I've been looking for something to get my 18 month old son into for...ever. Activities in this area are pretty scarce and finally, someone recommended gymnastics. I called Mills for some information - the woman at the front desk was through and very friendly. She told me to come in about 10 minutes before the class to register, no problem. We were registering for a new class - a boys only, toddler class (Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10am). Lucky for me, there was a current Groupon running - $20 for four 30 minute classes ($16 off). We walked in and were greeted immediately. The registration process was literally one piece of paper (a waiver, general contact information), we got a quick tour of the facility, and waited for our class to start. There's a little waiting area for the kids with chairs and blocks and benches for the parents/other siblings to watch the gym area from. Our coach was Kevin and he called us back at 10am, on the dot. My son went right to him and he was great with all of the kids. He didn't hesitate to jump in and help any of them, was really enthusiastic, and didn't waste one minute of class time. My son was busy every single second of class. The class was small with 3 kids in it and they all seemed to be that way. I don't think I saw an instructor with more than 5 kids. We ended on time, my son got a little ribbon, two stamps, and was ready for a nap! I loved our first class and signed him up for the next 4 (your first class is FREE! They offer you a "trial" run before they let you register for anything, which is awesome). The gym was clean, the staff was nice, and I have a feeling we'll be members for a long time! read more

Had a coach parker last year, very rude! My daughter was only blk baby in toddler class, he never let her go first EVER. Full 6 months, they get a new client, which was YT and start allowing her to start first. My daughter would have to beg him to go first. read more

A coach Nicole was rude to my wife and child, when this was brought up to management it was excused as "she's having personal issues" How is that a 10 year old child's problem? If you can't handle kids maybe find a different kind of job....coaching isn't for everyone. Won't waste my team here. read more

Hi. I'm sure some aspects of this place are great. Never bring your child here for the summer camp. I have life long trauma from coming here as a child, and I think it's important to let others know what I went through. While the gymnastics part was fun, I was bullied by another kid in the camp for several summers and staff never did anything about it. This person tried to drown me during a field trip to the YMCA, locked me in the bathrooms and wouldn't let me leave until I did what she said, jabbed at my eyes, and verbally abused me. My parents were clear with the staff that the bullying needed to stop and needed to be monitored, but the staff did not care. This has forever left a bad taste in my mouth about Mills, making it a scary and uncomfortable memory. I would hope they strive to give every kid a good experience from now and instead of leaving them with lasting trauma. Do better. read more

My three-year-old went here on a field trip. We had so much fun, there is so much to do from itty-bitty beginners to Olympic type equipment. I was surprised to find out there is stuff for parkour, and there are things for ninja Warrior. There is an area for toddlers, and open gym time for kids and adults. Everything seemed very clean, the employees were nice. This is definitely a place I would recommend and I plan to go back with my son soon. read more

I had just arrived to Detroit and met up with my sister-in-law and nieces for their Friday class. I found it cute to see little kids doing their gymnastics. There's different levels and groups. So you see them go through different activities all over the place. I don't know anything else much about the program, but it's a huge gym and I think it's nice to let the groups do all the activities at the same time so that the kids see what they can be potentially do in the future. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. If you want your kid to be bullied and hit/kicked, then drop them off here. Mackenzie (one of their glorified babysitters) will make sure they're very taken care of for you. read more

The toddler open gym is amazing. It provides so much space for the kiddos to run and play in a safe environment. The Saturday evening one can be a bit crowded though so depending on your little knee comfort maybe start with the weekday options first. read more

A new recent review is needed. We have been a part of the Mills gym family for 6 years. My daughter started in the Bronze level of the rec classes. She has now been on the competitive team for 3 years. She started in the Xcel program , competing Silver then Gold now JO Lvl 5. The gym recently expanded to the entire building. All the staff and coaches are AMAZING. They have added many new and improved classes. Some of which include Ninja zone for boys and girls and Karate. I HIGHLY recommend considering becoming a part of our AWESOME gym family. read more

