I once needed an oil change, and had hit the bottom of my car on a large rock, cracking the metal housing of the oil filter. He showed this to me, and at that point said that there was no need for repair immediately, but to begin saving for about $400 in parts and labor. Sure enough, some 8 months one time I brought it in for an oil change and the crack had grown enough to no longer keep the oil filter contained, so he fixed it when it needed to be fixed. Both times he showed me the issue and explained it to me. He will go out of his way to work with single parents on fixed income etc.

Bait and switch tactics are alive and well here…read more Contacted Clifton Tire a few days back and told them that I had a tractor tire that had a screw in it and I could not get it to re seat onto the bead. They told me I could bring the tire in for them to repair and that it would be $20. Took the tire in yesterday and gave it to them and then went for a bite to eat while they fixed it. Came back and had the windows down in the car and heard a female voice yell $40 as we pulled into the parking lot. Didn't think anything of it. They loaded the tire while my wife went in to pay. She came back and said we were charged $40. She went back in and spoke to the lady and was told they had to quote "take it apart". They never told me on the phone when I first called in that the tire repair could be either $20 or $40 if they had to "take it apart". And on top of being double charged for the tire repair, they kept my good metal valve stem cap from the tire and put on a cheap plastic cap. Never again will we go there and I will definitely steer people I know away from this place. It is unbelievable that they would do business like this in a small town. Just wanted to let people know that they practice this kind bait and switch and to be aware that they will quote one price over the phone and possibly charge you double after the repair. You may have won the battle Clifton Tire, but you lost the war.

We were on vacation headed for the Texas hill country from Wichita Fall. The transmission, a six speed standard, locked up in our Dodge 3500 while pulling a 31 ft. Airstream travel trailer. We contacted a tow company and they sent a truck out. The driver was very professional and helpful. When I asked for a mechanic recommendation, he told me about Tom and said he was the best which proved to be correct. At that time Tom's shop was brand new as he had just recently started into business. The tow driver took us by to talk to Tom. He took the job and was the most professional business person I have seen. He had the truck ready to go very quickly and at a very fair price. Ronny's got right on it, replaced the tire and swapped it with the spare, all in well under an hour. The price for the tire was less than I expected, and there was no charge for any of the labour. Ronny (I'm guessing it was Ronny) even told me the best way to get home, given his experience with traffic on my route at that time of day.
