As we prepare to check out this morning, this 3.5 star review could have easily been a 5. If management reads this, PLEASE replace the toilet seat in room 406 before anyone else stays in this room! The positives - Every team member that we encountered was super friendly and helpful. The bed is pretty comfortable. It's firm enough for support but has a little cushion for comfort. The room is massive and allows for tons of space to spread out. For the most part, the room is pretty clean, and you can't really hear much from the hallway. A mini fridge, microwave, and coffee are included. A breakfast is included, and the location is great for exploring the triangle area. Don't forget about the 3pm checkin and 12pm checkout! Areas for improvement - The first thing we noticed was the toilet seat (see pictures). It looked like it had piles of congealed urine on it. Upon closer inspection, it seems the paint from the seat had severely yellowed and is bubbling up and popping from all of the cleaning. It was also a bit dirty, but we sanitize every room we stay in. Such a simple fix that can't be overlooked. CHANGE THIS SEAT IMMEDIATELY! The sink is not designed with functionality in mind. The faucet is set so far back, that the water just clears the countertop. Your hands are forced to rub on the bowl to rinse them. Simple fix = longer spout for the faucet. The outer shower door does not slide! It was off the track so I lifted it back on. It still did not move. Judging from the bent lower frame, it has been this way for a while. Despite being jammed shut, this side of the shower still leaks quite a bit of water right next to the toilet Lastly, Hyatt, please make things easy for your staff! As many people do, I booked this using points from my credit card. Apparently, my bank uses 3rd party websites to conduct business. It shouldn't take your staff to manually calculate the rate+taxes/fees we have prepaid and try to guess the amount. This causes them to stress and slows things down for no reason. Also, if I prepay extra for a "high" floor, I shouldn't have to negotiate for it at checkin. It should already be allocated. As a comparison, my experiences with Bonvoy and Hilton have been seamless at checkin using the same process. read more

This Hyatt location is near NC State University. The room was clean and comfortable. The lobby and hallways were also clean. The shower had plenty of hot water. The staff provided friendly service. I had a few laughs with "Whispering Josh" at the front desk. The hot breakfast selections were very limited, so I enjoyed banana, a cup of coffee, and glass of apple juice. Good place to stay for a quick overnight trip to Raleigh. read more

Having just moved to Cary, I chose this hotel for a stay until my apartment was made ready. Ian, Asst. Mgr. and Brandon, Gen. Mgr. made sure I had a memorable stay. In fact my 6th floor suite was so lovely, no expense spared to make it a classy experience. For that reason, I extended my stay. I could not even believe the price at that time, of $120 per night as a Hyatt Club member after my 800 mile trip here, I stayed at no hotel to compete with the elegance, experience, and price of this Hyatt Place. Plenty of parking, artfully curated decor with exceptionally welcoming and distinctly different private areas to congregate with friends or fellow guests, you won't find a better experience. Compliments on the exceptional and varied daily breakfasts fresh from the kitchen. There was an impressive variation of quality foods representing local breakfast cuisine. Sometimes the self serve location of the dishes offered was too small to handle the large crowd, depending on the time you arrived, but the kitchen kept the food coming quickly providing fresh batches of everything to replace the quickly emptied large and tastefully arranged offerings. If you have never had a good Southern gravy and biscuit , let the Hyatt Place kitchen be your first! It won't disappoint. Our stay was two nights, arriving late in the evening on a Thursday. Traveling with my small doggy, I always have to make sure places will be accommodating to him as well. We were given a tag to put on the door to make sure the staff knew he was there. There was also a little dog walk area to the side of the hotel. For the humans, the room was large and comfortable, the breakfast was tasty and plentiful. All the staff was extremely pleasant. This is the first time I've stayed here and I would have to say it was a positive experience. The hotel staff were all nice and helpful. The room I stayed in was clean and decently sized. You will also find a mini fridge and an in room coffee setup. The included continental breakfast was decent and there are plenty of places to sit down to enjoy your meal. Recently I stayed at this Hyatt while going through the onboarding process of relocating to the area. This location is ideal if you're in the Cary area. It's located right off the 40 and easily accessible to everything. If you like to shop Morrisville is not too far also. McDonald's and Sheetz are located right across the street. We stayed on the 4th floor closest to the elevators. The rooms are typical Hyatt style spacious suites. A mini fridge but no microwave. The mattresses were very supportive and comfortable for a good night's rest. It was nice and peaceful. Brandon and Eureka were extremely helpful and kind. The weather has been very poor lately so on the day of check in my daughter wanted to take a dip in the pool. Brandon walked us over and went over the COVID19 rules. I needed to use the computers in the lobby to print out documents and that was very convenient. During the morning we stopped by for the continental breakfast bar. Due to COVID19, the normal Hyatt full breakfast spread was not an option. That was disappointing. There was cold cereal, packaged Quaker Oatmeal/ Grits, fruit, juice, bagels/ toast and hard boiled eggs. They also had microwave breakfast biscuits. Some negatives for me: I don't recall housekeeping knocking to clean the room for the day so that aspect lost a point for me. They never came. The ice maker was broken on our floor. Having to trek downstairs to the 1st floor to use the microwave was a problem. Despite the weather, The pool was dirty. read more

