I've stayed in. The couch/"living area" was directly in front of the bed, taking away the separation within the room for some private work space, and everything felt cramped in the room. It really made my stay less than ideal. ADVICE: Make sure you request to NOT be placed in the corner rooms; and if you walk into one where the couch directly faces the bed vs. being in another area, you got the lemon! Aside from getting the worst room on the property, the hotel/room was clean and modern. Breakfast included some hot items and ran from 7-10am. The property is easily accessed via the 202 freeway. This hotel is awesome! Stayed here for a wedding, rate of $85/night. Included comp breakfast, free wifi, awesome pool, apples in the afternoon, free internet workstations, 24 hr Starbucks, friendly staff, free golfcart transportation to the shopping areas nearby. The rooms were awes, clean, well decorated. Love it! Will def stay here again. I even used the gym which while small, has excellent equipment. If you really want a more fancier one, they have a deal for $10 you can go to the local 24 hour fitness. read more

Stayed here over night to run the Rock and Roll Marathon. Don't leave your personal belongings in the room. My iphone fell out of my gym bag when I was checking out. After lunch I went back to the room only to notice that the Chamber Maid took her room cleaning tip but yet left the room in untidy. Doesn't make sense to me why someone would enter the room without any intentions of cleaning it unless she went to stash my cell phone in her car. Reported the matter to the cleaning room manger. After leaving the manger a voicmail the following day (to see if my phone ever turned up). He never returned my call, poor customer service! Front desk always seemed to be understaff as well, found ourselves having to wait around for them to get off the phone and help other people. And don't bother asking if they shuttle service if you plan running in any marathons, you wouldn't want to inconvience them. read more

Sometimes Hyatt is fine, and then it's not, probably because they have different brands depending on the market they're trying to compete. So when you think Hyatt don't assume Grand or Suites because you just might end up in a hotel. I believe the franchisor should be paying attention to continuity of service, and expectations from franchisees because as adaptable as I can be to a very 'family friendly' location this was a bust. The bed was very uncomfortable; there was no room service, if you order food then you get to walk to the front desk and pick it up. The food was not good so that mistake was only made once. The air conditioning in our room broke which is problematic in Arizona even in November, and there wasn't another room, so we had to wait for their mechanic, the manager asked if she could get us anything so I asked for two bottles of water but that took two reminders and another hour. This location needs general cleaning and updating, but what bothered me more than anything was at 3:30 a.m. at checkout with a flight to catch the clerk said he couldn't produce room charges because I had booked my trip through a third party. You know when you go to kayak.com and purchase your airfare, car, and hotel together, that was the third party. I felt penalized for having used that service, are dark forces at play? Why couldn't the clerk produce a record of my additional room charges, and what position am I left in at 3:30 a.m. to argue. Now that I'm home I intend to look into it, and since I use American Express, I do have some recourse if there's an issue. For now, I'm going to assume the best and look for the rest! Staff is apathetic as best. WiFi was out the entire trip, no employees seem to care. Also, AC unit is overly complex with Home/Away/Sleep mode, timers, and about a dozen buttons. This is my employer's choice hotel because it's close to the office we have out in Tempe and I had a great experience on my recent stay here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast downstairs is much better than most places. More than just pastries. They've got breakfast sandwiches, lots of fruit, oatmeal, muffins, cereal, juice, and delicious coffee. The king room was very spacious and comfortable. I never heard other guests and judging by the parking lot, the hotel was pretty full. I'll definitely be staying here again in the future! read more

