Very disappointing stay. I booked a room with two queen beds for four adults through Hotels.com, but when we arrived we were given a room with only one king bed. The front desk told us the rooms with two beds had been given away and that there was no one available to help that night. After traveling for hours, we had no choice but to stay. To make matters worse, the carpet and walls in the room were dirty. Overall, the room we received did not match what we paid for and the customer service was very poor. read more

We have stayed at Hyatt Place in different cities and this one was our least favorite. The location is good if you are going to events located on the UC Davis campus, but that was probably the best thing about it. We were "upgraded" with a fee to the 4th floor only to discover that our window faced a wall and there was no view whatsoever. Our room felt dated, the shower ran cold, and the night light switch in the bathroom did not work. The elevators took forever. The fees for unsecured parking are disappointing. And the daily breakfast, a highlight at other locations, was pretty bad. Maybe they were short-staffed as the floors in the breakfast area were filthy! Everyone here was so cool and professional. I stay in a lot of hotels and this one is A+ class.

First when we checked in for a large family event with most of hotel being family staying there I had requested adjoining rooms and didn't get. Then all the rest of the party were mainly on the 4 floor and they put us on 2 alone. Rooms were dirty and dank and dark. With a baby we had to change rooms luckily now to 4 with rest of group. Rooms still dusty and dirty. Tub felt gritty. Breakfast included was a disaster. It was Labour Day weekend so surely looking at occupancy they knew to have more staff? At 730 am ran out of cereal on Costco packages totally ran out of all breads and bagels finally more came, ran out of cups then coffee. One person who was nasty and couldn't handle it alone. When we checked in front desk girl tried to tap my card for 400 dollar so didn't work and surely she know there is a limit . They then credited that card but only for the one room so now I needed to call and she didn't handle it at all! Horrid experience! It's a dirty motel with inadequate staffing! read more

I paid $547.85 in full in advance through Booking.com for my stay. However, upon arrival, I was charged again by the hotel for $716.88 without any notice or authorization. When I discovered this duplicate charge, I immediately reported it to the front desk and was told that "the manager will handle it".Unfortunately, despite multiple follow-ups, I was repeatedly told that the manager was not available -- and to this day, a month later. I still have not received my refund or any update. This is not a case of confusion -- it is clear evidence of negligence and poor management accountability. So far so good. But I have not gotten my credit card bill yet (see the one star reviews) so don't know if I got ripped off or not, if I did, another review will follow). But the room was fine, the check in desk was fine, the included breakfast was not what it once was (eggs to order) but it was good. The hotel is on it's next to last legs in some ways, carpets are torn in hallways, and dirty beyond deep cleaning. Parking fee of $17.50/night is not announced until you check in, and they do not give you a chit for the dashboard, or ask for license plate # so I wonder if it is enforced. On railroad track side but that was fine, not loud, not often, a horn, and diesel locomotives, but well sound proof. Others in our group rented a B&B which was great, and, for 6 people, including a kid, much less expensive, but the reservation had to be made too far in advance for us. read more

Very nice hotel, check in was easy, room was clean, internet worked fine, free breakfast was superb, rooms are like suits. Parking is plenty and free. TV had good channels. Coffee maker and fridge worked. They also have pool but I did not try it. Only issue is that train tracks are close so there might be slight noise. read more

I stayed here during a conference and had a pleasant experience! Easy check in and check out procedures. Friendly staff at the front desk, and the room I was in was pretty quiet. Actually, the hotel in general (except the door into the room) was really quiet, unlike many hotels in downtown which are next to the train tracks. They serve breakfast in the morning which is great. The bed was comfortable, and I like how there was a couch and a nice desk to sit in. Plus, a fridge? Yes please! It's also on campus and a quick walk to the arboretum walk! One star off because the bathroom wasn't the cleanest - the walls could definitely use a wipe down. In addition, the doors make a really loud sound when closing unless you're super intentional about being quiet. I'd love to stay again the next time I visit! read more

