Lighting is dim, which is part of the concept. (Auto flash is needed for pics) The joint, is VERY CLEAN! The staff is awesome and very attentive! They understand process. The drinks are SOOO WELL MADE! I had a Zombie as my first drink, and it is very well presented and STRONG! I prefer,my first drink at an establishment to be strong cause then I can lighten it up later. Then I had a Rum Barrel, not as strong, but well presented and delicious! Note: Prices for drinks are worth every dime! They have a small food menu, but everything on the menu looked delicious, but I did not eat there. These are the coolest places in Fla. Secret cryptic entrances with a speakeasy like ambiance. Hidden passages and a clear throwback to the days of prohibition. With all that was going on, it's a wonder we could find the exit after all the drinks. The pirate theme was the caveat. A perfectly dimmed atmosphere and willing performers that can conjure up delicious delights. The red light and point on music only enhanced the experience. After waiting over an hour and a half inside Yeomans,(on Sat Aug 29th) my group of 5 finally received a text, then 2 more right after, stating our table was ready. We walked to the entrance where we came upon the rudest hostess I've ever come across. She stated that we waited too long to respond and she had skipped us. We showed her that we had just received the texts 1 min ago and that it was the service inside the building that prevented us from getting the texts. She responded with more attitude and blaming us for not coming sooner when she clearly saw the time the texts were received. This girl did not do 1 single thing to rectify the obvious signal issue on their part. She only made it worse blaming us and raising her voice. If I could give this service a 0 I would. We intended to try out a new place that intrigued us, but now I will tell everyone I know not to bother, because they have the worst customer service in the history of hospitality. read more

A fun new speakeasy with awesome drinks. FYI if you're looking for clear alcohol, it's not here. My friend said she couldn't find where the vodka drinks were and the bartender said that's because they didn't serve clear alcohol, lol. They do have tequila (I'm guessing not blanco), so if you don't like rum you are still fine. I really appreciate how they only let in the number of people they have seats for. We got there at 6:45 pm on a Friday and they were on a waitlist. It took about half an hour for our party of four to get a text that our seats were ready. This isn't a problem at all since Yeoman is in the same building and had ample seating at the bar. If you order at Yeoman, you can bring your drink over with you. Inside is beautifully pirate themed. I got the Pandan Killer. Just for future Christina, it is good, but I was reminded I'm not a creamy drink lover. Next time I should try something else. Service was fast and friendly. We sampled almost all of the food, we got 4 things there are 5 options ( Wings, Brussels Sprouts , Shrimp , Seared Tuna) we did not try the dates. The shrimp was delicious, a little on the spicy side if you're sensitive but I loved it. Brussels sprouts were also phenomenal! I had the Espresso Old Fashioned ( my drink of choice) and it was very well balanced. My first time in, and I can confidently say this is my favorite bar in Tampa. We came in at 6pm on a Saturday. They don't take reservations, so we were hoping that they had space. The door is unmarked, like a true speakeasy (look for the red light). The hosts led us into the bar through a bookcase on the wall. There were a few tables available as well as many seats at the bar. The interior decor was whimsical and very inline with the pirate theme. Service was prompt. We wound up staying for a couple hours and had a few rounds of drinks, all of which were fantastic and very reasonably priced. The Zombie really is as strong as the menu says it is. The Pandan Killer had a delightful Pandan flavored foam that we both really enjoyed. They did have a small snack menu, but we didn't try any this time. Had a truly awful experience here. At about 9pm on a Friday my party of 5 put our name on a waitlist. Nearly 2 hours later we had still not received any word from them. When we came back to the hostess we were told that we had cancelled our reservation despite never getting a call or text from the establishment. They could not show us any proof of this cancellation and upon further investigation we discovered that the hostess had typed in the phone number wrong and the system cancelled our names from the waitlist (highlighting his lie that he confidently told us that we had cancelled our reservation and that they couldn't see the waitlist communication after it was sent). Due to the error of their end we asked for him to streamline our names on the waitlist and he became combative and told us that he was not comfortable serving us and asked us to leave. We spoke to the manager and they reiterated that they believe we had cancelled our reservation despite having proof that the hostess was the issue. Eventually after speaking to the general manager on duty he was able to magically find multiple open spots for us at the bar and was completely comfortable with serving us despite the allegations made by the hostess. And then after all that waiting, the bartenders were rude, asked us if we were the people causing all those problems at the front, and drinks were awful. Definitely not worth your time. Everyone is rude and you will feel demeaned just for trying to get access to their "exclusive" speakeasy. read more

