I was kicked out for drinking WATER. Let me point out by saying I am under the drinking age and understand standards must be set but the way the bouncers were grabbing my friend was unnecessary. We were compliant, but confused. Went to this club optimistically, thinking it would be a great chance for my friend and I to have a good night out for the first time in a while. This was our first time at this club and it was going great for 2.5 hours but then I got thirsty and bought water (served in a cup with ice). Kicked out the first time, bouncer didn't sniff the drink or ask the bartender (who was right next to us) what was served. He backed my friend into a wall after she took a sip, grabbed her waist and yelled at us to get out. Talked to the manager at the front who let us back in and apologized saying that this was the second time that it had happened that night with the same bouncer. We were walking into the club area when we were stopped and told to leave AGAIN. My friend told the bouncer that we were let back because they knew it was water. He was fine with it so we sat down but the bouncer that escorted us out originally walked up and said that HE would be the one to let us in again, not the people up front. They brought us to the front, we were ignored by the manager (thanks for looking at your phone when I was addressing you), they cut off our zip ties and made us leave. I won't be back unless I feel like being treated like trash again. I have NEVER been kicked out of a club. The staff do not care, listen or respect patrons when their mind is made about a certain situation. I just wonder how they make their money off of underage people if they question what is in the drinks that the club is serving to us. I suggest people my age avoid drinks altogether here so you don't get kicked out and waste money. I also suggest the cafe invest in bottles of water and soda so nobody has to be treated like we were. :) read more

Oh Hyde Park Cafe....you are just too cool for me. I have lived in the Tampa Bay area for the past 8 years or so and have visited this lovely establishment a handful of times. If my 23-year-old self was rating this establishment, maybe it would be a star or two higher. However, it is my 30-year-old self rating it, so unfortunately it gets a big fat two stars. I recently went here for a friend's birthday party, and I do admit that I love the fact that there are indoor and outdoor sections. It's nice to be able to hang outdoors on a nice spring night. So we arrive, have our ID's checked and make our way indoors to the bar. At this point, I decide to check in on Yelp and when I do, I get a notification for a free shot just for checking in! Exciting. I present this to the bartender who points to the fine print saying I had to present this at the door and to go check with them. Fair enough. I venture outside and show my check-in offer to the guys working the door, and they said unfortunately, since I did not show that BEFORE I entered, it could not be redeemed. Are you serious? So because I waited until I was actually inside of Hyde Park Cafe before I checked in, my check-in offer could not be honored. Hilarious. I have checked in at so many venues across the country and redeemed offers on the spot. Hyde Park Cafe is the only one who refused to redeem a simple free shot offer. Not a big deal, since I am more than capable of paying for my own shot, but it's the principle of the matter. Maybe if there had been a huge line to get into Hyde Park, I would have checked in then. But, there was no line, and no one inside, so that speaks to how things have changed since I frequented this venue years ago. Maybe it's time for a reality check, Hyde Park Cafe. And start by treating your customers right. read more

Rude manager and very poor performance on the side of the staff. Trouble started at the door. We arrived at 11:10pm with wristbands from Cheap that we were told will let us in for free. We were not let in without paying $5 a pop! 3 of us had Goddess cards but we were told we are late to use those as they are good only till 11pm. The manager was rude and disrespectful when two of the girls tried talking with him about the false advertisement and the fact that each one of us will spend on average of $15 at the bar and yet we are still paying cover despite goddess cards and wristbands. They were so offended they left, the rest had already paid and gotten in so we stayed. The club was semi-empty throughout the night compared to times I've been there before and especially having that it was the weekend before spring break it all makes sense. In addition, every time you go in or out of the club our wristbands were checked and touched like we were part of a herd or something. I do not recommend this club to anyone. It's really not worth the hassle or the $5. I've been to clubs in other states and in Europe and I gotta tell you DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME IN HYDE PARK CAFE. They make this place to be so upscale, it's nice. They advertised Latin night well not too much Latin. I enjoyed the music anyways. Very very crowded place with a mixed crowd. Dress cute and comfortable to have a good time. The blonde waitress at the courtyard cafe was very rude when I ordered a coconut Bacardi with a splash of pineapple (a splash) I asked her to fix it and she gave me an attitude. I pay for it do it how ask for it. Still made the best of it and had a good time. Customer service is very important for business. read more