The Hyatt Place UC Davis is convenient to stay here because it's close to the UC Davis campus which is right down the road. It is also close to downtown Davis college town with many restaurants and shops. Getting onto a freeway access is near. The free hot buffet breakfast is great to start your day. Assorted breads for toasting. Assorted cereals including hot oatmeal. Three types of juices. Coffee & hot tea. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, meat (changes daily). Yogurt. Fruit salad. Fresh fruits of bananas, apples, oranges. The hotel room was spacious. Bedroom area partitioned from the sitting area that had a sofa (bed) and seat. A desk area. A mini fridge. Comfortable, clean, spacious room. We always stay here as the staff are so friendly and accommodating when visiting UC Davis. read more

Nice place for an overnight stay near UC Davis. Easy to walk to the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Gardens for a stroll or to explore the over 100 acres of gardens and redwood groves. Breakfast is grab and go due to the pandemic. Bagels, fruit, muffins, yogurt and cereal. Coffee and hot tea are available in the lobby. Pool was refreshing for a short swim after a long, hot summer day. Surprised at the temperature swings from the 60s to the 100s. Overnight parking is $10. Used a Hyatt Thank You rate for a hotel special rate. I think that UC Davis students staff the hotel. Very professional dealing with a plumbing issue that we encountered upon arriving to our room. read more

Do not stay here, unless you want to waste multiple hours of your time attempting to have an issue resolved & have your money stolen from you. I'm a hilton honors member and typically only stay at Hiltons. Due to location and last minute booking I booked this Hyatt. I booked through Hotwire and paid in advance for my 3 night stay. After the first day I noticed a charge on my credit card that was unauthorized. I had been told at check in I would have a hold on my card for $20 for each night I stayed. Come to find out I had a $490 charge on my credit card. It was not pending. It was a charge. I called that same day I noticed while I was sitting at my daughter's soccer game (the reason for travel being to watch her play in a three day tournament). I called in the morning at 9:00am and was told I would receive a call from a manager later in the day. Come 7:00 pm I went ahead and called back since nobody ever called me. After a 45 minute off and on hold with the manager of the day on (who was busy helping guests and attempting to assist me) I was told I needed to speak to a different manager who was above her. So I waited more & spoke to this woman. I had to give this particular manager all the details from Hot wire booking such as rate amounts I paid, ect as she attempted to figure out what happened. I did all of this while at dinner with my daughter's team. I originally was in my car attempting to take care of it prior to the dinner having plenty of time (so I thought). It ended up I had to take the call with me on the drive to dinner and have my headset on through the first half of the dinner. It was a lot to ask of me after I had just waited all of that time. I was told I could call back or visit the front desk once I was back at the hotel. In which I did. I was told I would need to speak to manager Evelynn. So all of the information was taken yet again and I was told I would be called back the following day. I never received a phone call. So I on my own called again. I again explained everything and gave all of the information. She took my information informed me she would call be back when she returns to work on Monday. At this point I was frustrated and asked to speak to her supervisor. I was told his name is Juaquin and that is was out of the country and would be back Monday. She gave me his email. I wanted to speak on the phone and have the matter resolved. Not go back and forth explaining myself again after already having to. So I waited Sunday then called the next day. I asked to speak to manager, Juaquin. He of course was unavailable. I was told yet again by the manager who attempted to help me on the night I was on hold for 45 minutes that I would need to speak to Evelynn. I was referred again to speak to Evelynn. I explained she was the one I had already spoke to more than once and she was unable to assist me and I didn't want to keep waiting and wanting to speak to Juaquin. I know someone at that hotel can help me. Yet after 4 days, all I have been given is the runaround. I have $490 taken from my credit card by Hyatt that is still owed to me. I've never once had a manager call me back like they said they would after leaving my name and phone number more than three times. This hotel is truly a joke! The professional ability to handle issues is non-existent. It would have been worth it to me to travel farther from the soccer complex I was in town for just to be able to stay at a Hilton. I have never had any sort of issue like this. I now have to call my credit card company and report fraud in my card since the management staff at this hotel is completely incompetent and I don't want to continue taking time out of my life to continue to call them and repeat the issue I'm attempting to have resolved. I ended up leaving the hotel a day early out of pure frustration & worry I would be charged again without the ability to have it fixed. I was called by the highest up manager at the property today & told that they can't figure out how to get my money refunded and it's across the board an issue for Hyatt due to them changing service platforms. His best advice was to file it as a fraud charge on my credit card. So legitimately I had $490 stolen from my by Hyatt. Good luck to anyone who provides a card card to Hyatt! Be prepared to have money stolen from you after checking in for incidentals because they have no idea how to fix what is going on. It will now take 60-90 days for my credit card company (I know others don't take that long) to give me an answer and refund. So I get to carry a higher balance & pay interest on the amount they stole from me or I will have to pay it off myself in hopes I'll get the money reimbursed. Compliments of Hyatt! read more

