I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Lori and the entire team at Hyatt Place Princeton. During a very difficult time for my family, as we traveled to New Jersey for a bereavement two weeks ago, Lori went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and stress-free. Her kindness, compassion, and professionalism gave us a little peace of mind when we truly needed it most. I'd also like to recognize the general manager and the wonderful staff for their outstanding hospitality. Everyone made us feel welcome and genuinely cared for. Although this was our last trip to the Northeast to say goodbye to my final remaining relative there, we'll definitely return to this hotel in the future just for pleasure. This is my second stay in this hotel in 2 years. Even though it was 45 minutes from the event I was attending. I chose this hotel based on my last stay, the good price for two nights as a Hyatt member, and the fact that it's located in a shopping area that has restaurants and Starbucks, etc., as well as shopping within walking distance. There's also a nice sidewalk surrounding the whole area and you can take a walk in the morning. I was surprised that the last two recent reviews of this hotel were so bad because the impression those reviews gave while those people might have had a bad experience really does not describe the hotel in my opinion. It is true that this property is a little bit older so there definitely are some things in the rooms that could use spruced up. However, the rooms are large and suite sized. My AC worked fine. there is plenty of counter space & the sink & counter area are outside of the space where the shower and toilet are located. The toilet flushed fine. Shower was hot & large (walk in flat with no tub). Plenty of towels. The TV is a smart TV so you can stream. I did not & just watched HBO & regular cable. There is a bar area with a fridge & small sink & counter space for foods/beverages . Ice is only on floors 3 & 5 though. I was on 4. A desk & chair. A large couch seating area with ottoman on wheels. My room was away from elevator & quiet. It is true from the other reviews that there is only one elevator because the other elevator is broken. So the elevator can be slow and busy times and I therefore took the stairs because the hotel only has five floor floors. I realize that that's not possible if you are physically unable to do that. The lobby is nice and what I appreciated is that they had a large carafe of lemon water and a large carafe of orange water that they refilled daily. There was always someone cleaning the lobby floors as well. It was spotless. There are grab & go snacks. I did not partake of the breakfast food area so I can't comment on that. Parking is free & easy. Desk staff were friendly upon my check in. I checked out easily on app. I had also requested an early check-in and that was accommodated. I would stay again. I recommend Tommy's Tavern + Tap next door with large menu & good happy hour specials. Bonus-Wegman's supermarket is 5 min down the road. read more

Any property is better than this one. They have one slow working elevator. The second one has been broken - for years! It can take you 15 minutes to get from the fifth floor to the lobby. The pool is permanently closed. The breakfast is inedible and has very few options - not to mention it is an additional charge. The air conditioning in my room did not work and despite calling to confirm a first floor room and my Globalist status, I was left on the fifth floor. Doors slam loudly all night long and because there is not much of a lobby, people sit in the hallways talking all night. My partner has a service dog, which makes it very challenging to wait so long to take her out. I will never be back and sadly this means I will have to find a different hotel chain to patronize. I have tried multiple times to contact Hyatt, but they simply don't care. read more

This hotel is very clean. There was no dust, I always sanitize a room and they did a great job. The bed is very comfy. We loved the sofa layout, it was convenient for our toddler to eat and easy for me to prep her milk with the extra sink. The bathroom was weird though, the sink is outside and my main issue was seeing the mirror when I'm on the bed. That's bad fung shui and kinda creepy when I got up at 3AM. I washed my hand and then there's another mirror on the bathroom door so I'm like hey who is this..... oh it's just my reflection. Layout not great. Breakfast was good! Visited twice (Nov and Dec 2025). Hotel was undergoing renovations and I was the recipient of a below standard room. Stains on sofa, bed squeaked upon sitting, broken toilet tank, dust on furniture and the lust goes on. Upon contacting the front desk, I was told that I'm not satisfied, I should go stay somewhere else. That was enough for me to confirm that I will not be returning. Solid hotel, could be better, could be worse. Our family stayed here for 1 night and our stay was OK. The room was relatively comfortable, clean and roomy enough for the 4 of us. Although we didn't go to any of the surrounding restaurants or stores, it's conveniently located near many. As for the complimentary breakfast, they had scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, French toast, boiled eggs, Chobani yogurt, your typical coffee and juices and, MY FAVE when I visit hotels, packaged Otis Spunkmeyer muffins!!! I absolutely love seeing those muffins when I stay at hotels because you can always take a few for the road (which I admit we did). The breakfast seating area was a bit tight for our family of 4, but we managed. Overall, solid hotel and should easily get you to the next day without you finding new bites on your arms and legs or seeking breakfast in the morning. read more

