Convenient location, clean room, comfortable bed and kind staff. Breakfast was understaffed, but the manager was doing everything from cooking to checking on guests to help his server meet the demand. As a Globalist, there was no special amenity but we did get a warm reception, free breakfast and a nice upgrade to a suite. Yelp gets it right again. Three stars. * * * The Hyatt Regency is a perfectly nice place to sleep. The beds are comfortable. They have hot water. Parking is easy. My particular room had a shower that insisted on running even when I wanted to take a bath. A nuisance but not a traumatic life scarring experience. * * * The challenges of the Hyatt Regency are all on the food side. And note - the food is perfectly good. They have a decent kitchen and will serve you fine stuff. On the plus side - and hooray for them on this one - the kitchen cooks unusual things and makes them available for purchase in the various and sundries store. So if you get an urge for garlic chicken wings at 2 in the morning - you don't have to do anything stupid like room service. They have real good ones that you just buy at the store, pay for at the front desk and then zap. Eat in the lobby or your room as you wish. * * * So what I am squawking about? Squawk squawk squawk squawk squawk squawk squawk squawk. a) The hotel is in a food desert. There is absolutely nothing around the hotel. Princeton is a completely interesting food city ... And it has become more so since it became a retirement community for elderly New Yorkers who want to get out of the rat race of living in the city. You can eat like a king in Princeton. I was travelling. It was in the middle of cold spell that was unusually cold and miserable even for long standing experienced Princeton residents. Getting to the famous food would have meant two expensive Ubers for non-trivial distance while freezing my a** off. In most other college towns, the hotel where all the campus visitors stay is right in the heart of the action. I was in Siberia both for remoteness and for temperature. I did most of my eating at the hotel - hating every minute of it. b) The Hyatt like nearly every other hotel specializes in massive markups for eating on premises. They promise high quality to match the astronomic prices. I had a breakfast buffet where most of what I was eating was scrambled eggs (good but nothing special), bacon (a little worse than normal bacon) and chicken sausages (kudos on the chicken sausages.) There was lox with capers - which was a good thing. Not a terrible breakfast. But NOT worth $28 a pop. Every time I had breakfast I was feeling the money draining out of my wallet. c) I had dinner at the bar with decent sports TVS. If I wanted to do upscale experimentation - and I did - the options were extremely attractive. The prices were blanch-worthy. Okay, one of the bottles I looked at was an advanced years Whistle Pig Rye. The whole point of Whistle Pig is to make you pay enough money that you force yourself into thinking you are drinking a superior beverage. Otherwise you could not live with yourself and what you are doing. I have done Whistle Pig in lower end manifestations. The brand is meritorious. But it is NOT four times better than competing brands that are charging a fourth of the price. Add a hotel markup to that and you are looking at numbers so obscene that children should not be allowed to hear them. I limited myself to brands I could drink for less than $20 a pop. I discovered one marvelous rye, and one mediocre rye. (Angels Envy and Basel Hayden Dark respectively.) My wallet was under control drinks wise. The flatbread pizza on the other hand was playing the breakfast buffet game. Huge prices for cheap stuff. A flatbread with mortadella on it should not cost practically $30, even if the six pieces of mortadella on your pizza have real pistachios in them. Pistachio and regular mortadella go for the same price where I buy Italian goodies. So once again I was watching my wallet bleed. At least I could drown my sorrows in alcohol. * * * Yes, hotel dining is expensive. If you don't want to pay hotel prices, Don't eat in hotels. I get it. But if you are in a place where you are going to have to pay at least $30 and catch pneumonia in order to NOT pay hotel prices, That means that you are stuck-ooed no matter how you play it. * * * Simple Solution: Don't stay at the Princeton Hyatt Regency. The Princeton Hyatt is convenient if you work in Carnegie Center or have family or friends to visit in Princeton. Princeton University is 5 minutes away, Princeton Junction train station is 5 minutes away and for me, the Hyatt is located at Carnegie Center which is home to many businesses in the area. The staff is great with answering questions, helping with recommendations in the area, and helping you choose the right room. I preferred a room facing the atrium, which is unique. The rooms are spacious with mini-fridges, plush beds, updated amenities, and fantastic televisions that have a ton of channels to relax with after a long day. There is also laundry or dry cleaning that you can send before 830am to get back the same day. The fitness center is large and has all of the best equipment you need, including a TRX. The food at the hotel is also top notch. Whether you have breakfast, lunch or dinner - all of the selections were excellent. Parking is also free which is a huge plus! Again, all of the staff here are amazing and that is what keeps me coming back. The staff remember and care about you. You can hardly find that at hotels these days. I love this Hyatt and will choose to stay here for work or pleasure when in Princeton again. read more