Plumbing improve your plumbing. No water pressure. Sink leaked and flooded bathroom. Had to move rooms at 9pm to the only one left. It had not been cleaned it had bugs crawling all over. Breakfast was cold no matter the time we went to eat from 6:40-9am. Coffee was the only thing good about this place. I have stayed several times while visiting my daughter at college and each time we stayed the water pressure was non existent which made taking a shower impossible. When I checked in they were painting the wood trim around doors to rooms pretty much any brown trim but there were industrial fans blowing the entire week I was here. Where were they blowing? Into the wash room. I started wondering how much water damage has happened throughout this place. The ceilings in lobby all water damaged. Maybe they paint that next. The fans blowing into the laundry room where they wash towels and bedding. They do right. Wash them? But why so many fans blowing into that room. So many like 20 fans. What happened in the laundry room it took more than a week to dry out. Did I mention the bugs crawling in the room first the bed then I said no it must be my eyes cuz I haven't slept all week then one on ceiling then one by door. No thanks I checked out early. A refund for my entire Stay would be the responsible thing to do here. read more

Check in was easy. Room was large and bed was comfortable. Had a mini fridge. There's a little counter by check-in where they can get you a glass of pretty bad wine or beer, or espresso drink. Breakfast was pretty terrible quality-wise. Pool area wasn't very inviting. Just concrete, and had to drag out my own loungers and side table, which were all stacked in a corner. My daughter has attended UC Davis for the past 4 years. We have enjoyed staying at the Hyatt on many occasions during that time. They are always very kind, helpful and professional. The provided breakfast is plentiful. They have been very creative recently in making sure they can still provide breakfast in a very safe way. The whole facility is very clean, and the rooms are super spacious and comfortable. We visited the pool and used the gym. It is necessary to make a reservation for a time slot, but at least it was possible. The only negative I can think of is that you still have to pay for parking on the weekend, even though parking is free on campus during the weekend. We have never been provided a reasonable explanation for this situation. We ask every time, and I typically hear others ask about it as well. Regardless of the normal Hyatt business model, it seems as though they should allow for free parking on the weekend. It just seems to be the right thing to do. read more

You know how much you appreciate a tepid shower after a long day? Me neither. No hot water no matter how long I let it run. I asked the front desk if they was anything to be done to get hotter water and was told that they would check and call me back in 5 minutes. Never received a call! When I checked in I asked about Covid-19 cleaning protocols and was told that they wiped down all surfaces with alcohol wipes and usually give wipes to customers but they were out. The Continental breakfast was minimal: yoghurt, sugary oatmeal cups, bananas right out of the refrigerator, no GF option. The room was nice and clean, bed very comfortable, AC worked well, but the lack of hot water is a show stopper for me. read more

