Mopeds were in great condition and the rental service was very convenient I was picked up at my hotel and taken to pick up my scooter. I would have rather the scooter was brought to me but that is my only complaint. to go with a group of the firm depends on what you want to run. If you want to drive fast, and almost feel the sense of a contest, you will have great fun. If you want to go with your girlfriend and drive a little slower, you will not have fun. They had a good info before the tour, but everything went very slowly and we were on the water nearly an hour after. During the intros, it was a man who could not speak English, when the guides got aware of it so he began to laugh at him. Not bad - you get what you pay for 1 1/2 hour race around the island. It can be a bit choppy in exposed Atlantic portions. If you are looking for something at your own pace then you might want to book something other than the Key West Tour. My guide, Dante, a local "conch" was knowledgeable about the area and friendly. We made about 4 stops and swam for a bit on a sandbar. It would have been nice to have a bit more "free" time to "play" on the wave-runners but that's not what this trip is really all about. read more

We had a great experience with hydro thunder. Instead of the jet ski tour, we wanted to be on our own timeline so we rented a 8 person jet boat for 4 of us. Way fun-- probably our best day out in key west! The staff were pros and helped us all along the way. They led us to the sandbar and made sure we knew the ins and outs of the route. While approaching the sandbar, another hydro thunder employee who was leading a jet ski tour came by and helped us anchor/position the boat. Super helpful and professional-- while friendly and never made us feel dumb for not knowing what we were doing. We would definitely do another boat rental here. Practical tips: a half day was plenty (especially on a sunny day). The sandbar is a must visit. read more

The 1 1/2 hr jet ski guided tour was a blast. You go around the entire island in a single file caravan. I was a single rider so I went first and maxed out at 55mph in smooth water. In the rougher water I loved hitting the waves at 40-45mph. The slower and less experienced riders were in the back so at stops along the way I was able to play around in the deeper water until the back of the group caught up. The guide (Ben) was a smart guy and kept the newbie riders safe. One of the better activities I have done in Key West. Tips: bring cash & get a wet suit ($10 rental) read more

We rented two beach cruiser bicycles for about $34 for the entire day and had a lot of fun. We noticed that a bike had low tires and they quickly filled them up. We did a 30 min freestyle ride ($80/jet ski) which was a lot of fun. The ride area was about 3 miles wide so I think 30 minutes was enough time to explore & push it to the limit (~50mph). Looking back I would've probably opted for the tour but it was my first time and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to pick it up and move at the same pace of the group. I was still pretty slow by the end of 30 min but it wasn't too hard to get the hang of it. If you're under 28, Florida law does require you to pass an exam which took about 30 minutes. read more

They do have lots options for car seat which was a must for us! All electric cars and golf cars were is great condition. Car seat was new and easy to use. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My son and I took the 1-1/2hr tour around the Island. I really don't understand those complaining about the length of the trip as it was clearly stated. It was fast paced, but riding these jetskis slowly is really no fun at all. In my opinion it's a better value than renting them by the hour and you get to see more sights than riding them around a pen. It can be rough on the Atlantic side ,but it is the ocean. We had a great time. Dean was a great Lead guy & Matt rode hard keeping everyone in line & together as we had a few stragglers. Well worth it. read more

If you are looking to rent scooters in Key West, this is the place to go, they are super friendly and unlike many other places, there scooters are Yamahas, not a chinese brand, meaning they have much better build quality. They also have true Vespas which are Italian scooters, many other places use brands like KYMCO and other chinese companies. If you want a golf cart they aren't as friendly as those guys really just want your money, but i would highly recommend the scooters here. read more

Joe was super professional. When we signed up with the front desk, Angel was helpful, nice, and agile when working with 3 customers simultaneously. Then Joe returned to launch us. His succinct yet, thorough safety and user brief was perfectly balanced. The only rent brand new scooters. Upon turn in, Allen was equally friendly & professional. I should have read the rest of the reviews here prior to renting from these guys. As with previous renters here, they will charge your card for damages that you were not responsible for. When I came here in April to rent a moped I felt very uncomfortable. I was told that before renting that learning how to use a scooter/moped was relatively easy. The main problem at HydroThunder I had was the person who was teaching me was extremely impatient, passive aggressive, and not warm even before the training. Like he hated his job. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! Rented a golf cart from them, parked it outside of our Airbnb over night and in the morning it was gone. We called them and they told us it was probably stolen and to file a police report and they proceeded to immediately charge our card on file $9000, NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS! The police searched the island all day and couldn't find it. The funny thing is we had to give them our address we were staying at when we rented the cart so they definitely came by our place and took the golf cart and tried to make an easy $9000 off of us. We cancelled the card and the charge never went through, then we got a call after they realized they weren't getting the money that the cart was found. Classic scam. read more

Went on the 1.5 hour wave runner tour of key west. The Yamaha waverunners seemed brand new and ran very well. The sea was a bit choppy and it did seem hard to keep up sometimes. Our tour guide changed our route to make out trip less choppy which was very nice. There is a five minute stop on a sand bar thing that is very nice. If you are under 26 you will have to take a boater safety test which is pretty easy but kind of time consuming. read more