The lobby and rooms were very clean and beautiful! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The only downside is the towel shortage at both the pool and in the rooms. In both places, we asked for more and they never came, or took forever. But otherwise, I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat! It's so gorgeous and reasonable priced. read more

Visited some friends in the area and booked this place for a night. I've stayed here many times over the past 15 years, and I love it. I think it's a great hotel that's very spacious and clean. I've never had any issues with the customer service or the rooms. I booked a room with a king-size bed - great layout with plenty of storage space. They have the clear glass fridge and complimentary bottles of water. They have breakfast starting at 7am, but I didn't get a chance to try cause I was too tired to get up, and I had to leave by 9am (check-out is at 12 noon, but I had to get going). They do not have room service (at least not when I arrived around 9pm), but you can order takeout. When you check-in, let them know you want to order food, and they will give you a menu to their restaurant Laurea (which is located downstairs, aka the ground floor via elevator). You can call from your room by pressing the "restaurant" button. Once it's ready, they will call you, and all you have to do is go downstairs to pick it up (they will charge your room). I ordered: - knife & fork caesar salad - apple & brussel sprout salad - calamari appetizer I forgot to take pictures, but everything was pretty good! The apple & brussel sprout salad was surprising, as it was a slaw type of salad (and the brussel sprouts are raw). If you don't want to order anything, they do have a cafe that has alcohol, beverages, ready-to-go meals, and snacks. read more

