Last year they had Starbucks, however, I was told it's closed already. So there're cafe open early morning till 1-2pm. Weekday and weekends are different schedule. restrooms are for only hotel guest if you're already checked out, you'll need to ask the front staff. They're pretty busy all day and have long line :( Coffee machine is at the lobby areas but it's not free. $4. you'll need to make an payment. If you're staying longer and like to get connected with locals, there're Trader Joe's/CVS/711 are walking distance approx 7min or take bus 1stop. Hotel Staff are extremely nice. OK, listen. This place used to be one of the best places in town when I would stay in Bethesda for work. Now it's just a great deal. The prices have fallen significantly and they haven't done too much upkeep/remodeling. If you are traveling for business and just need a quiet place to stay that is mostly clean and not too expensive, here you are. If you want a very clean, perfect and pay double the price you go to the Marriott down the street. Wi-Fi works great and the noise is low and the sheets are always clean. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with how my reservation was handled. My room was canceled at the last minute because the front desk attempted to process my card prior to my arrival and the payment did not go through. Rather than contacting me to resolve the matter, the hotel chose to cancel the reservation and only notified me afterward. I had been traveling and driving all morning, so learning that I no longer had a room upon arrival was both stressful and unacceptable. A simple phone call could have prevented this situation. This reflects a serious lack of consideration and poor customer service. Based on this experience, I am very hesitant to book with this property again. read more

My family and I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. I'm not sure why the Hyatt website includes a checkbox for "hypoallergenic/featherless" bedding, as it seems to be more of a suggestion than a guaranteed service. Outside of true five-star Hyatt properties, we've consistently encountered confusion around this request--and this stay was no exception. We arrived at 10:30 p.m., and it took until nearly 1:00 a.m. for housekeeping to fully replace all feathered items. Initially, we were moved to another room that also had feather bedding, and it took three separate housekeeping visits to finally get the correct items. Because it was so late, I had to help the staff remake the bed myself, and even then, it felt makeshift at best. The following morning, I specifically called the front desk to remind them we would be out for the day and asked to ensure our room received housekeeping service. They assured me it would. However, when we returned later that evening, the room had not been serviced. When I called down to ask why, the first question I got was whether we had hung the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door (we had not). Eventually, someone came by to make the bed and take out the trash. That night, we requested an electric kettle. After waiting over 30 minutes, someone called to confirm if we meant a "hair kettle," which was baffling. At every turn, there seemed to be a breakdown in communication. I fully understand and support if a hotels adopting more sustainable practices like limited housekeeping, but I was assured this hotel had daily house keeping so this wasn't the reason to the mishaps. To be fair, the front desk staff were polite and apologized, but given the number of issues, something beyond a simple verbal apology would have gone a long way. Nope, nothing was offered, even the complimentary bottle of water wasn't restocked daily. As a Hyatt Explorist, I don't expect special treatment, but a basic acknowledgment of status or mention of a room upgrade (even if unavailable) would've been appreciated. None of that occurred. Another small but confusing issue: hotel signage in the parking garage. Although signage on all levels directs you to the "hotel elevator," only P3 allows access to the hotel lobby via the conference area. P1 and P2 were misleading in that regard. All these being said, I'll give credit where it's due: the hotel itself is modern, with comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and efficient elevators. The location is excellent--close to the metro, restaurants, CVS, and Trader Joe's. There is a Starbuck right at its lobby. Overall, this property falls short of the four-star (and occasionally five-star) service one typically expects from a Hyatt Regency. Maybe your experience will be better than ours--but ours, unfortunately, was not. read more