What a shame this place was empty. Great bars with a large variety, cozy wooden venue filled with seats everywhere and fantastic music in three separate areas. They sell hookahs and have open bar for $10 from 9-11:00pm Fridays and saturfays. Negative part about this bar was that it was empty and the crowd was odd. There was a mix of age groups and dress code, from shorts and flats to dresses and heels. However, it was a good experience, wish there would've been more people. read more

Me and 5 friends just went there last night and were planning on meeting some other friends there. After entering and paying $20 each because we were under 21, even if it was before 11pm, we stayed inside and waited for our group to arrive for 30 minutes. They didn't have money so they didn't come, and when we asked the manager to get a refund, he refused. We left 30 minutes after we arrived. HPC is one of my favorite places in Trampa! It has a nice Florida/Miami vibe in the courtyard when you walk in. Three bars on the outside make it easy to get drinks and a few of them sell handmade pizza if you forgot to eat before boozing. On each side is a room with different types of music. They have hip-hop, Latin, and some really good house music depending on the night Tuesday night used to be one of the busiest nights but on a recent visit, it was dead. Fridays and Saturdays are now the busiest depending on the event. Some nationally know DJ's come though occasionally and is always a good time! read more

I will never be back. When we got there we were told we get free drinks until 11. (We did not know this prior to the arrival so all we brought was our Cards and our ID) they give you a cup you bring up to the bartender and you refill until 11, now they don't charge you for the drink..so we were confused how we should tip because none of us brought cash bc we planned on paying for our drinks and tipping that way. We ultimately decided we'd buy a shot after happy hour and leave a large tip at the end. We came up to the bar in the middle patio to get our last drink before 11. The bartender word for word said " I refuse to serve you. You haven't tipped me all night" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? we proceeded to tell him we planned on tipping after happy hour bc we didn't bring cash. He then said "you've been ordering very difficult drinks (dirty Shirley's) and I could've charged your card a penny and you could've tipped" and we said that's what we planned on doing, buying a shot to charge the card and leaving a tip for the night. He then threw our drinks at us, and got pissy bc after happy hour he has to "share tips" (as if we knew that?) so my friend gave him her card and asked him to charge a penny and he said "no just forget about it". I've NEVER felt so disrespected in my entire life. Needless to say we went over to the other bartender and tipped him but that asshole got nothing. The customer service is the worst I've ever seen. Never caught his name. Never want too. All I know is he was working at the middle patio bar on Valentine's Day & has a beard with brown hair. read more

wow this is by far the worst place i have been to, the DJs cant DJ. there was 8 people in the entire place. all one dj does is whistle . ive been there several times hoping it would get better, but with the type of horrible mixing and music the djs play, they just arent drawing the crowd! never again! read more

As a local Tampanian, I must say, this is by far the best night club I have ever been to! The service is top quality, the ambiance is beautiful, the food is delicious, the music is candy to my ears, and they always have the best drink specials!! This place is legendary!! hpc is prob the longest running nightclub in the tampa bay area. a few things that make the place unique are 1. the staff is like a family. They treat you very nice and it's easy to start a rapport with them due to a low turnover rate with employees. 2. the music...not only do they play the stuff that everyone wants to hear they also have been doing house and techno nights every week for the last 17 years which i can bet no other club in the state of Florida can say the same. music is what the cafe is all about and its always top notch cuz they hire the top djs local and from around the world. read more

Beware ------ check your bank account - I went there on a Friday Night with some girl fiends, had a good time - bought a drink with my credit card which was $11.00 gave cash tip that night instead of my card when I reviewed my bank account I notice they decided to add their own tip of $3.00 and the same thing happened to my friend that night as well she also gave a cash tip and not on her card wow her add on tip was $9.50 - our banks have been notified of the credit card fraud ---------- but beware this may happen to you read more