The points from this hotel paid for an upgrade to the Hyatt Regency close by. Being made fun of in the lobby was the introduction experience to this location. People say it was because I parked at the entrance behind the hotel instead of making an appearance through the main lobby. Either way, guests openly laughing was something the hotel compensated for. Hence the hotel gets an extra star. However, this apparently affected the room I was assigned. The room smelled of old sweat and was towards the stairwell on a medium level floor. They have drinks at the bar next to the front desk. Sandwiches from the refrigerated section nearby were serviceable. read more

The Hyatt Place was a decent option for my visit to Princeton. The location is pretty decent as Princeton University and Princeton Junction are both about a 8 minute drive away. You're also in a little mall and have multiple dining and shopping options within walking distance. My room was a large and little older, but clean and comfortable. Daily housekeeping was provided and everything worked out fine. They offer a free breakfast and it was above-average. Check-in was fast and easy. I docked a star because their printing center didn't work and they only had one elevator out of two operational and I didn't see anyone try to work on it. read more

Great location off US Route 1 near the Princeton MarketFair mall! It's directly behind the "On the Border" restaurant. If you enter the mall area from U.S. 1, it's to the right of the Barnes and Noble bookstore. If you enter from the back road (Canal Pointe Boulevard), it's behind the Residence Inn Marriott. Driving south on US Route 1 (maybe a half-mile away), you'll find a Whole Foods Market in a strip mall. Further down US Route 1 south, you can find a Wegmans, Target, and Dicks Sporting Goods store if you take the next major exit and turn onto Nassau Park Blvd. My wife, two sons (16 yrs, 14 yrs), miniature poodle, and I stayed here for 2 nights in late December 2021 to visit family relatives during the omicron variant surge. On the plus side, the hotel has plenty of free parking, a decent breakfast, and front desk staff who were professional and prompt with check-in. Our family decided to bring our dog at the last-minute, and the front desk added our miniature poodle with a reasonable $75 pet fee for our 2 night stay. On the minus side, the bathroom in Room 525 felt cramped. The building appears to be vintage 1970s/1980s with a speckled ceiling and motel layout. Having a USB charging port would be nice, but that's a minor issue. I think if the hotel had nicer rooms, this would be a 5-star place. That said, it's a good option if you're passing through for a short stay on business or vacation. read more

ZERO STARS Awfully kept hotel. Rooms are very mediocrely cleaned. The rest of the hotel is tired and old looking. Even better, the building filled with smoke and smell of smoke while we stayed here. Alarms went off and we were told to wait outside. Most likely lack of maintenance and preventative repairs per the fire chief I spoke with! The staff is horrible to deal with. Not a single employee came outside to inform us what was happening for more than 2 hours. We sat outside our hotel in the 90 degree weather! However, this is on par for the rest of the stay. Staff was constantly on their phones or sitting around in the lobby unresponsive to guests. AND If the place couldn't get any worse... the power went out the day after the fire issue. I am actually speechless as to how so many problems could go wrong in a 4 day reservation. Wouldn't record this place at all, needs to be leveled and new management brought in! If you have relatives coming in for the holidays take a tip from someone who knows how to keep the peace and dump them here. Hyatt Place is a stones throw from the AMC multiplex and the Marketfair Mall... you'll never see them and, believe you me, that's the best Christmas present of all. The rooms have been updated, the service is crisp and the rates, even by post-pandemic standards, are reasonable. Seriously, the people we recommended this property to are still talking to us and from what I've seen, the place is a proper Hyatt. And get ready as master thief and egg nog hoover Aunt Trudy regales you with her theft of the "oh so cute" mini shampoos and lotions. I've got to learn to hide the liquor. Stayed here for two nights while visiting Sesame Place. Hotel is located 20 minutes away and is conveniently located near dining/shopping plaza. Our room was spacious but outdated. The TV was ancient and we were unable to use chromecast via the WOH app. One elevator was out of order the entire stay, the pool closed until further notice. The breakfast was mediocre. read more

