Well, I'm just embarrassed. As many times as I've been to Hyde Park Cafe, I haven't written a review. Although it's been a while, there was a good period of time where this was my Saturday evening spot. The individual pizzas are tasty, the outside bar area is comfortable, and they have a great selection of beers. Personally, I'm a fan because they keep Strongbow on tap. While I've never ventured inside for more than a quick bathroom break, I can vouch for the atmosphere in their renovated patio. With two bars outside and a third in an enclosed room off the patio, your glass won't stay empty for long. When I was there last, I tended to show up early and cash in on the great happy hour deals. That said, I usually left right around the time the night club scene started to trickle in so I can't comment on how it is after 10:00 p.m. But knowing they have plenty of drinks and scrumptious pizzas, what more do you need? read more

This place is somewhat diverse, considering the scene in Tampa. I usually hang out at the lounge. The bar is more like a juice bar, this because if you order a mixed cocktail (which are not cheap) you Will receive two drops of liquor, a glass full of ice and then a ridiculous amount of mix. In this case, my sister ordered a vodka cran and they seem to have forgotten the "vodka" part. You can even tell from the color of the cocktail served. We are not raging alcoholics, but at the least I should get what I'm paying for. If I wanted a glass of cranberry juice I could probably get two bottles of it at the supermarket, maybe they are in a quest to eradicating the amount of UTI cases :) I guess if you stick to beer you might be in a better position. Whenever I visit Tampa, it's one of my go-to's for the weekend. Especially when they play Spanish songs. Parking is manageable but would recommend Ubering. Do not go here, my friend and I went to tonight and asked about the music they played we where told WB"s played house music, which was techni and that the other side was a mix of hip hop, latin, 80's and 90's....while we where there it was techno on both sides. Which neither one of us like. Went and spoke to manager about refunding us the$20 cover charge because we only stayed 10 minutes, he said no we refund no one's cover charge. As an out of state graduate student, I can understand a bouncer looking at my ID funny. However, what's not acceptable is him snapping it in my face after providing him with a total of 3 forms of ID. He proceeded to tell me my ID was fake and call the Tampa police department to do something about it. So, that's exactly what I did. While waiting for the police to arrive, the manager of the night whom was named Ray harassed my friend and I while we silently waited on the street. Upon arrival, the police officer made it very clear to us that this was not their first time dealing with the horrid, unjust, and unprofessional management at this particular bar. If you want to have a good time, go to M. Bird (a new rooftop bar not too far from the area) or The Kennedy. At least these two establishments have decent management and know how to work within their legal rights. Leaving them one star is too gracious. I was disappointed in my experience here only because of the hype for Hyde. Admittedly, I'm a dork who loves to dance to top 40s and they were playing house; I'm just not cool enough to like house music! It is a cool layout though. Two rooms for music separated by a decent size outdoor patio area fill with lounge chairs. It seems that one room on the left is bigger, has its own bar (about 3 bartenders I think) and always has Latin music going. The other room on the right is their house music, although according to some people they do also play top 40s on some nights. It is smaller than their Latin club but this room as a cooler looking bar. My boyfriend and I came in on Thanksgiving Eve- there was no cover charge for women and men were $5. Not sure what the price is on a normal weekend. The drinks were sufficiently strong so I am willing to come back to see if they play my kind of bootie-shaking music. read more

Uh-huh you know what it is! This is the PRIME place to be when in Tampa. The people are beautiful, the staff friendly, the bartenders hott. It's indoor/outdoor. Lots of table space for those who want bottle service, not too overly crowded. The crowd itself is entertaining to watch. Bartenders are on point with drinks and if you look at them in the eye and compliment them they may just toss you a few free shotsand then some more. One of the BEST bartenders works here. It's even in the paper! He's the guy that's usually doing a few tricks behind the bar.. Definitely will be coming back and looking forward to it. read more