Found a HUGE cockroach in our room the second night. When we called for help, they said that they didn't have a bug spray, and couldn't send anyone here to help us kill it because they had only one person there. (It was after 10pm) The cockroach kept hiding into corners we couldn't reach. We had to drive to a few stores to get a bug spray and finally killed it. After that we requested to switch room since we didn't want to deal with moving to another hotel at midnight. The front desk also offered free snacks as a compensation. But even after switching rooms we were extremely stressed because we know that cockroaches are good at hiding and reproduces fast. Usually when you see one of them, they already have a family in the building. We weren't confident if the new room would also be infested, and worse, if any has already gotten into our luggage. I asked the front desk and learned that guests spot cockroaches about once every month. That to me is saying that the problem is much bigger. I've enjoyed staying at this hotel until this experience, and it overturned all my positive feelings about it. I would definitely not recommend staying here if you can find a place with good cleaning protocol. read more

Where do i even start. Okay i booked thru booking.com and paid for "higher floor" when i went to check in , a lady was training another lady. The automatic system had put me on the 6th floor which was the highest floor but the trainer had already made keys for the 4th floor so my room was switched without my permission. I ALWAYS self clean hotel rooms because i have trust issues when it comes to the "housekeeping services". As many people do. But what i saw was disgusting . Lifted the bedding covers into the light &' saw this . I'm pretty sure it's some time of bacteria growing from the lack of cleaning &' washing this hotel does. We liked the location of this Hyatt as it was within 20 minutes to everywhere we wanted to go in the triangle. The room is a little outdated and could've been cleaned a little better, but otherwise was okay. Did take advantage of breakfast the last day and it wasn't the worst, but better than most hotel breakfasts. I was down in the Raleigh area to attend my friend's yearly Christmas bash and decided to stay at this Hyatt property based on its stellar reviews. From the moment I arrived until checkout every Hyatt employee I encountered was personable and professional. The property itself is clean and modern, I really enjoyed the layout of my room, it felt like a little apartment, having that partition between the bed and "living area". Also, though I was located near the elevators, the room was very quiet and I consider myself to be a light sleeper. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was good, I would not say the best of any hotel breakfast, but the scrambled eggs were real, the sausage was great, and though a little hard, the waffles had delicious flavor. There were several cereals and breads to choose from, also hard boiled eggs, fruit and cottage cheese were available. In addition to food, there was coffee and a variety of milk and juices. My one complaint is this...many modern hotels now have a port to plug in a USB phone charger. There was a desk and I thought for sure there would be a USB port, or somewhere in the room, but no. Of course in hindsight is my responsibility to carry my charger with me, alas I did not and I ended up with a dead phone at some point in the night. Overall this was a very pleasant one night stay, there is not much around the property, there is a sheets and a McDonald's but it's close to the highway. If back in the area I would not hesitate to stay at this property again. read more