Welp...we're not doing that again. Let's start with parking - Difficult to find and difficult to park. Once I drove down two levels, past the completely empty EV stations, I found a spot, and parked. The elevator to the lobby didn't work, so I climbed my way back up the down ramp into oncoming traffic, onto the street, and walked a block in the rain to the lobby to... ...the check in. They couldn't find my reservations. I showed them on my phone, and gave the guy the res #. Still nothing. The gent asked to "have a seat over there" while he scuttled off to the back to troubleshoot. Oh good, I was only driving for four hours...I need a seat. A half an hour later, and Miracle! They found it. They asked for a $100 deposit on a $100 room (which is ridiculous), and I made my way to... ...the room. It was...fine...and I mean that as an insult. It wasn't dirty, but it wasn't fresh, or cool, or well appointed - nor did it come with a "wow" view, or a cute maid. Only fineness... I was thoroughly underwhelmed. I checked out after not having breakfast...because they don't have breakfast, and went to work, then drove back to Philadelphia. I waited a couple days to see if my deposit was refunded. It was not. Instead, they added another $100 fee to my card...on top of the other $100 deposit...on top of the hundo I spent in the first place. I was now up to $300 for a $100 room. We're moving in the wrong direction people. The aftermath. Deposit not refunded. To remedy the problem, I tried to find the number for the actual hotel online, but most google searches reveal "chats" with 3rd party booking agents. It took me an hour to get the right number, and another 42:03 on hold before they were able to even locate my less than a week old reservation. The gent assured me that the reimbursement would be issued in 5-10 business days. Why not just do it now?? I'm still waiting for those 2 bills, but I'm not holding my breath. There are a dozen nice hotels within earshot of the Hyatt Bethesda...so I've learned my lesson...I won't be doing that again read more

I paid for this room and made my reservation a month in advance. I also shared in the notes that we'd be celebrating my husband's birthday. When I checked in the receptionist shared they no longer had the room I booked, a standard king room, and were over booked. We had to settle on a queen room as that's all the hotel had available. We stayed here with many other families for a soccer tournament. I would not recommend. We planned booked room block months in advance, they ended up putting all of our families all thru out their 12 floors, the doors to the steps were locked and you were unable to use them, the elevators were broken and the wait to use a working elevator was excessive, their parking garage is pricey and low clearance not allowing half of our families vehicles entrance, the hotel staff was minimal making every line at the reception desk or their eatery excessive, the free coffee never full, only the member paid coffee is tended to. I came for a business travel and meeting. After waiting for 2 1/2 hours, I was checked in (they told me when I arrived that they had no room available as it was 8:30am. This hotel is very outdated, dirty and dusty! From the pics you can see how damaged the bath tub is. I was put in to this double queen instead of my corner king room,because of early check in with a $50 extra charge for early check in! The room is right by the elevator (which they didn't mention). Any other descent hotel would have informed me and not charged me extra to check me in if they have room ready as courtesy for their customer. read more

Horrible. Very dated and sterile. Valet services stood around doing nothing. No assistance with luggage. Cars were left so drive up was blocked. Check in was slow with not a smile in sight. First room they put us in the toilet was broken. When we asked for an umbrella it seemed like we were requesting the Queen's jewels. No breakfast accommodations other than a pathetic Starbucks. Can't imagine why Hyatt Regency allows their name on this property. read more