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights - Room 323. I would say that the rooms and lobby need updating. There was popcorn ceiling in the rooms and the TV was outdated - we couldn't get a clear picture any day. We also had the loudest air conditioning unit which kept us awake at night. I would say that the positives was that the room was clean and housekeeping did a nice job keeping our towels fresh and remaking our bed. There was an OK breakfast as well with hot and cold options. There is also a small mall with some food options within walking distance that was convenient. Hotel was loud on the weekends - Lots of sports travelers and their families but became more quiet on the weekdays. I'm not sure if I would stay here again, but it doesn't seem like there are any other better options in the area. read more

This will probably my new go to hotel on future trips to Princeton area. Location is great. Walking distance to 6 restaurants & a mall. Located along Route 1 which is also very convenient for getting around. Hotel provides large suite type rooms & breakfast is included that had many food choices. The staff was super helpful & pleasant. Daily room cleaning was available - a real plus. The only negatives were the lack of adequate clothing storage for more than 1 person in a very large room & the older TVs. I had higher expectations for a 4 star hotel than were met. The room was old and dark, and the towels were threadbare. The tissues were like sandpaper. The noise of other guests woke me in the middle of the night, and I could hear a crying baby across the hall. That my be due to the room layout or thin walls, not sure. This hotel was pretty good. The walls weren't so thin that we could hear our neighbors or have to worry about our 4 yr old disturbing anyone. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were set up for needs of the modern traveler. There is a charging station next to the bed and an a/v setup on the wall between the tv and desk proding easy access to hook your computer up to the tv. There were two full length mirrors and a real, fullzsized hairdryer instead of the small ones you find on the walls of most hotel rooms. There was no tub, but the water pressure and temperature in the shower was excellent. There was a very nice complimentary breakfast with bacon, eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, fruits and cereals along with other items. I was hopeful that the towels would be up to the standards of the rest of the room but, unfortunately not. They were your pretty standard hotel towels. If they ever get better towels, this will be 5 stars for sure! read more

I'd go 3 1/2 stars. Room was clean. Service was fast checking-in. They do have free breakfast in the morning so that's always good. To the 3 1/2...the bed was sunken in, in the middle. The walls are a little light. I don't really prefer someone peeing next door in the middle of the night or upstairs. That can be disturbing. I like the layout of the rooms and that there is mini refrigerator. The rooms had an absence of smell-a great plus. Downside is the large groups of college sports teams stay here. Free parking, free breakfast, and large rooms, what's there not to love about the Hyatt Place? Stayed here for an overnight and enjoyed it a lot! The parking lot is huge so you won't have any issues about not being able to find a spot. There's an On The Border and Brick House Tavern that's a 30 second walk away from the hotel. There's also a couple of other restaurants and a mall nearby that you can easily walk to and check out. The breakfast here is surprisingly really good, and daresay, the best free breakfast I've had amongst other chain hotels. Rooms are quite large and comes with two beds, as well as a separate living room space. I would recommend staying here if you plan on visiting Princeton University. read more