Another good stay at a Hyatt! They really seem selective when hiring because their staff has been consistently friendly and professional. I always like to mention someone in particular and this time it was Catriya, the woman at the front desk that I had the most interaction with. Very helpful and courteous. I absolutely love their room set ups, really spacious, and the bed is always comfortable. There were a couple of missed things with housekeeping, but not a big deal. Breakfast was delicious, but when they run out or it's getting towards the end of the breakfast time, they don't replenish. Minor things as far as I'm concerned, which is why I'm giving them four stars. Would recommend a stay here if visiting the Raleigh area. read more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from Saturday 1/12/19 through Friday 1/18/19, checking out Friday afternoon. Our initial reaction to the hotel was that it was a small business hotel in a corporate area of Raleigh, which is what we were expecting. However, the experience was not what we expected. The inside of the hotel is a bit shabby and not very tidy. Getting into the elevator made us regret booking this hotel. The walls of the elevator were covered in grime and smudges. Walking to the room, the carpet was dingy and scattered with bits of trash as if it hadn't been vacuumed in days. The walls were covered in dust and grime, and what appeared to be mildew from a leaking vent. The room they gave us initially was extremely small and cramped. At our request, we were quickly moved to one that was slightly more comfortable for two people. After settling in, I decided to order food from their self proclaimed "24/7" kitchen. I was disappointed to learn that they don't offer room service, you must go down to the lobby and get it. Understandable in this kind of hotel, I suppose. I was thrilled to find a Beyond meat (vegan) burger on the menu. Instantly a plus for me, as I don't eat any animal products. However, when I called down to order, I was told they didn't have any of the Beyond Meat burgers and also that their deep fryer was down. I was extremely disappointed. I question why they even put the item on the menu if it isn't available. On the first night of our stay, I got woken up by a couple of kids running through the halls and slamming room doors at 1am. I called down and asked if they could do something about the noise and I didn't hear the kids anymore after that, however, I was unable go back to sleep that night. On the morning of our second night stay, having not slept much the night before, I was awakened by what seemed to construction going on somewhere in the hotel, which went on for two days. We later discovered that the hotel was remodeling its elevators. The most I can say about this hotel is that most of the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Emphasis on the word most, because there was one woman in particular who came across very cold and not at all accommodating when my husband asked what the procedure would be for the need to check out after the 12pm check out time. We were traveling from Georgia for my husband's work and needed to check out after he returned from his work obligations around 2pm. We were expecting and willing to pay for an extra night stay, he just wanted to make them aware that we wouldn't be checking out at 12pm. However, the woman told him very blatantly that it would be "a problem" if we were to check out late. We didn't get this particular woman's name, but the other staff members we encountered were great overall. I've worked in the hospitality industry, and the one thing the Hyatt Place should demand from its employees is that they are hospitable, polite and respectable. Assuming they don't have those quality standards, I would've thought that the nearly $1000 price tag for our stay would merit a bit of hospitality or at the very least, politeness. We certainly wish we had booked a different hotel and regret staying here. My husband and I need to return to Raleigh two more times this year, each for a week long stay, for his work. First off, if I was able to give them 4.5 stars, I would. The Hyatt Place Raleigh West is a newer property, opened Feb 2012, just off of I-40 (exit 290) at the border of Raleigh/Cary on NC Hwy 54. I had an opportunity to use the property with family in town this past weekend and was pleased with the experience. The property itself is back off the road just enough to enjoy some quiet, in the Raleigh Corporate Center complex. There are still woods left in front of it (not sure how long that will last knowing expansion in the area) blocking the road view. Ample parking is provided in the lot. The exterior is clean and just the right hint of modern to it. The lobby is good sized, decorated very well without being over the top. There is a nice small bar and food area to the side of the check in desk, not expansive but does the trick. There is plenty of room for the morning breakfast bar, more on that later. Check-in could have been smoother, but then again you had 3 colleges graduating that weekend, Mother's Day that weekend, and I found out later going out to eat even proms going on locally...quite a challenge for a newer hotel. A lot of the rooms were not ready yet even at 430-5p, and made for some frustrations with other guests. I was lucky that my reservation was ready but the computer system wanted to lock up a few times during the transaction. I work in the customer service area, I know how these things go...the staff I worked with handled it well and apologized. The room was very nice and clean, a small suite like studio with a small half divider separating the living room area from the beds. The living room space was ample with great sectional sofa. Good business desk area and even a small mini bar type place with mini fridge. The dressing area was separate from the bathroom, always considered a plus, and the closet was almost hidden beside the dressing area, a sliding mirror door but I think it was a great use of space. Pretty pleased with the room itself. The morning breakfast that comes with the room is about the best complimentary breakfast I've seen in the hotels around. Egg and ham English muffin sammies (tasty and fresh), French toast, doughnuts, bagels, great oatmeal, huge fresh fruit mix (that was awesome), huge spread of fruit juices and milk, coffee machines, and lots of other things I am sure I am missing. Loved it, very satisfying and enjoyable. Bottom line: All in all, a very good experience. Check in on a crazy weekend could have gone smoother, and I did request some wine glasses be brought up to the room at check in that didn't happen (again, they were crazy busy, luckily I had a backup plan). I did pay a bit more than other suites I've secured in the area even with AAA rate but it was a great place and was not disappointed with the service and property overall (check out the pics I nabbed as well). read more