Stayed in this hotel for 3 weeks and everything was wonderful. We were given the corner room so it was spacious. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the pillows can be better but the best feature for me was the shower in the bathroom. The water pressure was so strong and the hot/cold works almost immediately as you turn on the shower knob. The cleaning ladies were amazing. They were all smiles and greeted us politely each time. The valet guys were nice too. One thing that the hotel should improve on hence minus 1 star are the FRONT Desk Clerks. They are just always standing there like robots. No smiles, no hello at all which can go a long, long way for guests like us. On our last 2 nights I was surprised to be greeted with a smile and a Hi with a new face. I told my husband I needed to check his name tag. I think his name was "Leopoldo". How I wish this hotel will have more clerks like him making guests feel welcome and at home. The hotel does not offer breakfast but Starbucks and Brown Bag are just on the first floor of the hotel. Other plus, plus, plus that this hotel offer is the FREE water bottle refill service on each floor, a 24-hr. Gym on the second floor and a FREE Laundry area on the 8th. Helped us out with parking due to "the wait" (which wasn't long at all!) and gave us $15 Starbucks vouchers (1 per person) for the morning. I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency at the Bethesda Metro and was quite pleased. It's clean and, owing to a renovation in 2017, it is not run down and ragged. Hotel staff were courteous; however, they did not answer the phone when I called from my room. This matches a trend I note in several industries whereby customer contact is kept to a minimum. The decor is very nice in the room in which I stayed and this applies to the hotel generally. The clean lines aesthetic will appeal to a wide audience. The King mattress offered good and firm support, but the four pillows were all too soft and not filling their cases. The sink in the bathroom as well as the tub did not drain well. These are minor things in the grand scheme of things, but if anyone is listening and if management is interested in how things can be improved, well these are a few suggestions. The very large television worked well and offered the usual cable channels. The rooms come with a microwave, no refrigerator, and a safe on the shelf in the closet. If the safe door is open and you are about 5'10" and above, you had better be careful not to hit your head on the safe door while accessing your clothes hanging. Otherwise, you will enjoy a peaceful night's rest. It is well colocated with the Bethesda Metro stop, which is a strong point, especially if you are coming into Union Station on Amtrak and your business or purpose is in this part of Maryland. You are half an hour away from Union Station on the Red Line. Simple. If you need to get around, Lyft seemed to be better than Uber. The breakfast voucher is used at the Starbucks accessed from the spacious lobby. This is a very nice hotel and is a fairly good value. Three and a half stars. read more

Check-in: thankfully there was no mad rush, or long lines...two guys at the front desk, both masked, looked up my reservation, added a credit card for a $50 deposit for incidentals and voila done. I had Rm 322, which faces the street - front of hotel. Room: upon getting to the room, I noticed it had a little tag that says Clean and Sealed (see pic). However, the room door knobs were dirty with finger prints, tub felt slimey and slippery to touch. The air quality was fine until it was time to go to sleep - during the course of the night it felt like I was suffocating, the AC was on 69° which goes on and off automatically. But it felt like I was breathing in dust; not sure if this has anything to do with the HVAC system, I want to hope they upgraded the air filtration system prior to reopening. Room Service: None, at least not the night I stayed. The person called out. I called Morton's for delivery, they too weren't doing it unless they charged 15% of bill as delivery fee. Parking: there is a parking garage located onsite, which ranges in pricing; after 4PM $8, and $24 for in and out privileges. The elevators are hella old and hotboxes with no A/C. I pressed the button that said Hyatt, which took me up to the ground level and I had to walk around to the front of the hotel entrance. The easiest way was to go to P3, through the glass doors, which brings you into the hotel lower level. Take the elevator up to Lobby, which is the Main Lobby of the hotel. It kind of sucks either way if you have luggage, because they don't have carts on any of the parking levels and you will need to make two or more trips regardless. Overall Cleanliness of Hotel: the lobby is pleasing and the rooms decent. But I just don't feel like it's on Regency standards. Glad it was just one night. A huge must-know, most stores close at 8 PM; Morton's was open until 9 PM. I came with someone who has stayed at this hotel prior to COVID, and according to them the hotel declined immensely. I say at best it's a firm 3 stars, no higher no lower. I would look to stay elsewhere if ever back in the area. read more

Claims easy access to DC area, but elevator to METRO is out of service. Used to have elevator access to METRO. Elevator is boarded up without any indication or notice of reopening. The Hotel website provides no information on how to access METRO, even though it sits atop the Bethesda Metro Station. One has to go outside and find a METRO elevator across the street or around the corner, or else face 2 long sets of stairs. The latter is of course not ADA compliant. There are many hotels that do provide direct access to METRO. The subway itself is fast, clean, safe, and convenient. read more

Had a pretty good time during my stay at Hyatt! Our room was clean and the hotel decor looked pretty nice! Loved how the rooms had lots of outlets and plugs. The wifi was intermittently good but not sure if it was because another conference was going on at the same time. Elevators are pretty cool cause its clear so you see yourself ascend/descend but the hotel key cards take a little longer to register so make sure you see the green light before you try pressing your floor buttons. The gym room was also clean and well equip. Seemed like machines were all working and had water both times I was there. Self parking is $24 without in/out benefits with a good amount of parking options on the P3 I believe. Cleaning staff was super nice and smiley! Price performance was great for the weekend we stayed. Location was pretty solid too cause it was walking distance to a lot of restaurants/shops, close to other hotels, and right next to the metro train stop. read more