My wife and I were here on a overdo date night night. It's a good location a lot to do around that area. Room was good and that's were it ended. I paid for breakfast... @10:15am we made are way down to eat. When we enter the small room there was no food coffee etc. when I asked where breakfast was they said breakfast ended at 10am! Wow!!! They didn't offer me anything!! Not even a coffee or a piece of bread. I told them I paid for breakfast and the man just walked away! I will never stay at a Hyatt ever again. When you are away you shouldn't have to rush to eat breakfast! Not to mention inform your customers of this terrible policy. I didn't as much get a apology from this terrible hotel! Me and my family checked in today 7/7/18 Saturday, at Hyatt place Princeton New Jersey. This is our most terrible experience of all time. It is very sad that due to this poor experience my Children would never forget about our experience in this hotel. There a couple of incident that happened during our stay. We booked our room via booking.com. I booked a king room, and expecting a king bed and a sofa bed, but we got one twin bed with a sofa bed. Okay that was forgiven because the supervisor on duty said that we booked it via a third party site, so it is not guaranteed for our room, but is not that false advertising, these third party websites get whatsoever they have in there website from your source i'm pretty sure, because if not there would not be any cases where it would show your hotel is fully booked or sold out for a certain day when it is. Okay so here we go the worse part of our experience, once we got in room 206 there was a funky smell in the room, but we ignored thinking that was somehow a normal smell of your rooms in this place we were already in hurry as well to get in the pool since we checked in late, and our kids wanted to swim already. We were settling everything when my husband stepped on something and so he picked it up and he realized it's a piece of weed, so he dropped it and left it on the carpet and started investing around and found another piece close to it, also he found a USED tampon underneath the bed and dirty tissues. We have 3 kids with us and one of child is two years old only, we are just thankful that he did not pick it up. We were moved to a different room but this inconvenience is so upsetting since we have limited time due to work schedule and life. Our children are now forever scarred because if this incident. They would always think hotels are dirty and nasty. We are hoping you could improve housekeeping and be more sensitive about infection control. There were ants in both of our rooms. They were crawling on the floor, the bathroom and the couch. Any clothing we left on the floor had ants in it. Mostly I was disappointed with the staff. They didn't discount either of our rooms. Because of this, I won't stay here again. read more

Do you love to have a relaxing stay....then you must go here. Their room layouts are just amazing with the mini-bar, living room and bedroom. We had such a great time just relaxing, going to the indoor pool and then ordering in and watching some movies. The staff here was REALLY nice and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and the rooms were really clean. I wish the pool would have been a little warmer for it being winter, but I am always ALWAYS cold :) All in all, I can't complain about anything for our stay. The lady who checked us in put us in a nice quiet room and the location itself is within walking distance to a couple major restaurants (On the Border and PF Changes) as well as a little mall for shopping. If you need some quite, just ask at the front desk and they would be more than willing to help out I am sure. read more

I'm happy here! The hotel is directly in back of the Residence Inn by Marriott that I reviewed a couple of years ago. The two are comparable in many respects, but the Hyatt Place seems tonier. There's a "boutique hotel" feel to the lobby and the furnishings and layout of my room. As other yelpers have explained, each room has a small bedroom area, a living room area and a nook with a desk, refrigerator and small sink. My room has no dishes or silverware, and only two small glasses. The TV is a large flat screen with hookups for VGA, HDMI, S-video and most anything else that your portable digital devices are apt to throw at it. Everything works correctly, and details have been thought out carefully. (When you reach for a switch, you find one -- and it does what you'd guess that it does.) My room has been pretty quiet so far, but there's not much sound insulation between the bedroom and the hallway. If other residents decide to get noisy, I'll definitely hear them. The elevator goes up and down at a glacial pace. I've been using it because I'm on the fifth floor and my room is right near the elevator (but far from the stairs). The morning breakfast is rather good, but not off scale in any way. I think that the Marriott breakfasts are better, though the coffee here is actually a high point. There is a serviceable free WiFi network. It tests at 2.25Mbps for downloads; I've seen worse. You have to log into it every 24 hours, which is annoying but not a big surprise. The hotel is a 90-second walk away from Market Faire, a mall with a Starbucks, a food court, a bookstore, a movie theater and other stuff. The next mall down, in the direction of Trenton, is more of a traditional shopping center (not a covered mall), but it has a Whole Foods. It's not hard to walk to the Whole Foods in under 15 minutes. read more