I've been here twice now and I have to say that it's my favorite bar thus far in the whole state of Florida. I've only been in Florida for a little over a month now, but out of the 4 or 5 bars I've been to, I've had the most fun at this place. People are friendly, drinks have been cheap ($10 all you can drink mixed drinks before 10pm), and you can easily walk to many other bars on the same street. Very young crowd, I watched this kid tip the bouncer to get a 21 band so that's already a red flag. Happy Hour is nice, but this is by far the worst bar/club in Tampa past happy hour. Music is okay. Drinks are over priced. Tried booking a VIP table for a birthday and Paula was rude and made everything a hassle. She told me completely different prices than what the manager originally told me, huffed and puffed when I asked questions about tables. She told me not to get dropped off in front of the club with 10 people or they wouldn't let us in the club... what does that even mean? Honestly, one of the best dance clubs in Tampa! I have been coming here since I turned 18 and have not been disappointed. Now, I have gone different nights when they have different genres of music playing and sometimes, this place changes up their nights every few months or so. Right now, Thursdays are Spanish nights. The local Spanish station, 92.5, hosts the night and they have some of the best DJs playing the best music. It's not just Spanish music either, They will mix it up with House music, Top 40, and a little bit of Hip Hop. It's always a dance party. Also, this is when they get the most packed. It's a lot of fun if you're into meeting new people and dancing with anyone. Fridays, are very less crowded, but it's a good change of atmosphere so you're not sweating up a storm! 93.3 hosts this night, and the music is pretty good too. They always have drink specials, such as ladies drink free before 11. There is no cover charge for ladies before 12, and if you get on the guest list, there isn't any cover charge for you all night. 18-20 have to pay only $10 if you're a girl and $15 if you're a boy, but again, if you're on the guest list, no cover charge at all! The place isn't that big either, so if crowds aren't your thing, don't go here on Thursdays. I love this place and will still keep going here for as long as I live in Tampa. read more

If you're college aged, don't worry. The crowd is a little older, but there's ALWAYS enough 18-21 year olds there. Most of them come from UT or USF. The girls are good, but....they range around 24-28 years old. But don't get me wrong, if you're looking for girls in that range then you will find PLENTY. Drinks are expensive, but not b overpriced. They taste well and they use good liquor. Music is EH, but hopefully they'll move towards hotter Florida artists like Slump God or XXXTENTACION. This club has something for everyone! There is an open air cafe courtyard for those looking for a chill atmosphere, velociti room for those seeking house music, and Wally & Bernie's room for those seeking rap and hip hop. They have a great $10 open bar happy hour on Friday's and Saturday's. They are also open on Tuesday nights. This place can get really packed on Friday's but there are 4 bars so getting drinks does not take too long. The only negative is that on Friday's they tend to hold the line and it can take 20min or so just to get in so arrive early at 8 if you can! The dress code is upscale meaning pants and dress shoes are required for men & no flip flops, sneakers, shorts, or t-shirts, etc. So if you are thinking about coming here after macdintons which has a more relaxed dress code you should dress up. This place only opens at 8pm and is not open during the day. They used to offer pizza but they don't anymore. The crowd seems to be 20-30s. There is a lot with free parking located on Rome and they just redrew the street so that there is street parking right on Platt. This place is located across from the Hyde out and 3 blocks from the rest of the Howard strip of bars so there's a lot of after party options available after this place. read more

We had a very fun night here on a Saturday night. New to Tampa and arrived at 9:30 not knowing what to expect. For $10 each it was open bar till 11 pm. Things were pretty quiet until 11:30, but that is a perfect time to come if you want to enjoy a chill drink before things get loud. There is a separate hip hop dance room and a techno dance room. We got there, waited 35 minutes in line, then they tried to charge us $50 to get in despite us being on the list. Best club for deep house music. Went here for a friends' birthday and we stayed until it closed. Great atmosphere and the music just kept us dancing all night long.