We checked in on a Friday for a wedding and @30 min after being in our room a random worker walked in our room. He wasn't housekeeping and there was never an explanation as to the reason why he just walked in. The hotel was informed. I had just gotten out of the shower so l wasn't dressed as he walked in but luckily I was right by the bathroom door so I quickly shut it. My boyfriend was in the room as well thankfully. I didn't sleep well bc of that. Just never felt safe and secure. Yes, I'm aware that we should've put the chain up on the door as soon as we got in but we just got in from a long drive and you just don't expect random workers to pop in for no reason. This review is solely for the bar at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda. They have a separate menu for mocktails, and they offer 3 different mocktails. When I arrived, they were closing off the kitchen, but they were able to squeeze a final drink in for me! I ended ordering a creme brûlée as well and a fruit/yogurt spread. Food was delicious. There wasn't really anything special about the mocktail but it was delicious. It has a great environment with the bar and smaller higher tables nearby. There was soft background music. I love how I was able to hear others while enjoying the ambiance! Fantastic place for a short date. read more

This is an old hotel. It will never feel new and this one doesn't despite being updated fairly recently. Big TV, huge king room with tons of windows overlooking the Children's Museum Courtyard. Very loud HVAC unit that seemed to cycle on and off constantly and very close to the bed so not the most serene sleeping environment. I recently stayed at this establishment, which, unfortunately, did not live up to my expectations. Upon arriving, I learned that the primary elevator from the parking garage was out of service. While trying to find another way to the hotel lobby, I ran into an employee that directed me to another elevator, which he informed me closes at 6pm. Thus, you have to use a third elevator - from the ballroom - to get to and from the hotel lobby at all hours of the day. Imagine someone arriving after 6pm, unaware of the maze of elevators one has to navigate to simply check-in, who has to carry/wheel their luggage up the steep parking garage entrance. Said entrance is very narrow, steep, and only designed for cars. Ergo, it's challenging for guests to navigate this parking ramp safely. And Hyatt positions the Regency brand as one of their upscale offerings? For a premium offering, this check-in experience leaves much to be desired. The lobby has a rather sterile, clinical vibe with little to no decor, and a broken escalator (yes, two elevators and an escalator are out of service). Furthermore, the staff uses laptops to check you in, giving off a very amateur hour vibe. It feels more like you're checking into a weekend conference vs. a nice hotel. Upon first walking into my room, I encountered a mysterious blend of odorous scents, indicating that someone had previously smoked in this non-smoking room. While quite spacious, the room was also devoid of decor. There was no character or charm that made it feel welcoming or inviting. It was simply a place to sleep. Hyatt also only cleans your room once every three days. And this is supposed to be an upscale hotel? Additionally, the ballroom space, which you have to travel through each time you make a trip to the parking garage, had a very unpleasant, funky smell that lingered throughout the entire stay. I would have expected the hotel staff to do something about it, but it seemed like they were either unaware or simply did not care. On a positive note, this establishment is conveniently located right next to a metro stop, and the staff was extremely courteous and professional. That said, there are a plethora of hotels, in this area, mere minutes away from the aforementioned metro stop. If you find yourself in this area of Bethesda, I recommend staying elsewhere. read more

The hotel's location is great and visually, the lobby and rooms are very attractive. Beyond that, it was terrible. To get from the parking garage to the hotel, you had to walk along the same narrow lane as where cars were entering and exiting because none of the elevators worked. That's dangerous because those lanes are super narrow and tight curves. When we checked in, the staff assured us we would have a cot. When the cot did not arrive, we tried calling the front desk to check. Guess what? The phone in the room does not work. Walk down to the front desk. Still says the cot will be there and yes the phone will work. None of that is true. I called the main hotel number from my cell and was told of course not, no cot for you, we are all out. The beds were mushy and none of the sheets were long enough to be tucked into the side or end of the bed which was super uncomfortable for sleeping. The next morning there were still hotel guests including children wandering up and down those parking lot routes with luggage. I hope I never have to stay in this location again. read more