Was searching for a hotel for our Columbus Day weekend getaway and it was a toss up between Hyatt place & Hampton Inn. Hyatt won due to Hamptons supposedly noisy A/C unit. We're traveling with a baby so any noise issues is an issue for us. Friendly staff. Pros Large and spacious room Mini fridge Nice flat screen tv that swivels Comfy pillows Free breakfast Clean & modern decor Great location - across street from mall Free wifi Quiet 12pm check out Lots of parking Cons Small bathroom Dirty tiles in shower Squeaky bed - can feel the coils No food network channel - what?! My family and I go to New Jersey several times a year to visit relatives. We find it's easier and less imposing. We just discovered The Hyatt Place on Highway 1 and will not stay anywhere else. -Easy to make reservations. -Ample parking -Nice lounge/bar with really good food. -Jose and Alexandra are excellent at what they do! Really enjoyed our conversations. -Beds and pillows are comfortable. -Rooms are nicely decorated. Much nicer than a typical "hotel room" A great find! We will be back! read more

We're from NYC but are in NJ for a business trip indefinitely so we are here Mon-Fri every week. We've been here since the beginning of March and have tried every hotel nearby that is pet friendly. Everyone at Hyatt Place has been super nice except this Mexican/Spanish lady. Not sure what her role was. I came back to the hotel from taking my dog to the dog park, went up to my room, but my hotel keys weren't working. On the way down to get my card keys fixed, I realized I left my dog's water bottle on the bench in the car so I needed to go back and get it. I'm walking to my car with my dog in my arms to put my dog in the car first. I see the Mexican lady and she is staring at me. Okay whatever. I put my dog in the car and walk to the front desk to get my card keys fixed. The girls there were very very nice. While my cards were getting fixed, the Mexican lady starts talking from where she was standing across the room to the girls in front of me and they're conversing IN Spanish. At this point my keys are fixed, I thank the girl and walk to my car to go back to the dog park to retrieve my dog's bottle. I walk past the Mexican lady and she LITERALLY FOLLOWS ME OUT TO MY CAR. I'm parked in the first spot right in front of the back door behind the hotel. She stands at the door, holding the door open, doesn't even come out, and is LITERALLY WATCHING me as I'm getting into my car. Literally holding the door open just to watch me. While giving me a death glare. Probably to see that I had a dog so she can go tell those girls. If you have a problem with me having a dog then just ask me. Why would you follow a guest to their car and stare at them while they're getting into their car. It made me extremely uncomfortable and made me feel like a criminal. I've stayed at Residential Inn Marriott, Hampton Inn, Hilton Lawrenceville, and Hyatt Regency in the month that I've been here. I was planning to use Hyatt Place for the rest of my time here (which has no end date yet) because the room and breakfast is nice but I'm definitely reconsidering now. I've never been treated like this at ANY hotel. Their website said they are pet friendly so of course I brought my dog. I was never trying to hide him. If I was trying to hide him I would've put him in a bag and not just hold him in my arms. This entire trip including the hotel is paid for by the company so we literally have no reason to hide him because we don't have to pay a cent. It was extremely unprofessional of her to FOLLOW me to my car and WATCH me instead of just asking if I had a dog. I would've just said yes and proudly showed her my cute dog. Also! The afternoon when I checked in, I had requested a 2PM late check out via my hotel room phone to the front desk. On the morning of my check out date, I'm not sure if it was the same lady (I think it was), she knocks on my door at 1:30pm. I say "Hi" and the first thing she says to me is "ARE YOU CHECKING OUT?!" without even greeting back or saying good afternoon at least. She made me feel like I did something wrong in this accusatory tone of voice. Anyways I told her "I have 2PM late check out. I called before." And she didn't apologize or anything and walked away while say "Nobody told me." Extremely rude and unprofessional. read more