I had high hopes for this place but unfortunately it came up a little short. If you're doing stuff at UC Davis the location can't be beat, so I don't regret staying here, but I might try a different place next time. Pros: The bed was super comfortable, sheets and pillows seemed new and were clean. I appreciated the blackout curtains and slept really well. The location is pretty quiet. (vs. some other hotels in Davis which are downtown and great, but close to the train tracks.) Parking is easy. I also liked the couch and fridge in my room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Cons: Not super clean, frankly. Some stains on the walls, everything is a little beat up, lots of grime on the baseboards, etc. The bathroom had some toothpaste spattered on the wall and a sink that drained slowly/was semi-clogged. It didn't seem like the room had been vacuumed. I didn't have any toiletries in my bathroom when I arrived and had to call down to the front desk for some. Breakfast was okay, lots of options, but I wished they had had non-dairy milk options, even just a carafe of soy milk or something. I might actually stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

We have stayed here twice before. once we booked with hotel.com and other through hyatt loyalty club. this time through hotel.com. Rooms were ridiculously expensive, 390 a night, but we loved this place. 12 hour road trip layer, checked in and hostes was just cold and not friendly. got room keys for 4428 and left to unpack. daughter went to room first, couldn't open room. wife went to desk, keys reprogrammed, and went to room. open door and there are people asleep in room. we go back to front desk and hostes gives attitude as to why we told her the wrong room. we told her to look at card holder and she wrote 428 instead of 426. all her fault. some guy in background just kept saying sorry, sorry, sorry. So, finally got to room. I go to bathroom and floor tiles cracked and loose, mold around entire bathroom wall, and a piece of food left under ac by the bed. Wtf!? Disgusting and unacceptable. Never staying there again. I did not go back to front desk because I probably would have gotten in trouble le for what I would have said. Stay away from this place! read more

The good: Friendly front desk lady, who was very helpful at night and upgraded us to the top floor. The room is clean. The king bed is comfortable. Has a swimming pool 6am-10pm. The bad: AC machine does not let you adjust anything (temperature, turning on/off), so it was uncomfortably cold. Hair drier was weak, only one setting, and only got warm after 3 minutes. I came in on a Tuesday evening and the man at the front desk was very nice. He checked me in quickly and informed me of the breakfast times. He was helpful to also give me complimentary waters and toothpaste when I asked for them. I also had a problem with the TV in my room and he offered me another room. I think the rooms in this hotel are great though and very clean read more

Exceeded my expectations. Most definitely worth the few extra bucks from a cheap hotel and if you are going to Davis it is 4 minutes away. Priced really well and affordable. Especially for all that they have available!!! Well worth every cent!! I should've trusted my yelpers but didn't check reviews- Came in on a Sat night, paid $100 more than every other hotel in Davis. Have never been to Davis before so I thought the proximity to the school was necessary- as it turns out, everything is super close so didn't matter. Was expecting what I paid $260 for- and $100 more than every other hotel in town that night- a simple clean and modern room- got something out of the 90's. Dirty stained carpet, dark dreary mildewy bathroom. Odd room from 1995 & large layout that didn't do much. Slightly moldy smelling ac. Oh- and had to pay for parking...THAT was some boloney right there. If you look at the photos from yelpers 5/6 years ago- NOTHING has changed. Complete disappointment. Oh and the walls are paper thin. There was a teen soccer tourney in town-heard everything everywhere. Same tourney still in town at HI Express and couldn't hear a thing. Stayed one night out of pure exhaustion from driving up from Santa Barbara- then went to the Holiday Inn express for the remaining 4 days of our stay.... Like night and day. The Hyatt Place is a nice hotel located on the campus of UC Davis. I checked the Yelp reviews on this hotel before making reservations. The reviews did not steer me in the wrong direction. I stayed here while on a business trip. I did not make the same mistake as my last business trip when I reserved a room for the wrong night. I arrived before noon and checked in. The room consisted of an area with a sofa for watching the large screen television, a table for your computer, a table for coffee, the sleeping quarters, a bathroom area with a separate area for the toilet and shower. It was well designed and was a comfortable room. The room had blackout curtains to keep the light out for a good night of sleep. The faucet was the only thing that did not work properly in the room. Every time I turned on the water by lifting the handle, gravity would take hold of the handle and lower itself back into the off position. The hotel has a free breakfast in the morning. They had the usual danishes, bagels, toast, and donuts. The had fresh cut fruit consisting of honeydew, cantaloupe and grapes. They also had grapefruit. Their hot foods consisted of oatmeal, a breakfast sandwich, something that looked like a pizza, and waffles. They also had milk and juices. I took a breakfast sandwich and some waffles for breakfast. The breakfast sandwich was not good. I thought it was dry. The waffles were overly toasted. It was crunchy. I could not cut it with a knife. The oatmeal that I took after I dumped the waffles and sandwich was okay after I mixed in some of the other ingredients like brown sugar, cranberries and raisins. The fresh fruit probably was good since they didn't grow it. The hotel is on the campus of UC Davis. They have a man made river running through the campus. It is a relaxing stroll to the river. It is a beautiful campus. Overall, I thought this was a nice hotel. The room I was in was good. They gave me a nice comfortable room. It would've been nicer if the faucet didn't have the automatic gravity shutoff. I definitely would stay here again, as long as I make the reservations for the correct day. read more