I have stayed at this hotel for the last 3 or 4 times for work and each time I have no complaints. I had to stay for a week at a time each time I travel. The Valet and dest workers are so helpful. It is hard to find a place to stay and feel at home, but this place has nailed it! It has a Starbucks attached to the hotel, a high end restart (SO GOOD) and another little lunch.breskfast spot. You can walk to Target near by, many restaurants, and little shops. read more

You need to understand that this Hyatt is a franchise owned hotel, meaning Hyatt is not running it, and Hyatt can not help you if you have a problem. I stayed there recently and enjoyed myself. I checked out and the bill was correct. Then I got my credit card bill and there was an additional $500 charge put on days after I checked out. I was never notified about it, and only noticed because I reviewed my credit card statement. I called the hotel and they informed me they have a sensor in the room that detected smoking during our stay, and we were fined $500. I assured them that this was a mistake as my wife and I do not smoke, and we certainly would never being that we were sharing the room with our 3 young children. The employees I spoke with said they are not allowed to refund me. I had a lengthy conversation with the general manager, Amit Verma, who simply refused. He said that his technology can't be wrong. I was told if I disagree I could dispute it with my credit card, but they will submit the sensor report, and I will lose the dispute. Next I called Hyatt Customer Care, and they explained all they can do is contact the general manager because it is a franchise run hotel. They reached out and received the same response. The room was nice and quiet and the bed comfortable. Had a pretty nice stay here. Stayed in a king room on the 10th floor with a decent view. The room was mostly quiet and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with great water pressure as well. I docked a star because the parking lot option is indeed disappointing (you have to walk outside to make your way into the hotel and back) and the temperature in the room was too cool. Also, happy hour at the hotel restaurant was delicious but room service fell short. All in all, it was good for a two night stay and I wouldn't hesitate to return if I needed to be in the area again. read more

Please do yourself a favor and do NOT stay at this hotel. If you absolutely have to stay here, please be careful and read this review. The hotel is fine, but be warned that this hotel may use your card to issue fraudulent fees to your card. After staying here for a work event, I received a bill showing no incidental costs - makes sense, as there was no incidental damage. However, a few days later, a $350 charge showed up on my debit card from this hotel. I assumed it must have been an error, so I called the hotel to ask them to reverse it. To my surprise, they informed me that it was intentional and that I was being assessed a "smoking" fee. I explained to the representative that because I am not a smoker, I did not smoke in the room (seems fairly straightforward). She insisted that they had "proof" - I asked her to share it with me, because frankly, there is no possible "proof" they could have for something that didn't happen! She said she would then promptly hung up on me, and unsurprisingly, I have not received any "proof." I did some quick research to see if anyone else had similar experiences, at which point I learned that the Hyatt Regency has past reports of issuing fraudulent smoking fees. Before my trip, I was really looking forward to staying at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, MD. I upgraded to a hypoallergenic room with a king bed for me and my wife. I figured, it'd be great for my allergies. As we went to bed after just after midnight, the television set turned on by itself. Unless the previous guests or the cleaning crew set a wake up, neither my wife or I set the wake up mode. Additionally, the remote control was out of reach for me to even accidentally tap it. Then, I started hearing loud thumps from the ceiling and long gushes of water every few minutes throughout the night. I wasn't scared, I just didn't want my wife to be awakes because we had a huge meeting with a local university the next day for our daughter. I didn't sleep a wink that night. In the morning, I went downstairs to inform the front desk of what happened. They didn't confirm if there had been issues with the room, but they said the room was actually scheduled for it's annual maintenance. I asked, "Why would you book us in the room if you knew you had maintenance scheduled?" They never gave me a straight answer. Instead, they wanted to downgrade our room and drop us from the coo floor (same level as our daughter's room). I said, "Absolutely not!" Marcelo, the manager, placed us in a hypoallergenic room in the fourth floor in a smaller bed. He said he'd add some extra points and give us a later check out tine (1pm). I decided to just accept it even though I really wanted a discount or even a free night. I don't care about the extra points. On checkout day, we were locked out of our room two hours earlier. He never extended our stay. We still needed to get our bags. No apologies from him. Also, on the fourth floor, we were next to some guests who kept trying to open the adjoining door. I had hoped the hotel would have moved us back up to our original room. They never did. I have stayed at many hotels and motels the last 60 years and I have never had such poor service or experience as this one at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda. I'm a reasonable person and don't like to cause dis import for anyone. I don't think we're ever staying at the Hyatt Regency ever again. I'll be writing to the corporate office. read more