I has taken me quite some time to finally write this review. After letting 6 months pass, I still to this day remember this as one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I booked this hotel for my wedding. I reserved the presidential suite, reserved a large block of guest rooms for several days, reserved event spaces, and paid for catered event meals. My spouse and I literally brought in tens of thousands of dollars to this venue. And yet, we were treated terribly. Booking this venue was the only regret we have about our wedding. These are just a few of the issues we experienced: -The day before the wedding, we were hosting a rehearsal dinner at the hotel. I was in such a great mood and so excited. I went to the front desk to ask if they had an easel to put up a sign. The woman at the front desk was incredibly rude and immediately changed the mood of the night. She said to me "I'll need to talk to the sales team." I said ok and waited off to the side. She looked at me again and snapped "It will be a while." I don't think anyone would believe how unnecessarily rude this interaction was if my mother hadn't witnessed it as well. I also inquired if they could correct an error the hotel made on the electronic notification boards. She replied "they will get to it." I was able to talk to someone else about fixing the boards and they were able to change it, but it was still the wrong information. Our guests were being directly to the wrong room and wrong start time. -We specifically asked if we could reserve the adjoining room next to the presidential suite we booked. We thought this was a small ask considering we were spending thousands of dollars on our room alone, not including the tens of thousands of additional dollars the hotel was getting. We were told this wouldn't be a problem. We had this agreement in writing. That room was given away despite the hotel's promise. -The night before my wedding, there were other guests (not part of our wedding) that were drunk and screaming in the middle atrium. Many of us, myself including, didn't get much sleep. The security guard kept going down to talk to the group, but at 1am, they were still there yelling. -One of our guests was arriving from an international location and travel was delayed. The hotel canceled our guest's reservation and gave away our guest's room. They never even tried speaking to us about this. They told us there was nothing they could do and they would not have another room for him to stay. We had to speak to management multiple times and finally an open room suddenly appeared. -We confirmed the event spaces several times and we reserved the rooms almost 2 years in advance. Despite this, the hotel changed the event spaces at the last minute without even asking us about this. We had printed material for our guests and could no longer use any of it. -The final thing I will say is minor, but shows how little the hotel cares. We didn't receive any welcome gift. No wine or champagne. No snack. Not even a "congratulations" written on a piece of paper. Only the bare minimum was provided, and sometimes not even that. We spent a significant amount of money at this hotel and we were always kind and polite. We didn't even receive so much as a congratulations. I have received nicer welcomes at lower end hotels on non-event stays. The hotel itself really is beautiful, but the staff at this hotel were among the worst I have ever experienced. The were rude, inept, and often didn't fix their own mistakes. I strongly recommend avoiding any events booked at this hotel. (As a final note, I would like to state that aside from the awful experience at this hotel, EVERY OTHER aspect of our wedding was wonderful and I would like to give a shoutout for the amazing service all the other vendors provided! If I had to describe this room in one word it would be LOUD. I know, hotels aren't often quiet, but the doors here seem to have extra level of CraSh when they slam all around me at all hours of the day and night. I had fun listening to the conversations of the people in the room next door on one side of me and the TV in the room on the other. Oh, and every toilet flushing all around me and floors above and below me. Lovely. Just loud. Difficult to sleep. Pet peeve - the windows were filthy. Like, not really being able to see outside grime. I wonder when was the last time they had a window cleaner out here? Or if they have at all? Otherwise it was your standard, dated hotel room. Definitely built for trade shows or conferences, they had a lot of Princeton Tiger paraphernalia around, and the unassuming outside was the lowest height Hyatt I'd seen in a while... until I walked in. The center atrium with open layout, many stairs and seating areas, charging zones and more with a restaurant on the lower level was quite a great design... I was thinking in my head it'd be great for a paintball/lazertag center, but it was quite refreshing. Pool off to the side, back area had more green space and rooms faced inside and outside for some light. While the restaurant menu wasn't as good as the one I'd had in Boston, it cost about as much. Person staying there who we were meeting said the rooms were comfortable and clean, modern contemporary and simple. Wifi for Hyatt members or people staying can request the link. I liked this hotel! Impressive lobby with a very beautiful restaurant and the bar in the middle with the waterfalls and fish pound. Working area in a lobby is nice. The room is big and clean, very calm. Huge swimming pool. Good Breakfast s $27 for buffet and it was ok, however, coffee is not included... Air condition is old, so make sure you keep it on less then 69 degrees. I stayed for one night and checkout is at 12 PM. However, room service checked if I'm still there for a couple of times after 10am even I still had 2 hours. This was confusing and disturbing. Why to do that is guest didn't checkout? Also, they didn't send me a receipt even after 24 hours after check out. read more

This is not a Hyatt that lives up to the reputation of a high-end hotel chain. The hotel staff is a level of unimpressive that would astound even a frequent traveller. The lobby tables are perfectly adequate. When you walk through the wavy architecture and near the front desk, you're greeted by an adequate bar and the open atrium lobby. The aura of this hotel is creepy. Having a drink at an atrium table is discouraged. One can almost feel a whispering through the walls of the room. Room service was delivered adequately but the salad caused a small amount of stomach upset, which was not helped by the persistent whispering frequencies of the room. read more