My friends and I had an extremely disappointing experience at Morgan's Cove Speakeasy, and unfortunately it had nothing to do with the drinks or atmosphere--it was entirely due to how we were treated by the staff. From the moment we arrived, the hostess was rude and dismissive. Because this is a speakeasy concept and we had never been before, my boyfriend asked a few questions before we joined the waitlist. Rather than being helpful, the hostess seemed annoyed by the questions. Shortly after, a barback even made a comment to my friends and me about my boyfriend, apparently assuming we weren't together because of the questions he was asking. It was unprofessional and unnecessary. Despite the poor first impression, we joined the waitlist and waited over an hour. When I checked on our reservation status, the hostess informed me that we had canceled our reservation. I knew that wasn't true. I explained that neither of us had canceled anything and asked him to show me where we had done so. He couldn't provide any proof. A short time later, we returned with my boyfriend's phone to demonstrate that no cancellation had occurred. Rather than investigating the issue or attempting to help, the hostess became defensive and told us he didn't feel comfortable serving us because he believed we were too intoxicated. We were not drunk--we were frustrated because we were being told we had canceled a reservation that we never canceled. We spoke with both a bar manager and eventually the general manager. During that conversation, the hostess suddenly discovered that the reservation had not been canceled at all. Instead, it had timed out because the confirmation text had been sent to the wrong phone number. This completely contradicted what he had told us earlier. Fifteen minutes before, he had confidently stated that we canceled the reservation ourselves. Now he was saying it had simply expired because notifications were sent to the wrong number. At that point, the issue was no longer the reservation mistake. Mistakes happen. The real problem was how the situation was handled. We spent over an hour waiting, were incorrectly blamed for canceling our reservation, were accused of being too intoxicated when we questioned the situation, and were met with resistance at every step instead of any effort to make things right. Eventually they allowed us inside, but the experience didn't improve. The bartenders were cold and distant, and it felt very obvious that staff had been discussing the situation among themselves. We felt unwelcome the entire time and were treated as though we had done something wrong when the error originated on their end. A great hospitality experience isn't about never making mistakes--it's about how you handle them when they happen. Unfortunately, Morgan's Cove failed in that regard. The staff's attitude, lack of accountability, and unwillingness to resolve a situation they helped create turned what should have been a fun night out into an incredibly frustrating experience. read more

These are sophisticated cocktails, mostly rum-based, coupled with Disney-level theming. The drinks I've had have all been phenomenal, across three separate occasions. Yes, it can be difficult to get into; it's small and they do crowd control on busy nights. If you just want a beer or a highball, this probably isn't worth it. They did a good job pacing the entry of the groups so as to not overload the restaurant and staff. They did have some standing room but we noticed those groups were more or less in and out after only a drink or so Overall, I loved the decorations and it really did feel like you were within a ship. Drinks were also great, and one thing I really appreciated was them ranking their drinks based on alcohol strength, so it was easy to be mindful about what we were drinking. For food, they do keep the menu pretty condensed and it's just a few appetizers which we had already prepared for but it is good to keep in mind. What a fun spot this is, and the decoration and ambiance are *chefs kiss* As we walked up to the front entrance on Morgan st there was already a line to get in before opening time, this doesn't surprise me as it's so new. Thankfully, we had reservations and were able to be seated promptly! The entrance was incredibly fun and made you feel like you were in the belly of a ship! They really did an excellent job decorating this spot. Every drink we went with was crafted very well and tasted fantastic. Spoiler alert, the zombie may taste harmless but it will make its appearance before you know it in strength! (Must be why there was a 2 limit!) My real only grip with the spot was they allowed people to be standing around which not only made it crowded but you no longer felt any intimacy with your group. A couple of drunken sailors can really bring a nice conversation to a halt! The prices were far more reasonable than expected geographically, i personally felt the drinks were worth more with their execution and strength. Well done. I was so excited to check out Morgan's Cove as my family absolutely loves pirates and authentic tiki bars. We went on a Sunday evening, and they said they would text us when we could enter. We then decided to check out Yeomen's while we waited, and luckily were able to enter the speakeasy fifteen minutes later. Everything about Morgan's Cove was amazing! The pirate theming vibes, pirate themed music, incredible bartenders, and out of this world drinks. The four of us sat at the bar and had a front row seat of our amazing bartender, Ernesto creating his masterpieces. The four of us had fun trying each other's drinks. It was hard to pick a favorite, and it seemed like every drink I tried was even better than the last. Each drink was presented in a very unique way. My two favorite drinks were the Mac Nut Pearl Diver and the Gaspars Grog, but all the drinks were fabulous! We had such a great time, and I can't wait to visit again. read more