We have always stayed at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, because our kids live nearby. Until now, we have had no real complaints. But...on our last visit we were charged $350 because their new type of smoke detector indicated that - we were 'smoking' in our hotel room -- not once -- but twice! This charge was not attached to the hotel bill when I checked out at the front desk, but was a separate charge on our VISA card, which we did not know about until later, when the monthly statement arrived. I received absolutely no help from the Hyatt Loyalty Program Customer Service, as all they did was to contact the hotel, then repeated to me what the manager (or someone else) at the hotel spit-out! Neither myself, nor my wife, have ever smoked cigarettes, or anything else for that matter - Never -- Ever! My documented medical records, and my 30-year military records, have me listed as a: Non-Smoker! Hyatt refuses to remove the $350 smoking-in-room charge! Wouldn't one think that we would have been notified of this infraction upon check-out? Nope! Oh, I forgot to add that - I have competed in 4-Ironman Triathlons, about 20-Marathons, and was the United States Age Group Stair Racing Champion, not too many years ago. Currently I am a Gravel Bike racer (age-group) and I am scheduled to compete in Gravel Worlds Bike Race in 7-weeks ... so, it is extremely unlikely that I (nor my lovely wife) would be 'lighting-up' in a Bethesda hotel room... You may be interested to know that other Hyatt Regency Bethesda guests, are also upset about this 'Smoking Charge'. These charges have a consistent pattern for this dubious $350 charge: * The guests who were charged this $350, more likely than not - were not smoking! * The $350 charge was never mentioned when checking-out. * The $350 charge was only discovered after receiving the monthly credit card statement. * The manager always sent the same 'cookie-cutter' response to the unhappy overcharged guests. He never has considered that this problem is somewhat consistent... * As far as I can determine, this $350 overcharge situation is only happening at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda. Almost 2 weeks after I checked out I noticed this Hyatt was charging me 350.00. When I looked back at my credit card statement, they had overcharged me another 350.00 on the same day I check out and paid my bill. When I tried to call, no one is answering the phone. When I did get a person on the phone they told me I needed to talk to the front desk by pressing "0". There is NO 0 option on the automated menu. I looked online for help, and was only able to pull up my bill. 350.00 was added to my bill 13 days after my stay as a smoking charge. I didn't smoke or use any scented products in my room. Had a great experience staying at the Hyatt for work. The first night we were given a King terrace room with a huge terrace that looked out over the back of the property (away from Wisconsin Avenue). The following 3 nights we had a King standard room with a large sitting area with couch, coffee table, chair, and desk. They held our luggage on the second day and delivered it to our new room when it was ready. All we had to do was stop by and pick up our new keys when we returned from our day of exploring. The staff was great and the newly remodeled rooms were nice. The location is very convenient... just steps away from the Metro Red line entrance. Parking is a bit pricey and with the convenience of the Metro it is better to opt out of a rental car, if you can - even if for a few days. read more

I friggin love it here. I've been here for daaaaays and I had to order new stuff (TP, towels, coffee, etc.) and when I called down to housekeeping, I was greeted by NAME "hello miss Martishius, how was your day today?" (which, by the way, my name happens to be a hard ass name to pronounce) by this sweet ass human named Dylan - it totally surprised me to get such a cheerful greeting and I felt like that was definitely worth noting.