Our A/C system suddenly stopped working and I had to find a cool room to stay at for the night. Went to Hotels.com, found this Hyatt and drove on over. The outside of this hotel is a Soviet style monstrosity, with an endless brick facade, few windows and an overall depressing look. It looked like a post office facility more than a 4 star hotel. It also has a confusing entrance. GPS leads you to the wrong side of the building while the actual entrance has no clear signage. We found it eventually, but it really wasn't clear. Upon arrival we checked in and the clerk gave us our key cards. However she didn't bother to tell us which side of the hotel our room was, and being that it was our first stay, we didn't think to ask. So we walked straight to the first elevator and went up - only to realize it was the wrong side and that we had to walk across the mammoth lobby to the other side, something that was not appreciated at that late hour. When we finally got to the room it was surprisingly good. It was obvious that they had recently renovated and they had lots of nice touches, like the modern bathroom, luxurious sheets and bedding and high quality entertainment system. We were quite comfortable. One thing I didn't like was that my reservation request for sofa bed sheets and bedding was not honored. We checked in at 930pm and had to call up housekeeping and wait until 1015pm to get everything and get settled in. That should have been done when they got the reservation and prior to our arrival. Also, there were a few issues with the room. The air vents were covered with dust and lint, there were stains on the walls and ceiling and they built in motion activated night lights into the end tables which went off all the time. Move your blanket? Bright light. Turn over in bed? Bright light. Unplug your charger? Bright light. Good intentions no doubt, but so damn annoying. My final assessment is that this is definitely a nice place to stay. It's clean and relatively quiet. Price was reasonable too. But while it purports to be a 4 star hotel, it's really more of an average 3 star hotel in my opinion. read more

Despite some recent updating don't let the late 1970s atmospherics fool you, the Hyatt Regency here is a hard-core conference hotel with pricing that is perfectly aligned to expense account sensibilities. The rooms are clean and spacious and have recently been remodeled against every premium hoteliers favorite design theme - minimalist contemporary. But make no mistake, the property is certainly an architectural throwback to an era when countless babies were made to the melancholy longings of Jackson Browne and the late John Denver automatically sold-out a-list arenas for a week. The inside atrium is so cavernous that I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of Saint Louis hanging from the ceiling. If you're looking for a romantic weekend there are better choices as the overall vibe of the place is austere and efficient with a staff that is perfectly matched. Ironically, in the midst of such clipped efficiency, the Hyatt atrium houses a branch of the well-known comedy club, Catch A Rising Star which offers a better than average assortment of mid-tier talent and is a really fun way to spend an evening. If you're going to be in town for business, the Hyatt is more than solid. Even on the weekend the location and amenities work especially if you plan on discussing a merger or leveraged buy-out with your significant other. Just remember to bring some Jackson Browne. read more

First off, we had difficulty locating the place on a stormy night due to poor signage on the main road. This hotel looks straight out of the '70s like an airport, and was virtually empty for a Sunday night stay. It was empty on a Monday morning too. Appears to be built for the days of trade shows and conferences, which are now zoom meetings. We were checked into room 411 by a very cold staff at the desk. Our room had to be the barest they had to offer for an empty hotel and did not even include a vanity around the sink or lights above the mirror! There was a small very beat-up black wooden shelving unit in the bathroom to put our items. It appeared to be a half-baked handicap room, as there were no bars for the bath/shower or toilet. The only redeeming features were an 80" tv with lots of channels, a very comfortable bed, and the HVAC actually worked fine. The room was clean. Very dated carpet looked like a huge spider web. We had breakfast in the atrium restaurant, 3 flights down from the lobby. We were seated immediately and our server was excellent. Very few items on the menu were expensive. My tiny 2-egg bacon omelette came with roasted potatoes and ONE slice of rye for $21. With coffee and tip, breakfast for two was over $60! I traveled a lot before retiring and stayed at many Hyatt Regencys over the years. They are now a shell of what they were then. The negative reviews of most of the HR's reflect this. read more

Our overall stay was OK. It is a decent hotel. The bed was comfortable. The pool was our best part of the stay, which would be the primary reason if was to stay again. As far as the suite we had (room #134/130), it was $500 a night, which I don't think it was updated enough for that amount. The suite was very dark, giving it a dingy vibe. The bathrooms only had a updated vanity, then just a regular hotel room tub with usage stains and the bedroom bathroom had a extremely loose toilet seat. There was no glass or fancy shower at all. The bedroom tv remote didn't work, so we had to use the living room remote for both TVs. A few bulbs were out during our stay, all the appliances in the kitchen area was old. The microwave handle was being held on with tape. The refrigerator was a different color then the other appliances and was very small, it couldn't even fit a full aluminum pan in it. We called down twice for extra blankets for guests, but never received them although was told someone would bring them. The space of the suite is nice, and which is the reason we booked it for thanksgiving dinner but I was expecting a bit more upgrades for $500 a night. read more