UC Davis anyone? The largest of all University of California campuses, UCD is a hit. But where to stay when visiting campus? Perhaps Davis's newest property -- the budget-minded Hyatt Place, which adjoins UCD's visitor's center and is about a $30 Uber ride from the Sacramento airport. The hotel is literally "on campus" so sleep in before your meeting. Pretty and clean, this hotel offers one of the best locations in all of Davis. Walk downtown, walk onto campus, walk everywhere. In fact, you must walk, as the "free shuttle service" touted on their web site ("Free shuttle service offered within a 5 mile radius, every day from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.") and offered to me at check in ("just let us know where and when you want to go") was non-existent with no apologies offered. "Not today," said the same young man at the front desk when I was, in fact, ready to go. The shuttle van itself sat right in front of the hotel, so close and yet so far. Minus two stars for exceptionally poor service in that regard. Rooms are large, comfy and cozy; all include one king or two queen beds as well as a full sofa bed. No restaurant at this property, but free hot breakfast for all guests and that is a nice touch. Go Hyatt! Hyatt Place, that is. read more

Great location if you have business in the UC Davis campus. The beds are very comfortable. Otherwise the hotel is located by the train tracks and highway and it can get noisy depending which room you are in. When the train passes the hotel shakes like it's a small earthquake. I am not sure how safe this is for the building's structure to be shaken like that every day. read more

I didn't like that the phones in my room didn't work (that was annoying). Also it's time for them to update their TVs and get smart TVs so that hotel guests can use Netflix and other streaming services. Hello?! I'm in the middle of binge-watching "Love Is Bling" and watching it on my phone just isn't the same. BTW, I really recommend that show - it's hysterical. People declaring their love and proposing marriage after 4 days because they're confined to "pods" like hostages. read more

I loved my room. I stayed Halloween Night. I am sure that occupancy was down and so they were able to meet all of my needs. I checked in with Rocio! She was amazing. I felt very safe there. She was standing behind a plexiglass area to check me in, wearing a mask. I checked in with snacks and a beverage in hand. My 1st room had a shower only, no bath tub. I called down and within a few minutes, I was opening the room to my lovely, very spacious room WITH A TUB. Thanks Rocio. It was extremely quiet. I could not hear highway noise or people next door or from upstairs. My room was very clean. It was large with a sitting area to watch tv or to just sit and read a book. Everytime I came in from leaving, I was greeted, very very nice touch. They did have a breakfast the next morning but I had to get home. read more

I stayed here with my boyfriend on a cycling tour from Sacramento to wine country. As usual, I loved my experience at this Hyatt. The staff were incredible, making us feel safe and valued as guests. We had a lovely, clean and spacious room with plenty of amenities. The morning staff were very helpful in the breakfast area and made excellent espresso beverages. The location is walking distance from downtown Davis and also right next to the welcome center on campus. You can stroll through the arboretum, or get on the cycling trails with ease. read more