Recently we had the opportunity to cover the Hyatt Place Phoenix/Mesa hotel. The hotel is located in the Mesa Riverview Shopping Center which provides guests with tons of shopping, dining and entertainment options such as the Cinemark Cinemas and Toby Keith's I love This Bar and Grill. The hotel is very warm and inviting and this was evident from the very speedy check in and our room which was available to us almost 90 minutes earlier than the anticipated 3:00 PM check in time. Our room was a spacious suite that came with a king sized bed which overlooked the pool area. A large and comfy couch with an Ottoman and partial divider divided the suite which also featured a work desk, free Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, and coffee maker. A 42 inch flat screen television was a nice touch and having 41 stations including HBO gave us plenty of viewing options. The hotel also offered first run movies, adult and family movies, as well as music and on demand entertainment options for an additional fee. The entertainment console also had a connection area where guests could connect their gaming consoles, laptops, and projectors to the television should they wish to play games, watch movies, or make a presentation in their room. The staff was very helpful and friendly and not only answered our questions and addressed our needs whenever they arose, but also engaged us and other quests in conversations during our stay. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast which included milk, juice, coffee, tea, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, French Toast, cereals, yogurts, fruit, and breads, as well as some very good oatmeal. The hotel also has a nice assortment of salads, snacks, sandwiches, and drinks that are available from their Gran and Go area, and quests can enjoy a range of drinks, sandwiches, appetizers, and other options 24/7 from the Gallery Menu. The hotel offers free papers during the week, and for guests on the go, a selection of sundries such as toothpaste, razors and other toiletries are available free of charge. The pool area is very enjoyable as not only does it have a pool and Jacuzzi, but there is a big screen television that retracts allowing guests to cool off in the pool and still watch the big games. At night the area comes alive in a light show as the pool area is decorated with a kaleidoscopic light display. For those wanting a more intense workout, the hotel offers a gym that allows for guests to get any form of exercise that they wish. For those wanting something less aerobic, the hotel offers a putting area where guests can borrow clubs and balls to practice their putting. The hotel was an ideal place to work and relax as we were able to get our work done while watching the days football games without any noise or other distractions. After a day of work, we went out to the nearby offerings, many of which are within walking distance and enjoyed some of the dining and shopping options that were offered. The hotel is located close to Sky Harbor Airport as well as several of the area malls and attractions due to the close proximity of the freeway. If your looking for a great place to stay on business or pleasure or to mix it up with a nice weekend away, the hotel is a perfect place for all of your needs. Fantastic friendly Service, the breakfast was great. Location is perfect for food and entertainment. Plenty of space. Cozy bed. Spacious sofa to relax on. Most importantly cool rooms, especially in the summer. Downside is the cable reception is bad, the entertainment center has useless ports no hdmi port access and limited local channels. Not a deal breaker. But would have been nice to know. Wifi access is good, strong and fast for work and business VPN. The maid service is touch and go. Some days it's great others it's haphazard. Having spent a month in their care, I can recommend for a good business travel spot when you come to Phx, Tempe,or Mesa. read more

I'm not even going to finish my stay before giving this place 1 star. Check-in was fine. My room was nice and clean. My 1 star stems from the horrible shuttle service. I waited about 10 minutes to wait for the shuttle driver to come out to the van, even though the van was sitting there the whole time. I had to use Google maps to tel the guy how to go. I was going 3.5 mikes away to the Marriott to register for my race the following morning. I visited the expo and called for a shuttle at 5:07pm. It is now 6:47, and three phone calls later with attitude met at each one still hasn't produced my return ride. I was told he has been to other places but not here. Whatever. Don't offer the shuttle if you can use it correctly. read more

We booked here thru Booking.com, which the site says "free breakfast". When we checked in they said you can only get free breakfast if you book thru them directly. Our first morning the front desk asked for our room number and explained again their "new rule". The second morning no one asked for our number. So much for their policy. That was annoying. Overall great hotel, even tho your can hear the air planes descending every minute which that don't bother us. For the sensitive ears I'm sure would be issue. Pool and hot tub were amazing. Because of a fine print, she was not able to get a refund although she had called 4 days in advance. When she called to cancel (thinking they just needed a 48 hour notice) they gave her a cancellation number but did not tell her she wasn't getting a refund. She later found out and told me what happened. I called them and the staff was apathetic and unwilling to make amends. I'm so disappointed for her... I stayed here the night before I was to run the 2013 Phoenix Marathon (which conveniently ends right next door and the buses to take you to the starting line are also in front of the hotel). The staff are the most helpful hotel personnel I have ever met. The food and the accommodations were great. It was a perfect place to get a really nice rest before a grueling 26.2 mile run. Word to wise, if you have two or three people and they don't mind sleeping near one another just get a room with a king or queen. The rooms come with an enormous couch that can sleep one person easily. read more