The dregs. The hotel that time forgot. A fascinating contrast to the Hyatt Regency in Century City where they appear to be keeping up appearances with upscale touches befitting SoCal sensibilities. However, landing at the Princeton outpost a month after the one in LA, I found an inadvertent tribute to the 1970's, a throwback to the high-ceiling atriums and parkay walkways fashionable when Nixon was still President. The only things missing were shag carpeting and lava lamps. Instead the carpeting was worn, and the koi in the pond looked kinda tired. My $234 per night room was adequate, nothing more except they skimped on the contents of the room mini-bar. The panoramic view from my window was of the empty parking lot and the vacated office building next door. My admitted sniping aside, I was honestly taken aback by the smugness of the front desk when I let them know a driver failed to pick me up at my company's headquarters nearby. What I realized later was that if the driver is occupied, the front desk does not implement any contingency plan until the guest calls in to complain about the missed pick-up. Of course, this revelation didn't come to me until I was waiting for a driver to take me to the Princeton Junction station where I was catching the train to Newark International. He was a half-hour late, and he had exactly six minutes to get me to the train. No apology from the hotel was forthcoming for the mishap that almost made me miss my flight back home. What's the point of paying $500+ for a two-night stay in a commuter hotel if they don't even clean your room? I booked a room here for the weekend of a friend's wedding since it seemed relatively more new than the other nearby hotels. We enter to a room that had clearly been cleaned with a dirty water rag with several large dead insects on the balcony. Upon arriving we're gruffly informed about this ridiculous policy that room cleanings are done only every other day and two-night stays are not eligible for any room cleaning. Beyond that, they were very rude and unapologetic when informing me, stating the new penny-pinching policy was clearly written on their "Welcome Letter" AKA the piece of paper they hand you once you've already booked your stay and paid them. No indication of this policy was made when I booked. When I offered to pay extra to have my room cleaned, I was told, at 9AM, "the schedule is already out for the day to the house keepers so we can't do that." Do yourself a favor and stay at an AirBNB, because as far as I'm concerned the only benefit to booking a hotel in 2021 is having your room cleaned and some basic amenities. This place does neither. Or check in with the Marriott or Westin, I'm sure they'd gladly...clean your room. Several hours before check out we are awoken by blaring music right outside our rooms due to a wedding ceremony. We spoke with the "'manager" David who continued to be rude and defensive and offer no apologies or reparations and deny any fault in creating a poor experience for his guests. read more

I had been planning my wedding to be at Hyatt Regency Princeton for over 2 years. We had signed the contract with the Senior Events Manager - Kristy Shawen in August of 2019. Originally, our wedding was set for August 2020, but obviously because of COVID, it was pushed out to 2021. We had SO many back and forth emails with Kristy about various things related to our wedding. I can confidently say that I spoke with Kristy almost every other month for at least 2 years straight. We were always in contact with each other. Fast forward to last weekend when everything came into fruition, everything about the hotel was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Some of our guests with small kids requested Jack & Jill rooms with their parents, and some guests who had reserved a 2 bed-room but were only 2 people, got king bed rooms, and some even got inwards facing balcony rooms. Everyone was so happy with their room choices. All of my guests raved about the way the hotel is organized and shaped. They absolutely loved the resort-feel to this hotel, and loved even more that there were only 4 floors which minimized the wait time for and in the elevator. The little kids LOVED the Koi Ponds, and adults alike loved walking all over the atrium. The check in process for our guests was a breeze & the amenities provided was absolutely amazing. My wedding was absolutely fantastic, and a good chunk of the reason why my wedding turned out to be amazing, was because of the hotel. I would 100% recommend anyone to stay here and most importantly, have their wedding here. You will not regret it! read more