We recently visted Key West for a day. We reserved 3 electric golf carts. At the time of picking up the carts; everyone was in a rush. One guy walked us out to explain how to safely use it. It was at that moment we noticed one of the rear mirrors cracked. We pointed it out and he said that they are aware of it. My husband went inside and told the guy at the counter which also indicated "it's ok we know the mirror was damaged prior to your rental". We take off to enjoy our 8 hour rental. While visitng several spots and getting off; we noticed a worker from this company fairly close to us after 7PM. It wasnt until we drove away from Duval and went to a gas station and saw the same worker parked behind the gas station that we decided to confront the guy. ( We saw him at the same locations at the very same time not doing anything 4 times within an hour) When we asked him if he was following us; he never looked up at us. He had a skully over his head and was staring to the floor of his car. So we decided to walk away since we were being ignored. It was right after that he drove off. He never got out of his car at the gas station. We then call the emergency number on the key chain they provided us with to only reach a voicemail. I left a voicemail and 17 minutes later I got a call from the owner of the company. I told him that we were being followed by a worker of his. I gave the description of this guy and the car he was driving. He said he would look into it. We felt unsafe with our children there also and decided to turn the cars in and just leave. We honestly felt this guy was planning on robbing us if we would have given him the opportunity. When we go drop off the carts NOONE was there at the after hour location. So yeap... ANOTHER phone call which followed by me leaving ANOTHER message. So we lost out on 3 hours of rental becuse of this creepy guy. The BEHOLD.... my card was charged an additional $53.75!!!! I was wondering if that was a fee they charged for having thier employee follow us around hahaha. Since I didnt know I have called the company for 4 days straight now and left messages and NOONE has returned my call. I decided to contact my credit card and was told the extra charge was entered manually. Meaning someone copied my card information somewhere along the line. My credit card tried to speak to them on it and they refused to be on a recorded line. ( Why I ask myself) So since they are not compliant I went ahead and filed a fraud case. They can now deall with my credit card company. Something tells me that they are charging me for that broken mirror and I am sure many people have paid for the same broken mirror. I DO NOT recommend this place at ALL. You cannot trust them on thoer word.... their after hours drop off location... their employees or even getting a return call AND they over charge you when you are gone. LOOK FOR ANOTHER COMPANY! We had a great experience - a little rough but our guides, Larry & Chris made sure all were safe. They even went out to check on a rider who was left behind by another tour group (not the same company). There really aren't many points of interest but they provided information about the history and military sites on the island. My husband and I rode together on one jet ski and decided to ride fast up front with some of the others who preferred it faster. The jet skis were like new and in great working condition. The Atlantic side was a bit rougher and there was a storm brewing but we survived, my husband slowed it down through there and I had to hold in a little tighter! We were happy with the ride, the tour guides, and the tour company and their courteous service. We are going to rent their 15' SeaDoo tomorrow to get back out on the water for a couple of hours. read more

We took their 90 min jetski tour of Key West. It was exciting. My wife & I shared one jetski. You go around the main island, & stop in one place in the middle of the ocean where it is shallow enough that you can stand. There were about 15 of us in the group. Be sure to shop for prices because they will vary by vendor. Cheapest prices are through booking directly with them. However 2-3 hours after returning our scooter we received a phone call from the manager regarding damages. This was a surprise to us! We only had the scooter for 2 hours and didn't have any accidents while it was in our possession. From beginning to end we had a great time with Hydro Thunder! Casey at the counter was courteous and friendly, she even had a place to hold on to our belongings while on the tour. Our guide Mateo was upbeat, friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. After a brief overview of how to control the ski we set off on out 1 1/2 hour tour (actually 2 hours). The tour included several stops; one at an area to play on the skis, another to take a swim at a sand bar, and two more to bunch up the group. The tour was very much about keeping up with the guides fast pace (30+ MPH average). This is possibly due to the fact that the tour covers about 44 miles so it's a lot of water to cover in 1 1/2 hours. If you are not used to athletic movements, exercise, or anything more than a casual bike ride you will be sore for a couple of days after. I should also mention that this experience is not for the faint of heart. There was a portion of the tour where the route crosses the stretch of water where the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean meet there were 2-4 foot waves for us to contend with. This in a Jet Ski going 20-30 MPH means.... insane amounts of airtime. The Jet Skis were in great shape, fast and maneuverable and it's easy to get carried away on these things. They did offer the unique service of taking pictures while on the tour and posting it on their Facebook Page for us to use without any extra cost. Other than the ringing in my ears from my passengers yelling we had an AMAZING time and I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking to add a boost of adrenaline to the generally laid back vibe of Key West. read more

My husband and I were staying at the Hyatt in Key West and decided to book the Key West Jet Ski Tour through the Hotel which was actually operated by HydroThunder. The location was right at the hotel - very convenient. We checked in and received instruction. All was smooth. Our guide was Jo-Jo, a lifelong Key West resident and former firefighter. He was nice, explained things clearly and we felt safe through the entire tour. The first part the water was pretty calm so we could go fast, but towards the end it did get really choppy (unfortunately we can't control the water!). He pointed out key landmarks, some history and also took us to a sandbar to hang out at for a while which was my favorite part. Loved Jo-Jo and the tour.