I really adore Mills. My soon to be 5 year old daughter has been going there for almost a year. The staff at Mills really enjoy their jobs and work with your child based on their abilities. I've seen Alicia go above and beyond to include children who are reluctant - or simply having a bad day - without taking away from the rest of the group. The price is VERY reasonable. You pay a flat monthly rate based on how many sessions/session length per week your child attends. I only have one child, but I believe there is a discount for multiple children. They also offer lots of "parents night out" type events and holiday parties. For a full afternoon/evening of fun for the kids and some time to go run errands or just sit in silence alone (!) its usually about $10 plus $1 or so for pizza. Can't beat that! We're having my daughter's 5th birthday party at Mills in a couple weeks (for less $ than Chuck E. Cheese with more personalized attention and group interaction). She (and I) can't wait! read more

The gym itself is really nice. Clean and friendly staff. I give the gym 4 stars. I would not recommend the Ninja Zone camp for younger children. They have a great kids ninja warrior course setup. Therefore, we thought that it was more like Ninja Warrior courses with tumbling and exercise. My 5-year old came home each day with a violent attitude. They watched TV during lunch (not shows that our kids watch). We came early for pick up one day, they were learning how to attack each other. They did a word search. Some of the words were assault, deadly, attack. If they are going to allow young children, then they need to break into age groups . I think the camp may be good for older children, but would never send a young child. We will not be back. read more

I enrolled my two-year old in the toddler program after hearing great reviews of Mills. Our first class was on a Thursday evening. When I arrived, I told the front desk it was our first class and asked for assistance. She walked us through the facility and introduced us to our instructor. When we got on the mat for class, the instructor, however, hardly instructed us on what to do and seemed to have expected us to magically know exactly what we should be doing. I began to be incredibly annoyed. We moved to another "center" and the instructor went through a 4-5 step routine for the toddlers to do. Let me repeat: the instructor told my two year old daughter to do a 4 to 5 step ROUTINE. As an educator, I found this to be incredibly developmentally inappropriate. I was also annoyed because I could barely remember the steps to help my daughter through them. Having a definite start and end point to classes would probably help out in this regards since it seemed like the other moms remembered all the steps whereas I was trying to acclimate myself and my daughter to Class #1 while trying to keep up with veteran participants. When class was over, I went to front desk to ask a few questions about official enrollment and payments, etc. My annoyance continued as the front desk staff as a whole was incredibly unprofessional, licking cupcake frosting and squealing about stolen baked goods. I was given almost no information and had to prompt the front desk to get any information whatsoever. I would expect front desk staff to be much more informed about the steps to enroll children, waivers, and financials. Overall, it was a very unprofessional experience that was unexpected from a place spoken so highly of. read more

I have been bringing my daughter to mills since she was 2 years old. She is currently 4 and has been in coach Cheri's class. My daughter can be somewhat of a challenge with listening and following directions as I'm sure a lot of kids that age are. Despite that, coach Cheri has always encourage her to do her best and believe in herself and seems very knowledgable with children. Stephanie at the desk is always friendly and professional, the owner always says hello in passing, and the studio is clean. My daughter also had her 4th birthday party and they set up, clean up, and play with the party guests. The equipment and music was all set up as well and everyone had a blast. My daughter and I are very happy with Mills. read more

I called inquiring about my daughters birthday party and they told me the day I wanted was open but they don't do any bookings over the phone and I had to come in. I said fine I'd be there after work, get there and she gave it to someone else! I call to complain, the lady says they can't book reservations over the phone without the deposit and would have done it over the phone but she told me I had to come in. Then she says the person I spoke to was the manager and if she said they can't do it over the phone then she was right they clearly lack communication and this is disheartening because we left downriver and I was going to sign up my 3 children there. The only thing she was willing to do was offer me another weekend, we only get my step daughter certain weekends. The only good thing I have to say about them is that the lady stayed professional but other than that I do not recommend them read more

My daughter loves this place... coaches seem to really enjoy working with kids. Front desk girls always have a smile and high five for my daughter. Tried another place before and was very disappointed. Love that is seems really clean in there too. read more

I love it here. I have had my kids here for both birthday parties and enrolled in preschool classes. The coaches are a lot of fun and really love the kids. If you feel uncomfortable having your child doing something(Jumping on trampoline/foam pit) , they will help you or give a fun alternative. read more