Unfortunately our room faced the atrium where a party was held in the evening until midnight. It was impossible to go to sleep because of the noise. Came for a 2 day stay. Check in was easy and staff was super nice and helpful. They showed us which elevator to use and told us about food options since restaurant is under renovation. Also explained the pool check in situation. Room was spacious and AC was blasting- thankfully because this heatwave is killing me. Got the full breakfast which came with a TON of food and a coffee and juice. Bacon was nice and crispy and the chocolate croissant was just like the one at Starbucks. (Came with eggs, toast, fruit salad, and home fries). Pool was really big and fairly quiet. You check in due to people capacity and 2 hour limit. They provide you with pool towels. Atrium was a cool place to sit and have coffee. Hotel is literally 8 minutes from the heart of downtown Princeton without battling traffic and pedestrians. read more

A converted office complex as a hotel was not done particularly well. In addition, the lobby and restaurant furniture is very worn, damaged, dingy and unappealing. Perhaps it's better suited for business meetings. The rooms are nice and clean. The bathrooms seem newer and pleasant. The price point is high for what it is. Throw in more than a free cup of coffee why don't you? Then, maybe, it's worth coming back. But I won't be. read more

Terrible staff, one woman double charged us after I repeatedly said we had prepaid, the other wouldn't answer the phone and when he finally did, he put me on hold for a long time, was impatient and told me basically everything listed on their little amenities card were out of stock. The walls are paper thin. You hear EVERYTHING in the hallway like it is in your room. There was an upset baby down the hall who screamed through two nights of my stay and while no shade on the baby, the fact that a hotel has such thin walls that you can hear it as though it were in your room, through two closed hotel room doors down a hallway is ridiculous. When nearby doors shut the walls shake. Due to COVID they only offer housecleaning every other day during your stay and while in general the cleaning was ok, they did not wipe down the main countertop, did not refresh cups, coffee supplies, etc., and instead of replacing the towels neatly (in the manner they were presented upon arrival day one) they just left a messy pile of towels and washcloths on the sink. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

Event venue review: two and a half stars. Their phone customer service far exceeds their in-person performance, if you're willing to wait for a call back from someone actually competent. On-site event coordinators were a bit rude. The layout is awkward, but the ballroom is spacious. Decor is nice and everything was clean, if a tad outdated and rocking the vibe of indoor motel. Center lobby is comfily geared as an airy structure focused around a koi pond at the base of a fountain. LCD screens near the entrance counter showing the day's events via slideshow. Inexperienced servers were not prepared to work a 300-person event; didn't know how to smoothly transition bars or how to be aware for table service. read more

Throw back to '70's disco era where the walls are thin and packs of screaming children run and scream through the halls a and center courtyard. Televisions on both sides can be heard. Every door that opens can be heard down the hall. Conversations in other rooms. Ugh! Bring ear plugs or stay ANYWHERE else. read more

Booked one of their large suites ... had to ask for the bedroom door to be unlocked ... advertised a full kitchen well the "kitchen" did not have any dishes like wine glasses etc. Carpet was warned , could not take a bath because tub did not have a stopper & we did not have robes other than that all was well. We were there for my husbands 50th high school reunion from Pennington and the Hyatt was recommend . read more

Reserved a block of about 70 rooms for my daughter's wedding. Before we left for the wedding the room wasn't made up. I called down to the front desk to have housekeeping clean the room, and astonishingly I was told they only clean it every other day. We stayed over a Thursday and Friday night so I'm not sure how they calculate every other day. I told them I was leaving the next day. I asked at least to bring fresh towels. I didn't think I had to tell them to take the old towels, and replace the shower toiletries, but guess what, the old towels were left on the bathroom floor and no toiletries. For my next wedding stay I'll look elsewhere. read more