This is a nice hotel and appears to be pretty new. The king rooms are very large and have a nice bed along with a large couch. The hotel also has free breakfast, Starbucks, food, and a bar. The only issue is that there is not much in walking distance. Just a McDonald's and a gas station. Overall, a nice place to stay. read more

I had a really good first stay with this property. Everything was nice, room was large and clean, I was on the 3rd floor near the elevator but was very quiet. Horrible water pressure in this particular room, almost to the point you couldn't wash the soap off. My second weeks stay was a little worse, the room was a little worn, I was put at the end of a hallway overlooking the pool and the doors on the stairs slam closed and shake the walls. The actual door to the room would also slam and was very hard to open. Water pressure was better and shower was larger. My third stay I cut short after the first night. The air conditioner in the room sounded like a train passing by, the filters were packed with dirt. The bathroom vent was so loud you could hear the vibrations through the bed. I checked in with a group and the front desk staff made a mistake and put me in a different room but instead of saying anything they waited until I was gone went into my room took all of my stuff out and stashed it in the managers office. When I came back to my room at 11pm they told me to move my stuff into a different room. Just horrible service. Several of the front desk employees are condescending as s***. They don't give you the floor/side you ask for (there is a bus station next to it and train tracks with train that horns that you can hear, including nights and mornings. Breakfast is below average for Hyatt standards. Didn't even give the water that guests with standing are supposed to receive unless you specifically ask for it. GM is decent and will fix the f'ups of the staff but there are too many. read more

My husband just came back from Deployment so I bought tickets to the PNC arena. This is the best hotel with a complementary event shuttle. Rooms are nicely set up. Updated with a modern look thank goodness. Sheets were white how I like them, sparkles in the shower. One thing I usually run into is a dusty coffee maker. No dust here baby. Really pleased with the front desk and my request for a room with a view. I thought it was so sweet they gave us a free drink from the bar for my husbands safe return. One two issues we came across the iron had brown gunk juice (eww) and almost ruined my husbands white shirt. And one receptionist was really rude. I was shocked about how busy the bar got and the other staff were obviously overwhelmed. And Shantell I believe her name was just walks by with her cup of tea. Really sad she wasn't a team player. And she ignored us for about 20mins before we decided to leave the bar and return to our rooms. I will most definitely would recommend this hotel regardless read more

Once getting settled, I sat on the couch to watch a movie, and about 20 minutes into the movie, 2 bugs ( which appeared to be bed bugs) came over the edge of the couch and walked across my arm before scurrying back behind the couch. Hmm. This was an interesting experience. I stayed for the weekend and my flight landed at 11pm on Thursday. I called to inquire about the shuttle and was told it stops running at 10 and "we'll see you here". When I arrived the concierge was too busy talking to his patrons at the bar to check me in- I waited 20 minutes standing at the desk- it's about 10 feet between myself and the bar. Then on Sunday, I called to inquire about late check out. I was greeted with "Raleigh West Hyatt"- not hello or how may I help you, NOR A NAME. The woman replied "I can do 12:30 latest". Regular check out is noon. No customer service whatsoever. I was in and out of this hotel all weekend and was only greeted once by staff. Pretty disappointing for a Hyatt. read more

They would not give us a refund or let us even keep the reservation and switch it until Dec 3rd. The room itself is nice. The staff and services are not customer focused. There have been a few nice staff. But the main day female manager has been rude to me and my family on more than one occasion. One of the other front desk staff often comes across as rude and unhelpful as well. Also, it will have been 7 days since my room was cleaned. They have a policy that they clean every 4 days. I scheduled my room cleaning per policy (I shouldn't have to ask to have it scheduled) but my 4 days have come and went 3 days ago. Each day there's a different excuse. This is not Ok as the room gets dirty with a dog and kids eating in it every day. I was told that I can change my own sheets...I need the room vacuumed and bathroom cleaned. Now 6 people cannot share one tv. Just overrall was a NO...will not be returning!!! The wash cloth are so thin I can see my hand thru the wash cloth. Stayed here 5/1/15 for business purposes. I loved it! Check-in was seamless and literally took less than 2 minutes. All I did was show the CC I booked online with. Some time throughout the night they slid the print out of my bill under my door. I liked not having to deal with any paper at the initial check in. The room was very clean and had modern furnishings. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and tasted good. They offered a nice selection. This hotel will be my first choice when choosing a place to stay in Raleigh.
